philippine airlines is the oldest because it was operating their "Philippine Air Lines" since 1941.

Yes, there are it’s downsides, like a huge line for the bathroom, but the seats are comfortable, I thought the food was pretty okay, (I think they could do better), and the crew was so caring, and nice. I would reccomend this airline highly. Great review dude! Keep up the good work.

I flew on Philipine Airlines in November 2018 on the Heathrow-Manila flights PR721 & 721 and had a A350 both ways (RP-C3506 out and 3504 back). I was in economy and found it to be a good experience. I am quite tall at over 6ft (186cm) but had no trouble with the long flights as the seat pitch was so good, more room than Thai Airways which is the only other carrier i have been on long haul with. The A350 took off quite fast compared to other aircraft i have been on (A340-300, A340-600, A380, B747 & B777) and the flight was about an hour shorter than when i last flew on Philipines which used an A340-300. The food on this trip was quite good for steerage class and the cabin crew were friendly and helpfull throughout. The only bad point of my trip was getting onto the aircraft at Ninoy Aquino to come home, a right old rigmarole with about 3 lots of security before you get on the plane-there's even another security check after the main security check when you are airside at the airport! But overall a great airline to fly with.

Economy class on Philippine airlines -- My wife and I took a new A350 from San Diego to Manila last April on Philippine airlines and it was very nice. I am 6-0 tall and 300 lbs and I had enough room -- wife is 5-3 and 125 lbs - seats were comfortable and a sufficient amount of room (width). Other than serving "Asian" foods (rice, fish, etc.) and NOT giving full cans of pop, I was VERY happy with Philippine airlines, their staff and their procedures. I would definitely fly them again!

Thanks for another great video!Premium economy is worth it for a 12 hour flight. The larger seat, additional leg room and a smaller quieter cabin make premium economy worth the extra cost. While a nicer meal would be nice, it’s not my priority, the extra room for 12 hours is what’s important to me. I can’t afford business class but I can afford premium economy.

And as you said, not a noisey aircraft either. I was in economy but the cabin crew were great. The food was nothing special but wasn't bad either, quite acceptable. I had flown on thsis flight a few years earlier on a A340-300, there was no IFE and the flight took longer than with the A350 but again the cabin crew were great! I may well splurge on a business class ticket one day but i really don't think premium economy is worth it although the extra leg room looks nice, i am 6ft 4in! The catering I do agree they should offer something a bit more than the Regular Economy, meaning something a bit closer to Business Class. I think the main difference is the seat and the more room that comes along with it is where things are all similar for the Premium Economy. Proper towel and/or welcome drinks are highly divided like the catering. Slightly more personalised service is also paramount for a Premium Economy. As of filming you did mention that there's still a lot of room for refinement.

Thank you for anther great review. I choose premiums economy class for the smaller (quieter) cabin and additional leg room. Food, priority boarding and any other extras are nice to have but not essential for me. A quieter cabin and more leg room are essential for a 13 hour trip. Finally I think its important to compare premium Economy to econonomy class (not business) and decide if it worth the extra cost. Obviously business class is much nicer but its also much more expensive and you get what you pay for (and paying $5, 000 for a businesses class seat is just not in my budget....).

Philippine Airline didnt just make the Amenity Kit or most of the Plane's interior Blue for no reason at all... The 'Blue' in Philippine Flag symbolizes Peace...
Please dont say its a terrible color.

Nice review Josh and great to see different product reviewed....
Highly recommend China Airlines A350 Premium Economy, they have one less seat a row in this cabin 2-3-2 and also the seats are hard shell backs so seat in front is not encroaching into your space.
Food was similar to Economy, but slightly larger portions and think one extra course.
Also got the same amenity kit as business class and have access to the same “bar” area as business class, which is between both cabins and basically an area you can help yourself to drinks and snacks.
The in-flight entertainment let it down as limited western options, as usually the case with the smaller Asian airlines compared to Cathay and Singapore, but was enough for my one trip.
Crew were nice, but didn’t seem use to western travellers and limited English.
I paid £1200 London-Taipei-Sydney return, which is a bargain when was over £2000 with BA, Qantas and the major Asian carriers and would refuse to pay that price. I have no regrets travelling on such a long journey in that class, but not sure it’s worth the price of two economy tickets?
Also had to endure 5 hour connection in Taipei, and when on such a long journey the long transit time does drag!

On a good note, my last trip last July had their socks (17:50) changed from dark color blue to lighter blue. PAL must have listened to you.

I have flown many times with PAL in business and the comfort and on board experience has always been superb. My first encounter with the A350 was a familiarity flight between BKK and MNL. It replaced the 777 the following year on the LHR route.

I live in NY and i have always flown the direct PAL flight from NY to Manila and i have always loved it! it’s a bit more expensive but I like the nonstop 16 hr flight it saves me time. It is comfortable and the crew is amazingly gracious. It feels good to be flying with your own people. The big bird is also very clean and very nice. I am going home again this December and will definitely fly Philippine Airlines direct flight from NY to Manila again! 😀

Looks like PR has a nice premium economy product. Your video is very informative.
Always difficult to know what you get at different airlines in premium economy, some airlines only change more without giving anything extra compared to economy others charge a tiny bit extra and give you much more.
My best premium economy has been in SK and CI regarding price/value

The only improvement I can see is upping their meals in Premium Economy. Like Josh said, the FA told him food is exactly the same in PE compared to Economy. On most other Asian carriers, the food is upgraded in Premium Economy, otherwise nice going, PAL !

Before COVID, I flew from MNL to SFO in the very seat you’re sitting on (22A), and I only had to pay an extra $100 one-way on top of the economy fare, which was definitely a bargain for a 12 hour flight.

SQ gives you priority boarding/disembarkation, extra baggage, higher points accrual, different meals including selection from book the cook, basic amenity kit, and welcome drink (inc champagne!)... I find them worthwhile for me considering I arrive better rested at the other end of my flights. I even prefer SQ in Y+ over J for anything below 8 hours.
