  • Philippine Airlines has taken a progressive step towards its fleet expansion program by selecting the Airbus A350-1000 aircraft. The carrier already operates the -900 version of the plane, and the A350-1000s will allow it to increase capacity to popular destinations, such as those in the US and Canada. Let’s look at this exciting deal in today’s video!

As a Filipino I am particularly proud of Philippine airlines, one of the oldest airlines in Asia, which pioneered the Route of the Orient Star in the early Fifties which spanned 2/3 of the globe! It was the first East Asian arline to cross the Pacific to San Francisco with a tag to Mexico City, making it the first Asian airline ever to fly to Latin America. It also flew to Europe via Calcutta, karachi and Tel aviv, serving Rome, Madrid, Paris, Frankfurt and London. Also the first east Asian airline to do so. I hope the new widebodies will let them serve San Diego, Seattle, Chicago, Houston and Calgary, as well as Rome, Paris, Madrid, Frankfurt, London and Amsterdam once more.

Whether or not it's a direct order or a leasing arrangement

This is Bad News for PAL's exclusive 777-300 Er pilots that aren't flying the Airbus sidesticks.
The more logical order for Pal to replace the *old* 777-300Er is to wait for the 777-9X to replace all the 777-300er's but for some reason maybe they want to be an all Airbus airline, they order the A350-1000's instead of adding more A350-900's.

terrible airline. recently had my flight from bkk-mnl delayed by 6 hours. no compensation, no apology from any crew member / pilot. such disrespect for passenger's time. and what's with that statement from the spokesperson that aired on local news last june 17. such an arrogant tone and statement, with zero empathy for customers. spokesperson basically said that this is of zero fault by the carrier and customers should just put up and endure this kind of service. I understand the supply chain issues with pratt & whitney, but that could have been mitigated by aircraft leases, and reactivation of older fleet. Yet, this airline chose not to do any mitigation and take no accountability for the delays.

Not necessarily so. The A 350-1000 is a brilliant fit. It is actually more economical than either the 787 Dreamliner or the new 777x models. PAL made a good choice already with the A-350 over the 787. besides, Airbus aircraft are more comfortable than Boeing aircraft in my experience!
