Hi Josh! Cabin crew in Australia here! We are allowed to use electronic devices while deadheading but are still expected to be professional and discreet on board. I think what made it look so bad in this instance is she was slouching and her attitude overall seemed very negative. We can also deadhead in business attire if we choose to. We sometimes get upgraded but only if there’s spare seats. If we are regraded into business we get served last.
Same with I think all Canadian Airlines. We often deadhead in uniform occupying a passenger seat, in business class if there is empty seats. We are allowed to use personal electronic devices while deadheading. But of course must remain very professional. The posture and general air of that crew member in your video was indeed very unprofessional i agree.
Hi Josh! American Airlines crew member here. At AA when deadheading and occupying any seats other than the jump seat we are allowed to use our electronic devices and/or headphones. And we certainly enjoy this freedom which until I heard coworkers from other airlines in your video just a second ago saying otherwise seemed to me the most normal thing in the world! Needless to say that what we should look into is our posture. As deadheaders we are allowed to board at any time as long as the minimum crew is on board. so it’s frequent to be in a similar situation with revenue passengers still boarding. Never once I’ve see somebody laying halfway down with open legs or sitting down so inappropriately. That’s the point that hasn’t yet been made here. The crew member could have be seated gratuitously upright and being at her/his/their cellphone and go utterly unnoticed. Regards and keep up the good spirit! Lorenzo
I'm a Cabin Crew member myself, if this was me at my airline, I would get terminated at the spot. We board last and aren't allowed to use the phone at all while deadheading, not to mention to dine next to a paying customer. We are asked to stay professional whenever we wear our uniform since we are still brand ambassadors, on and off duty. But looking at her attitude she doesn't really seem to care and suffers from a massive attitude... ruining it for everyone else!
As a former Lufthansa flight attendant I totally agree. And if we had to dine next to a passenger, the passenger was served first, and then I got my meal, wishing a kind 'bon apetit' to the customer. Alcoholic beverages were absolutely a no-go when in uniform, anywhere, even at the crew hotel. But unfortunately, her attitude seems to be a global younger generation-problem, not only in India.
I'm crew for a US domestic carrier. As far as deadheading goes, crew do indeed travel in the cabin in uniform but they are still to be professional. Our crew can relax and be on their phones while sitting in the cabin as long as they are not jumpseat. Technically they are considered working crew but things are more relaxed for them as deadhead. I'm of course only speaking for my own carrier that I work for. Not sure what other US carriers rules are.
@@sagarjuneja6158 is it? Or do you not have any idea what clickbait means? Because that crew member in her uniform in the seats…is a very unprofessional crew member.
@@dmop5071 Indian vloggers are can't do that like josh said he faced legal issues with Vistara and since he's a foreigner so it's not a big hurdle for him but for Indian vloggers it will become nightmare and cumbersome for just a few likes and views
I’m a flight attendant with a major airline in the United States. When deadheading we are required to wear our uniform while deadheading, I normally just wear a jacket hiding my uniform and act normal. My airline doesn’t have any rules against being on phones while deadheading. But out of respect toward paying passengers I just act normal and respectful during boarding
On Iberia, the pilots sometimes go and take a seat in business class (long haul), no problem with me. But sometimes funny incidents, like the pilot reeks of cigarette smoke… pr you asked for a particular desert, told me they ran out, just to see a few minutes later the pilot eating it… as he was sitting next to me, I told him, damn your icecream is tasty, pitty they ran out, got one a minute later 😊
Yes that is standard for crew rest. Pilots are worth quite a lot of money and their rest and comfort is absolutely vital. Delta uses 4D in first class as a crew/pilot rest
I’m a cabin crew working at one of airlines in Middle East. Wearing uniform during deadheading is a MUST, be it 1 hour or 16 hour flight. There’s no restriction for using mobile phone or other electronic devices. We’re completely free to use that. Operating crew will treat us same like normal passengers. We also get the same meal. Sometimes we get business class seat too, it depends.
Hey Josh i am cabin crew in the US and when we deadhead we are allowed to use our phone/earphones iPads whatever we want and in uniform. That’s common here in the states because we are usually deadheading around the states to work flights all over.
When you are travelling as deadhead crew, discretion is key. You act as low key as possible and make yourself almost invisible so people do not notice you are travelling as crew. We were taught even flying privately on crew rebate tickets, to act professionally and discrete. This lady was a quite frankly a disgrace!
Obviously the behaviour of deadhead crew was unprofessional but I think in this case I am not sure but its look like sometimes when Employers don't care about employees then employees also don't care about employers and the job as well and this things happen in all profession but I agree unprofessional behaviour is not acceptable but still before blaming that crew I would definitely get to know why that crew behaved unprofessionally .
