I wanted Debo to try some new lures but wasn't expecting "the tube". Thanks for sticking with it and showing us how to rig it properly. It might be that big bulbous round head on the tube that's bumping their mouth open before the hook can get them. I love seeing new lures in the channel.
Hey Debo, I do like the tube. I’ve always had good results in the creeks fishing for smallies. Haven’t really used it much in ponds. Good to see you giving it a go.👊
Been fishing the stupid tube for a few years now on the rivers for smallies. It’s been a game changer. The snag-proof aspect is important of course but the way the bait moves in the water is a big advantage. I order my heads from ACT Lures.
Started using the stupid tube a couple years ago and it’s a great addition and gives the fish something different and have had some great days using it. Might even give Randy some competition with his jig 😊
I've bought the hooks, and the baits, but never rigged one up. I would fish it like you did, braid to leader, and maybe I'll try it this week. Thanks Debo. ✌️😎🎣
I picked up a few tubes. Have only thrown the stupid tube a few times time with no luck. I'd rather throw a neko or ned. So many techniques... so little time!!
@MaineStreamFishing too often I spend a whole day trying something new only to give up and go back to what I know to finish a trip to try and get a few bites. It gets me really nervous when it comes to trying new things.
When fish are biting, They will most definitely slam the tube. More so than other bottom baits. The subtlety of the tube seems to make the fish bite a little bit more confidently then baits That push around a lot of water. I’ve done some experiments myself and slowly drag tube out fishes many other of my favorite bottom baits. They don’t ask questions they just inhale it. Lol
Great to see the different day adjustments. I plan on trying a tube on the hover rig from Core, just to get that presentation perhaps a bit more of a glide as well. Great video Debo!
Hey Debo! Great video of the "Stupid Tube". I first starting using a tube going back at least 25 to 30 years ago when I was in University and fishing with an old friend on Lake St Clair on the Canadian side. I still use them to this day on the big water near me which is Lake Simcoe here in Ontario. I still fish them wih the open hook on clear water days but really want to use the stupid tube on the natural lakes I fish where we have a ton of weeds. I am of the mind set if everyone else is using a Ned then I want to use something different. Keep at it and definitely go braid to leader as the "stretch" with straight fluoro is still too much to get the hook to stay pegged with so much plastic balled up in the fishes mouth. If you can do a video of all the ways you rig the tube that would be cool as well. Will be hitting the water this Sunday for some big ol Perch as the Perch run is goin on like Donky Kong! HAHA
I’ve never ever used a soft plastic Tube but it looks fun and it’s nice being the only one out on the Water in a good spot. I also noticed the amazing Benchmade Adamas lol my Son got me one for Fathers Day one year and I love it.
I got some of the phoenix tube glider weights because that hook Debo is using only comes in a 3-0 which I'm finding is just a tiny too big of a hook for standard 3.5 in tubes. The glider weight allows you to rig the tube with a fusion 2/0 ewg because they have a longer neck. This allows you to still fish it weedless with the same death spiral fall. They're FIRE!
Hey Debo, I have never fished the stupid tube, but I fish the traditional tube year round and the largemouth eat it up. And the hookup is a lot better than the stupid tube. And there are a lot of different ways to fish it. Very versatile.
I’ve always loved tubes! Similarly I’ve always fished it on a weedless swimbait EWG Hook. I think it looks more like Crayfish than an actual crayfish imitation plastic. I think it is a forgotten bait. Maybe not forgotten but overshadowed. Much like the spinnerbait since the Chatterbait came out. Hope you’re well sir. Good to see you out again. PS- you are the President and Vice President of the Beard of The Month Club. Love it man! 👊
The tube is one of those lure that I forget about when fishing. One thing that I do is rub the tube before using it to reduce the shine of the plastic and mute it. The great lake finesse tube already comes more dull, and I'm looking forward to trying it out next week. Keep catching those dinks.
Yes, definitely fish a stupid tube especially in my river and my lake also! Like the thinner hooks easier to penetrate unless I’m going with heavier and larger tubes. Have to rewatch missed your rod and reel setup. Enjoy your time on the water but kids and grandkids definitely take priority.
Tubes work really well for me. I had similar hookup issues until I tried the Trokar Tube hook recommended by Tyler Berger. One of my confidence baits at this point, always can get a few bites on it.
Excellent video Debo. Funny that you are doing a tube video because I've never caught a fish on a tube, but my 9 year old great grandson caught a nice bass on one Saturday ,go figure! Lol
