This is an excellent video. Each step is discussed in detail while also staying completely on topic. Thank you for doing this. I'm not sure I need to do this at the moment, but I'm sure, in time, the approx 5 GB usable storage will continue to dwindle, as the file size of OS and corresponding app updates increase.
Hmmm. Would there be a way to add both 32gig AND 2TB to the same Firestick? The 32gig for system storage and the 2TB for content? What’s the maximum that can be added to system storage without hassle? I guess 32gig would be more than enough. Thx. LOVE your channel.

Hi Tanya, I really enjoy your videos. I find them very easy to follow and informative. I am having a problem with my Firestick 4k not recognizing my usb flash drive. I have used two different OTG connectors and three different usb flash drives and my firestick does not recognize them. I have followed your instructions by formatting each of the drives to fat32. I have also checked all connections, restarted my firestick by unplugging it and after it starts then connecting the usb flash drive. It does not recognize it. I am at wits end! Do you have any other suggestions? Thank you so much. Jack.
@@FireTVSticks Hi Tanya, Thank you for responding to my issue. I am using SanDisk USB drive. Since my message to you I went back through every step again. I think the problem was I put in a wrong number when going through the shell process. The USB drive now works! I used the Xplore to move several applications to the USB drive successfully. The storage on my Firestick has increased considerably as a result. When viewing Manage applications it indicates those applications are in the USB drive. As Fire TV devices are formatted to FAT32, the maximum size of USB storage that you can use is 2TB, however, Amazon officially recommends using USB drives that are 128GB or smaller. Amazon also recommends that high speed USB 3.0 drives are used, even though Fire TV Devices have a 2.0 USB port because USB 3.0 drives tend to have faster read/write speeds and will perform better, even when connected to USB 2.0 ports. Hi Tanya. Thanks for your excellent tutorial. I’ve added 16GB storage using a USB Memory Stick. However, I cannot find anywhere that offers me the option of downloading content viewed on FireStick to the actual FireStick. I have Prime but the download option I can see on my phone doesn’t seem to be displayed on my FireStick. Have you any recommendations or do you already another tutorial video that explains all this? Downloading from prime video and Netflix for example is not supported on the Firestick www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=GTDVUQFMY3GTZVX7#:~:text=To%20download%20Prime%20Video%20titles,title%20you%20want%20to%20download.&text=For%20TV%20shows%3A%20There's%20an%20option%20download%20the%20entire%20season.
Fire TV devices use the FAT32 file system, which has a maximum file size limit of 4 GB. However, the exception is the 3rd Gen Fire TV Cube - amzn.to/3HxZqoK. It has a full-sized USB port and supports USB drives formatted as NTFS (max size 256 TB). This means that files larger than 4GB are supported.
Great video! Is it possible to use the original Amazon LAN adapter with this solution? And is it possible to use an USB hub to connect keyboards/game controller and storage?
I do not sorry but in general, the 2nd Gen id Fire OS5, the 4K Firestick is Fire OS 6 and the new Firestick Lite & 4K Max are Fire OS 7. Thank you for watching 😊👍❤️
I have a quick, off topic question. If I (being in the USA) went to Europe and took my firestick with me, would I (if where I was staying had a wifi) be able to take my firestick with me and still watch the shows I watch from home? Thank you in advance. I enjoy your videos very much and always find them informative.
Content that is available in the US only will not work unless you u se a VPN to trick your internet into thinking you are still in the US. Peacock for example is only available within the United States and certain U.S. territories (American Samoa, Guam, Northern Marian Islands, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands). If you are outside of these areas, Peacock will not work. For apps that aren't restricted to a specific location, they will work fine. Thank you for watching 😊👍❤️
Hey 👋🏽 Tanya thanks for ur videos. I have a storage question. I feel kinda silly for asking like I should already know this. I have 762 MB of 5.94GB on my Firestick, is that ok or am I running out of space?
Hi Yvette. This amount of storage space is not a problem. Your Firestick will tell you when you are running out of space but ideally, you do not want to have less than 500 MB. Hope this helps. Thank you for watching 😊👍❤️
You can fix this issue by one of 2 ways: 1) Power down and unplug everything and then plug everything back together BEFORE powering on. Once, everything is connected, plug the power in LAST. 2) Unplug everything and DO NOT plug in your external memory. Plug your Firestick back in and power it up WITHOUT the external memory. Then when everything has loaded back up, plug your external memory in. One of these methods should resolve this for you. I hope this helps. Thank you for watching 😊👍❤️
hi, i have a question for you , thanks by the way for answering other questions in the past. you mentioned about a 2 tb hard drive as a storage device for firestick, . could a person use a 2 tb solid state flash drive flash drive that has movies for storage on a firestick? i think before you mentioned only a 128 gb flash drive could be used with a fat 32 system . but you mentioned the x-plore folder allowed a 2tb hard drive with a 32 fat system , could a 2 tb solid state flash drive with a fat 32 system be used in the x-plore firestick system? thanks, love your videos and information !
thanks for answering, you said yes, so the flash drive is okay to use "but" must be used with the x-plore app to. ? because i know before you said i think that 128gb was the largest flash drive alone that could be used by their self. i guess the key to it all is the x-plore file app for the lot larger file allowance . @@FireTVSticks
@@lonniehensley661 I think what I said before was that "As Fire TV devices are formatted to FAT32, the maximum size of USB storage you can use is 2TB. Is your Firestick powered by the mains or by your TV? Are you using the power cable and wall plug that cam in the box with your Firestick? Thank you for watching 😊👍❤️
Bought the UGREEN adapter but it's not getting any power when I plugged it in as you suggested with the OTG cable. Plugged it into my laptop and the power light came on and it worked. I guess I'm stuffed on this one.
When the UGREEN is used with the Firestick, are you powering the Firestick via a power outlet (rather than a USB port on the TV)? I have found recently with the Fire TV Stick 4K Max in particular that the light does not come on right away with the UGREEN Multi USB Hub. However, after waiting a few minutes, the light does come on. You can also try giving each connection a little wiggle - it sounds daft, but this can help to reset the link and make the power light come on.
Hi Tanya, thanks for the very helpful and informative video. I've one query, namely if I follow this process and add a separate storage device to my 4k Firestick, can I use tivimate to record and save IPTV programs onto it?