When I worked for TW and travelled on a free pass or heavily-discounted fare on another airline our rule-book clearly stated that we were "not to talk shop" if we were conversing with another passenger. We were expected to be freshly showered, clean shaven, and appropriately dressed. I always adhered to that rule.
Just to let you know that at IGI airport Delhi they don't allow photography or filming while on the tarmac for "security reasons". Referring to that ground crew incident, similar happened to me as well (not Vistara, it was Air India). I was forced to delete all the photos. And if you want to experience the worst of India, go for Spicejet.
Well if you come to the UAE you will be put behind bars for videos if a person you don't know is in it regardless of the location so be careful of what you complain
He doesn't hv cultural awareness being a guy from West 😂 they think they are the best, And people like us are watching his video and promoting such acts by commenting, subscribing etc etc.
I am cabin crew on a major US carrier and we're allowed to use cell phone and browse if we're deadheading. It's absolutely normal. We're on duty and need to stay out of the way of the crew and the boarding passengers. If we're in uniform, it's also fine. In America, passengers are very courteous to us and sometimes engage in conversation. During boarding, we're expected to remain seated so we aren't confused with working crew. And, when we are working crew, we always tell deadheaders to just relax and enjoy their personal time. If a passenger mistakes us for working crew, we're trained to respond appropriately and professionally. Our responsibilities are defined by company policy and union contracts. We're not to work (that's the working crew's responsibility). But in any kind of unusual situation or emergency, we're trained to be of assistance to the working crew. This also applies to pilots, who, at our airline, deadhead in first class.
As a cabin crew myself there are rules when it comes to Deadheading. 1) Each airline is different, for example mine you can wear casual business clothes or uniform (I prefer Casual, sooo people dont look at you like helloooo i need help with my bag) 2) most of the airlines, do pay for Deadheading just like working a flight 3) the whole phone situation is more like a personal thing. Like me, I don’t use my phone while Deadheading PERIOD (I just thing is rude talking on the phone, on speaker, or facetime, while boarding and thats including actual revenue passengers, but thats my personal Opinion) 3) I normally tried to board last if I am Deadheading. 4) I don’t personally get bothered or cranky if someone ask me a simple question just like in which terminal we will arriving Buttt if your asking for drinks and snacks etc etc etc. i will nicely tell them Even if you see me in uniform doesn’t mean I am working the flight But i can let the working crew know about it. 5) keep up the good videos 🎉😂
I find right-hand boarding rather strange, especially with the cargo pit so close. Loading/offloading gets a bit complicated with the catering truck in the way, now imagine having to load that with air stairs, busses, and passengers? Plus I also think it is a security concern with passengers and baggage in such close proximity to each other.
It happens in domestic flights departing after arriving from an international flight. Here, the left side has international terminal aerobridge. There is no safety issue, only logistical issue to get the tasks done well in advance.
I am a crew member of the LH group and when we are "dead heading" in uniforms, we, of course are not allowed to behave unprofessional in any way, but this does NOT include the use of our mobile phones, as long as we use it discretely, ie no phone calls as long the fasten seat belt sign is on, like expected from the passengers.
Hello! I'm an ex Jet Airways(India) and Qatar Airways(Qatar) crew. In Qatar, you cannot use your mobile when you are in your uniform. However, In India, because of on time performance(otp) the Indian airlines might ask the dead heading crew to take the last row seats and be seated there as they do not have enough space in the galley and the R1(Galley crew) might be extremely busy attending the captains, 12 business guests(with on ground services), closing, arming doors etcs.(I'm talking from my experience from Jet Airways) We could use our mobiles however we later got a notification to be discreet about it). Also, the ground staff might have asked you about your filming as in 2016, because of safety reasons, filming outside the aircraft/taking pictures were prohibited. This rule was implied on everyone, passengers and crew members. For pictures, we had to take permission from the commander(PIC). This crew could sit in her uniform and use her mobile(if the company allows her to do so) however, her body language is giving extremely negative vibes and because of her actions, the company might face a bad reputation.
@@bardo0007 It was a notification issued by the DGCA(Directorate General of Civil Aviation), India. I did not make it, they did! An Air India staff was sucked into the engine, people got injured as they were walking on the tarmac without ramp jackets..perhaps that's why rules were made?
@@bardo0007 Also, there are places were you are not allowed to take pictures/videos. Don't you follow those rules ?? I've been to countries where, internet does not let you upload content.

