Thank you!!! I love this quilt and have wanted to make one - and I am a seasoned quilter! - but didn't realize the simplicity of the process. I am starting a baby quilt TONIGHT for a new little Texan, born yesterday, with this pattern. And whoever didn't like this site and posted a thumbs down, get some help.
I love your mat, the block sizes are so distinct and easy to see. Now your tutorial excellent no fancy quilting language and just straight up and direct. I have a jelly roll that is calling this to be made. Thank you again for your great and super easy to follow tutorial.💓
I saw one tutorial with a 2.5” to start, then a 4.5” then a 6.5”. Alternating the 4.5” with the 6.5”. So I’m trying that first. If it fails, my dog will get that one, to be honest he’s getting it no matter how it turns out! He will love it. Thanks for your ideas guys!

I'm a fairly new quilter and I can't express just how much I appreciated the way you explained this quilt. I've seen the pattern but have been afraid to try it because it looked complicated. Thank you so much for showing just how easy it is and I can't wait to make one!
Thank you thank you for this video. I'm a new quilter and have been needing to make a quilt for one of my grown up grandsons ... all in black and white (geometrical patterns). It has been daunting trying to find a pattern that I thought I could actually accomplish and I think this will do it. In fact, I have almost finished a row. So excited.
Have been wanting to make a French Braid quilt for a long time. Your video tutorial shows just how easy they are to put together. I will make one in Christmas fabrics today and hope it turns out as nice as your did.

Thank you! Great instructions. I had a jelly roll in my stash and always wanted to make a braided quilt. You made it quick and easy a after 2 days I had the top done!!
Maybe “ bulk” isn’t the correct term . It was simply an observation. I have never sewn with the fabric to the right of the needle. I’m not saying it’s wrong. He didn’t need to flip the fabric over to sew that seam. Carry on Brody. If I was any more loose I would unravel.😉
Odd that RUclips suggested this to me tonight. I’m not a quilter! I have made three quilts though in the past 6 years. When a friend told me she was making a mask scraps quilt and then said mine scraps were too small I decided I would make a mask scraps quilt. I cut all the 2.5” x 6” pieces I could. Then started making blocks from my smallest blocks. I only finished 5 - 8” squares before I stared back to college. Nontraditional student. So today I started making the braid from those 2.5” x 6” pieces. Thank you for the review.
I use left and right 45°angles, cut in pairs "R" sides together. I don't use a starting square, I partial seam the cut off top bits onto the base. All the angles go to the outside, which gives you straight edges. No waste.
@@miladorotea2338 I starch all my fabric right before I use it. I NEVER buy the stuff in a can I buy StaFlo liquid starch & use I part starch & 2 parts water. I use a spray bottle to apply or if they are large pieces I use a pail.
It was interesting to watch you sew the 6" strips together: you always put the newest strip on top. That meant that every other strip you were using the left side of your presser foot as a guide and the excess fabric was in the throat plate area. I probably would have flipped my piece over so that the newest strip to be added was on the bottom and I could continue to use the right side of my presser foot as my guide. I assume you choose to leave the newest strip to be added on top? Any special reason for that? Thanks! I love making braid borders!

😍😍So sorry I am just catching this .I am trying to catch up on the comments. Hope to do better in the future. Thanks for watching our lives. We appreciate it !!!!!!
Thank you for this easy to follow video. Loving the way it's turning out but my first braided row is measuring 7 1/2" wide after drawing my trim line but the pattern said it should measure 6 1/2". I''ve double checked the pattern and I'm using 6.5" pieces and 1/4" seams. An inch wider is quite a bit so I don't want to keep making some kind of mistake on subsequent rows. Any ideas?
Hello! That was an older jelly roll that we had for just a short amount of time. So sorry about that! We currently have lots of beautiful jelly roll options here: sewyeahquilting.com/search?type=product&options%5Bprefix%5D=last&options%5Bunavailable_products%5D=show&q=jelly+roll Thanks so much for watching!
Thanks for watching! The quilt shown in the tutorial is 43" x 68". So you would still probably need close to the same amount of jelly roll as shown in the tutorial. Here is the link for the pattern. bit.ly/3bpKnMP I hope it works out for you! Send us a picture of your finished product!
Hello! You should make sure all your fabric is pressed before you begin. Then you are usually fine to just iron the finished top before quilting. I hope this helps. Happy quilting!

I never cut my chevron until I have the sashing sewed on. Where he cuts I mark & sew sashing on because all those side pieces r on the buas

Did you cut the second set at 7’? I try to really focus in on details, it’s how I learn
Pretty sure it was an error. I noticed it too
You could always keep adding more until all your pieces have been used. Then trim sides and top and then cut into 7 inch lengths.
