- Triple Play! Jenny, Misty, and Natalie demonstrate how to make three different 3-yard quilts using yardage and the "Modern Views with 3-Yard Quilts" book by Donna Robertson for Fabric Cafe
Jenny's project: This traditional Jacob's Ladder pattern combines 4-patch and half square triangle blocks. Jenny used "Lake Views" yardage by Holly Taylor for Moda Fabrics.
Natalie's project: The Dominique quilt is a pretty, modern pattern that is made quick and easy with strip sets. Natalie used "Homemade" by Tula Pink for FreeSpirit Fabrics.
Misty's project: The Jigsaw quilt is another cute strip set project. Misty used "One in a Melon" yardage by Timeless Treasures

I just love that you had 3 how to videos in one and that you are keeping it a family business. Love you girls.
Thanks for finally using a pattern that takes yardage. I know you have pre-cuts readily available in your store, so they are easy for you to pickup and make something. But most of the rest of us buy yardage that we like, from quilt shops to the chains like Joann's. And some, like me, prefer 2-4 fabric coordinated quilts and not scrappy ones. Please do more yardage quilts. These were really nice. I can see several baby quilts in my future.
Thank you so much for using yardage! I'm on a fixed income and can't afford to buy those fancy pre-cuts. I love your work, thank you.
I love that you did a video with yardage! I know precuts are the basis of your business, but seeing yardage used is a great way for us to use our stash. Thanks so much.
3 Girls - 3 Quilts - 3 Yards So awesome Jenny, Natalie & Misty......and you ALL look fabulous!!!! Love Love Love Triple Play!!! Thanks!
I really love the description of how Jenny reacts to seeing a written pattern..."Waa wawaa, wa waawaa!" Exactly.
We want to get started, not labour over words, and then have to reread those instructions multiple times.
I love these videos. Thanks
It gave me a chuckle which is a great way to start my morning.
Me too! That’s exactly what I’m thinking!
I love Donna Robertson! Great teacher great lady! These patterns sew up fast!
Hi Carla! Thanks for the kudos ! Donna
It is said we should think of the things for which we are grateful daily - I am so grateful for Missouri Star and these videos. In these dark days, you are such a ray of sunshine and hope. Jenny, it is awesome to see you keep your family together.
Please tell Jake hello, too! Don’t want him to feel left out!
Thank you so much, Teresa! We're delighted to have you as part of the Missouri Star family! (And we'll let Jake know, too)
I agree with G.S. that being on a fixed income makes being frugal a must in anything we do. As we age (like fine wines) we develop health issues that restrict what we can do. I cannot stand or bend for long. So, for me, while the precuts are more expensive, they make quilting more accessible for me. I now make sure that what I do is more for my enjoyment rather than volume. I deeply love the Dean family for their kindnesses and their love of the craft, their community and their customers. Blessings to all of our quilting family.
Natalie I love your new haircut, looks so light and fresh, not to mention easy to style and go.
Jenny! Wah, wah, wah!!! I love it! That happens to me whenever I look at a pattern! Usually, I try to figure out what the author is trying to do and then do it my way. Most of my quilting happens without a pattern or with a very good idea of what needs to happen with the fabric. A lot of my oops moments turn into something really great! I love it that Natalie is getting screen time. I always look forward to the triple play to see what she has to offer. And the hair!!! It's so cute! Keep rockin' it! Then when Misty comes on you think everything has been said, then I get surprised and she offers something different! Triple.Play.Has.To.Stay.
This is why I can't follow a crochet pattern to save my soul! I know most stitches, but when I see sc3,dc7,sc10 etc. all I see is &$#$#)*@&$ translated to wah, wah, wah.
Jenny has been doing these tutorials for some time but Natalie & Misty are both looking so natural doing them too. You ladies look like you have fun doing these.
Jenny you are so on the Mark! I can't read a pattern, I have tried.. I struggle so much with this process, I found you on RUclips and my quilting world came alive. I have been watching for years and I have been able to bring so much joy to others with quilting.. Thank You! I am truly a visual learner😃 These patterns look approachable.
Delighted we inspire your quilting, Laura! Thanks for being part of the Missouri Star family!
Natalie!!! Your hair is super cute and sassy/chic! I love it!! And Donna Robertson’s books are so easy to follow and quick. This whole video put a big smile on my face!