He said you are not allowed to film because you are being sued wow I mean seriously is he the legal advisor of the company to threat someone like this that too a business class passenger...ohh you being the so called ex crew can you talk in such tone with any business class pax? No right? I guess you working vistara that's why trying to cover the things with those DGCA rules which have been violated every day when crew are making reels inside the aircraft and tons of passengers standing at the ramp taking photos....he specifically popped out from the crowd to shout at him? Will you be able to digest if you flying as a passenger in J class and someone theats like you that? Hahaha sweetheart you will eat him raw understood try some good excuses to cover up things...I don't know when this ex toxic jet airways attitude who can never take criticism from anyone god bless
Several years back they arrested 13 Air India pilots in Hyderabad who arrived to work intoxicated. I saw it with my own eyes. So unless TATA replaces employees - it won't change. They also have the worst safety record - so it can only improve...good luck Tata
I have flown Vistara many a time and they have always been courteous and good. This behaviour of the ground as well as the deadheading Airhostess was a shocker to me. I hope TATA's take this seriously as they are strict about maintaining standards.
Tatas stopped caring I believe. They were the only hope but be it their IT services, automobile or airlines - they are losing quality and just because of the people it chooses to employ. They are still earning millions but guess the quality downfall has begun.
This is the most deadheaded crew member, you are right Josh she’s not professional crew member even though the airline company does not care about this behavior they aren’t gonna change whatsoever, Josh you are the helper of airlines like this even if they companies does not care but you are still helping the world if this is a good airline or not 😊❤
Don't you love when corporations are so scared of consumer reviews that they threaten legal action? Good on you for continuing to call them out on their antics and GREAT video once again :)
Josh, I love your reviews and honest appraisals of the various worldwide air carriers. Since I am recently retired, my wife and I are planning to do plenty of traveling in the post-COVID world. My question to you is - since there are several airlines that take offense to vloggers who present verifiable critiques of their product, are you wary of the food they give you. It is well documented that even in high class restaurants, that the chef or wait staff add spit or foreign matter into food that is sent back to the kitchen. I personally would not eat anything on a 2-3 hour flight from an airline that has just been openly hostile to me, or who are aware of my job.
My understanding is that if you're deadheading then you're not in your uniform, but you're still working. So, you still have to abide by the rules of your airline.
@@M3ganwillslay Mumbai is supposed to be pronounced pretty much exactly how it's written but Dubai, according to you, is not. How would someone know? By osmosis? And what has OP's religion got to do with this? So juvenile.

