  • We’re starting a new tradition here at Missouri Star: Triple Play! Once a month, Jenny, Misty, and Natalie will each demonstrate their own, unique take on a classic MSQC pattern. This month, our talented Doan ladies are demonstrating three new tumbler patterns. And, as always, each of these projects is quick, easy, and lots of fun!
PATCHWORK TUMBLERS: Jenny's project is a big picnic quilt made with yardage and 2 packs of precut 10 inch squares (layer cakes). Her fabric is Land of Liberty 10" Stackers by My Mind's Eye for Riley Blake. These pretty prints come in classic shades of red, white, and blue--the perfect choice for a patriotic quilt or 4th of July quilt. Jenny uses the Missouri Star Large Tumbler Template for 10" Squares.
4 PATCH TUMBLERS: Misty's quilt is made with yardage and 5 inch squares of precut fabric (charm packs). Her fabric is Stardust 5" Stackers by Beverly McCullough of Flamingo Toes for Riley Blake. This pattern includes cute little four patch blocks made with quick and easy strip sets. Misty uses the Missouri Star Small Tumbler Template for 5" Charm Packs.
TUMBLER DASH: Natalie's quilt is made with 5" squares of precut fabric (charm packs). Her fabric is Loose Leaf Digitally Printed Charm Pack by Wishwell for Robert Kaufman. Natalie uses the uses the Missouri Star Small Tumbler Template for 5" Charm Packs.

Natalie! You just changed my life!!!! I would have never string pieced the triangles. I just did 82 blocks for my "four-patch lattice" quilt. I wish I would have waited one MORE day and saw this! You are brilliant! I love you for this!

Really the triple play, you ladies work so well together and support each other. You have created a cheering section for each other. I also like the over the shoulder camera shot it’s like we a right there next to you sewing along. Each project is truly different. Natalie’s block with sashing can be designed in very variations, it’s a game changer. Jenny’s is adorable in RWB, but I think I would make it in whole blocks instead. Misty’s baby quilt is a great fast quilt combining 2 simple blocks that makes a great new look. Keep doing what you’re doing, you’re a wonderful team. Women encouraging each other never gets old.

WOW What fun this was. Natalie is such a genius- so brave and creative and she is so CALM about it! I just love Misty's baby 4-patch! I think the chain would really stand out with a tumbler that is not blending in with the 4-patch color too! Like use pink for the tumblers and blue/wht for the 4-patches. You 3 all surprised each other!

Love the baby quilt with the four-patches layout. It's nice to know you don't *need* to have a MSQC tumbler block ruler to make these, but for a design like that one it's likely very useful to have the ruler because there's marking to show you where the centre of the block is. Natalie's design also gets one thinking. Thanks MSQC team -- another great Triple Play!
