  • No more car overheating Finally figured out why. Don't use stop leak chemicals in your radiator Eventually it will catch up to you. It will stop water from flowing Through the radiator and motor properly. And start to cause random overheating
    And completely contaminate your cooling system.

    A good tip on e46,e39 and many more models: When the needle is in the middle dont allways mean its stable on operating temp. It works on a pretty stupid way, From like 60 celsius to 115 its are steady as a rock! Even when temperature rises up to 115 degrees and a piss from overheating the engine, its are right in the middle! Over 116 it start to move, 120 and the system starts to boil. So where careful and have your eyes on the temperature gauge.

  • @BeamerFanaticsE39E90

    @richard candelaria Do not use stop leak it will Cause more problems. If it's not leaking from the holes in the bottom it's leaking from the radiator between the radiator in the plastic. You might need a new radiator or get your radiator rebuilt

    @cushking209 Yes Just replaced the thermostat Cover. And yes you will need to get out the air bubbles. Are you will have random overheating while idling. Use any antifreeze

    • @MindHunger
      @MindHunger 2 месяца назад

      No, you cannot use any antifreeze in the M54 engine. Use only the BMW Blue antifreeze or you risk corroding your cooling system.

    If your car is over heating but not mixing water with oil do you still need to replace the head gasket.

    i have a 97 528i and it started heating up when i opened up the hood i noticed a masive leak coming from the thermostat housing. should i just change the housing? do you think that could also cause anymore issues? what coolant should i use to refill it? do i have to bleed the air out after i finish?

    This is a very common problem for 1997 BMW 528i, according to web searches. Mine has the overheating problem since I bought it in 2009. So, I should do a radiator flush and have the radiator cleaned out?

    My friends E39 525TDS 160.000mls overheated, it was a water pump failure, the plastic impeller shattered, common fault on a load of BMWs, also seat occupancy mat fails lighting the air bag warning, this is common to all models,

    Hey I have a question and hopefully you can help. How much coolant does the vehicle need, it's a 1997 bmw 528i ... Do you have to top it off to the line that the container in the car has...the black line. I'm taking a road trip tomorrow Nd wanted to know how much it has because right now it's below the line

    Hey, I've also had experienced the a similar problem but more along the lines of having a leak in one of the hoses placement (I think the shop placed my housing on wrong or something when they're changing the thermostat). I own a 99' 528i and earlier this year I've experienced a leak in my coolant resviour similar (thus casuing it to overheat) to the in the video but it's a little smaller and I went ahead got it fixed. After a week or so, My car was overheatting again due to a thermostat (temperature gauge stayed atleast over the red marker everthing it was on more than 30+ minutes), so i replaced that. After replacing the thermostat the temperature gauge stayed neutral for a good 3-4 months. Then again my car started overheatting due to a hose leak (the hose came undone when i was driving down the highway and the silver-metal piece went loose on the two hoses that held it together, the two hoses came undone thus causes the coolant leak everywhere by this time my car was overheatting badly, smoke coming out of the oil cap and the expanding hose that you were talking about; it became really hard and really hot. I bought duck tape to tape the two hoses together, waited over 24 houses to drive again drove atleast a mile and half before it happened again but the temperature gauge was over the red but the car wasn't smoking.(Hoses were hot and hard) Then again i waited for 24 hours to cool down the car then I bought silver metal aligning piece(fittings) to connect the hoses and it started to overheat again according to the temperature gauge it shows it going over the red but it's not steaming or nothing? What should i do? The hoses got hot and hard just as it happened before. Any ideas?

    Just dont go poking anything with a screwdriver, because if you slip or go too deep will poke holes and damage a lot more money to fix. Hoses radiators and other parts are very fragile and will leak coolant.

    Dear Friend, I just bought a S/H, BMW E39 528i 1998 Model, The Car is Overheating after Running it for about 10 Minutes on The Road, Approx 15 to 20 Kilometres, I opened The Books on The Service records, The Head was Changed at 205 Kilometers The Cat has Got 214800 Kilometers on The Dash,
    , I believe the Previous owner or his Mechanic has Put Some Stop Leak Chemical in The Radiator, , I just got a New Thermostat and a New Water Pump Replaced by a Friend as I dont know any Mechanical Work, My Friend Just Replaced the Thermostat, and The Water Pump, and Bled The Hose Lines from The Radiator, , I got into the Passenger seat and my Friend Drove the Car for about 15 to 20 Kilometres, and When Stopped at The Lights, for a Minute or 2, The Car started getting overheated again The Temperature Needle went to The RED , He then Drove slowly to His Place which was about 2 Kilometers away, Stopped the Car, and Said that let it COOL down first, He Suspects that The Chemical Put in The Radiator could block some of The Radiator Cores, Any idea What else I can do to stop the Overheating, My friend plans to Pull the Radiator out and Get it Cleaned up on The Week end, Any idea what else can he Check before replacing The Radiator, you Mentioned something About Heater Plugs Where are they Placed on The Block and how Many of Them are There on the 528 i.
    Your Help will be greatly Appreciated, As i am a retired AGED Pensioner and don't have any more money to spend.
    Your advice will be gratefully appreciated.
    Kind Regard's

      Let your car idle turn on your heater when it starts to overheat. Let your car cool down then you can check the coolant and add some if necessary.

    I have a 2002 bmw 530i wit 189,000 miles on it. I been driving it for 5mo no problem until today, it started to overheat. The day before I notices a leak seem to be from the radiator. Anyways I got the car home, let it cool off, put water in the radiator, ran it for 10 minutes until it started to overheat but there was no noticeable leak. The water was boiling n bubling in the radiator. I turned it off and let it sit four hours, still dont see exactly where the leak is but the radiator was empty. I need help asap! Please give me a diagnosis and a solution. Hope it's nothing major!

    Great video, but please get to the point. You start explaining and then go off to another point. So let me ask, my car overheats (00 528i) but it does idle fine, no overheating. I'll be cruising then it goes hot. I'll turn the heater on and it goes back to normal (12 o'clock position) I've replace the radiator, the thermostat, fan clutch, etc. It's cooler outside when it overheats, 55-60 degrees. Great ventilation. What the hell could it be? Why does it go fine when the heater is turned on? But not when I'm driving with it off. Takes a lil while (about 20 min) to start overheating but the ONLY way to get it cooler id by switching on the heater...Thanks in advance...

    • @BeamerFanaticsE39E90
      @BeamerFanaticsE39E90  7 лет назад

      Andy Micheli you have air bubbles in your cooling system. Just remove the air bubbles and you should be fine. If that's not your case it is your thermostat that's not opening all the way.
