One of my favorite things about this fight: Frank fights dirty. He uses eye gouges, hits from behind, backhands, and any object he can get ahold of. In real life, this is how you're supposed to fight if you're threatened. There are no rules outside a ring or octagon. Use every trick you have to win. Scratch, bite, go for the eyes, pull hair, throw dirt, whack them with any object you can get ahold of. Survival first, honor last

That's some amazing fight choreography. I especially love how Frank is always trying to multitask. Falling down? Might as well also smash this guy's skull. Good shit. Though it's funny, Frank was taking a beating the whole while but the only time he was "losing" was when he tried to fight the cauliflower ear guy "fairly" without a weapon. I think it's an interesting implication that while yes, Frank is a badass, he's still human and there's still people out there that could wreck his shit in a clean fight. Good thing he's usually not interested in clean fights.
I feel like Frank would get his ass handed to him in a rules-limited bout. The thing is, he's usually trying to kill you, hence starting by grabbing the guy's mouth and shoving his face to the floor. That kind of "dishonorable" shit is why he wins in real fights but would lose if there were rules enforced.
The best thing about the fight scenes in this series were that although choreographed, they were a lot more messy. More scrappy. Much more like fights in real life.
This is without a doubt some of the best comicbook fight scenes I’ve ever witnessed. Superbly choreographed, brutal, robust, clean. No fancy set pieces or dramatic entrances or qippy one liners. Just pure raw unadulterated violence at it’s best. Berthnal as Castle is like a hand to a glove. Perfect combination.
@@animeprofilepicture8783 if they were forced into a situation where they have to fight together, he'd admire it for sure. unfortunately Batman would just as likely respond to Punisher the way Daredevil does
I love how they show how damn resilient he is. Tortured by Agent Orange for hours yet he still has the energy and strength to kill him, and very brutally at that. Russo’s gang beat the shit out of him yet he still took the first opportunity given to him to get the upperhand and kill them. And no matter how strong the bald guy is Frank still comes out on top because of how resilient he is.
Really captures the grounded and gritty feel of The Punisher and his fighting style. In a real fight where you’re getting jumped, you’re not gonna come out of it unscathed and you’re going to wanna use the environment as your friend.
Yesss. I loved how ricks character arc worked. By season six or so he became everything he hated shane for. Even went after that guys wife in the suburb camp.
@dads_diy Series just went too long for me. I had to give up on it. Reached a point where I just didn't care anymore. And frankly, when Rick didn't kill Neegan after promising him to do so multiple times, it pissed me off.
I love the fights in this show because they are the closest we get to a real fight in anything on film. Real street fights don't have the hero coming in and dominating the competition without injury. Frank takes just as much punishment as he dishes out.
Lol don't kid yourself. In real life the "hero" would get knocked out by a stray punch and the gang of jacked Russians would stomp the life out of him.
I don't know that one seemed whimsical, and kind of appropriate for that fight. This one, it really captures that he seen the s***, and that he's just rage incarnate
Dude this was so well choreographed. Like a Marine, Castle uses the momentum of being assaulted to attack his rivals and is always aware of his surroundings never losing focus on an opponent and using any object he finds. Not only does it look cool but fits his personality as a marine
The best part of this whole fight sequence is that when Frank is punching someone though they may be a literal bulk of muscle they are getting up each time with increasing difficulty. That actually does explain the fact that the strength is all you need to go for the hit and not huge , vein enriched muscles which at most times are just show off.
@Chicken Nugget do you mean why WOULD they fight fair? Cause what you said sounds like “why would anyone fight unfairly?” And I can think of a lot of good reasons lol
@@MathishaTheLinka true. @@Clayton_Stewart I don’t think we’d have to worry too much about that. Just a hunch, but the military did denounce every veteran that went to the riot and deemed the riot of the capitol as a shameful act of violence.
Somehow seeing a guy get hit in the head by a flying kettle bell makes me wince harder than the part where the prisoners are getting stabbed with half a broom handle.
It’s probably because you have a better understanding of the damage a heavy blunt thing can do to your body than what it feels like getting stabbed by wood
This is one of the most brutal and realistic fight scenes ever made-no flashy Hollywood stunts where heroes walk away without a scratch. The Punisher shows raw, close-up damage-blood, broken bodies, and exhaustion-capturing the real cost of violence. Every hit feels heavy, and the speed of the fight keeps you on edge. Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle isn’t a polished action hero-he’s battered, desperate, and willing to fight dirty to survive. The series is filled with intense, grounded action like this, making it stand apart from typical overproduced fight scenes. Even years later, nothing comes close to this level of realism and impact.
Turk in other MCU series: The mysterious and badass black market trader in all of New York. Turk in The Punisher: 𝘗𝘭𝘴 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘩𝘶𝘳𝘵 𝘮𝘦, 𝘔𝘳. 𝘊𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘭𝘦. 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘮𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘮𝘦 𝘥𝘰 𝘪𝘵, 𝘐 𝘴𝘸𝘦𝘢𝘳-
Now this is an example of a brilliant fight scene, the punisher doesn’t just demonstrate absolutely badass and death defying skills in combat, but it’s about how much of a beating he can take and still remain paramount.
Bernthal has boxed all his life that’s why his punching looks so good in his fights. I love that he punched Ben Affleck in the Accountant that’s always a plus lol

