  • Nikolas Cruz says he started thinking about shooting up a school as early as 13 or 14 years old, a new interview with a psychiatrist showed. Cruz, who is now 23, talked about doing his own research into mass murders in the years before killing 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, on February 14, 2018.

No reason to rush justice. We need to be cautious when sentencing someone to death, leaving no room for error.
It's overwhelmingly likely that he will be sentenced to death. But there's nothing wrong with having a justice system that allows EVERYTHING to be considered.
This is out of respect of every person who has been misrepresented or falsely convicted, or was sentenced wrongly- I say that not for Cruz, but for the safety of the system at large.

I think a part of the problem is the publicity that the US gives to school shooters / mass shooters …e.g, when I think of columbine and sandy hook, I remember the shooters - their names, images etc, more than the victims, because that’s what the media etc seem to have most reported. The shooters did become famous whether we want to admit it or not. Whereas in my home town in NZ, when I think of the mosque shooting here, I barely think of the shooter/terrorist. The news here (and the prime minister) made a conscious effort not to mention his name or show his photo. (And banned the video livestream as well his manifesto). Unfortunately the US still doesn’t seem to have got the memo that giving mass shooters a ton of publicity is not a good idea.

If you’re referring to the shooter, THIS IS WHY THEY DO IT!
They want the publicity, the notoriety .They don’t want to be famous, they want to be INFAMOUS!
They want everyone to know they have all this control over peoples’ lives. Not only do school shooters wield the power to take lives, but their actions affect others for the rest of their lives.
In the Ethan Crumbly case , he expressed that he wanted to be known as his schools shooter. Now the prosecution won’t use EC’s name in the case against his parents.
They won’t give him that satisfaction.

for example 100 "harmless" jokes on expense of same person, can drive that person completely insane, but others won't ever realize it, because they think their "joke" was completely harmless. it's like throwing tiny bebbles at window and thinking that window will never break, but eventually window will break. you can test this yourself at home, get like 10000 tiny bebbles and start throwing them at same window at same spot, do it enough and window will eventually break. same thing happens to human mind, all those "harmless" jokes and small things will build up and cause someone to go completely mad, specially if you have NOTHING good in your life to balance that bad.

They are looking for any mitigating factors to spare him from the death penalty. Anything like major abuse in his childhood, relevant diagnoses like autism or fetal alcohol syndrome, or that he had some sort of psychosis during the shooting. While they’ve found that he had no psychosis, and it was 100% premeditated and not a spur of the moment decision, or a “crime of passion” so now the defense is trying everything they can to make him look like a child and showcase his abuse as a child and that his mom died just 3 months before the shooting and just be childish to sway the jury into giving him mercy. I’m not an expert just my American take.

Many video games, movies and documentaries in the media are available for teenagers to watch have a lot of violence, murder, hatred, depression... Some of them allow it to get into their heads like he did, which then creates an awful situation. Evil had already taken over his mind as he concocted the 'event' over time.
We should all watch what are children are allowed to watch, and even what they watch secretly with their friends or the places they go.
Family background has major impact usually with these cases.
His mother (adopted him) had died a few months earlier and he has a half brother- Zach that cared and still cares about him.
His life seemed out of control in his behaviour from a very young age. And sometimes that's a warning that further action needs to be taken. Very sad situation.
May he repent and find remorse for his actions realising the grief caused 🙏

    Frank Horrigan: Leary's an assassin.
    Al D'Andrea: Oh, Jesus.

A reason why I don’t like Psychiatrist! With the sentence that when he watched documentries he was thinking more about it. So yes it still can be impulsive, otherwise he would of done this earlier. Sure maybe he also prepared him self, we will never know for sure. Between faszination and actually going in to action is a very thin line. The faszination could of caused him to do research, but still he didn’t do it for years.

For You Trekky Fans out there.....
Yep, Nikolas Cruz is a sociopath. Remember, The Star Trek Voyager Episode - "Meld"....
Ensign Sudor kills a fellow crew member....
TUVOK: I must advise you that under Starfleet Directive one zero one you do not have to answer any questions.
SUDER: No. No, there's no point in denying it anymore. I used a two kilo coil spanner. He was sitting at the impulse system control panel. Didn't even look up when I moved in behind him and I swung the spanner as hard as I could.
TUVOK: Crewman, I suggest you speak to counsel.
SUDER: There was practically no blood. I was surprised at that. I figured that the EPS conduit was the easiest way to dispose of the body, but I must have damaged one of the circuits when I put him inside. Oh, I hid the spanner behind a comm. line access panel on deck seven.
TUVOK: Why did you kill him, Mister Suder?
    SUDER: No reason.
TUVOK: That is not a satisfactory answer. You must have had some motive.
SUDER: I didn't like the way he looked at me.

Blessings to Angi Baugh for you insight. I can’t bear to watch the videos but like to read people’s comments. What is the difference or justification for you killing Cruz vs. Cruz killing? Under impossible stress, men might have a few drinks; women might clean the house twice. Cruz couldn’t find a ‘sensible’ way out of his pain. Then, he found he was good at organizing a revenge. Afterward, he cried - not because he was caught, but because he was sorry and humble. Jail is not a nice place. He’s not like Nikko Jenkins but will be with those who are. Thanks to his attorney, the trial has been harder on him than either penalty will be. While dying can be difficult - for up to seven minutes - “life” in prison is fear and dying every day. According to Socrates, “No one really knows if there is anything after death. If there is, I shall have a good conversation; if not, I shall have a good rest.” Perhaps wishing death for Cruz is quite kind of you. Blessings to all.