I feel the bending the hook side ways creates an axis and makes it difficult to transfer the power thru the shank as it pivots. I just make sure I have enough gap and stay linear. Also set hook up and hold as you reel
I’ve had the most success with the tube jig on the stupid tube jighead and spinning tackle. Snap the rod up hard and let it fall on slack line back down. It will spiral down causing strikes. Use just enough weight on a jighead to allow a slow sink.
Switching to the secret tube stupid tube hook made the difference for me. Once I switched to that hook my hook up ratio improved. Love the tube for current or rock.
I fish them all the time. I just slide it in so the hook is fully exposed. I am amazed at how little it gets snagged. I tried the stupid tube rig method and didn’t find any advantage over the fully exposed method. They will catch every thing that is out there. I use straight floro on a spinning rod. Used braid to floro as well, seemed about the same for hookup ratio. Trying to find a good tube hook off the shelf is a challenge.
Stupid tube from gramps caught me a 5-6 lb in pads. No scale and tape measure only went to 19in... but around 21 inches as close as I could tell. Thanks Gramps and yes keep trying them so I have more data. When u getting out on that yak?
Debo, I need help 😢. I participated in 2 tournaments in April and only caught 1 dink here in Iowa! I tried everything but this year seems so tough! I did well last year in the same spots. Weather has been terrible and water low. Hoping May will be much better with warmer weather and the rain filling up the lakes now.
I think the biggest issue is the plastic. I've used the stupid tube as well as the yum tube and haven't had any issues, but those are both soft. Hell, I even hooked a gar on the tube, so I know it works weedless.
I like 90° weighted jig heads with just an exposed round bend hook in my tubes. Texas rigging it with a sliding sinker is fun. When I’m feeling goofy and experimental i Texas rig it weightless with a bit of foam in the head and fish it topwater 🤘🏽😆♥️
Probably the third video on stupid tubes I’ve watched today. This was the only one that really showed you how. The other videos by pros, moves too fast. With that said, I think I prefer Texas rigged with a worm spike in the head. Caught a beautiful smallie the other day using that one
I've brought the tube back into my lineup but I'm missing almost all the bites. Back in the 80's, I used a 3/0 Gamagatsu EWG hook 11:52 on a 3&3/4 in tube, 20 lb test and a 6'6" medium heavy rod and didn't have any problems. I'm 83 now with a weaker hookset but I'm less than 10 feet away. Based on this limited info, do you have any suggestions I can hang my hat on ? I'm really frustrated!
I rigged it more like a Texas rigged with a small weight pegged on the outside of the bait. I find flipping a tube a lot of fun and gets bit when other flipping style baits may have run their course on a body or water.
I know next time I get to hit the river fishing in the kayak I will have a stupid tube rigged up. Open hooks are nice but just get tired of always getting caught and breaking off so it's the stupid tube for me.
Today I went out and was the first one on the fishing dock , it’s a T shape , so I went there and went to the left side , ALL THE WAY LEFT , and here comes a father and son , as I finish getting my lures tie on and was standing there about to cast , the kid comes and stand like 2 feet from me on my right , even before I can cast , I turn and look at the father and he was on his cellphone .. I gave him the stare like “aren’t you going to say something “, but the guy was just in his own world 😡. The dock is like 50 feet long and 40 feet at the T , and yet the kid was just standing 2 feet from me , making casting hard . Of course it didn’t help that second cast and I got a fish
It's like every other artificial on heavily pressured water. The fish learn very quickly when they see boat after boat throwing the same lure. Whoever said fish only have a 15 minute memory must be tackle salesman or have never lived on the water.
I have I think 3 Strike King Lizard tube w, a solid head that u use for bed fishing, pardon me. But u can’t seem to find them anymore! I know I bought like 15-20 bags yrs and yrs ago. Anyone jnow the Tune I’m talking bout? I don’t have the original bag. Way to bang em out #debo
I tried the stupid tube for the first time today caught 5 fish biggest was 3.72 was on,y out for about an hour then the bite died due to a family of otters swimming the shore line 😡
Why rig a stupid tube when you can Texas rig one? You don't have to buy any special jigs and you use the same hooks and weights for other soft plastics. I guess I don't see the advantage of stupid tube over a Texas rigged tube.
May I suggest taking the stupid tube, rather than making the slit down one side of the belly, you take it, and lay it aside, pick up a lure that catches more fish !
I wanted Debo to try some new lures but wasn't expecting "the tube". Thanks for sticking with it and showing us how to rig it properly. It might be that big bulbous round head on the tube that's bumping their mouth open before the hook can get them. I love seeing new lures in the channel.

