Piping, yes please!! I love your vids. Your style of teaching is easy for me to understand and not everyone can accomplish this. What I would like you to do is show us how to design and block and quilt on graph paper then go all the way to the finished quilt. Make the math easy for me, I struggle with that part. Thanks for all that you share, you are an incredible person.
One thing that helps to minimize bulk in the corners is to make sure the direction of the fold in the miter are in opposite directions on each side, I hope that makes sense😊
Hi Christine, love , love your video's. I'm going to try the 3 inch binding on my next quilt. Still don't have my sewing room set yet I hit a bump in the road. December 14 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. So with surgery and radiation I'm just now getting back in the swing of thing. I'm so excited to get back to what I love so much and have a lot of new patterns I want to make. Keep up the great work you do!
Angela, good for you getting back to quilting. I am 74 and struggle with my health but when I have energy I try to get back to my quilting too. It’s encouraging to finish. Praying for you to stay strong and healthy so you can do all the things you love to do too. God bless.❤️✝️🙏💐
Thank you Christen. I am almost ready to bind the quilt I am working on for one of my daughters and I am going to use the 3” binding. Thank you for showing us these great tips. Hope you have your power back. Our vet clinic in Houston just received power two days ago. God bless.❤️✝️🙏
Angela, I’m so glad you’re getting back into the swing of things after your breast cancer treatment. Wishing you all the very best. Charlotte, a fellow breast cancer survivor.
Hi Christen! Could you hear me cheering for this video??! Your teaching style is wonderful. Piping, or anything else you want to explore will enrich my experience...so grateful to you from Canada.
Christen, thank you for all you do and for being such a good instructor on all your videos. I've seen that piping call flange in other videos I don't know if it would be the same thing but I'm so very interested in seeing how you do it; when you say easy I say I'm all in. By the way, you have beautiful hands and I love watching hands at work creating😊
I've watched a BUNCH of videos on bias tape mitered corners and yours is the first that says to line up the corner of the quilt with the needle. That is the exact detail I needed!! I could not figure out how to make sure I was getting the correct angle. Thank you!!!
Thank you. I always wanted to do this, but did not know how. Your video was explained and really like the way you are funny but learning at the same time.
I LOVE your sewing space and love all of your videos. Thank you for helping me along my quilting journey. You’ve been such an inspiration and a wonderful teacher for years. Thank you 💗
❤ahhhh, thank you. I also really love the❤❤❤ 3" binding suggestion, that makes perfect sense! I have so much fabric, I absolutely have to use it up, and this will greatly speed up my finishing techniques. I also make journal covers so this technique will work great on those as well. You really explained it well. Excellent video.
Gorgeous quilt! I love everything about it, too, and I'd absolutely love to see a video of you showing the little extra pizazz you added for the binding! Thank you for this!
Omg! I just spent 4 hours working on the corner of my first quilt. I had this video but didn’t watch until now…talk about frustration! I just sewed the corner following along with your simple clear instructions and Voila! TWO minutes and I’m DONE! THANK YOU, thank you thank you!
Thank you! Enjoyed this lesson. Question: since you use 3” binding, do you sew it to the back using a wider seam than 1/4”. My brain is thinking that if not, then you have a much wider binding in the front. Thank you for clarifying.
Thank you for your info about the acrylic binding holder. I shared your video about how to do mitered corners. I saved the video and am anxious to try it myself.🎉
Love your tutorials! Making the perfect binding miter corners is a hit N miss for me; never consistent. Going to make some sandwiched squares to practice your technique. Wish me luck! Oh! I tried the 3” binding and LOVE it! Sooo much easier! Thanks again!😊
Hi Christine, Great video so well explained as well as being adorable, I love the tiny edge with this, I have to think you sewed this up so precisley, I am going to try it, first on some placemats, it will give me lots of corner making practice. Best to you.
