OOOOooooOOOO you could make it reversable, one side Thanksgiving and the other Christmas. The same with Spring and Summer. Great tutorial.
Great idea, thanksgiving and Christmas in one placemat!
That's exactly what I did, Christmas patterns in the braid, then a autumnal backing fabric. 😊
Green binding goes with every season accept patriotic ones!
@@patriciamcgarr3183 Depends where you live. Green would be very patriotic if you were Mexican, Italian, Hungarian, Nigerian...
I guess you could use jelly roll strips, since the pieces are 2 1/2"? I have some Christmas fabrics that would make pretty placemats... Thank you, Misty for this awesome tutorial!
I’m always shocked at the negative comments people make on these free videos! If you have half a grain of sense you could figure this out by following the pattern, Misty’s words and the video. Beautiful placemats, Misty and you did an awesome job! Thank you for sharing your talents with us.
What negative comments? I didn't read anything negative.
This is a wonderful use of the charms and the mini hexi ruler. Thank you for sharing. Nothing wrong with this video. I watch your video every Tuesday at some time.
Thanks Misty... great idea for using the charms. Tip was good idea to cut charm in half first, then use the half hexi template.... wish there was a little more overhead camera work for initial steps to create the the braid. Love this placemat!!
@@ceciliaschleicher278 some people just look to get attention and likes for their ''positivity'' .
fake positivity is a big trend these days
@@rosesbaker I know, but Im so directionally challenged. Prob get the pattern. 😊
If you turn the template so the long side is in the middle, you cut it in half without having to use another ruler. More motion and time efficient.
Julia Dixon I made the one set from the pattern but never thought of turning that template thank you for that tip👏
The half-hexi braids look so much nicer than the ones made with rectangular pieces; much more like an actual braid and not just a zig-zag. It's so easy, too; once you've stitched the first two pieces and wrapped your brain around the orientation, the rest is a breeze. This would be a great beginner project, since it's a simple technique with impressive results. I made a pair of braids to use as a backing for a table topper, and it turned out so pretty that I decided it was going to be the front, instead 🙂
That would be a great place to put a decorative stitch all the way around
Agreed
You girls are such an asset to MSQ and to us…I learn so much watching you. Thank you so much.
I just ordered this great little ruler AND the larger one, can't wait to get them and test them out.
I have to say every single time you said PIVOT all I could think of was Ross telling the Friends gang to pivot the sofa... lol!
Loved this! The plcemat looks great with or without binding. What a great gift idea. It's so quick & easy to make. Thank you for another great tutorial.
I like this format. It’s not important to me that it’s live or has another person injecting comments. Good job no matter how it’s done cuz it’s about the project for me!
Awesome idea. Would make a great house warming gift. You can make these in any colour. Love them.
I never could wrap my head around a pioneer braid quilt top design... this makes it easy! Thank you!!
Misty, I love your tutorials! You make it look so easy. This is something I can definitely make!
Thank you for a great video. You always make things not so scary looking. I’m excited to try it. I love the fabric you used.
Thank you, Misty. I've always wanted to try the braid pattern. Good demonstration of the technique. I've never been quite sure how to best make a placemat since there are so many options of product to use. I liked the way you enclosed the bosal. The outcome looked very pretty.
This can be a stash buster also. Great tutorial as always Misty.
Beautiful job Misty. I really enjoy seeing all your videos, and new ideas with an old favorite.
I loved doing my Christmas placemats like this. But I'm binding mine like the original tutorial. Great beginner project as it looks quite difficult with the half hexies but once you know... 😉
The placemats are super nice! I love the fall colors. Bet this same pattern would work for all the holidays.
I made two of these half-hexi braid placements earlier this summer in grey, lime green, and muted sherbet orange colors with a little yellow here and there. They came out great, and they were super easy. This is a great project, even for a noob like me.
I made some Christmas ones and binded them but, I love this idea of no binding! Thank you for another great tutorial! Love that fabric line!
Great job, Misty!! You and Jenny and Natalie are the best teachers. Thank you for all you do!
Sew simple and cute. Change up the fabrics for any holiday or season. Awesome. Thank you Misty.
Love this tutorial! Easy to follow directions! Going to recreate a few of them! Thank you!