I work for a North American Carrier, and we have strict rules on how to behave and present ourselves while in uniform and deadheading. However we can take advantage of the same comforts as passengers, with the exception of consuming alcohol, and we have to follow the same safety requirements as well. I prefer to deadhead in plain clothes, however, most of the time I don't have a choice. Being in uniform, I am very self conscious so I sit down, stay quiet, and put on the noise canceling headset and go to sleep. Just remember the rules may be different for each carrier and how a deadhead crewmember is the one that is responsible for their actions not, the carrier. You don't behave and follow standards then you're terminated.
@stephenjacobs5640 , I still don't understand. Yes I do have membership to Josh's RUclips. Should it not show my membership to other? I'm confused what your telling me?
Not a cabin crew, but as a passenger, it would be shocking to see the least a cabin crew sit and behave like that, even if they are deadheading. It's common sense.
As crew for a European major, I would absolutely NOT sit in uniform on my phone in a J seat during boarding whilst deadheading. Discretion is key. That being said, they're not so strict now about phones, so no one (from the airline) will say anything if you use your phone on break in the galley or hanging around the terminal waiting for your flight. We mostly deadhead not in uniform, but when we do heave to wear uniform, it's clear that we have to be on "best behaviour", but using a phone is still not a major issue if you're discreet.
Much better than the previous experience Josh. I haven't flown with any Indian airline for several decades. I've heard that Tata is reviving Air India but if Singapore Airlines is powerless to make its half-owned Vistara run properly what chance has anyone got with Air India?
In India people are usually incompetent and they just want to get maximum work done by minimum number of employees at minimum possible salary without caring about working hours. Quality is not important. When a customer complains they act like they care. Corporate culture in India is this bad
You're right! They're are Highly Highly unprofessional, I have experienced the same, Vistara doesn't have a servitude trait especially being in the service field. They got to be trained to bring down their arrogance, am sure even a queen is not as prideful as their cabin crew is. I've not experienced this with the other flight cabin crew. They're are dignified, humble and professional and most importantly, approachable.
I was on this same flight a week back and there was a cabin crew deadheading beside my seat. The crew member was talking on the phone the entire time boarding was happening and when I asked her a simple question she looked at me with fury as if I had asked her for her property. I understand she wasn’t on duty but she just had to answer one simple question. Very disappointed!
Dont degrade India for one such thing, its just negligence of not reporting, just report it through the website or help center they will surely help you.