You are NOT alone Jenny!
Many of us are challenged in this way!
YOU are an advocate...... saying "We CAN do this" !
Love love love the 3-yard quilts!! To use the 1 1/4" binding - sew it to a 1 1/2" inch strip (for flange part) - and that gives you a 2 1/4" strip to fold in half for a flange binding to machine hem. Even faster!
You are awesome! and one of the reasons my quilts are so good! thank you! Donna
Love the new Natalie.. You look gorgeous and you’re a great teacher too.. Jenny & Misty are beautiful too.. 🥰🥰
Natalie’s hair looks so cute!
Although I do love precuts, like many others I have a lot of yardage too. These patterns look like the perfect way to use up some of that stash! I'm always excited to see what Jenny, Natalie and Misty bring with each Triple Play!
I love to watch the triple play to see each ones style and fabric choices! My favorite this week was Natalie's, I love any sewing notion fabric, but the blues/greens are definitely my go to color way. Loved the quilt design too, it looks like flowers where the dark blues come together. Misty's was my second favorite, the fabrics scream summer picnics for sure! I just thought the white fabric had black dots, but should have known they were ants with the watermelon theme! So cute! Jenny's quilt was a great example of a boy/man quilt; a lot of times it is difficult to find fabrics that work well for our male friends. Have a great weekend everyone!
Absolutely love all your triple play tutorials! Three fabulously talented women, love all three of you and really appreciate all your tutorials since I am like Jenny, when I read a pattern it is often too confusing!
I love these three yard quilts! Natalie, we need to see more of you❣️🌷
I watch Fabric Cafe with Donna and just love the idea of three three 1 yard quilts. She doesn't show how you put them together and I'm a visual learner. This tutorial is just what I needed.
I’m relieved I’m not the only one who has an issue reading quilt patterns. This is probably the reason I’ve modified every pattern I’ve ever followed. Lol
Also, I love that first fishing collection- that mustard pops!
All three quilts are gorgeous! I love the bright and fresh fabrics! Look so forward to Fridays for a new video to come out! And enjoy the Tuesday videos and the extras you share with us!
Omgosh. I have patterns and have never used one because...wah wah wah wah wah. Solidarity, Jenny!
Natalie, your hair is darling!! I love it and of course the quilts are great as always!! I look forward to starting every Friday morning with Missouri Star.
I’m so glad you’re working with the Donna Robertson quilts! These are the greatest and easiest quilts to make. I think I’ve made at least 10!
I LOVE to see Natalie doing videos!! I bought her Binding video this past weekend and she’s such a great teacher! Would like to see doing more weekly videos. She moves a little slower for me lol. Still love you Jenny. Lol 😊☀️
I just love the three girls showing 3 ways so much fun ! thank you for keeping up with tutorials bless you all
Shut it down!!! This was killing it today! My 10 yr old and I wait all week for your Friday "toots" (10 yr old for tutorial). This book was a hit and we ordered it.
Where can I get the book?
Debra Yakel probably at Missouri Star Quilt Company. I think I heard Jenny mention them having the books in their shop.
I always enjoy seeing you three for the triple plays. Love the quilts you all made.
These quilt sizes are great for charity give always, nursing homes, hospitals, veterans hospitals, & so many more, great for anyone using a wheelchair etc. thank you ♥️
Hi girls. Thanks for showing what these 3 yard quilts are about. I have never been interested in them before. Being a scrappy quilter who cant get enough patterns in one quilt, lol, now I'm intrigued. Great job. Love all your tutorials. Stay healthy and keep up all the good work.
Hooray for Triple Play! I love seeing your trio of quilt ideas. Baby quilts would be fun using these patterns and would be a quick project. Natalie’s hair cut is darling!
Loved this tutorial. Natalie, you were so confident in your sewing today. A big thumbs up. Lindsay, Ontario,🇨🇦
The best thing about these books is she gives you the layouts for bigger quilts too. I bought one of her books and will be collecting the rest. Great way to use up fabric that you’ve been hanging on to for too long
Glad you found 3 yard quilt patterns. I love watching Donnas videos. The patterns make so much sense and come together very easily.👍🇦🇺
New quilter here and I'm so appreciative of these tutorials! Thank you ladies!
