  • This video is about the Airbus A220-300 vs 737 Max 7, 737-7. Two single aisles from Boeing and Airbus, though unlike Boeing 737 Max, the Airbus A220 was developed by Bombardier. However, following some lawsuits, Airbus took over and the Airbus A220 was born. Still, in this video, we compare A220 vs 737 Max, specifically the Airbus A220-300 vs 737 Max 7 and find out which is the better single aisle from Airbus vs Boeing!

If only Boeing had NOT let pride and greed blind their judgment by now we could have been looking at an entirely different situation with 2021-2022 being the launch year for an entirely new re-designed 737 ( B-797 ) with entry into service 2025-2026. This model could have also included a stretch large enough to be considered a valid replacement for the B752 & B753. You would have seen some carriers hold back on new orders, as such as new design could undoubtedly be more advanced and more efficient that than A220 or E195-E2. What transpired with the 737-MAX did not only disgrace Boeing but they dragged down the FAA with them, which had knock-on effects with other Government Agencies across the planet !! ( The latter in my opinion is a good thing as certification of new civilian aircraft will now be stricter ensuring a greater level of safety for passengers ). For Boeing now, this has not just put the 737-MAX under a magnifying glass, but it has drawn additional attention to the 787 and the new 777-X, which means if we are honest the re-design of the B737 ( The B797 ) has been forced onto the back burner for possibly re-kindling 2030. Boeing has lost a huge fortune over the 737-MAX and is lucky to have its military contracts to fall back on. Sticking purely with the civilian side, by the time the dust has settled, the 737-MAX will end up being the most scrutinized and safest aircraft to fly on to date, it might NOT be the most comfortable or fuel-efficient, etc. but it will do well especially with LCC and Vacation airlines. Whether Boeing actually makes any profit from the 737-MAX remains to be seen. We will see these ongoing quality control issues with the Dreamliner finally resolved across the board and the 777=X entering service as a new record-breaker and the pride of many a carriers fleet. Once this has been achieved Boeing will then proceed with the new design 737 ( B797 )

The extra seat width really matters. I was going on vacation with my then 2 kids a few years back. And well 3 width and we where 4 person. So we just raised the arm rest and set the kids in the middle. Now all 4 fit on the same bench. Have to just jump over for landing.
If Ryan finds out about this, they will make a 2 children 2 adult bench

@@D_2_M they didn't. They have extended it vastly, but the reason the 737 Max climbs too steep when power is added is because the wings needed to be further back, so that the newer high-bypass engines being mounted further forward on the Max didn't result in an unstable design requiring the Tail to need MCAS to constantly fight the unstable design.
If they had resigned the airframe then either the wings or landing gear would have been higher to allow the new engines to fit under the wings, OR the wings would have sat further back (by maybe 2ft) so the center of thrust was balanced with the airframe.
The fact is they didn't redesign it. They have only extended it. Proof is found in the flat bottom of the Leap 1b engines.....needed because they cba to redesign it.

  • @Code3forever

One thing I would like to add regarding the 737. In 1984, I was flying from Minot, ND to Denver, CO on Frontier Airlines. The 737 was one of the first models built in 1967. The overhead was just a shelf and not storage bins. While flying over South Dakota, we hit an air pocket and the jet dropped out of the sky and when it finally "grabbed" air, I saw the wings bend upward to where I thought they would snap. I thought we were dead, but the wings held and we continued the flight to Denver. Even though that 737 was ancient, it was durable and I am sure it went through thousands of cycles. Boeing really did a great job on that series in my opinion.

Eh wings are designed to tolerate flex, the 737 (the DC-9 family was too) was a tough aircraft but the max ruined it. I was on an A321 and we hit a bit of turbulence at our cruise altitude in south Illinois it was only a year or so old but still there was quite a bit of wing flex. But I wasn’t too worried for I know those wings are built in such a way that they can handle that flex.

It was great for the past when airlines don't really charge you for many things to make profit and when they don't squeeze more small seats to break even or make more profits. Plus back then in 1960s when it was first introduce 737 didn't have to worry too much about efficiency. Nowadays everything have to be efficient. So 737 got upgraded overtime to follow the trend and safety but in today fast paced world 737 already reached it's limits. Boeing too cheap to make a new plane from scratch because of Bean counter management the company used to be run by engineers now focus more on profit by selling legacy products.