Thank you Misty that was awesome! I was so impressed I went out and bought everything I need to make these too!! Super easy! You all are the best :)
These will be perfect for making for Meals on Wheels donation placemats! Can't wait to do this pattern! Thanks for sharing.
I love the braided look. I made some smaller versions (mug rugs) after the triple play. They are too cute! Thanks for the inspirational projects MSQC.
There are so many applications for this braid. I really like this method so there is less wasted fabric.
Thank you for explaining this so clearly and showing how you troubleshoot along the way!
Thank You Misty.
Oh my goodness, super cute!!
That fabric is gorgeous!
I think a self binding would have looked terrific too. Just cut the backing 1 inch wider all around then fold over twice and stitch down. Thankyou for a great tutorial.
Beautiful placemats Misty! These are wonderful. I’m adding these to my wish list.
I finally got to using my half-hexie template! Thank you again for demonstrating how to put them together!
Love this pattern using to make mug rugs
Love this!! Thank you Misty!

Molto molto bella!!!! Grazie ciao a tutte
I love them Misty. I love working with bosal and I love the half-hexi braid. I'd like to make some in beach colours because it's summer here and we live by the sea. Great for the outdoor table when we are having a BBQ. I always love your presentations.
Bosal is a new tool, to use. Looked easy!
@@nancy-katharynmcgraw2669 It is I love using it for bags, placemats all sorts of things.
What a great simple project! Thank you for a very clear tutorial
Misty, this a perfect and quick project for my home and use as gifts, I love it 😍
Totally love these!!
Great job, beautiful placemats. The result looks more difficult than it actually is. Thank you Misty!
What a clever and easy way to create the braid - easier and saves fabric compared to traditional way! Also, Misti, that red color is gorgeous on you!
Loved the video and i havent ever seen the foam stuff but looks great . Thanks for sharing .
Fun project! Thanks ☺️
Great job, Great ideas for gifts...quick,great project for every Holiday...
Thank you for this. It's super cute and I'm thinking Christmas presents!
Great job on this video... seems so very easy and quick, too. Thanks for your sharing your expertise. Blessings to y'all.
FYI I like cutting Bosal 1/2” narrower (removing bulk in seam). Center & fuse it, then stitch….. you get a flatter edge.
That is a clever idea!
I would round my corners as, for me, it's easier to turn the fabric & I don't have to get fussy with the corners.
That’s the way I cut mine. It’s a Loy easier to stitch up.
Super von Dir erklärt und gezeigt. Von Anfang is zum Ende...Danke
Thank you so much for the videos!
Gorgeous!
Love this tutorial. I like the top stitch 😀. Thanks for sharing!!!
Love these! 🧡
You are such a great teacher!!!

Wunderschön Danke dafür
Loved this cristmas COSTA Rica
Nicely done, Misty. It’s always a pleasure watching you cheerfully and enthusiastically teach my favorite hobby so well. I did get a giggle out of you measuring 15” on your mat with a 15” ruler in your hand.
😂😂
She's just being accurate, instructing for those of us who may not have a 15" ruler available.
@@nancy-katharynmcgraw2669 of course. Never doubted it.
You do a great job
Great job
Love Misty ♥️ and every project she does but missing the lives! Miss Liz!
Hello from Devon in England.
Looking for ideas to use fabric in my stash. These look lovely.
Superb
WEIDA from Colorado Springs, Co. love the show
One can always cut the Bosal 1/2” shorter in width and length and then you don’t have to deal with it in the seams and corners.
Hello from Western Nebraska
Hello from northern Illinois!
I thought Misti was live on Tuesdays? When did that change? Loved the placemats..
Don't FORGET TO SMASH HER LIKE BUTTON!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Probably in Houston or getting back from the Intl. Quilt show over the past weekend.
If you sew the 1 1/2 “ strips end to end, you could then sew one to each side of the braids before you cut them into 15” segments. Less measuring and more accurate.
What i love about all the tutorials is that I can see how the experts make things, and the pressing isn't perfect and the seams aren't 100%, but it turns out amazing! These give me more and more confidence to try new skills and I very much appreciate it. THANK YOU!!! ITS BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