It has a full-sized USB port and supports USB drives formatted as NTFS (max size 256 TB). This means that files larger than 4GB are supported.
Great video! Is it possible to use the original Amazon LAN adapter with this solution? And is it possible to use an USB hub to connect keyboards/game controller and storage?
I hope this video will answer your questions - ruclips.net/video/KnGbWvbq1WU/видео.html Thank you for watching 😊👍❤️

Evening. Thanx for the video. My usb storage says format is MS-DOS (FAT32) is that correct? Just it was formatted on apple MacBook 👍🏻
Yes, this is correct. Thank you for watching 😊👍❤️
1) can you use this hard drive to store recorded shows sort of like a dvr.
2) does this work on the fire cube
Yes and Yes. Thank you for watching 😊👍❤️
will work with mi stick too??
I'm not sure sorry as I do not have a mi stick. Thank you for watching 😊👍❤️
Thanks. Do you know how to move application data from internal storage to external storage?
Yes, you can use an ADB command. Please refer to this guide: firetvsticks.com/add-more-storage-to-firestick-fire-os-6/
Thank you for all you do.
Most welcome. Thank you for watching 😊👍❤️
THANKS ..LOVE YOU
Thank you for watching 😊👍❤️
Do you have a comprehensive video of which firesticks are running which OS?
I do not sorry but in general, the 2nd Gen id Fire OS5, the 4K Firestick is Fire OS 6 and the new Firestick Lite & 4K Max are Fire OS 7. Thank you for watching 😊👍❤️
Thanks!
Does it work for mi tv stick also??
Not sure sorry, I have not looked at the mi tv stick. Thank you for watching 😊👍❤️
Thanks for these tips . Great work.

Glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching 😊👍❤️
Your amazing 🤩
Appreciated!
I took my fire stick to Canada in August and it worked fine
Content that is available in the US only will not work unless you u se a VPN to trick your internet into thinking you are still in the US. Peacock for example is only available within the United States and certain U.S. territories (American Samoa, Guam, Northern Marian Islands, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands). If you are outside of these areas, Peacock will not work. For apps that aren't restricted to a specific location, they will work fine. Thank you for watching 😊👍❤️
you definitely earned a sub . you covered EVERYTHING. Great job :)
Thank you for watching 😊👍❤️
Worked great. Thanks
Great!
@@FireTVSticks Thanks 😊
Hi Tanya, thank you for one more useful video. My Firestick 4K Max does not recognize the USB drive after 4k Max update. Any suggestion?
You can fix this issue by one of 2 ways:
1) Power down and unplug everything and then plug everything back together BEFORE powering on.
Yes
thanks for answering, you said yes, so the flash drive is okay to use "but" must be used with the x-plore app to. ? because i know before you said i think that 128gb was the largest flash drive alone that could be used by their self. i guess the key to it all is the x-plore file app for the lot larger file allowance . @@FireTVSticks
@@lonniehensley661 I think what I said before was that "As Fire TV devices are formatted to FAT32, the maximum size of USB storage you can use is 2TB. However, Amazon officially recommends using USB drives that are 128GB or smaller. Amazon also recommends that high speed USB 3.0 drives are used, even though Fire TV Devices have a 2.0 USB port. This is because USB 3.0 drives tend to have faster read/write speeds and will perform better, even when connected to USB 2.0 ports."
thanks as always for answering and your answer. i appreciate it. @@FireTVSticks
Hi Tanya - i purchased the HD you recommended, unfortunately it's not powering up :( (getting too less power) - i'm using a german stick .. any ideas?
Is your Firestick powered by the mains or by your TV? Are you using the power cable and wall plug that cam in the box with your Firestick? Thank you for watching 😊👍❤️
I added a 16gb pen drive which is fat 32 but can't see it anywhere will I need to format it again thanks Tanya
Hope this video helps - ruclips.net/video/3P4N7pmtfxQ/видео.html
@@FireTVSticks Daft, or not, it worked. the connections were screwy and it is now working. Thank you so much for your quick reply.
You always amaze me. 😍😘😍
Appreciated! Thank you for watching 😊👍❤️
Thanks
Appreciate your support ❤️
Will this work on the Chromecast with google tv ? It gives a better picture and connectivity than firestick. But woefully small free space!
Yes but I do not have any videos on how to do this sorry. Try a RUclips or Google search. Thank you for watching 😊👍❤️
Hi Tanya, thanks for the very helpful and informative video. I've one query, namely if I follow this process and add a separate storage device to my 4k Firestick, can I use tivimate to record and save IPTV programs onto it?
Yes you can. Create a folder on your storage for recordings and then go into Tivimate recording settings and point it to that folder. Thank you for watching 😊👍❤️
@@FireTVSticks Thanks Tanya, that's really helpful
So would you be able to record from k@@I the same way
I may be missing something, but is there a video for adding system storage to fire os 7?? Thanks
Sorry. I found it.😂😂😂
Glad you found it. Hope it was helpful. Thank you for watching 😊👍❤️
Hi - But FIRE STICK MAX Would recognize only FAT 32 Formatted USB - And with FAT 32 MAX File is 4gb . How to play more than 4 gb files in firestick
There are several ways around this, depending on what hardware you have. Try a Google search. Thank you for watching 😊👍❤️
Thanks for the videos

Hi Tanyia, I am trying to setup a Cloner Alliance and additional storage to a FS4 MAX WITH A WIRED CONNECTION. Is this possible and if so what splitter lead will I need to achieve this? THANKS TERRY
Hi Terry. Yes, you can use the same items as described in this video. The only difference to your Firestick is that you will be plugging it in to the HDMI port on the Cloner box.

Can you access the external storage via Kodi?
Yes, you should be able to. If you can explore files with Kodi then you should be able to explore the external storage. Thank you for watching 😊👍❤️