OMG thank you thank you soooo much for showing us this tip, no matter how hard I tried I could not do a corner, now I can THANK YOU AGAIN, you are the greatest 😀
Hi Kristen. I'm happy to see that you and your family have made it through those storms. Mitered corners hate me, but your guidance in this video might be the help I've needed. Please stay safe and well. ~~ Lynne
Before you fold the binding over, diagonally clip off that tiny corner of the quilt inside he seam allowance to remove the bulk in that corner and you will get the flattest, sharpest, mitered corner ever.
Please make a video on the faux piped binding!! I’ve seen that before and would love to learn the technique! Thanks for this video! I didn’t realize you were in the Houston area. I am in Cypress! Hope you made it through with as little damage/financial loss as possible. We’ve had some crazy weather! Love your channel! ❤
Hi,this is the first time I’ve come across your channel and I have to say what a very clear demo of quilt binding ,thank you . I look forward to more videos.yes to to piping please xx
Hi Christine. I love this miter corner method. I’m anxious to try it! I do not know which video you show this tool that you have. It’s that multicolored beautiful binding holder that was made with, I think, acrylic. You gave the location to get one and I guess I copied it wrong. Would you please give me that Shop to purchase that beautiful binding holder. I hope this makes sense and thanks again for the great video! Jeanne
This is a great video! I was hoping to see how you join the binding ends when you’ve finished stitching it around the quilt edges. And Yes, I’m very interested in learning how you made your piped binding.
I am fairly new to any kind of sewing and I’ve chosen to only 100% hand sew large story/memory/photo quilts. I have finished quilting my second only queen sized quilt, which I have so far taken 15 months and I only have a large photo film reel appliqué to quilt on top. I struggled with my 4.5” bindings on both quilts. I finally did succeed but it was quite challenging and, seriously, took me a couple of days to sort out. Even though I don’t do any machine sewing, you have made these mitred corners look so easy . I have two more quilts to make after this one and I will certainly use this tutorial. Thank you very much.
Are you turning the binding down and over the stitch line where you sewed it to the quilt or is it lining up with the stitch line? I was taught to line it up with the stitch line. It looks like both ways, I can't really tell that's why him asking. Your video is great! I'm going to now try a 3" wide binding! And I love the 2 fabric binding, I'd have never thought to do that!
I turn it over where it overlaps the other stitch line. You could experiment both ways and see which you prefer? Good luck trying out the 2 fabric binding! It is a fun one to learn.
I had started doing 3" bindings in lieu of 2.5". I also found it so much easier to get perfect mitered corners using 3" binding. I think some of my fellow quilters thought I was crazy. You just affirmed that I'm not alone using 3" binding. Either that or we are both crazy!
Just found your channel today. Enjoyed your video. So glad you are safe after those storms. Was hoping to use your longarm service, but I don't think I have 10 inches all around. I'm new to quilting and didn't know I needed to leave 10 inches all around. Maybe next time. Many blessings!
This is how I do my binding except I use 2 1/2” binding. I Believe I will try your 3” bind and I had never thought about using a flat took with the corners. Great idea. Shared this with my cousin, she is my sewing buddy. Thanks
Love hearing ok to use 3 inch binding. I have always wondered if that one half inch would be better to wrap around. Yea, You gave me a push., I’m doing this next quilt. Would love to see The piping instructions. Glad to meet you And thank you. ☺️
YOU JUST READ MY MIND!!!👍👍🤩 YES!!! i would absolutely love to learn how to make that type of binding!!! it is GORGEOUS!!! and so is your quilt!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH for this awesome tutorial!!!!❤
I use 2.5" binding but I changed the way I was previously making my corners to the method you demonstrated. It was a game changer and my last three quilts were so much easier to turn the binding.
Christine, I have always struggled with binding, don't know why, but I tried 3 inch binding, OMG, what a game changer. My binding on my last quilt was almost perfect. Thank you so much for the tip!!!

Ditto! Would love a video on that technique. It's such a nice little touch but looks so "fancy"!
@ellenmcphate1441 you said "ditto" that brought back memories and a smell flashback. We won't say how old we are.
One thing that helps to minimize bulk in the corners is to make sure the direction of the fold in the miter are in opposite directions on each side, I hope that makes sense😊
Yes, you are so right.
