Thank you for the video Heidi Yours is the first demo of making mitred borders than I can understand! Its given me the courage to actually try for myself! (mitre is how we spell the word in UK just in case someone thinks I can't spell!!)
You have just made my day! I have watched so many videos on how to miter borders and I just became so confused. Your no-nonsense approach really works for the way my brain gets things. THANK YOU!!! I'm subscribed forever. I know I can learn so much from you!
@@TheWhimsicalWorkshop please confirm about adding the 4 inches. Is it 4 inches on each end? What if your border is 7 inches wide? Still add 4 inches? Cuz I just pieced a very expensive border and added 4 inches to it, and it's looking like it's going to be way too short. I'm devastated.....
@@kschallert3569 You should be adding 4" to the overall finished size of the border. (which is the width of the quilt top plus the border width on each side (in your case 14" + quilt center +4" additional inches.) I hope this helps
Excellent video. It was easy to follow and made making mitered corners super easy!!! It was my 1st time attempting them because it seemed so intimidating. They are not now! 😊Thank you so much!!!!!!!!

13:13 Thank you for the clear instructions for mitering the cornes on my blanket but I guess i'm going to complicate matters as I am putting satin binding on a woollen blanket! Do I just miter the binding from both sides, topstitching the sides last?! Luella G.
Thank you for this just what I needed, but how do you finish the quilt layer a piece of cloth on the back?.what if I want the outside edge to fold over the the wrong side to finish it?
Hi There, This is just to add the border onto the quilt top. To go through all the steps, I recommend my playlist on how to make a quilt. I go over all the basics including your questions above. Hope this helps! ruclips.net/p/PLSJ_sqvz042vVeSwEB5bm9HxCvQHZ9FZK
I am putting a baby guilt together and the back and batting are sown together..I want to miter the corners. Do I need to cut away the batting before I see the 45.
I did not design this group, it is such a pretty group from Northcott Fabrics that came out last year. The group is called "Make a Wish". You may be able to still find it online. Thanks for watching.

Love the video about mitered border. How much border fabric do you leave past the edge at the corner?
I add 4" to the finished size of the quilt in each direction
Going to do my first mitered border and was lucky enough to find your demo! Thanks so much. I don't feel quite so intimidated now. Very clear instruction.

I'm having a mind freeze. What happens to back of quilt binding and corners?
I am putting a baby guilt together and the back and batting are sown together..I want to miter the corners. Do I need to cut away the batting before I see the 45.
Is there a way to miter a border in Quilt As You Go....that is with front, batting and backing all together.
Sadly, I do not know? I have not done one this way.
I have done mitered borders 3 times and it has kicked my tush all 3 times. Let's see if it's easier with your direction!
Hope it worked out!
Dang--love the fabric. Do you design that as well? Just beautiful and can I get them in the UK?
I did not design this group, it is such a pretty group from Northcott Fabrics that came out last year. The group is called "Make a Wish". You may be able to still find it online. Thanks for watching.
Mitered corners #1
Do you press the seams to the side or open on the mitered corners?
I tend to press them to one side. Thanks for watching
How would you do a mitre on the binding

But what about the unfinished edges?
THANKS 🪡

Too fast and complicated for me! 😂 i think i need a bit more step by step from the raw beginning
Noted! Thanks. I am working on a new one
I have to watch you again .it was confusing for me
That's more confusing I'm sorry
GREAT tutorial !! video not that great though. Couldn't SEE what you were pointing out even when I ENLARGED to video.