Hi Josh, Vistara Brand will be going away in March 2024 as it will be merging with Air India. Singapore Airlines has admitted that Vistara was an utter failure
"The check-in experience was disorganized, the staff was annoyed" 🙄 Josh, that's nothing surprising or something new. Indian airlines have the worse customer service off and onboard. Even before I started watching the video, I knew this was gonna be a hot mess
well said Culture values belief etc are important features But when we have an airline operation getting different types of customers of different hues and colors it is better to do SOP likle ATC so it will be directed to customer satisfaction and very good service Can be done just put them in a reorientation program again as we dont lose human capital
@@venkateshsubramaniam7631 i understand where you guys are coming from. But i dont know... whenever i read comments this (i dont mean it negative, honestly) it reminds me of the chicken and egg question of what comes first, in a broad way. What i mean with this is this: We are very quick to demand what you just demanded. But why cant we do it opposite? If i go into another country i can adapt to their way of thinking. If a cabin crew member would sit next to me and eat i wouldnt care for 1 moment. Why should i? I wouldt try and start to get in a conversation maybe and learn to know more about the person. On a boring flight, what can be better than meeting someone from another culture and get in a good conversation. Not sure, somehow its still a sign that ppl have it too good if one worries about this that much. Maybe we should be happy to be able to fly. But i get it, this way of thinking is out. PS: Maybe the worst thing about 2022 is that with this thinking im called a rightist, because everything i just said and gladly to without thinking twice, i expect the "visitors" in our country the same and adapt to us, not opposite. Hi Josh I was the only passenger on Malindo in business class and half way through the flight 4 cabin crew members sat and slepted in the business class. I asked the senior flight attendant is this normal and suddenly the crew disappeared back into the galley Let me say there was nomore service for the rest of the flight. The crew had been sprung and were not happy
Hi Josh- another really good report from you. I have a few reactions- first of all, the fact that mental health issues are not taken seriously and are "laughed at" comes as no surprise. Mental health problems are still often ignored and the stigma is still there. In a positive note, I was impressed to see that the safety video was simultaneously interpreted into sign language for the deaf. I don't believe I've ever seen that before in any airline. Your seat mate seemed unimpressed that he was co-starring in your video! Thanks again for a great review.
Hi! I’m crew and have dead headed many times. As I’m still in uniform we are required to greet passengers and encouraged assist the crew for small tasks (out of kindness). With this, once the doors are shut and we’re in the sky, so long as we remove our tie, or scarf, we are aloud to use our devices, but require to be at the back of the plane. However, during boarding this would get you dismissed from the airline as quite simply, it doesn’t look good. But you’ve got to remember, you’re not operating crew on that leg, so you are technically not required to do any duties.
At my airline we’re not allowed to sit in the business class cabin while in uniform at all. When it comes to Deadheadjng, we usually board first and sit in the last row, or as close to the back as possible. Phone usage/personal device entertainment is allowed so long as it is kept professional and respectful, and depending on our next assignment we can deadhead out of uniform. But even while deadheading out of uniform we’re still not allowed in business class.
I’m a cabin crew for Emirates, when we deadhead we board first, change to a smart casual attire and blend in with the passengers. Why won’t other airlines do the same?
I don't get why an off-duty crew member can't just relax though. Dealing with customers is pretty exhausting to start with - and as much as I hate to admit this about our country, India has some of the most poorly behaved flyers in the world. Add to that an overworking and crude employer (based on what you've heard from their messages) - I think there's absolutely nothing wrong in a crew member trying to hold on to their sanity by just relaxing and looking at their phone - I'm guessing in a deliberate attempt to not be bothered by passengers in the couple of off-duty hours they have before their next flight.
Hii man.. big fan of your videos. I am Cabin crew for Sri Lankan Airlines. On the subject of deadheading , we never use BC seats, we are allocated EY seats and what ever seat we are allocated, we are not allowed to be on our Phones while passengers bord. Also we change our cloths or wear something casual over our uniform so that we don’t look like crew. N most important thing here is the attitude. Weather ur dead heading or operating, the passenger pay our salaries, so respect to the passengers is something that needs to comes from the heart. In this case, she dose not seem to care about anything. Even if you have SOP in place ppl like this will always be the same at the same time it also might be because the stressful work conditions. At least thats my thoughts on this .
Ex-Qantas crew from 2008. If we deadhead there was 2 options. 1. Wear full uniform and uphold all standards, no drinking alcohol on the flight for this option. 2. Wear civvy clothes, no alcohol until after takeoff incase required to work last second and still, maintain professionalism. We would get placed in the highest cabin class available i.e. first or business if available but would be expected to be served last etc. However working crew would provide full service and treat you as a passenger in order to maintain illusion of not being crew deadheading.
Hi Josh! Crew member here in one of middle east carriers. Deadheading in our company is really common for us even in daily basis. We are allowed to use our phone or other electronic devices while deadhead and with a full uniform. Our allocated seats are normally in economy it is rare to be in business unless it’s an empty flights. We will receive the same service meal like other guests on board. The only thing I would like to highlight is probably the attitude/behavior. Deadheading is still part of duty, even though we’re allowed to be relax doesn’t mean that we’re acting unprofessionally.
What a scary feeling having some guy running after you and harassing you about a video. Why does it take your video to wake up an airline? You truly are a brave man to fly with them. Thank you from those of us who have experienced this type of behavior. Your platform for showing this decline in an airline was successful. Keep up the good fight and be safe.
To answer your question from my perspective as a frequent, domestic & overseas traveler, about what I think about this deadheader. I think she should have definitely waited for the passengers to board first & took the least inconvenient seat that would not be disturbing paying customers, not just sitting their before everybody boards while she plays around in her phone with her feet up ready for a nap 💤 I mean WOW that is a combination of a lack of self awareness & it’s just extremely rude. I am a barber and I own a barber shop in The U.S., Boston to be specific & if one of my barbers were just hanging out, relaxing in the barber chair or messing about on his/her phone, regardless if the barber was on the clock or not, it’s just not a good look because the customers don’t know who’s on the clock and who’s not, If customers were waiting for a haircut then I would have a major problem with that for sure.
@1:47 It’s like this in my country. People of that ethnicity refuse to wait in a queue. They also cause many car accidents on account of their unwillingness to be be patient.
The crew you saw was probably heading to her next sector as a passenger on the airline. I believe she would have her next flight out of BLR and wasn’t operating that flight. So was a passenger on that particular flight
Thanks for another great video Josh. Shocking that Singapore Airlines with a 49% stake actually admits that the Vistara brand is damaged beyond repair. I wonder what the Tatas with a 51% ownership have to say about this? And now that Tata owns Air India as well, will we see Air India go the same way? All million Rupee questions with no clear answer. It is sad, since I have flown Vistara a few times and have generally had a good experience with them.
at least in India there is some sort of business mindset when it comes to running national assets. in Pakistan we have to deal with the govt. running PIA like an old boys' club and handing out all the senior roles to ex-military men. There should be some improvement in AI with Tata, our private airlines really put the national airline to shame. What do you think of these two being merged, smart or ill-advised?
In Charles de Gaulle, when boarding with assistance, you always board on the right, on some weird hydraulic lift vehicle. It is kinda weird, and also the first passengers boarding after from the left always look at us funny cause they don't understand how we're already in the plane 😂
Each airline is different. With my airline, deadheading is positive space and you can upgrade priority over over employees seeking first class. And we can fly in our uniform. I think others and yourself are being abit high and mighty but when I’ve had the chance I choose to NOT where the uniform. But I wouldn’t get pissy with someone making a review. I’m fact, what a missed opportunity this crew had to engage you about the industry in person from her perspective.
Josh nd Vistara r made for each other😂 Never ending love story. Appreciate the effort ur putting to expose them if people like u don't call out them they will not improve.
Hey josh, I’m a cabin crew from biman bangladesh airlines, in my airline if you’re deadheading you cant be in uniform and you’re ID card cant be visible and only chief purser/CIC is allowed to sit in business class. If she was in my airline, she’d have been fired the next day or so. Also pax gets priority regarding choosing the meal and getting served first, we the crew either have to eat later on or have the next available choice offered.
Honestly my experience with Biman Bangladesh has been worse, aircraft being not clean and cabin crew busy chit chatting and not really caring about passengers, have not had any such issues with Vistara during my travels.

