Before you buy any one shake it to be sure it has water inside otherwise it's very old and destroyed.
Less water more old
waseem mu I do the same thing when I’m picking out a chick to bang
Good tip, Waseem Mu. Thank you!
@@bigbthunder9705 Ew
I should have done that when I bought mine, mine didn’t have a lot of water and the whole thing tasted bad
Thanks for this tip, I didn’t know that.
This is the best way I've seen so far. When I tried this method it did't come out as easy as hers, but it came out a lot easier than the way I was doing it before. Maybe it depends on type of coconut as well.
I run over my coconut with my car. Works every time.
lol
Haha wow
🤣😂🤣😂
🤣
🤣🤣🤣
I have tried so many ways over the years to get coconut open without making a giant mess. I just tried your method and it was so simple! Thank you so much! It literally worked just like you said.
Ugh my problem is getting the meat of the shell HELP. ?
OMG thank you! I spend the last hour trying to open a coconut and looking up how to do it. Came across this video and I was able to open my coconut in less then 5 mins. Thank you again!
I find your soaking method works! I tried it this morning and the coconut cracked open within minutes! Wonderful. I can have fresh coconut milk throughout the year! Make sure that tap the mature coconut on the opposite side of the coconut eyes as the area around the eyes are harder while the bottom part of the coconut is softer.
I just watched 100 videos on this subject and yours is just so simple and it works. Thank you for that.☺
Your tutorial was by far the easiest and best way to open a coconut!! Thanks!!
Your instructions were perfectly concise and easy to follow. Thank you
Thank you I tried so many methods and none worked till I tried your moms! Much appreciated my son just got to try his first coconut 🥥🌴
Awesome, thank you! Your enthusiasm is wonderful and fun addition to the instruction!
This is wonderful ways to crack coconut! It works very well. Thanks a lot for your help. You are a great teacher!
You have an excellent stage presence. Nice job.
Thank you for this delightful lesson! We gave up on opening coconuts, when the hammer we were hitting the back of our knife with, caused the knife blade to shatter, loosing pieces of knife blade inside the coconut somewhere. Then trying to pry it open from the crack the knife made, painfully pinched my fingers! (OUCH!!) .... But I just tried your technique from this video, and it works perfectly, and so EASY! Exactly as you show.
You're not going to believe this. I've had a coconut in my refrigerator for two 3 months and I live in Washington State where there are no coconuts. I thought I would try it being a vegan. Well I took it out of the fridge and found your Channel, opened it like you said, but the meat is too hard to get out because I think it's too cold. I'm warming it up in a bowl of warm water. I cannot believe how good the juice is! And it smells delicious! Thank you as this was my first time and it opened just like you said it would. I don't have the right kind of knife so I'll just wait until it's easier to get the meat out. Thank you thank you thank you! Next year I will buy more. I think Markus rothkranz has an ice cream coconut video.
This is the best way to get the meat BUT not the water. For the water you can insert a straw! there are 3 holes on one side of the top of the coconut and you tap all 3 hole and one will be more squishy that the other 2, YOU then tap that with a knife to insert a straw. Thanks!
My LA Life Adventure I use a cork screw to get into the small hole for a straw
no holes, thats in cartoons.
@@kellygrogan676 no it's not 😂
U r right... She wore glove , water came through the glove... Its not good to drink that water which went through glove
KELLY GROGAN You’re thinking the green coconuts. Brown ones look like mini hairy bowling balls. 👀
I just wasted 30 minutes trying to open a coconut with a hammer and another tool.....Wow how hard it is!!! I should have watched this before trying to open it. This looked so easy!!
i made mess of it but after watching this video i am quite confident
Sim0nella I found a quicker, easier, and safer way to open a young coconut. Just watched Shark Tank and I was blown away by this product this guy introduced. It's called CocoJack. It's the best tool ever to open a coconut. Check it out on Amazon. They have only five star ratings. This product is the real deal and you will open your coconut in 3 seconds without a knife. I kid you not. He also has a tool to take ALL the meat out with one swoop. Mark Cuban invested and he was smart to do so. This is not an endorsement. I just love the product. It works folks!! Don't lose a finger.
