That is just so kind of you. Thank you for making my day and sharing! 💜
i always search which tutorial is easier for me with the same results, and i just love the way you made and explained this one. thank you so much! do you think this can be sewn right on a batting or interface a bit bigger so you have enough room for fabric, then cut to size like you did?
I think you absolutely could sew it right on to the batting and possibly do a quilt as you go type of quilt! I like the way you think 😍😍
I generally avoid jelly roll tutorials because I like my quilts to have lots of different fabrics. I inherited my mother's 30-year stash of quilt fabrics, so I can't justify buying more, but I love this one because you can just use your own scraps instead of buying a jelly roll! I am really focusing on scrap quilts to use up fabric (so I can buy more, LOL.) I also belong to a quilt guild that donates quilts for community service projects, so this would be a quick and easy quilt for donating!
Yes! I love your thinking :) Make lots of beautiful quilts with her fabrics.... and then build your own stash 🥰
Hello! New subscriber here! Thank you for posting and I'm looking forward to your next video.
Awesome! Thank you! 🥰🥰
I love your channel! I started a quilting course many years ago but was not able to finish. Instead of trimming the french braid, could you continue adding pieces on the sides?
You absolutely could. It might end up with some weird y seams when joining them together? Or you could trim the sides and join with other blocks. Good to keep thinking. Let me know if you try it!
This is adorable. Love all your videos.
Very important question 😊: what is the brand and name of your nail polish? It’s beautiful.
Very Important question indeed. It is a gel nail polish... That is about all of the information I have 😬 I usually let my manicurist pick for me. I asked for something in the pink sparkly family and this is what I got. I am very much enjoying this color though! I'll try to remember to ask next week when I go back.
Super! I wondered why you were cutting the specific size of 2-1/2" x 6" in your video last week. When I asked, you said a tutorial is coming, and this was a winner! I have tons of scraps and this block can be used in so many ways!
Yay! I'm so glad 😘 I thought you would love this one! I can't wait to see what you create with it!
Hey 👋 how are you doing?
Very beautiful can this be mixed and matched with quilt blocks? And the braid be the edge peice?
I don't see why not! That sounds like it would be beautiful to mix together! 😍🙌 Great idea!
Thanks for the tutorial, I will definitely try it! I had a question, do you have any tips on how to store jelly rolls after you open them and didn’t use all of the jelly roll? Thanks!
I usually wrap mine back up in a tight little roll and put a rubber band around it - It will never look as pretty as it did when it came from the store, but at least its together and can be stored with my other Jelly rolls 🥰🥰
So, about how many of those braided blocks will I need to prepare for a twin size topper?
This is awesome. Do you think it would work to just piece them together to make a whole quilt without having to trim them?
I think you could make them in really long strips the whole length of the quilt. If you didn't trim the sides you may have to get into some creative piecing or y seams to get them to all match up. I love your thinking in taking it a step further!
Thank you for your video. I was watching a video on how to do the braid, it said to cut 2 1/2 x 6 1/2” rectangles and 2 1/2 x 4 1/2” rectangles I knew something was wrong at least six pieces in.
Glad I could help!
This is fabulous I've wanted to try this but didn't know the name to find it. Grateful 💗 thank you. What Brand is that ruler you trimmed the block down with?
Most of my rulers are either Gadget Girl Brand Rulers or Omnigrid. 🤗
I like this French braid pattern. Does it have to be scraps?
No not at all, whatever you like.
If you were to cut the strip 8 inches or longer, would you need to increase the size of the beginning square?
Please show us a finished quilt or turn it into a table topper. Would love to see it as more than one block.
I will once I get there :) I have several other projects going on right now that I need to finish up!
I love how you presented this tutorial. Please send the link to purchase "Flatter". Thank you 😂
amzn.to/3G9YBlh here you go! there are lots of different colors and scents to choose from. I like the pink one and the new green one!
Wish you had shown how to make another one and join them.
If you started with longer rectangles would that have helped with keeping it centered?
