Thank you very much you are the best person that I've been watching on RUclips because I was having problems trying to figure out my E34 1991 525i was overheating and just by watching the things you did help me a whole lot I squeeze the holes for a long time cuz I'm not running any termist at and I noticed that the car is holding at low temperature now I haven't drove it yet because I'm going to do it tomorrow again to see and make sure all the air is out I just changed my reservoir tank
Hello Repair Fanatic would like to Thank You for your video..once again you heiped me repair my 1997 528i.
I had replaced the CCV and intake manifold gaskets by mistake i removed wrong hose that let air in the system. My car over heated so i jacked my front end and followed your video. I did not think that it would work but it did. Thank you again
You legend - thank you, i have a jaguar, had my water pump changed by a complete dick of a mechanic who boasted afterwards when handing the car back 'I didnt even need to change or drain the coolant, just put the new one in' complete tool... Told him I didnt think that was right but he insisted it was. since then my car coolant level and temp has been everywhere. Thanks again mate
Nice job man, simple and to the point.
LOL
Very thanks!! Nice video!!
ok tnks for youre videos they helped me a lot..tnks to you and otto from bavarian auto..i can do most of the work myself
No problem let me know if you have anymore questions.
Good video your are the best
Chase morris do a cylinder leakage test if its good. You might have bad radiator, water pump, or fan clutch(if overheats in idle only).
I worked on a 96 3 series the dealer changed 2 fan clutches
we took the radiator out and the lower radiator hose was higher than the lowest part of the radiator split the radiator it was clogged below the outlet.
very good información bro💯💯💯💯👍👍
Thanks for Video, it helped a lot!! My problem was, that the car wasn't heating inside the cabin at all - hot air wasn't blowing out of the vents, only cold air. Now it is solved!
Car: E39 1997 M52 engine
why the hell are you using Alian Green Blood?!?!? your saposed to be using Bmw Approved Coolant...... Or atleast Pentofrost NF...
I don't have the plastic thermostat housing mine is aluminum n no matter how hard I try I can't get the screw loose where the top radiator hose is connected. I also broke my radiator cap bought a new one n now its seeping coolant from under the cap. What should I do now. Cap doesn't seem to fit right n the bleeder screw at top of coolant tank won't get tight. Look like it's stripped in their n car overheating too
1 Question , i have an E39 525 TDS , i changed the whole motor , water pump ,etc . But the mechanic put in WATER, i think its distilated tough .. but i see it a lil muddy, and every time i get out of my car , its like , or is just my impression, to much heat coming from underneat the motor , or the motor itself, ... But it never gets passed MID temperature. I want to bleed out the water and put some good coolant, do you recomend to do it a couple of times with water first to get rid of some muddy ugly water ? P.S , i live in SPAIN , here is no SNOW , or 0º C .. never below 0.. So its preatty hot every day.
What about this stream in tank? Is he always during motor working?
My 98 528i is overheating after driving for a while when it's warm out and it will go back to normal temp if the heat is on full blast so if I do this will it help my situation?
Verynice video
@bigplanner On the middle of your dashboard Air vents. is the nozzle turn up to red or the nozzle turn down to blue. That could prevent your hot air from blowing in your car. Air bubbles will cause your car to heat up a little above normal. causing problems to your climate control unit. Like not working properly.
Do you know if air bubbles in my radiator can be the reason my heat isn't working? Even when I put it on full blast the fan doesn't even blow.
@bigplanner I had the same problem Sometimes my heater will not work. it will work randomly before by me fixing my Cooling system. I solve my AC and heater problem. And replace my climate control unit.TIP: Turn your car on then turn on your heater for five minutes. Then turn off your car Without turning down the heater. Then turn your car back on to see If your car starts blowing out hot air. For some reason that works for me before I fixed my Cooling system.
is this required for just topping up your radiator , my bleed screw snapped off and i replaced with a newy and topped it up with 300 ml , surelly it isnt required for that
Thanks
So I have my fan on and everything but my coolant won’t go down and there isn’t anything coming out my bleed screw
Can I use the car ramps to raise the front end
I have a 95 BMW 325i and I just replaced the head gasket and its still over heating and I have took the thermostat out and still nothing could u help me
so if i lift front of the car it will bleed faster ?..
Your thermostat is broken. It's a valve that opens and closes your coolant lines depending on the temperature of your coolant, but since yours is stuck closed, your engine over heats.
Yes and no when adding coolant you may fill it incorrectly and get air into your system if your thermostat goes bad and you open your tank and don't see coolant you have air In your system
I need help on my 2001 530i BMW please if their is any way I can contact you to explain what is going on with it it would be nice thanks
nice bro! i live on a hill so this works better for me! i'll go out and this right now. mu upper radiator hose is still too firm when the engine is hot! thanks!!