Bro i feel the same way… i get a day off and i have tackle anxiety! Lmaoo im like what should i try!!
@MaineStreamFishing too often I spend a whole day trying something new only to give up and go back to what I know to finish a trip to try and get a few bites. It gets me really nervous when it comes to trying new things.
@@chrisrus53 i start with new stuff and then fall back if im not getting bites
I just started fishing the stupid tube. I really like it. Thanks for the tip on the hook bend. I've lost a few and will give that a try.

I've never fished it but I've heard of it. Your video has sparked my interest. Fingers crossed works!

Why? Fish love shiny, bright, and smooth baits and lures.
I want to try those Owner Phantom hooks. Gotta look to see if Punch has done an in-depth video on them.
Did some tube crakin on one of the harbors on Lake Michigan and got my a nice size smallie. They are fighters! Lol
Have you ever tried pumping a little fish lure inside the hollow tube jig enjoy the video thanks
100% words using the stupid tube that's what I've been using . And the results are amazing. Thanks for another great video
Shoot, you tore it up, debo that's awesome, and I'm about to go try a tube on a Texas rig tomorrow. Awsome video too🎣💯
Tubes work really well for me. I had similar hookup issues until I tried the Trokar Tube hook recommended by Tyler Berger. One of my confidence baits at this point, always can get a few bites on it.
Great video. Def been wanting to learn more about the stupid tube. Something I've been wanting to try.
I just picked up some strike king coffee tubes from Amazon with some tube jig heads so we will see how they do. My first time tubing.
Excellent video Debo. Funny that you are doing a tube video because I've never caught a fish on a tube, but my 9 year old great grandson caught a nice bass on one Saturday ,go figure! Lol
It’s funny because it’s the same way for my dad. He never fishes but can slay on a tube. I just never throw them
You know your boy Scott is tuning in you the man Deebs, I miss Randizzle
Neds & tubes ftw!! More content for both for sure.
I feel the bending the hook side ways creates an axis and makes it difficult to transfer the power thru the shank as it pivots. I just make sure I have enough gap and stay linear. Also set hook up and hold as you reel
I’m gonna have to give this a whirl. In the past I’ve done well with a backward Yamamoto Fat Ika , similar appearance.
Love the tube. Sometimes just dragging it works great
I’ve had the most success with the tube jig on the stupid tube jighead and spinning tackle. Snap the rod up hard and let it fall on slack line back down. It will spiral down causing strikes. Use just enough weight on a jighead to allow a slow sink.
Beard game is going hard Debo. Might pick up some tubes after watching this
Switching to the secret tube stupid tube hook made the difference for me. Once I switched to that hook my hook up ratio improved. Love the tube for current or rock.
I also am trying to get better with tubes. Poured my ewg on the do-it molds tube jig. Still trying

Good video Debo 🤛. I also fish a flat tube
Maybe rigging the hook point on the side of the bait vs through the whole thing? Similar to a punch rig. Just a thought
I’m trying to up my tube game this year. The fam and I are headed to the NY finger lakes and hoping to land some smallies on the tube
Did you hookset to the side because you bent that hook out? Just an observation!
I love that spinning combo
Stupid tube from gramps caught me a 5-6 lb in pads. No scale and tape measure only went to 19in... but around 21 inches as close as I could tell. Thanks Gramps and yes keep trying them so I have more data.
When u getting out on that yak?
You think a 5/0 flipping hook would have a better hook up ratio? Tear up the tu e after one fish most likely though
I just smoked some great small mouth out of our local river today using a black and blue coffee flipping tube.
I’ve been throwing a tube quite a bit lately. Versatile bait for sure
I think the biggest issue is the plastic. I've used the stupid tube as well as the yum tube and haven't had any issues, but those are both soft. Hell, I even hooked a gar on the tube, so I know it works weedless.
I got some zman tubez to put on ned rig hooks havent been out to see how they do but i have high hopes

Instead of a medium heavy, I would go a 7”0-7”3 heavy action rod. And would use 17-20 lb fluorocarbon.
I Texas rig my tubes and use a regular tube hook do not miss strikes !!
And yes, keep fishing the tube. I pick two lures/techniques every year. This year is tubes and underspins
Try using a medium moderate or fast spinning rod
Nice! I like it, I like a lot.
More tube fishing! I fish them to the great skunk god. I like 'em though.
I rigged it more like a Texas rigged with a small weight pegged on the outside of the bait. I find flipping a tube a lot of fun and gets bit when other flipping style baits may have run their course on a body or water.
Ever try Gitzit tubes?
I know next time I get to hit the river fishing in the kayak I will have a stupid tube rigged up. Open hooks are nice but just get tired of always getting caught and breaking off so it's the stupid tube for me.
I still have some tubes around but probably haven't fished one in 20 years lol
I think this video helps to illustrate that spinning gear is superior to casting gear. Just kidding “feeshin friends”, but I do love spinning gear.
Is fishing like love?
'Tis better to have felt the bite and miss them than to never have gotten a bite at all?? 😂
Didn't recognize you with the beard so long.
yes on the tube try a different rod for better hook ups
Debo! 🤜🤛

Past three years all my pb largies came off tubes.
Ned rig any day over stupid tube!

I want to see you work that rig but I’ve never thrown a tube.
So every time u need a new tube you have to re-tie. That zooks.
I always have a stupid tube tied on 🎣
Tube....on a drop shot 🤷♂️
I tried the stupid tube for the first time today caught 5 fish biggest was 3.72 was on,y out for about an hour then the bite died due to a family of otters swimming the shore line 😡

Wish you hadn’t made this. Friends ask me what I use. I just tell them, I’m using a soft plastic.
Why do you call it a "stupid tube" ???
I'm sure the inventor is so happy he's compared to the Yamamoto stupid senko?????
I don't understand ???
May I suggest taking the stupid tube, rather than making the slit down one side of the belly, you take it, and lay it aside, pick up a lure that catches more fish !