Go easy on the ground staff. They don’t want to get in any trouble by the safety officers by allowing people to take videos inside and outside the plane. There are no defined rules for how to act when passengers have a camera, recording everything, especially in India.

Here in USA when deadheading most of the airlines will not let you sit in business class or first class, you have to sit in economy. We are usually allowed to be in our phones but still act professional and courteous. Most of us put a jacket or something to cover our uniforms while passengers are boarding so they dont see we are crew. Unfortunately there are many cabin crew in all the airlines here that behave like that :(
Thank you Josh for bringing this to light, I had the same experience with Indigo Airlines when I was traveling to USA from India. It was a code sharing flight with Qatar Airways for Mumbai - Doha. No professionalism at all, Arrogant Crew something that they are paying for you to travel in Indigo. DO NOT TRAVEL WITH INDIGO. I would't have If I Knew earlier that Qatar Airways code sharing flight experience would be this horrible. And the way they treat you when you ask for a cup of water is totally crazy. I would't expect that on the international flight.
Question: is merging with Air India really the solution to all this airlines problem or is it just a band aid solution? This in my opinion seems like they just want to hide in another corporate entity's name. Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems like it will still be under the same management but with a different branding, so how will that do Vistara any good if right now they can't learn and correct all the complaints being thrown at the airline, staff and management right now? Just my two cents
The fate of both air india and vistara depends on how tata operates . If tata decides to change things , they will change ,if not its just band aid . I beleive tata can take it in the right direction and they have been trying to lately.

Spitting on your food if they did, is NOT good Josh, I’m shocked if they did. The deadheading I feel was probably a plant to keep an eye on you & report back. My worst experience with feeling uncomfortable flying on an airline was with El Al. They couldn’t understand why I could afford to travel so much, asking why certain documents were issued differently to others, had me unpack my luggage twice on the ground & the same questions asked by two different sets of staff. On boarding, a man sat in the 3 seats in front of me, taking the middle seat, just staring at me for the short flight from Cairo to Tel Aviv. The man next to you looked suspicious too. You are a braver man than me Josh, I wouldn’t have given them another opportunity , you have been fair with your review of the good food served, shame about their work ethic. Safe travels Josh.

