I will tell you what's good about you: You speak clearly, explain it patiently; show it step by step; You are speaking loud enough unlike others who basically whisper. You have confidence and it shows. Speed on your TV is phenomenal and you explained it as to why. So, I will do the same. I have a 2Tb HDD and all the do-dahs. You showed it how and why of it - with no room for any doubts Now what is not good about you: You say this is an advanced video; granted. But you go into explanation like newbies are watching. Nothing wrong; but people like me who know a thing or two want to get into the "meat" of things quickly. I needed a lot of patience, went to sleep and woke up where I need to know something. So, it is really not bad but you are trying to help *everyone*, so I understand. Update: I did it. It works lightning fast and I am so happy as a pig in $hit. Now I do not have to worry about the 8Gb on the firestick. I can load all I want, take it with me in my travels and if I am bored with what the hotel offers, this one will help. I travel on biz with lot of time hanging around in the evenings. So, this is part of my packing. I will not leave home without it..... he...he...he. One more thing: Download the firestick app to your smart phone. It becomes the remote. Good thing about it is - a keyboard pops up when you want to type something fast and search. NO. Sounds great, and just the sort of thing I need. But now I'm going to scan through your videos and see if you've done a similar thing, but hooking to a NAS instead - I've got one of those and if I can hook that in instead, I'll have even more storage and some protection for the data, too

Thanks. I'm going to give ES Pro a try. I have used other methods to transfer files back and forth and the regular version of ES was not very effective. I'll see how this works for me.
I finally was able to download the app. I am trying to delete redundant files. I select all but I can't figure out how to highlight the delete button to remove the files ( they all have Kodi in the filename so I assume they are safe to delete). I also can't delete duplicate files. Please help.

Yep got one of those, was the first thing I looked into... Indispensable for Firestick. Got an old 1tb hard drive plugged in, a flash drive and a game controller. I'm a big fan of SBCs but you can save yourself hassle installing these and get a Firestick 4k, a on sale it cannot be beaten.
I have connected up as you say and yes the drive is seen but now it will only connect to the network via wireless not the ethernet Not sure why this is. Great video and well explained, Thank you.
Seriously great video, I have been wondering how to add external storage to the stick and move content, now I know. The ethernet idea appeals to me greatly so invested in one and a OTG cable. Be fun doing this and seeing if I can get it to work.
You may have covered this, but what about video files that exceed 4G...? Have you interfaced your later hookups to allow the use of NTFS-formatted external drives that are not restricted to that file size limit...? Unless I'm misunderstanding, aren't high quality LONG videos too large to be compatible with the demo drive's format suggested in this video...?
You really should look into an android box if this is a concern to you. There are many limitations on the firestick for expansion. This is only for some people. Many android boxes are fully loaded with record direct to the box with plenty of storage and no limitations. If you want to know more about the best ones, let me know. Moved most of my apps to usb storage from Firestick 4K Max tried recoding a movie from Tivi Mate filled storage to 100% with one short movie next step move all my apps to usb storage to free up space unless you can recommend something else well it affect the performance of Tivi Mate on usb storage Thanks for the helpful video's.

On tivimate when you set the recording, you can choose the location it records to. We had a video on youtube on this until youtube decided to remove it. We now have it on our patreon for our members to access.

Thanks for sharing this video. I did want you to know that I followed your instructions exactly to add storage and an ethernet connection. I opted for the cable instead of the OTG adapter and a thumb drive instead of the 2tb drive. But it will not work on my Fire TV stick 4k after several attempts. In this configuration shown in the video my thumb drive works but the ethernet is not recognized and the stick only connects via Wi-Fi. To troubleshoot I did remove everything and only connected the ethernet adapter to the fire stick and only then does it recognize the ethernet connection. Have you by chance tried setting this up using the cable??
For your situation you need to use a USB hub. Powered preferably. We have a more updated video showing how to do this including links to what devices you will need and the process. it was posted after this video (called turn your firestick into a mega beast). Since amazon did an update after doing this video, you need the hub to use both ethernet and hard drive. That's why we did that video for you.
I was not able to get this to work with any network wired connection - both the OTG adapter and the OTG cable listed above would not pass through the network data from the ethernet adapter. I tried the following setup - 2018 Firestick 4K - 128gb Samsung usb stick - Amazon ethernet adapter - OTG adapter - no wired network connection. Also tried the same setup with a Cable Matters gigabit ethernet adapter instead of the Amazon ethernet adapter - no wired connection. Tried both setups with the OTG cable instead of the OTG adapter - no wired network connection. Both the OTG adapter and cable work fine with a wi-fi connection. I enjoy the CC videos - very informatiive - but I had issues with this one. All potential solutions appreciated.
Jim, stay tuned. For some reason some drives draw too much power to pass through ethernet and some otg adapters aren't working for pass through either. I have another solution for everything that I think will work with 100% instead of 80% of the people. Will have a video likely this coming week.
Great setup but I was not able to download it because it says that: for security my TV is not allowed to install unknown apps from this source. Also gives me 2 choices SETTINGS or CANCEL. What do I need to do for me to add the app on my FIRESTICK
Do you have a hard drive and an Ethernet adapter? The newest update requires a powered hub with most hard drives to be able to have both. That’s why we posted a new version of this video on the channel. Have you watched it? Hub eliminates the OTG adapter and provides extra power. Less than $20

