The fact that her boyfriend wore that shirt the day before he died is just gut wrenching. Her wearing that shirt in his honor in this moment shows how strong she truly is.

That hits me right in the soul.. Obviously, it doesn't justify what *he* did, NOTHING could justify that! Not any one thing!
But, it reminds us that we're dealing with a seriously sick *human being* here, a person who started out, like you, or me. He was born a boy, into this world of ours, this Nickolas Cruz..
And I doubt he was always a monster, this boy Nickolas. Long before he decided to go *FAR* off into the wrong path, leading him to shoot and kill other students, he had developed into a broken, horribly troubled and misguided young man because of his horrible upbringing at home, that he just couldn't handle. He really should've gotten help, and it angers me so much, that it got to this point, and that he did what he did, became a monster. It angers me, that his actions, what *HE* did, has claimed so many innocent lives! It really does strike me! It angers me most of all, that if his father would've secured that weapon from his son's reach, Nikolas would not have been able to commit such atrocities!
God be with the victims families! Praying for y'all! 🙏

I completely agree - I feel like hearing all of this anger from the other statements, it probably goes in one ear and out the other, because it’s all the same (not that I don’t understand it or disagree) but… being so much more insightful. Recognizing that he IS a human being, that he probably was suffering many years before he decided to do this, he was lonely, he was hurt - but none of that takes away the fact he decided to impost that hurt onto others. That is so much more intriguing to listen to. I feel like when you believe someone doesn’t understand you, you won’t listen to anything they have to say, cuz they don’t get it. But it sounds like she understood more, and that’s what may have turned his ear (hopefully)

She has the emotional maturity and introspective skills of someone much older than her. It wasn't just her words that were impressive but her conviction in them. That sort of assuredness comes from putting a tremendous amount of thought into what you're speaking about and having no doubt you're correct. She had no hesitation or outward appearance of fear. She was so vulnerable too.
Her life will never be the same but I think she'll be an amazing mother one day, if she so chooses, and wife to some lucky person. Even if she doesn't get married or has children I think she'll enrich the lives of those around her in general.

The cycle needs to break and the only way to do that is by accepting human beings as individuals and not as soilders of society. Cruz was just abandoned and that’s what caused him to warp his mind in a negative direction. True young love. Not only is it a rarity, but it’s the stuff fairy tales are made of. A cynical older person like me often gets caught up in my stupid problems, and they are stupid in comparison to the loss she’s been thru, and she just smacked me in the face with her wise words. She experienced a lifetime of love in the time she spent with Mr. Joaquin. I hope she finds it again in whatever form will help her heal the most. She’s a helper, like Fred Rogers told us to look for when things go wrong. Those are the people who will leave the most important mark on the world. I think when she said she was sorry he never had the love he needed, I saw some emotion from him. Of course he had the mask on, but I think he was emotional because somebody finally noticed. Too late but, still she noticed. Not saying what he did is not wrong, but how many young men are out there like this, still waiting to be acknowledged, before they explode like a time bomb?