My partner is a cabin crew for a SE Asian flag airline and says that when she is deadheading, they are not allowed to be seen in uniform. It usually means wearing something else or something over the top of the uniform. In this way, no passengers will mistake them for crew on duty and thus using phones isn't a problem. No idea what that idiot was yelling at you while you were boarding. He was completely unintelligible.🤣
The way that flight attendant sat on the business class seat during boarding is awful to look at. 12/6/2022 edit: I knew very little bit about flight attendants, no need to be so aggressive toward me.
A flight attendant sitting in a business class is nothing wrong because she must have been assigned at that seat but that unprofessional body language and attitude is something else... What a disgrace.
Deadheading flight attendants are not “extremely unbelievable”. They are being sent to another airport to ensure that passengers have adequate crew for scheduled flights. Where do you suggest they sit? On the wings? your blatant ignorance of basic aviation procedures leaves me gobsmacked.
Geez, calm down. I knew very little bit about flight attendants. Maybe the flight attendants sitting on passenger seats is normal, but the way the attendant sat on the business class seat in this video is awful to look at. (she sat down and looked at her smartphone like a lazy person)
In most of the flights of AI heading from BOM/DEL to COK, I have seen a lot of deadheading crew, some of them get business class seats and some the economy seat, In the most recent two business class flights there were 2 revenue pax and 6 crew but they did not wear uniform but had an id card of Air India, the service for the them was same as that of regular passengers
While I’ll agree with your reaction to boneheaded crew, I’ve reservations on your take on the lounge issue. Despite being CV Platinum member, I’ve faced this issue on multiple occasions. India, being land of a billion+ people, and rising disposable income, credit cards with free lounge access issuance on the rise n airlines having pathetic food choices, this crowd is understandable. In fact flying on Thai airway BOM-BKK in business class, There was no lunge access in Mumbai. I had to wait out the 3 hours in terminal as The Priority Pass was not on me.

I use to fly out of BOM late at night every 3 weeks (international). All airlines used the same lounges. They were alway crowded late at night. Morning was not too bad.

I really hope they can do it, but they are obviously 🙄 up against a certain mentality.
for your kind information igi airport is very serious matter while boarding or tarmac not allowed any such kind of photography due to security reasons .
Thanks for your always interesting videos. If I was only to compare the cabin lay out nand catering provided in this video to Brazilian equivalents, I would definitively be very jealous. Apart from high fares, you would quick realize that the domestic airlines are ripping-off their high-paying customers, with very little to offer to justify the premium class status. As for the VIP lounges, they are all overcrowded, basically open to any credit card holder (and family) and are basically non-existent in the domestic terminals.
i believed the hype and booked a vistara ticket...Air India which people enjoy thrashing was so much better than Vistara. The cabin crew weren't friendly unlike Air India who have always been kind and understanding towards me.
Planning my trip to India for next year and after this VDO, am definitely not flying with VISTARA or even Air India, rather fly with the budget airlines where atleast you know you are not getting anything. Cheers Josh
The problem we have here is, we don't have much of a say in choosing our Airline preference. Almost everyone chooses the cheapest possible flight, whereas the 2nd cheapest one has a huge price gap. If multiple airlines have prices within the same range, there'd be options for people to choose from.
There is an Indian RUclipsr who is mad that you are 'defaming' Vistara. A lot of people whose egos have been hurt over 'foreigner criticising India' are blindly agreeing with him. Just wanted to point out that this is really funny to me. You are just showing the truth and people who have no business with it are getting butt hurt with it.
Rn Tata is looking at merging AI with Vistara and AI has already hired a branding consultant who also worked in rebranding American Airlines to work upon the rebranding strategy. As they want the 30% market share faster, they are merging the airlines. The Tatas seem to fully understand the problems and are trying to fix it. Campbell Wilson is very particular about returning back the AI legacy just as it was in the past. I am optimistic about the merger. Only time will tell what happens.
Stopped flying with Vistara after my flight got delayed by two hours. I can understand the delay but the employees at gate could not provide proper update. They kept saying that it will be late by only half-hour. Prior to this, I had great experience flying in business and economy class.

Same in the US

Same in Spain.
In some Airlines Deadhead crew doesn’t wear the uniform but they have their ID

I remember similar rules when I was working at SkyWest, but I think United eased up a bit since then for NRSA. Not sure about deadheaders though.....