So, I ordered the OTG adapter (2pack) on Saturday. Amazon delivered today because I selected the funky delivery option. Got a USB card reader so I could use my SD micro cards that are sitting around like teenagers. Hooked up as shown, using the card reader with 64GB SD micro and nothing. No notification of external device added, just nothing. Diving into my parts adapter pack, I checked out the card reader on the PC, it was fine. Unfortunately neither of the OTG Adapters appeared to work on the Firestick or the Laptop (Via USB Mini to 'A' adapter). Amazon was great and I'm returning the non-operative parts to the UPS store tomorrow. So, should I just go looking for a OTG cable instead or re-try the adapter? And yes, I did order the correct part as listed above. You guidance is sought.
Sounds like a format issue. Firestick can only read fat32. Did you try for closing es file, then restarting the firestick? Should prompt you to reformat to proper format unless that drive simply isn’t compatible
Hi - I did what the instruction say. The issue I have is that firestick cannot reconized both. It's only recognizing either the ethernet connection or the external storage. The only configuration set up that is different is that my Firsetsick 4K is inserted thru the Denon Receiver not to the tv. Any suggestions?
That has to do with a faulty hub. I had a couple that was like that also. The newer firesticks don't have the issues like this. But if you got a different but (one that is powered), you won't have this issue. The drive it taking too much power and the hub can't handle it.
In your opinion, do you think it's ok to use an IPTV with Tivimate on firestick without installing a VPN to hide my IP address? I'd like to avoid spending the extra $100 if possible. I don't really do a lot of web browsing on my firestick, but the tivimate install tutorial recommends installing Express VPN. Let me know your thoughts. Thank you.
Zero chance I would use an IPTV and tivimate without a VPN. I get too many emails and messages from people that have gotten in trouble because their IP address was associated with illegal streaming or downloading. The whole idea of tivimate is to record from the IPTV. It will be a red flag. spend the money and be safe. I got about 20 emails just last month from people upset and worried. I always try and educate on this. This is the one I have expressvpn.com/curiositycafe - one of the few that has streaming speed servers.
Done. I see the extra space, and was able to move a few apps to the USB stick. But, most apps don't offer the ability to move, that option doesn't show up. Any advice to move more apps over?
Question as in most bought drives comes formatted to NTFS format can the firestick see that for format? Does the drive needs to be formatted to ExFat or Fat32 using Partitioning Software that can format the whole of the 2TB in those format. Fire TV only supports USB drives formatted with a FAT32 file system. NTFS, exFAT, HFS, ext#, and other file systems are not supported. If you insert a USB drive with a file system other than FAT32, the Fire TV will ask if you'd like to format the drive. And you did not show us that part in this video. So you can't just buy & plug & play.
The newest video on this subject shows more since the fire os has been updated since this video. You plug it in, Amazon asks to format it, then you go. Enjoy the extra space.

I trying to hook my system up as you described. Meaning I am using a thumb drive and an ethernet adapter. I can get the thumb drive to work but the Internet does not show connected. It still shows my Wi-Fi connection. How can I make it show my Direct ethernet connection?

