    Always do the weedless hack no point in not doing it 💯.
    Sometimes I'll use a bigger head so the hook protrudes out the back. I mostly only do that in Lake Erie especially if I decide to troll a tube.

    They also sell spiral attachments (just started fishing) that help make this easier. Great video for new ways to save a bit of money and still get a Texas rig

    Not sure how much lead I would be licking. WD-40 works great and leaves some old fashion scent.

      I used to use WD40 all the time back in the day 😊 Works. It's mostly made of fish oil.

      Tubes are great and there is a reason all the old timers used them. I guess they faded out because they don't seem as cool anymore.

    A longtime friend who used to catch a LOT of Bass on tubes tells me he doesn't use them anymore because the fish prefer newer styles of baits than tubes....
    Since WHEN did Bass learn to read..?
    I still use Tubes and guess what...
    THEY STILL CATCH LOTS OF BASS... 🤔😎

    I just put the head of the jif head up threw the tube and pushed the eye threw the body. .works good for me ..lot simpler

    If you cut the back wall of the tube it really helps the hook up ratio too, less plastic to go through

    What i usually do is shove the head in first from the bottom then I push it to the top while the hook is on the in side then put the hook through the tube

    Thank you for making the video but I personally am very hard troubles with this because when you first go in and you make your second hole it always splits all the way through especially when a fish is on it's a good idea but I only have to do another one all over again maybe he teaches how to not make them split

      I mean I fish freshwater (and landlocked) rivers and have found the trout to be finicky and cautious about biting much of anything, I got an old saltwater octopus pattern tube I'll have to tie up and throw in to see how they react if I go fishing before I pick up some tubes out of curiosity now.
      I think I've got some sea trout on it before down in Florida though, wonder if their freshwater cousins have the same appetite for cephalopods lol.

    Anyone think bugs like bandito bugs are actually more effective then tubes for largemouth? Tubes are so much easier to use and last much longer.

    I got a two pack of these random tubes kinda like that. But it's pre-hooked and it's red and white, also designed to look like a fish kinda.
    Don't know nothing about it.

      Indeed. However I don't think theses tubes are used for largemouth bass, I got them in a mystery tackle box.

      I actually fish it like a jig. I'll throw under docks, laydowns, pitch near logs. If they don't hit it on the fall, I'll give it a pop-pop which makes it dart one way or the other. Drop it in shallow water and pop it, you'll see what I mean.

      You'd be surprised how well it worms. I use tubes from Secret Lures and they are soft and have a good hook up ratio. There have been plenty of times when a bass or crappie on grab the tails and never get the hook in their mouth.

      Tube is made by Snack Daddy Lures, I buy them in a bag of 100. If fish them on any and every body of water.

      when the fish clamps down on it, the point of the hook is exposed, then when you set the hook it gets em

    Uh.. I just take the jughead and go straight up the tube to the top, pop the eyelit out and keep the hook exposed.. if you prefer it weedless then skin hook it..

      I mean as long as you're not swallowing the spit and do a quick water rinse afterwards you'll be fine, heavy metal particles have an odd affinity to being attracted to moving water and surface tension. You're probably at a higher risk of heavy metal toxicity from consuming large fish with mercury buildup than you are from handling lead weights over the years, assuming you do the bare minimum of a swish n spit or rinse your hands in cool water after handling.