Same here. I have to behave better on staff travel, than she did on deadhead. 😂

1) Each airline is different, for example mine you can wear casual business clothes or uniform (I prefer Casual, sooo people dont look at you like helloooo i need help with my bag)
2) most of the airlines, do pay for Deadheading just like working a flight
3) the whole phone situation is more like a personal thing. Like me, I don’t use my phone while Deadheading PERIOD (I just thing is rude talking on the phone, on speaker, or facetime, while boarding and thats including actual revenue passengers, but thats my personal Opinion)
3) I normally tried to board last if I am Deadheading.
Correct.
I remember it being the same in 2017/18 when I was part of LH Group as crew member :)
In todays modern world everyone has a smart phone, you can not stop people from filming if they wish to do so. India included.

The phone doesn’t offend me, its the seat being reclined and she in a slouch position
My understanding is that if you're deadheading then you're not in your uniform, but you're still working. So, you still have to abide by the rules of your airline.

Great video, I was a A&P mechanic in the US and any maintenance center problems are a major concern.
Different levels of standards !!

Wow it's the first time I see a plane boarding procedure from the right side door, so fascinating😄
Kinda my Air India experience: crew was sitting on the floor, playing cards. When I asked for something to drink, it was “help yourself!”
If you think Air India will become worse than it was when it was with the government, I don't know what you're smoking.
@@lorddiegocosta3307Pakistan is as good as Somalia. Don't even mention it.
Very good point. She could have been an excellent “Brand Ambassador”.

Never ending love story.
Appreciate the effort ur putting to expose them if people like u don't call out them they will not improve.
Surprised as to how Tata group remained a spectator in its downfall and more surprising at world class Singapore Airlines being mute at the downfall
I flew on Vistara from Pune to Bangalore and it was pretty decent
It is not called Harassment, he didn’t know English fluently, and used the Hindi accent to talk to you, so it’s just fast conversations
I'm glad you get to expose those companies that are toxic and they disregard people. The customer is the boss no matter what .
It’s really nice to see some good honest consumer advocacy. So many companies and their employees think it’s acceptable to abuse the customer.
Josh , I don’t think I would eat or drink anything, after that aggressive behavior. You are very brave to fly that Airline, after they figured out, you have given them a bad review.

Go easy on the ground staff.
They don’t want to get in any trouble by the safety officers by allowing people to take videos inside and outside the plane.
There are no defined rules for how to act when passengers have a camera, recording everything, especially in India.
You need to do more travelling Vamos! In India you can film whatever you like as long as you are not stepping on anyone's feet. In some States, you can even film an open army barracks in rural areas.

Here in USA when deadheading most of the airlines will not let you sit in business class or first class, you have to sit in economy. Most of us put a jacket or something to cover our uniforms while passengers are boarding so they dont see we are crew. It feels sad to see these airlines and crew member ruining nations (INDIA) name for the sake of their cheap attitude. If you cannot level with up International travel service Do not start that sector. Indigo would charge Rs.160 for the cup of Chai on their international flight Lol!
As Air India is the dominant entity. Vistar’s bad product and service should be overshadowed by Air India!
The key word however is, “SHOULD”.
@@michaelreid8857 unless Tata shows genuine interest in rectifying their existing issues, there's a possibility of having a spillover with the Air India brand if acquisitions to push through

They shouldn't have spat in Josh's food, but I'm disappointed that he said he would've done the same thing in their position. Maybe he was joking, but it's made me see him differently from now on.

Darling it's called deadheading crew... Not assigned any duty...
Sorry forgot to mention that you were totally correct about the staff on air Vistara , flew with them in may UK-del

It's an airline problem. Nothing to do with being Indian. You don't see such crew in other Indian flights. I travel regularly to most parts of India and back to Oregon.
I use to fly out of BOM late at night every 3 weeks (international). All airlines used the same lounges. They were alway crowded late at night. Morning was not too bad.
Whenever I see you are flying ✈️ Vistara, I think “what does Josh Cahill have to endure now?” There are just certain airlines I avoid in India 🇮🇳 and Vistara is at the top of my list. I would love to see Air India 🇮🇳 transformed into an airline India could be proud of. Tata has been a leader in Indian business for a while.