The only thing I can see is you are using that is different is a 4K Fire Stick. I’m using just a Fire Stick and you are using that small little adapter. I’m using the otg cable adapter.
Can you tell me why I would want add external drive to my firestick? I suspect it's to store movies you download but I can't see any videos showing the end product. Right now I don't have a computer only this phone so please point me to a video that shows me why it's worth my time and money.
There are many reasons. One of the issues with a firestick is the lack of storage for additional apps which causes major slowdown. Some apps/games/movie streaming apps take up a lot of space. Also many people use a DVR app to record live tv which is a huge benefit of a firestick. you can't do it without external drive. No reason to pay for cable anymore if you have a firestick
No, largest flash drive or thumb is 64gb, the stick can't handle the format they use to get that size in a small setup. We have links to drives that work in the description
Yes, it's done once connected to your firestick. It will prompt you the first time you do it and you can do it right on your stick. If it doesn't, restart the device... still nothing? then it's not compatible with your device. Did you get the seagate slim?
I tried adding a 32G USB flash drive (FAT32) with the OTG adapter. I was already using the Amazon ethernet adapter. Hookup straight forward as per video. I know the USB is getting power as it flashes red when plugged into the OTG. Everything I try cannot get Fire TV to recognize the USB (Storage setting) or see the storage in ES File Manager (only internal storage of Firestick). Did I miss a setting somewhere?

I thought I had a faulty drive so I exchanged it for another, and the same thing is happening. Any thoughts, ideas, or suggestions?
That is a power issue. In your case it's either the firestick isn't plugged into the 2amp firestick plug (maybe a different plug, or direct into the tv?). Or your firestick has too many resources being used. Have you closed all your background apps? Do you run background apps and processes apk?
I’ve add the bits to add an SD card and direct Internet connection. My Fire Stick isn’t recognizing that fact and still shows WiFi connection. Thoughts? Thanks
Okay, it seems that when I have the OTG Adapter connected, the wired internet connection doesn’t work, tried both adapters. Remove them and plug the power from the Ethernet Adapter into the Fire Stick, it sees the wired connection. Weird! (I just wish my ‘DonkeyNet’ connection was better than 1.25. Sigh)

These OTG Adapters don't allow my ethernet to get through to the Firestick. I've tried all options. Rather keep my ethernet connection

Why not set the tivimate recordings to the external drive?

Great setup but I was not able to download it because it says that: for security my TV is not allowed to install unknown apps from this source. Also gives me 2 choices SETTINGS or CANCEL. What do I need to do for me to add the app on my FIRESTICK

Do you have a hard drive and an Ethernet adapter? The newest update requires a powered hub with most hard drives to be able to have both. That’s why we posted a new version of this video on the channel. Have you watched it? Hub eliminates the OTG adapter and provides extra power. Less than $20
@@CuriosityCafe No just had an OTG adapter. Have now bought the USB hub with ethernet and wioll see how it goes. Has anyone done a video with regards to getting a 2.5gbe connection working on a firestick or firecube? Is it possible? Could be a first.

So, I ordered the OTG adapter (2pack) on Saturday. Amazon delivered today because I selected the funky delivery option. Got a USB card reader so I could use my SD micro cards that are sitting around like teenagers. Hooked up as shown, using the card reader with 64GB SD micro and nothing. No notification of external device added, just nothing. Diving into my parts adapter pack, I checked out the card reader on the PC, it was fine. Unfortunately neither of the OTG Adapters appeared to work on the Firestick or the Laptop (Via USB Mini to 'A' adapter). Amazon was great and I'm returning the non-operative parts to the UPS store tomorrow.
So, should I just go looking for a OTG cable instead or re-try the adapter? And yes, I did order the correct part as listed above. You guidance is sought.
Sounds like a format issue. Firestick can only read fat32. Did you try for closing es file, then restarting the firestick? Should prompt you to reformat to proper format unless that drive simply isn’t compatible
Hi - I did what the instruction say. The issue I have is that firestick cannot reconized both. It's only recognizing either the ethernet connection or the external storage. The only configuration set up that is different is that my Firsetsick 4K is inserted thru the Denon Receiver not to the tv. Any suggestions?
That has to do with a faulty hub. I had a couple that was like that also. The newer firesticks don't have the issues like this. But if you got a different but (one that is powered), you won't have this issue. The drive it taking too much power and the hub can't handle it.
In your opinion, do you think it's ok to use an IPTV with Tivimate on firestick without installing a VPN to hide my IP address? I'd like to avoid spending the extra $100 if possible. I don't really do a lot of web browsing on my firestick, but the tivimate install tutorial recommends installing Express VPN. Let me know your thoughts. Thank you.
Zero chance I would use an IPTV and tivimate without a VPN. I get too many emails and messages from people that have gotten in trouble because their IP address was associated with illegal streaming or downloading. The whole idea of tivimate is to record from the IPTV. It will be a red flag. spend the money and be safe. I got about 20 emails just last month from people upset and worried. I always try and educate on this. This is the one I have expressvpn.com/curiositycafe - one of the few that has streaming speed servers.