Oh and by the way I'm in Jamaica West Indies so thermostat is not really good for the temperature here cuz we don't really have cold weather
I have a 528i is it the same process?
So can i burp my 2003 marauder the same way
so do you do this while the car is running with the heater on?
Or do you heat the car up till operating temp turn it off loosen the bleeder screw so you can then open the resevoir cap and then start the process?
all the dash lights are on so I'm gonna assume its off
+egallardo0294 it off
Hey I own a 2001bmw 540I and I don't have that second screw you opened on the hose there. Also do you have an email or something I can contact you for some help..car seems to be overheating like in one of your previous videos but slightly different.
One bleeder screw is sufficient. Have you done recent cooling system work on the car? If so, sounds like you have an air pocket in the system.
Do you leave around los Angeles? I have a question about my car
Are you running the engine when filling the radiator?
What is that beside the drain tank that u opened a little bit
It is a valve to get air out of your system
So my car has been overheating, the upper radiator hose would be hot and the Lower radiator hose would be swollen cold, I took it to a mechanic and they told me it was a blown headgasket but it wouldn't overheat but the temp would go high almost to F and than the temp would drop
Hi I have a 2001 525i and she just started over heating, the expansion tank was replaced and just today i tried to replace some coolant and drove about a mile and on the way back it started over heating. When I managed to get it back parked, coolant/steam started escaping from the expansion tank cap. not the bleeder screw. could it be over heating due to air? And why is it leaking from the cap? Please help.
You have air bubble that need to be removed.
Your engine is building up steam pressure causing fluid to exit your expansion tank.
When you have air bubbles it will build up steam pressure causing the expansion tank to explode.
BMW E39 528I Beamer Fanatics Thanks for the info and in such a timely manner, so I'll just follow your video here to remove air bubbles. Thanks again man I have subscribed and thumbs up on your vids!
yes i do 90602
The climate control should be on max temp but lowest setting fan.
Not sure if anyone gives a damn but if you are bored like me atm then you can watch all of the latest movies and series on instaflixxer. Been streaming with my brother lately :)
@Keagan Dominick yup, have been watching on InstaFlixxer for since november myself :D
because? why does the coolant level care what an external heater fan is doing?
it could also be those damn plastic impellers the factory water pump comes with, hence why there is no flow of coolant through the radiator. OR the system it's blocked or clogged, Mixing coolant types it's a big no no.
My car overheats in stop and go traffic with the AC on. I turn heater on full blast and it goes right back to normal. New water pump and thermostat. I never get the steady stream of coolant pouring into res. any ideas? Thank you in advance
Just remove all air bubbles from the cooling system. Just keep adding more coolant and remove all air bubbles.
One or both of your fan is not working.
The car doesn't have to be running to do that?
Is your engine on the whole time in this video or what?
help pls!!!!!!!
does anybody know how to remove air lock out of my e36 m3?
Red, blue, green, pink, yellow. Seriously guys. It doesn't matter on the coolant. Just make sure it doesn't have sulfates in it.
Joseph Taylor , it does matter with a bmw , the blue ones "coats" the inside of the engine to protect it from any harm , while the green ones helps it to prevent rust or oxidations inside ur engine , but it differ based on the kind of engine u have .. peace :)
Soner d.
Huh, didn't know that. This post is old, I didn't know what I was talking about back then. Now I just know never to mix the two
Joseph Taylor , i dont say these stuff to break you bro , i just want you to know the truth :) , yeah definitly dont mix them :d
Joseph Taylor true and don't mix them lol
Man it's so difficult to get demo vids or instructions for my E39 engine with the white coolant reservoir on the right (Euro 530d Saloon 1999) :(
It should be the same process of removing air bubbles
Mr. I do as you say 1st time z good but after that when the car is stopped the temp. Rising agean????
How i fix that. Always like that or what i do
Aswering me quickly plzzz
It could be that you have an air bubble in the cooling system. Or it could be that your fan clutch is not working. I would check these before anything
hey i have replaced , the water pump, thermostat, thermostat sensor , radiator and fan clutch. and i have bled my car out multiple times. i can drive for about 10 minutes and my car starts overheating slowly . i go to check my car engine it is still fine, what could be my problem????? could you please help
Joe Jones
Check your radiator.
Is the bleeder valve on the bottom of the radiator open ? Or closed ?
thats a drain not a bleeder
Yea ur gonna wanna leave that one open while u add coolant..
My upper radiator hose pops off radiator after about 15 seconds of car running... What is the problem? Blown head gasket or air in the system?
Check your engine mounts
I am yawning now :s
Would this work on my 96 328is ?
Your 328is doesn't have the lower bleeder screw of the thermostat housing. Search RUclips for "Bleeding the air out.wmv" by flyfishvt11 . That's the video I used to do my '97 328is
Omg the coolant fluid should be blue jezzz
Hey I just changed my expansion tank because the last one had a crack, and I filled this one up 3 days ago and it said low coolant yesterday, so I brought more coolant and it says low coolant again today. Theres no leaks, im suppost to bleed it for it to not keep doing this or what am I to do?