0:28 this was a brutal move, i mean, the guy was on the ground for half of the fight. If Frank wasn´t sorrounded, the fight would have ended right there, which is impressive because of how difficult it was later to hurt that same guy because of the weight difference.
@gabrieleperlangeliprod.1303 As i see it, he lands a first strike in a sensible place so he imbalances him. Then he grabs his jaw and pushes down, a move that works because he's already in pain and unbalanced and because Frank probably has more strenght in his arm than the other guy in his neck. So, he just slams his face against the ground. It's a weird move, but is brutal and unpredictable.
Even the small details of the big dude having cauliflower ear, something people get from years of fighting and wrestling. And then him shooting the takedown on Frank. Really amazing choreography.
Someone may have already mentioned this, but I think 1:06 when he spins around on a dime after kneeing that dude in the face is a fantastic attention to detail in terms of fight choreography. Any other show, protagonist would've just stood there and stared down and gotten taken from the back or something and had to fight his way out. Frank, on the other hand, is obviously so well trained that he either heard dude coming, or just instinctively turned to face the most prominent threat. Such a badass show.
I love how Frank uses his environment and its surrounding objects in order to win a fight that's unwinnable if fighting against five guys with bare fists. Makes it more realistic.
Everyone has probably their own cardinal rules of fighting. But a few commonalities are 1) Try to hit more than you get hit 2) Everything is a weapon 3) Use the environment to your advantage 4) Running is better than fighting, until you can no longer run
@@WalksWithNoFear I don't agree with the 4th. Everyone dies someday, it's inevitable. So because of that, life is not about longevity, but about quality. There were moments in this show where i felt like Frank might die. That is how realistic this show was. The story wasnt all the good in the second season, but man did Frank never disappoint. The first season was timeless. Also the second seasons villain cast was amazingz yet the action scenes were less brutal than the first season. What a great friggin show. Literallly loved when Frank would almost be dead after fights but recover and then go on about it all over again. Thats true daredevilness.
Daredevil is my favorite Marvel hero, but the Punisher will forever be my favorite Anti-hero. What he can do and how much pain he can take and dish out is almost, if not inhuman. I love it.
I love how the fight is very realistic. Frank is a highly-trained soldier is very proficient with using the environment around himself to fight. But no matter how skilled you are, fighting an entire group of thugs is never that easy in real life. They'll try to corner and overrun you if you give them any chances. If you can, you have to instill fear and fight dirty in order to survive an inevitable brawl.
i like how realistic these fights are, not in terms of how they play out but in terms of how badly people get fucked up, real serious fights are brutal and people get hurt badly, in most shows people get hit and they just fall over or get a nosebleed, in this one their faces come apart
Only in comics and movies a dude can get a bullet to the chest or a metal pipe to the face and keep fighting like it was just a slap from a woman.... Adding tomato sauce helps to sell the illusion.
@@justcaused6182 don't forget about the prison fight in Daredevil S2 where he slit the inmates throat right above him and let him bleed out on his face 😂
Frank a master social awareness. He had a plan for every object in the room and already plan out his attack. When shove he use the momentum to push the other guy in front of him into a bar behind him. Once drop down he picks up a weight and uses it as a weapon. Once fell again he makes sure to hit the guy on the ground with weight already knowing he there. He pick up another weight after a Dodge and use it as a weapon. While moving forward remembers there a guy right behind him and pull the bar to hit the guy right behind him. Then a second later picks up another weight as a weapon. To defend and attack. Once he loses that weight he fights the big Russian guy. Now if you pay attention Frank doesn't use any weights until the end. It is because he wants the guy watching to see Frank come out Victorious after a beat down from an unstoppable monster. While taking the monster down savagely and brutally hard. Showing him a true unstoppable monster.
Just goes to show knowing how to fight is more important than having big muscles. These guys are body builders, but Frank is a marine. They are good at lifting heavy things and putting them back down. Frank is good at killing people.

What about Robert McCall as well, or The Equalizer with their military combat tactics
The best part of this whole fight sequence is that when Frank is punching someone though they may be a literal bulk of muscle they are getting up each time with increasing difficulty.