I destroyed my big knife Slicing away at mine lol
This is not Young coconut, it's brown.
Same X(
I ended up cutting into it with a breadknife to get the crack started.
Being from India, never thought this would need a tutorial. Great, Vijaya, that you thought of it.! Looks like there are lot of people out there outside of India, who were clueless :)
Wow, this was the best tutorial I've seen. Quick and easy. You got yourself a sub sweetheart!
I was always afraid of cutting a coconut, loved to see how easy it is. Thanks for sharing your moms secret. Shhhhhhh
Thank you for posting this. So easy to follow & understand. Thorough, detailed & simple. Excellent presentation!
+Sincerely That is such a sweet comment, thank you!! :D
Wow ! 39 years later and I find the most simplest way to do this ! THANK YOU
Awesome technique Vijaya.. 👏👏 I used to break coconuts for every ritual performed at home, first wash the coconut or just dipping in water is enough, show some heat and then hit it on the nerves to break it perfectly..
This is amazing. I tried everything but finally I found your way. Most safe and easy way. Your are a huge resource. Thanks!!!
+Salim Chandani I'm so happy this worked out for you! :)
for me even this doesn't work
Yep! That's the way. You're basically creating a stress fracture around the coconut when you strike the weak points. You didn't even have to strike it that hard either. Love the tip about the linoleum knife. We have one of those Thai handheld coconut graters, but the linoleum knife looks like it can get the meat out faster.
I was always afraid to cut a coconut the South Indian way but I loved the way you used the back part of the cleaver. That definitely makes it doable. Thanks for sharing!!
just did it, worked like a charm, thanks! Used the blunt side of a smaller cleaver and hit the lines.
You are awesome! My little boy picked up a coconut and asked to buy it at the store, and I had no idea how we were going to crack it open! We had so much fun thanks to your video! Love it!
Yay! Glad it worked for you Robin :D

Thank you for your tutorial 👍❤️👍❤️
Best coconut tutorial I have seen! Thank you!
Loved your video, I really enjoy coconut water, coconut milk because I do not consume animal products, and I hate throwing away that precious and expensive coconut meat, now that you showed me how to remove the flesh, I can start making homemade coconut milk!!!
That's awesome!
cool
We use coconut milk (cheaper to make it yourself) in our smoothies, so creamy and yummy, but mainly it is very healthy for you. I've lost quite a bit of weight doing this.
OneWayOnlyJesus Is this coconut more sweet compared to the Thai coconut?
i hate coconut water how do you like it?
So many people find it hard to understand that the meat is the consumable part of the coconut...
You make it look so easy. Thank you.
The coconut water is consumable ... so is the flower nectar.
Not if you're one of the Three Stooges.
Seriously, I used a similar technique, ate too much of the 'meat' and became ill.
John David Cameron
That would have to be the best method I’d ever seen opening a coconut
You are amazing! It worked flawlessly. Never opened a coconut before. Everyone was using hammers, rocks and other silly methods to open a coconut!
I just followed this method and opened my first coconut! Thanks. And I found a chestnut knife was perfect for getting the flesh out (similar shape to the one you used)
This is the third time we have tried opening a coconut and this video by far had the best information! Thank you so much for these helpful tips 😄
So glad you found it helpful :)
I discovered this method today
I'm doin this. Only problem getting the meat of the shell
thank you for sharing the trick, I hated smashing it open or poking holes in the eyes for the water. I have a knife and a hammer and it opened so easy because you tell us exactly what to hit. ty
I am so glad you found it useful Jason! :D
Jason Proulx you should poke it in the mouth (the only hole that is diff from the others) then wiggle it should break
i like your comment
Best tutorial I've seen on this subject. Thank you!
Excellent video, love the family tradition and love your positive vibe!!!!
Thank you, it was very easy for me to open a coconut with your help!
That's awesome!
Thanks,,enjoyed your video,, really educating.
It's so true! Coconuts have become so accessible and i'm grateful for it. This was very helpful, thanks.
excellent, graceful art of removing the meat from dry coconuts,EXCELLENT!!!!!