I want to make 2 of these for my twin grandchildren. They’ll be so cute and simple to make.
Love it.....Natalie, Love the haircut....it really becomes you!
I can't say one or the other was my FAVORITE....but TBH, I loved Natalie's fabric choices!! I like watermelon fabric too and Jenny's quilt was amazing too.
I look forward to the Triple Plays....I really do!
Thank you gals for modeling socially responsible behavior during the pandemic. Never underestimate your influence.
You three are such great ladies. I enjoy seeing all of you. I think this Friday each month will never come because each of you are wonderful with different go to style. Please stay well and keep sharing.
Natalie!!! Your hair’s ADORABLE! Great Choice!
You ladies have made this lockdown so much more bearable. I love your sweet faces & your sunny dispositions. Another Great video!
I just love a Girls Night In! Thank you so much!💚💜💙
I love Triple Play days! You all do such good stuff! The book looks great to use up some of my endless piles of yardage!
These quilts were awesome!!! Thank you Jenny, Natalie and Misty😊
I love your videos and look forward to these every Thursday night! Thank you for being a bright spot in my week!!
Oh yes! I love reading but I’m a visual person too.... thank you ladies
Sew Fun! Triple Play with the 3 girls is always a monthly favorite for me!! Thank you for helping me to stay busy and happy during this time of stay at home orders. Where I live in Maryland, we won't reach the beginning of Phase 1 opening until June 1st. SEW happy to have quilting as my creative play and distraction! Stay safe! A fan from Maryland!!
I love that you are doing this. I first learned about these 3 yard quilts when I received my Connecting Threads catalog this week. I fell in love. I went to her site and ordered a bunch of kits. I can't wait to get them. These are a perfect size.
I love the sizes of these quilts. I have two containers of Christmas and Halloween fabric and they would make super wall hangings and you gave us plenty of time to do them now. I do like the fish/outdoor fabric for my grandson who is a fishing nut. May do the Jacob’s ladder first. Now switch to your page to order the book. Thanks ladies, you all rock!!!!!
Got the outdoor/fish fabric today. Looking at the video again today and I did get the Modern Views 3-Yard book. The book is awesome, well worth it. Fun weekend. Thanks ladies...I am a visual person so the tutorials are a must🙏
Bought these books already. It was so much fun watching you do them. Triple fun actually!
I love her books and patterns!
Love your haircut Natalie! Thanks to all of you for bringing us these quick and easy quilts.
Awesome job!! This is great. They are easier than they look which is always nice and I loved all three versions. I love that they have more than one size for each pattern because I don’t really want to do a bunch of wall hangings. Thanks for sharing...great job all of you!!👍😀
Really loving these triple play demos - thank you
Love 3 yard quilt patterns..Fabric Cafe's!
I love this project quick easy simple yes ma'am love the Fabrics Happy Spring to you and your family be blessed and stay safe
!As always, you three girls are fun to watch and learn from. Thank you, I may need to add that book to my library. Love the idea. Also just read through what you are doing for your workers during sequestering. Sounds really well thought out, I am impressed, but not surrised. Thank you for taking care of all of yourselves, while helping us get through it too!
I love your tutorials Jenny. Thank you to you and your family. 🌸🇦🇺
Love the way u explain the layout make it so easy to understand. Love your videos Lorraine UK
I love this week's triple play! I definitely have to get this book because I have yardage vs pre-cuts. These are great for charity quilt patterns.
LOL I always pick my favorite, even though its not a competition. I like Natalies the best! All were great though. Triple play is my favorite week of the month.
Thank you ladies for this tutorial, such fun. I discovered Donna's books about a month ago and I'm waiting for delivery on one I purchased (I live in Ireland). Modern Views is the one I ordered so I was really delighted that the three quilts featured were from this book and I can't wait for it to get here. I wish that it was possible to purchase them as downloadables which would cut down on postage and the long wait for them to arrive. I am saving to buy all of them. Again, thank you for your cheeriness and enthusiasm it is just so uplifting. Bless you and your families.
Outstanding! As usual ! Love all three but Misty's fabric was a hoot! Stay safe ladies, thank you for all your videos & tutorials.
Such cute fabric.....all of your projects are super, colorful, speedy and I just love “triple play”!