That would be a great experiment to try! I'll have to try it next time I get the itch to make a braid block 😘 Thanks
hi,ty would be nice to cee the finished quilt ..ty
Do you have a video that you talk about what you do once you have sewn all the quilt pieces together. I am having a heck of a time with the borders and how to pick the batting
Hi Teresa, There are tons of videos out on youtube on those subjects. It is a bit overwhelming, isn't it? I actually have a virtual class (self paced) that I teach the entire quilt making process start to finish. I find it easier to learn when you can ask your questions and get answers back (It is closed for enrollment right now... but it is opening up again next month) You can add your name to the waitlist to be notified when it opens here: iseestarsquilting.shop/mqmewaitlist-5782
Hmmm .... hello 👋 how are you doing today?
I am a new subscriber and love what you are doing. Can you please tell me what sewing machine you are using? Thank you and happy quilting!
Hi Mickey, I have a Janome Horizon 15,000. It's a beautiful machine. It is a higher level machine and NOT what I began my quilting journey on. If you're looking for a midrange quilting machine that has great proven abilities I suggest a Janome 3160QDC. I use that one for travel or smaller projects. I started my quilting journey on a regular cheap Walmart sewing machine and upgraded as I was able to. 😘
found your tutorial today, love it very explanatory can you tell me how long this ends up,and can you use 9'' instead of 6'' is it the same way, thank you very much simple and easy to follow
You can do any form of length on the pieces but it may shift how wide the pieces end up being. Do a test strip and see if it's what you like before you cut all of your pieces! 😘
@@ISeeStarsQuilting thank you
Just watched your video and could you use longer strip's ( 6inch ) and get the same affect. Thanks Wendy.
You absolutely could! Thats why I love quilting and sharing ideas - There is always new ideas that spark from them! 🥳
Christen! Great video and perfect timing too! I’m working on two panels quilts for a set of twins…boy and girl. They are identical teddy ears…but one panel has a pink bow and the other a blue. So cute…enormous for a panel. I could quilt it and bind it and be done…but of course a seasoned quilter aunty can and won’t don’t such things. This will make the perfect main border and wow…couldn’t be easier. TY for this awesome tutorial!
On another note….I notice you have a Janome Horizon. Me too! I have been having problems with my auto thread cutter and returned with machine in tow several times to my dealer. I notice you stitch auto cut and then stitch your next piece. Are you editing out pulling the needle thread and holding it while you make the first few stitches…or are you, as I suspect, just stitching? If I were to just stitch, I’d have a nest of threads and/or top thread breakage. My dealer tells me the thread cutter is not intended to work the way I think should. What say you…cause I’m getting ready to trade the machine in. I was also told that like my former machine, not a Janome, that when I stopped stitching if the needle was in the need down position, the foot would automatically lift half the full lift allowing for ease of pivot, etc. I kinda feeling a bit duped. 🤔
I forgot to mention, thank you in advance for your advice.
I have to admit that I have had absolutely no formal training on my sewing machine. I'm very much a figure it out as you go, kind of girl, but I am absolutely smitten over this machine. I love it so much. (love that we're sewing machine twins, by the way!) I do have 2 friends who have the same machine so I've watched them and sewn with them a few times. I've never held the threads for the first few stitches... I just sew and go. My first thought would be to ask what kind of thread you use in your machine. And I don't mean to sound snobish in any way, but the cheaper threads have more wax in them to keep them smooth. That can add to build up in your machine and cause all kinds of troubles. I usually use 50 weight thread and only the more premium brands. Aurofil is one of my favorites. Also, double check your needle size with the manual. I've heard of a few people having troubles that all came down to the wrong needle size - especially in the auto threading feature. I think there is a setting that you can adjust for the presser foot to automatically pop up a half bit, but I can't think of it off the top of my head. I usually just use the knee bar on mine with the needle down to pivot. If you have anymore questions, I'm happy to give my two cents, but I'm not an expert... You could also try calling a different dealer or repair shop and see what they have to say. it might help! ❤
@@mrslincoln5118 Hey 👋 how are you doing?
Try using scrap pieces of fabric to lead into your stitches. It’s called leaders and enders. It can help with the bird nesting of your thread. My first machine was a Brother from Walmart. It was a wonderful machine for piecing, but it was awful about bird nesting the thread. I have a Juki 2010Q now it’s not as bad at the nesting but still happens. I learned about using
leaders and enders from Lori Holt. Try it and see if it helps.
Thank You So Much For The Thread Tip!😄 I've been wondering & trying to find which thread would be best. I've come to value your opinion, so I'm gonna try it! Thank You again!
