Today I do my first ever Amnesia playthrough... on the hardest difficulty possible... without a gun. As you can assume, my bones were cracked enough during this that I'll never have to see a chiropractor again.

Amnesia Shellshock Difficulty was pretty tough, but I have to say it was somehow a lot of fun too. Yes I understand this I'm not beating the self-brain suffering allegations

The funny thing is, he couldn't have used it, even if he wanted to. The gun was locked inside one of the lockers, and he never found the code for it.

TBF on Shellshock the pistole isn't AS useful. It's a good tool but the monster is only stunned for a second by it on Shellshocked. You can't scare the monster off with it.

@@Duisburg051 well yeah he did, but it wouldnt have mattered anyway. he never found the code for the locker that the gun was locked in. more than likely he just never found it, and decided to frame it as a purposeful decision rather than admit he just never found the gun.

Fun fact about the Bunker's Flashlight: This is an actual lantern that was 'used' in WW1, but the soldiers rarely bother using it cause the Winding was that loud and distractive. And you might think "But your in a warzone, wouldnt that sound be drown by everything else" ... No. If it was at night, it was often quieter and there were less bombardments, but there were plenty of sninper's around waiting to pop sentries on duty. Even the Ingame note mentions how using it was anoying.
The quotes if you die also say that the noise alone renders it a hazard more than the darkness did.

the dogtag system for the locker codes makes some sense, you don't want someone to continue to block the locker after they die
but yeah, not very secure.
Especially if a German prisoner escaped custody and took the guard's dog tags, that's free bomb materials

@@eadbert1935 probably pretty likely once chain of command breaks down after a MONSTER starts roaming the bunkers and murdering men.
I feel like if the enemy is in your bunker you have other issues.

I shit you not, my FAVORITE camping tool is my flashlight that takes 4 squeezes to charge for 5 minutes of bright LED light. Emergency flashlight will ALWAYS work!
What kind of flashlight is it? Sounds dope!
@@TheToastyGoblin a squeeze lever flashlight im guessing. its similar to a hand cranked flashlight but with a lever usually built into the grip that you squeeze to generate power
4 squeezes for 5 mins. Leds are a gift from god on their power to light ratio.

Shoutout to whoever does the editing. The small cutaways to a meme of whatever snam says or jokes about adds a lot to the video. Like the French paper talking about water being wet. Just small and funny things that make the video even better. Definitely going the extra mile compared to a lot of other videos within this genre on RUclips. As someone who beat normal and hard without dying, Shell Shock sounds like the perfect challenge! I dont think it was out when i first played, so its a good reason to get back into the game! Though my anxiety went through the roof seeing that the saferoom doors werent made of steel no more.
Quick tip about padlocks, they can also be broken using heavy bricks, the same one the tutorial taught you to break wood doors with. Its loud, but doesnt use up resources.

Yep! They added it as a Halloween update last year I believe.
Also yeah I knew about the bricks but the only one I found was in the prison and it turns out trying to drag one into another area makes it very easy for the monster to unalive you 😅
@@Snamwiches Cool, thanks for the heads up. Fair enough about the bricks, I'm sure that they aren't even remotely viable on Shell Shock, since the Monster seems to consume any remnants of breathing room.

You can actually hear the monster call the protagonist's name, "Henri", as he falls to his death.
Seems like it does that when walking too. Before this I watched a video of the game files for the monster.
Damn. Does he even know that he'll kill Henri if he get close to him, or is it that he gets close and then the monster juice kicks in and he kills him on accident?
Or is he mad that Henri monsterfied him, accidentally or not?
@alchemysaga3745 From the notes in the game, it's very likely he's aware of what is going on, but is unable to stop himself. In the game files and in-game, you can actually hear him muttering "Blood... on my hands..." and "Blood on my hands!" referencing one of the notes he left before fully transforming.
From every note, it seems he is aware but cannot stop himself, he's compelled to kill.
i mean... i think even the guys in WWI knew they were probably gonna die, may as well leave your locker combo somewhere so no one has to break into it.

Despite playing this game to death, I honestly had no idea that grabbing the detonator handle and just leaving was a valid solution. The game even has extra dialogue from Toussaint if you do so. Kind of insane how much thought was put into this game.

One of my favorite parts of this game is that near the end you can discover that the monster is actually your friend from the beginning. The water you give him at the start is what turns him into the monster.

@@SableLakeGames Not quite true. I've just watched the streams and he did find the code. But by then had long forgotten what the code was for so never bothered with it. Some of what he says is just wrong, but that's almost entirely because of how long it took him for his first playthrough.