Keep adding more coolant if you did the air bubble removal properly. Look for any antifreeze leaking from under the vehicle
thank I just filled it while the car was on and the bubbles came from out the top then it stop bubbling. I think I solved the problem thanks a lot.
Can we add normal tap water a bit?
IT'S NOT RECOMMEND, BUT I DO BECAUSE TAPWATER HAS CHEMICALS THAT EAT UP YOUR ENGINE
Hey I have a 97 528I that just started overheating on me. I found air in the system but why is there air in the system when I havnt done anything to my coolant system
The water doesn't evaporate after a while.
That's why it's good to check your water level after every oil change.
Thank you. But I found my water was low. Still don't know why but my e39 is all good for now
Keep an eye on it for a couple of weeks. if the water level the same there's no problem.
Will do! I have another question about the alarm system. When I dis arm the car. The alarm will siren.
If you disconnect the cord from under the hood the alarms is still ON and working
the fan doesn't have to be on just the heat, also the real BMW fluid is blue
Eric sin sinner , bro ur fan has to be on , even he highest level , because this was my fault at first trial.. u have , besides the actual waterpump, a small electrical pump witch pumps your coolant trough the inter core ( ur small radiator in ur dash) and u can only activate this pump by switching the fan on , the higher the fanspeed the better... peace :)
Soner d.
OH my GOD I was wrong thanks so much, ill go get my air bubbles out now
Eric sin sinner , look , i dont care whos right or wrong , i just want you to prevent damage to your car... i had the overheating problem because of this "small" detail.. my ignition wasnt even on at that time.. but now i even start the car and leave the fan speed at the highest level.. ( of course the heat at max) peace bro

Did you use the bleeder near the fill tube?Soner d.
Is the car on when u do this
Yes Jose exactly what I need to know fuck!!!
Paveli Makaveli no just the hot air on
Thanks for the videos man. They're really helpful. But can you speak LOUDER? That will make the video even better. I notice you say "Pretty Much" like ever other sentence... why?
Hi, I'm working on my 97 540I, is this the same bleed procedure as mine? Anything I should know? I have the stealers recommended blue coolant. I know I can use the other stuff, but I have to use this up first. Any who, is there anything different I should know?
Any coolant you feel happy with using is good. Just do as shown on video and you should be okay
Repair Fanatic reAd the first thread I posted bout having aluminum housing and water seeping from up under coolant tank cap I bought. Wasn't having this problem with old cap
how high should it be lifted
When the tires are Just off the ground
Repair Fanatic please tell me if your car engine is on here in the video or not?
Do u just blow the heat with it off or on?
Paveli Makaveli my car Engine is not on. my key is turned forward to the accessory position were only the power is on
Is the engine light on on your vehicle.
Is there white smoke coming out of your exhaust pipe. I will believe that Something is clogged. Where the waters is not moving. Facebook me.
never understood the business of jacking up the front of the car, all the physical relationships of the cooling system are unchanged and the radiator top is the highest point anyway.
is the car on
No
Could air in the system cause it to overheat?
YES'
And my screw on the hose is stuck can I just open the other one?
@@AKCD35 YES THAT HOW I DO IT ALL THE TIME.
You re using the wrong coolent, You should be using BLUE COOLENT for ALL BMW's...
Itsthe jez The blue coolant is just a trademark for BMW. You can use anything you want
what's The other screw ???
Victor Moreno that's the bleeder screw
Repair Fanatic isn't the bleeder screw next to the radiator cap
Victor Moreno there's two of them
Repair Fanatic ohh okay I have that one on top, and another on the bottom of the radiator
I'm no expert, but most of the BMW experts say that you should only use the red BMW type coolant in these cars. BMW will not cover any warranty claims with green fluid in their cars that result in damage. When you have a $50K car, why not put $20 BMW coolant in, instead of the $10 stuff?
That's what I use in my car. the actual BMW coolant.
an e39 a $50k car? do you actually understand why you should use BMW coolant? is their aluminium, steel and plastic so different from everyone elses?
That car doesn't use green coolant. It requires European formula that is Blue...
YOU CAN USE ANY COOLANT THAT YOU WANT, JUST DON'T MIX THEM, THE BLUE COOLER IT JUST COPYRIGHT FOR BMW
Is the engine on?
No. The key is turned forward to the accessory position
Repair Fanatic what is the point of the heater being on?
@@coltonc8367 I guess it is to keep the liquid flowing through the system.
Never put the green antifreeze in your bmw! Only blue or red! He'll be replacing that radiator before to long!!!
wrong antifreeze
Dude... what is that green shit? Only use BMW blue coolant.