Finally someone who gets it lol
“Coconuts have been around forever” thanks for that 😂
Thanks for your video. You make it look SO EASY. The meat does not fly out easily for me. I need to pry and wiggle it forever! I actually drain the water out first, then put the coconut in a plastic bag and drop it a few times on our cement floor in the garage, works like a charm, just a few "drops" are needed.
Thank you Vijaya for sharing this method . Iam living in other climatic place where coconts do no grow ,but ican buy rasped coconut and I like it . Please do not forget to plant new coconut trees on protected place and care for theirs growing .Thank you again and to your mama too .
oh my. this could have gone wrong quickly
Watch closely: she used the dull end of the cleaver. Pretty much any narrow heavy object would do.
if you're a dummy yes. stay away from tools your whole life
Depends also on the quality of the fruit. This did not work or me. AT. ALL.
The cracking open part is easy but the meat is stuck HARD.
If it's stuck hard, you can place it in a bag in the freezer for 15 minutes. It won't freeze in so little time but the meat will come away from the husk much more easily.
AMAZING! This is the best and easiest way to open a coconut!
i really appreciate this video and i hope that your coconut cracking career really blossoms after the publishment of this video!
This lady is so cool! You are my hero. I can now impress my future wife!
May be an ideal way, but it's better if you drain the water out first
she did
Nathaniel Walker I'm guessing they mean through the holes at the top - use a screwdriver to perforate and drain. That way the coconut water doesn't get dirty.
Chilukar sometimes you can do with your finger, I mean seriously one of the three holes is just extremely fragile, almost like it was designed to be opened by human.
Correct, only 1 hole is easiest to open without needing screw driver only need a small pointed knife, the 2 other holes you need more strength to open.
I Agree less messy that way etc.
Excellent. To think of all the struggles I have had with a coconut! Going out to buy one NOW!
Thank you!!! I just attempted to open my second coconut. I followed instructions found online. I decided I would just settle for coconut in a bag or can. Then I googled again, following your directions I just might try another fresh one. Thanks!
Please, where do you get a knife like the one you are using??
At the hardware store. It's called a linoleum knife :)
Thanks so much!!
i want one too..
A karambit is even better
Yolanda Dobler for coconuts or murder?
Can i get the meat off of the shell with just a regular knife?
+Toms Arkls It's doable, but not as easy as using this linoleum knife
Wow...just tried..came out easily.. Thanks a lot dear..
Best video so far.
The coconut meat has a dark rind that comes away when you remove it. How do you remove that? Vegetable peeler?
After removing the water through the soft eye, if I put my coconut in the freezer overnight and crack the shell the following day, I only get the white meat, no brown rind.
thank you so much for making the video this will really help me
John Doe use a peeler
POLIgo ONE Who cares lol
John Doe I eat it it's fine
I just use my karambit
The best video on cracking coconuts!
Worked like magic for me! Thanks so much for this tip. I have had bloody experiences before but this worked perfectly. Thanks a lot.
You made the coconut water dirty lol
First, the dirty water dripping from shell and your glove. Then coconut water itself dripping through your glove.
thats what filters are for?
Safsoufa Games Agreed, up till the moment she drank from the bowl.
How in the world did all those people live from hundreds of years ago?
Who cares.
Old coconut water is not much consumed by Asian. The young ones are preferable.
I’ve never tried a coconut
I love it that your tools are not all shinny and new, and an extra bonus that you are beautiful! Greetings from Scotland.
*THIS IS THE BEST METHOD EVER!* It worked like a charm!!! Thank you so much for this video!!! :D
We Tamils always use this method to open and remove the meat, I laughed when seeing the coconut youtube videos. Why they are using hammer, screwdriver, oven, etc ? We didn't use glove. The tender coconut water and its meat is yummy.
Not just tamilian but people from kerala to do the same. :)
Pravish Rajan not just Tamils and kerala us Icelandic’s do it too
To eat coconut meat just add lemon chilli powder salt and yummy...!
wrabit79 Yuck
I tried it and it worked!! I'm soo excited 💃💃. Thank you so much for the tutorial 😁👐🏾.
