I think Bernthal looks the most realistic of those actors (the broken nose helps) because he looks like a former marine. They are generally not the worlds biggest dudes, but very lean.
It's good to see a show where top trained soldiers actually manage to hit the protagonist. In shows like Arrow, a squad of bad guys can fire automatic weapons at the heroes, and always miss the target. The Punisher on the other hand takes bullets left and right.

The first being that that's a 20 lb gun he was using w/ a ton of recoil, the second being that it's a long gun and not maneuverable for tight corners which he was moving around. Plus he actually talked about it in an earlier episode where he explained why up close a knife is actually better b/c contrary to popular belief you can close the distance and take out the other person easier.

I SOOO dig this show’s emphasis on Frank’s time in Iraq and as a soldier. Really hit home for me while watching this scene, especially his entrance. Little did they know this is what Frank planned as he exposed himself to let his enemies think that they had the advantage and then they all expose themselves so he can blow up his explosives and then mow them all down with that MG lol... I swear to god this is one of the few comic book adaptations that KNOWS how to add a lot of its character abilities from the comic books.

One of the things I love about both Frank Castle and John Wick: when they take down their enemies, they make sure they stay down unless it's a special occasion.
I love how they portrayed the use of a shotgun on an armoured opponent. Poor sod took THREE blasts point blank. Chest must've caved in by the second shot. Armour can save you, but you don't play in the enemy's turf, lest they prepared for this sort of thing, and torture you with 12 Gauge

Of all the actors who did Punisher, JB delivered what everyone has been dying to see. Not cold and emotionless, actual emotion to a character that really has nothing left to lose. I hope if Disney does pick this up, they remember that grit and dirt sell just as well as the other MCU characters

Yes, it's two in the chest and one in the head. If your target has his back turned, then it would be two in the back, I would imagine. I'm no expert, but it makes sense to shoot the back as it's just as wide and as vulnerable as the chest.

Maybe we're all fucked up, but there is something extremely satisfying about watching him kill people. He doesn't just shoot them in the head. He destroys them, rips their guts out, slices throats, gouges eyes, stab repeatedly, etc. It's almost non-human how he treats his victims. He's basically made it an artform, particularly Bernthal's version of Frank. Honestly my favorite action scenes aren't even ones where he's shooting people. It's when he has no guns and has to deal with people with whatever he's got around him.

No, Jon Bernthal never served in the military. That's called good acting (and he likely had military training in preparation for the role). The fact that you thought he could have been a former soldier is a testament to his performance. He convinced you.
He never did, but he had a rough life where he constantly got into street fights and such. Other than that, this is all pure brilliant acting.
The passion of this whole series is just out of this world 🌎
One of the things I love about both Frank Castle and John Wick: when they take down their enemies, they make sure they stay down unless it's a special occasion.

The flashbacks and the modern day relationships help to make Frank a 3D character. I love the punisher MAX run by Garth Ennis but half way through before Punisher BORN it just becomes a Slog to read
the show is about the PUNISHER who is constantly portrayed as being excessively violent, THAT is what you expect to see when you watch or read something that has him in it. you expect to see allot of violence because that is how he deals with his enemies. that's like saying theres too much violence in DooM and we should see more of the doomslayer hanging out with random characters instead of getting to the point like those games do and indulging in it like we expect. the show should be majority violence. the flashbacks show us nothing that we didnt already know or need to know apart from frank knowing ruso well.

Of all the actors who did Punisher, JB delivered what everyone has been dying to see. Not cold and emotionless, actual emotion to a character that really has nothing left to lose. I hope if Disney does pick this up, they remember that grit and dirt sell just as well as the other MCU characters

He kills that role so well and I love how they brought in government corruption, high level intelligence, and his nemesis Russo was perfectly cast. Got so happy when he finally used the skull symbol again. So what disspaojnted when he burned it in the first 3 minutes of the show thinking we were never gonna see it again. Him using it agains may have been for a short time but it was definitely worth it.

Yes, it's two in the chest and one in the head. If your target has his back turned, then it would be two in the back, I would imagine. I'm no expert, but it makes sense to shoot the back as it's just as wide and as vulnerable as the chest.

Maybe we're all fucked up, but there is something extremely satisfying about watching him kill people. He doesn't just shoot them in the head. He destroys them, rips their guts out, slices throats, gouges eyes, stab repeatedly, etc. It's almost non-human how he treats his victims. He's basically made it an artform, particularly Bernthal's version of Frank. Honestly my favorite action scenes aren't even ones where he's shooting people. It's when he has no guns and has to deal with people with whatever he's got around him.

The Rue Morgue No, it isn't. I've seen far, FAR worse comic book adaptations. I really don't understand why people hate that movie. Sure, it was a little over-the-top and perhaps even cheesy at times, but it was the closest Punisher adaptation we had up to that point.