I have made 2 of her patterns as gifts, sew much fun and easy. One was a baby quilt the other a king in Halloween fabric as a wedding present!
I love the quilts. I have some fabric. I think I'll try one. I'm like you so these will help me. I'm all about easy sometimes. Thank you ladies ❤️
.
Loving this so much!! I'm not a big fan of precuts, I'm a nerd and love cutting my fabric :-) Love that this is only 3 yards yay!!
I love your show, and I’m also glad to see you using Donna Robert’s pattern book. It makes it easier for me to understand. Thank you!
Natalie, love the haircut! You look great! You guys are so up on it.
I have almost all of the 3 yard quilt books because they are that good and that much fun! A note for double fold binding it only takes and extra 1/2 yard to do it. LOVE this video
I met Donna Robertson at a quilt show several years ago and fell in love with her quilts. I usually buy 4 yards of one of the fabrics: 1 for the top of the quilt and 3 for the backing. Thank you for showing this method, I can’t decide on a favorite quilt the three of you made. What fun.
That's a good suggestion!
Misty, your quilt makes me think of a picnic. Actually, I remembered family get togethers at Uncle Aut's house. Don't Paul and I would go to the watermelon patch to get melons in the summertime. He always made sure there were plenty for us to have melons to eat for several days. His children were grown but he still planted at least an acer of melons so the local boys had a patch to raid. As long as they didn't mess the vines up he would laugh and say he didn't believe he was missing any melons. Thanks for the fun patterns and for the trip down memory lane.
Thank you for sharing such wonderful memories, Susan!
I love these! I struggle with precuts, these are wonderful you can choose your fabrics!
Im so glad you said that about reading patterns. I find the same thing and thought I was the only one.
Natalie, you are a natural! Love seeing you on these tutorials!!
Those are all great quilts. I like Misty's watermelon fabric the best though. Thanks for the triple play!
Thank you so much all of you. Those quilts are so stunning and gorgeous too.....and what a great 👍 way to make a quilt. Stay safe and well too xxx Mags
I love, love, love triple play. Could watch them all day
I just love these triple play tutorials!! I get extra excited when my notification comes and it says "triple play!" Thanks ladies! Please keep them coming!! ~Liz
Thank you ladies! These are beautiful and easy projects.
I have EVERY one of Donna Robertson's pattern Books. Love them all. Also purchase a lot of her kits. Especially love her Patriotic fabric choices. To be sure the quilts are up to the National Quilt of Valor organization - I add a 4th yard and add a couple of borders on to the origional quilt and it is perfect. Can cut, sew and finish a quilt in one day's worth of sewing. They are amazing. Really fun when you use your own fabric and they come together. Recommend everything. Have made about 20 of her different quilts. All are completely amazing.
Thanks for another great tutorial. Love using yardage
Love these projects. Fabric selection was wonderful.
I love these books. I've been looking at them for a while but I'm excited all over again and will order them now. I'm glad Natalie said you can convert them to larger sizes. I've been wondering that and didn't see it in the book description. So excited about today's video!
Thanks for the great tutorials gals! Natalie...I love your new hair do and you look like you have lost some weight! Looking good girl!
Great triple play! I want to get the book and make all three!! Thank you for always keeping me busy, and inspired! Especially now during this tough time while I’m staying at home alone. ❤️🥰❤️
What cute fabrics on that watermelon one...loved the vibrant colors and of course the ant fabric!
Love love love the triple play! Great idea and fun to watch!
I love that Dominique quilt can't wait to try it.
I truly loved it. Plus, the different patterns and different fabrics. Thanks ladies! I really enjoyed this. Please do something like this again.
Thank you for sharing ❤️💗❤️💖🤗
Love them all.... And easy also.....
SENDING A BRIGHT WHITE LIGHT OF LOVE TO SURROUND THE UNIVERSE 🤗💞💖🤗 AND EVERYONE 🤗❣️❣️🤗💞💖🤗
Natalie, love the way your brain works. True art. Very inspiring and motivating. Missouri Quilts is a great site: helpful information and fun to watch.
❤Thank you for showing a tutorial using yardage!
I like that the fabric requirements are simple...3, 3, 3. 😊
Love these triple play days😁😁
I do enjoy your triple plays! This one was great as usual! Thank you for that!