Did you get the recommended drive? Not all drives will work on it. Some take too much power draw

Done. I see the extra space, and was able to move a few apps to the USB stick. But, most apps don't offer the ability to move, that option doesn't show up. Any advice to move more apps over?
Some built in apps are tricky to move. It's a process. You shouldn't have to though. Plenty of space if you keep 3rd party apps on the usb

Question as in most bought drives comes formatted to NTFS format can the firestick see that for format? Does the drive needs to be formatted to ExFat or Fat32 using Partitioning Software that can format the whole of the 2TB in those format. Fire TV only supports USB drives formatted with a FAT32 file system. NTFS, exFAT, HFS, ext#, and other file systems are not supported. If you insert a USB drive with a file system other than FAT32, the Fire TV will ask if you'd like to format the drive. And you did not show us that part in this video. So you can't just buy & plug & play.
The newest video on this subject shows more since the fire os has been updated since this video. You plug it in, Amazon asks to format it, then you go. Enjoy the extra space.

I trying to hook my system up as you described. Meaning I am using a thumb drive and an ethernet adapter. I can get the thumb drive to work but the Internet does not show connected. It still shows my Wi-Fi connection. How can I make it show my Direct ethernet connection?
It should be working. Does the ethernet work when your thumb drive isn't hooked up? Could be an adapter issue
@@CuriosityCafe Yes the Ethernet work without the thumb drive. I changed out the otg adapter cable. Still will not work together. The only thing I can see is you are using that is different is a 4K Fire Stick. I’m using just a Fire Stick and you are using that small little adapter. I’m using the otg cable adapter.
Can you tell me why I would want add external drive to my firestick? I suspect it's to store movies you download but I can't see any videos showing the end product. Right now I don't have a computer only this phone so please point me to a video that shows me why it's worth my time and money.
There are many reasons. One of the issues with a firestick is the lack of storage for additional apps which causes major slowdown. Some apps/games/movie streaming apps take up a lot of space. Also many people use a DVR app to record live tv which is a huge benefit of a firestick. you can't do it without external drive. No reason to pay for cable anymore if you have a firestick

No, largest flash drive or thumb is 64gb, the stick can't handle the format they use to get that size in a small setup. We have links to drives that work in the description

Yes, it's done once connected to your firestick. It will prompt you the first time you do it and you can do it right on your stick. If it doesn't, restart the device... still nothing? then it's not compatible with your device. Did you get the seagate slim?
I tried adding a 32G USB flash drive (FAT32) with the OTG adapter. I was already using the Amazon ethernet adapter. Hookup straight forward as per video. I know the USB is getting power as it flashes red when plugged into the OTG. Everything I try cannot get Fire TV to recognize the USB (Storage setting) or see the storage in ES File Manager (only internal storage of Firestick). Did I miss a setting somewhere?
The drive will only be visible straight up on an Amazon 4K Max. I’m guessing you have an older one? Older ones you use es to move back and forth

This one is really frustrating me however, I purchased the Seagate 2 TB external drive in from Amazon, and all it does is go in a constant loop constantly making my firestick reset. I thought I had a faulty drive so I exchanged it for another, and the same thing is happening. Any thoughts, ideas, or suggestions?
That is a power issue. In your case it's either the firestick isn't plugged into the 2amp firestick plug (maybe a different plug, or direct into the tv?). Or your firestick has too many resources being used. Have you closed all your background apps? Do you run background apps and processes apk?
When I plug it all in I lose ethernet connection and goes to WiFi. Any ideas what problem could be

Okay, it seems that when I have the OTG Adapter connected, the wired internet connection doesn’t work, tried both adapters. Remove them and plug the power from the Ethernet Adapter into the Fire Stick, it sees the wired connection. Weird! (I just wish my ‘DonkeyNet’ connection was better than 1.25. Sigh)