I believe the A-220 is better as it is a fresh design and more advanced. The 737 was a great plane for it's time but with the MAX, you are cramming new and bigger engines where there had to be design changes. Due to Boeing deliberately covering up the MCAS concerns by Boeing engineers, I have no confidence in the 737 MAX program. Boeing does make good aircraft with all of their other models but they dropped the ball with the MAX. I feel sorry for the Boeing employees who lost work on the project but I feel Boeing should have started from scratch to build a jet to compete with Airbus. Now you have to wonder what else Boeing "neglected" to tell airlines and pilots regarding other aircraft they have built while Muilenberg was in charge.

For better or worse modern aviation is a numbers game. The A220 is optimised for its size. The Max 7 is not. Even given the crew type conversion costs, to those airlines whose need is predominantly in the 120-150 seat range there is an obvious advantage in the Airbus. Neither is the fact that it pleases their passengers lost to potential operators. Oh yes, this plane WILL sell.

No competitiom. Unfortunately Boeing's reputatiom ia now in the gutter. The 737 Max is still based on a 1950's design and has merely been updated with each new series. The MAX is an upgrade too far. Boeing should have designed a new plane from the ground up, not tried to cut corners. With major airlines cancelling orders, Boeing will struggle!

Unfortunately, Boeings reputation is not in the gutter anymore. the 737max is based on a 1950's frame but the max is just an update with the last series. The max is an upgrade just right. Boeing did come up with a new design of plane called 797 from the ground up. that never made it t production. the 737max will be returned to service fully by this new nma aircraft from boeing. they haven't cut corners now. with no major airlines not cancelling orders Boeing will thrive

  • @Trevor1292

Get your facts correct "After American forced Boeing to re-engine" - American did NO such thing, that issue was entirely down to Boeing Salemans pride and greed. Boeing offered American a re-engined 737 that at the time was NOT even on the drawing board, claiming their product would br cheaper and better for American, in order to persuade American not to shut out Boeing but to split the initial 100 Aircraft order for A320Neo's with Boeing for 737-MAX's.

  • @joshuadrain3902

When the MAX gets ungrounded I would take the max any day because it is more rouged and stronger and it runs the same systems as the boeing 787 and it was but for longer range rather than the CS100 it was built for short flights like regional flights and you can fly a boeing 737 from Canada to Cancun and not stop also the A220 looks like it was trying to go with the look of the sukhoi superjet . And tbh the boeing 737 has a more versatile option and the systems are easy to jump from a boeing 737-800 to a boeing 737-900 because of the similar systems and the boeing 737 has more of a reputation that is why airlines have not droped on the big 73 and tbh I've flown a 737 before it has more legg room in the cockpit how ever Airbus has good seating but the A220 is not really known and it is just a plane rebadged with airbuses logo and this comparison was kinda unfair because the CS200
is a regional jet and the boeing 737 is not and a fair comparison would had been the embrare ERJ-195 and the CS200 that would be a fair comparison. I'm not a really a Airbus lover I'm more of a boeing lover. Plus I don't like the fact that a computer is trying to minimize the amount of control of the aircraft I have I want to be in control of it all and airbuses fly by wire has caused a lot of Airbus crashes to be hectic let's stop acting like Airbus is all that grand it has a lot of faital flaw's .in my opinion I think boeing will still be the company people will purchase plane's from .

If Southwest was SMART they would have replaced there aging 737-700 fleet with the A220-300. Instead of going with the "unpredictable" MAX's. There is no question the A220-330 is quieter, more fuel efficient, and spacious compared to older generation 737-700 models. I clearly see this jet becoming the NEW front runner over the next few years as the top regional aircraft without question. And if they decide to build a 500 stretched variant even more so. Then they will be directly competing with the 737 MAX's for sure. Not that the A320-NEO's haven't done so in there own right. But an A220-500 variant would only further chip away at Boeing's flawed MAX development. It's only a matter of time in my honest opinion before that jet has problems again.
