The most difficult part of doing fiberglass work in Florida is that you have 0.00382 seconds before it starts to kick because it's so damn hot out, I speak from experience 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Reminds me of the structural restoration of my boat. I have a 1960 Glasspar Citation. It was completely dry rotted, the deck, the stringers and the transom. It got re-engineered and rebuilt with a thicker deck, massively reinforced transom, added a bilge and a super beefy bulkhead under the deck under the front seats. Today the deck feels as solid as concrete, I've never found so much as a drop of water when I pull the plugs from the bilge, and when I give it the beans, it jumps out of the water and up on plane in an instant. It's a great old boat, cute as hell. I had the upholstery professionally redone back to 1960 original. I love that boat.

Sometimes if you have a narrow gap between a panel and a backer, you can shove a deflated wheel barrow inner tube in between and then inflate it to help pop it free.

Definitely going to check out your training on the website but a quick question first, could you split the top cap and bottom at the rub rail and do all these repairs that way? I'm not second guessing your work im honestly trying to learn.

You are tenacious man. That's a huge project. I couldn't do it 😂. Id be giving that thing an overhaul. Flip it over and haul it to the dump😂. Your the bomb for doing this video though. A lot of people are willing to take this on. I unfortunately live in an HOA because I was stupid enough to buy a house in an HOA. I have 48 hrs to work on my boat before I have to take it back to storage for at least a couple days before I can bring it back for another 48 hrs. It sucks I'm moving at a ridiculous pace trying to get stuff done and done right in the Florida Tarzan heat and humidity. My boat is bright white and it's like a frigging giant tanning bed and oven. I have to turn the bilge pumps on to pump the gallons of sweat pouring out of me 😂 . Takes 3 days just to rehydrate 😂. My neighbors frigging hate me😅

Thanks a bunch for the support and the laugh! It sounds like you've got quite the adventure with your boat, battling the elements and the infamous Florida heat and humidity. Don't worry, we're all in this together. Keep cool, stay hydrated, and keep those bilge pumps pumping! 😄

I have a whitewater boat that I just acquired.. it's a 2005 17ft cc ... no soft spots in the floor and the transom seems really solid .. but I'm still worried if it water logged because it seems like was poorly taken care of .. It's a really cool hull tho.. I have no idea about how white water stringers are constructed .. been trying to research as much as possible .. have not had the boat in the water yet to see how it floats .. it may not need to get refoamed at all .. but I'm trying to see what kinda job fixing fiberglass boat is... lol it looks like work .. but idk im up for it if it needs it. .. I also am gonna re gel coat the boat ... I'm really hoping my boat isn't water logged ... because re-gel coating looks like a lot of work too .. the less work the better .. hopefully it's just a matter of re-applying a gel coat

The big question is, “how much does the resin cost along with the other supplies?“ as an old guy who has been restoring boats enjoying boats flipping boats and loving them for over 60 years, Born again boating is perfect with its double meaning intact.
Boat values fluctuate dramatically between January and June. Of course January is the time to buy even if you live in Wisconsin, Michigan, or Minnesota.

Will that foam gradually soak up water if the boat has a little crack in the fiberglass and is left in the water? I just got a 30 foot catamaran where someone filled the bottom foot of the pontoons with foam and laid a fiberglass floor over that. Should I cut out all that foam and put in a proper bilge pump? Or is the foam going to be OK?