That was amazing! I lived in Florida and will be moving back in July. I will be buying 8 coconut trees. I have never crack one open without making a big mess and never got the meat out. Thank you Vijaya!! Now I am really excited to try this method. 😃
Be shure to never sleep beneath one
Two tutorials and neither tell viewers to take a sharp pointy knife and core out the soft third eye and drain the coconut milk. Another tip not mentioned , put coconut in freexer overnight, let it defrost {shell may already be cracked , then open ,i just cradle it in hands and give it a bounce against a rock . The freezing make the meat expand , contracts as it warms and easily separates from the shell. For those with fireplace or wood burning stove coconut shells burn great and very hot .
murphy13295 beautiful!
Sir, opening third eye of coconut is not used bcoz in Hindus, when person is dead n his last rites r performed then this method is used to quench thirst of the dead. Then he/she is creamated.Hence those who khow avoid this.
i just chucked it at my porch twice and it opend
Took a bunch of taps all the way around, then I hammered my screwdriver in the side and it popped open! Meat came ot in one piece from both halves! Thanks! Easiest tutorial ever!
Thank you for sharing, when you cut the flesh out with the knife I was shocked how easily it came out! Like you said, everyone else shows ways that are much more complicated.
lovely girl.
Very sweet of you to say, thank you so much for watching :)
Apparently the coconut community has meat cleavers? Scary!
solsun75 not in Polynesia. A small smooth rock will do just fine.
Vijaya, what a great video. You have a great presence on screen. God bless and thank you for the beautiful tip 🙏🏻💛
This was by far the best example of how to crack open a coconut, thanks a million...
Seems super dangerous. I was waiting for her to hit her thumb with that cleaver. Couldn't watch. Yikes!
if you look closely, you can see she used the back of the cleaver. So it's perfectly safe! (even if she did hit her thumb, it'd hurt, but wouidn't cause injury) :)
Well, like you could see, she hit it with the back-side of the cleaver. So if she would've slipped, it wouldn't cut her, just bruise her.
it couldve broken her thumb too... if she hit it hard enough... but im glad she didnt lol
Only white people from cold areas would hit their thumbs doing this.
It helps to keep your hand and Thumbs out of the way. She should have had her thumb Under the coconut with the rest of her fingers.
Im assuming that a Vegan came up with that title
+VR4OZ haha nahh. You usually refer to that part of the coconut as the 'meat' or fleshy part.
+BlueStarise oh ok fair enough then
hahahah 😂😂😂😂😂
+VR4OZ as i already replied....there is more than one definition of "meat". in this case the
definition of "meat - the edible portion of a plant rather than its husk
or shell" is used when describing a coconut so even something like a
brazil nut, the edible part inside is the meat as opposed to its
inedible shell.
+Boot Nreboot that description gave me the most outstanding erection just now
Easiest method I have ever used! Need to get the linoleum knife. Was a little tricky with the pareing knife. Thank you.
Thank you very much. The carpet knife works great. Coconuts are wonderful. Food, drink and the ground husks grow great tomatoes.
Great job Vijaya!
Thanks so much!!! I was hittting this coconut like crazy but couldn't get it open. I followed your steps and it opened in less than 10 hits. Thanks again 🤗
Your pairing knife method helped me separate the flesh from the shell. Thank you.
Didn't know about the prominent lines in the coconut till you pointed them out. My first coconut worked great! Thank you!
Great presentation and great method! Ty.
This was a great tutorial! It worked great for us thank you!
Wonderful! Thank you. I have been making it really hard on myself. Thank you!
I tried so many other techniques but I was unsuccessful. Finally I found your video and it opened in 5 minutes!
Wow. You made it look so easy
Thank you very much that was very helpful. Iv been drinking coconut water from coconuts for 30years already. And this is the first time I am actually removing the flesh from the shell.
Thank you. This was very helpful. I love fresh coconut!
I like it. People are adopting the same process in village. Now the trend is changing. Good job
Thank you so much. Finally a good way to get the white stuff out of all the coconut I'm having in the garden. Went to get the knife and it works great!
Smart work. Absolutely outstanding.
Yay!
I just tried this...worked really well! Definitely not a pro like her, but it worked! Thanks!
Great instructional video! Thank you.
