I just can't imagine you doing anything else except giving tutorials. You have such a gift for communicating instructions. I've watched your video on this tutorial several several times so that I can get it in my head and do it as I'm seeing you do it and it just gets simpler for me because of the way you put it out there. So thank you so much you have the sweetest and I mean the sweetest personality. You're the type of person that I would love to have for my best friend😊. God bless you on all your endeavors!!!💖. I'm a 78 yr old lady;. Didn't want you to think you had a crazy 😮 person on your hand. Ha ha
I'm Connie 😊
Thank you so much Connie, this means a lot to me.
Thank you for this tutorial. I had a spare jelly roll and guess what I'm sewing this afternoon. You inspired me. I made a Trip around the world 15 years ago ( my first quilt. I didnt' know about rotary cutters & mats so i ended up cutting each 2 1/2 " square with scissors and so my first quilt was born. I so appreciated your strip set technique .
YAY, can't wait to hear about it. So glad you were inspired.
I love your videos as you are calm and happy, which makes viewing so much better. You do a great job of teaching. Not everyone has this gift. Thank you so much.😊❤
You are so welcome, and thank you for your kind words. 😊❤
Finally a trip around the world tutorial that I can understand. Thank you so much!!!! It always looked so complicated but it's not. I can't wait to start on my TATW quilt.
Yay, I am so happy Pat. I can't wait to hear what you do.
Right? This is the first tutorial I think I can actually follow!
You are so brave. NO IRONING! Can’t wait to see how everything turns out.
Me and you both. :)
I’ve never made a quilt yet… but watching you makes me feel like I can do it!!! 😊
You absolutely can Donna! Just go for it, you will love it.
You can do it. My first 10 or so quilts, I cut all the pieces with scissors.
I didn't really know anything about quilts. This was in the late 80s b4 internet, so I just started to drawer squares and triangles and used crayons to fill in the colors.
My grandmother made many, so I had seen some of hers and drew from my memory. My first one was 1 6 inch block, then one 6-inch windmill block.
I used old clothes and fabrics from making clothes since I was about 10. I still have my very first one.
I put an old heavy wool blanket in it.
I tied that one. Once I started to teach myself to hand quilt, most of mine I did that way.
Don't be afraid.
Just do it.
If you have ever sewn anything, you can do this. If you have never sewn, you can do this.
If you don't have a machine, you can put your blocks together by hand.
1 person I met years ago, never used a machine to make her quilts. Yikes ....
Good luck. You CAN do this.
I LOVE this pattern but I love your technique even more! Great tutorial, def one on my to-do list now!
Thank you so much, that is so kind!!
You are a doll! I love the way you explain the where, what and the why of the placement of making this pattern! Thank you so much!
It was my pleasure, thank you so much for sharing!
I have fabrics that I bought when my husband and I were traveling cross country from Los Angeles to Washington DC. Most of it are calico or ditsy prints that reminded me of my grandma's apronsc house dresses. Had planned to make placemats and such, but now I think I'll make a trip around the world quilt. Maybe I should call it trip around the US! 😉
I love that, it will be so beautiful.
I am a beginning sewer and quilter and you make this process so easy to understand!! I love your tutorials- Thank you!!
I am so glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching.
I love your channel, your just a doll and your energy is contagious ❤️❤️
Thank you so very much Julie!
Love this so much!! I've seen these quilts before, but never how to make them. Thank you for breaking it down into manageable steps. A trip around the world quilt is now added to my list!!🌎Thanks again for your cheerfulness and enthusiasm!!🩷
You are so sweet Susan. Thank you for watching and sharing it means so much.
A beautiful quilt and thank you for sharing with us Christen xx
You are so welcome!
Omg I love this so much. I am the last generation in my family to have knowledge with sewing and stitching. I love how easy you make things for me to understand as well
as taking the stress out of it
You are so welcome!
I started pulling out my 2.5" scraps last night and if I need jelly rolls, I'll add some strips in. Going to shoot for a queen quilt.
Yay! I can't wait to hear all about it.
I like the fact you are open to try new things (let's not iron a single seam and see what happens). And, encouraging us to get out of our comfort zone ... if you've never pressed to the side - try it instead of pressing the seams open.
Thank you so much for sharing, and thank you for sharing that!!
Completed my first block for an upcoming baby quilt I’m working on. The expectant mother chose the Jelly Roll fabric for this. She asked me to pick the pattern. 🙏
Sounds great! What a special quilt that will be.
Your fabric choice is beautiful and your quilt came out gorgeous. I have watched several tutorials for this quilt pattern and yours is the first that I have seen, where the strips are cut in half. Thank you for the great tutorial and for inspiring others!
You are so welcome Suzanne, I am so pleased you liked it.
Watched this previously, now back to watch and actually make a quilt! I love watching your videos as they always are extremely helpful, and make me smile - you are so uplifting!
Yay, thank you! You are too kind.
Thank you so much. I have purchased quite a few books to try and make a trip around the world quilt and just ended up very confused. Your tutorial makes it's seem so doable. Thank you again.
You are so welcome! I hope you give it a try.

Спасибо ,очень интересный метод пошива.Первый раз вижу.Прекрасная идея.
Love your video. My first quilt i made was a queen trip a round the world. My blocks started at 5 inches. I love seeing all the fabric come together and make something beautiful and useful.
That is super adventurous for a first quilt! I bet it turned out gorgeous!!
Thank you for another wonderful video! I love the idea of using jelly rolls, I have often confused “ scrappy with crappy”. Nice job, Kristen!
LOL....scrappy is my middle name.
Thank you for your lovely video.❤ I enjoyed your sweet enthusiasm and shortcuts. Enjoyed the part about not ironing till the end of the piecing process. Well done!
Thank you so much for watching!

Beautiful fabric!
Thank you so very much Karen.
This has helped me so much now that I’m ready to put my quilt together. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
This is fantabulous!!! I took a couple of walmart jelly rollsvi had and combined them. A bit more repeat than I wanted but I love it❤ I figured out what makes sense to my brain to assure I put them together right. I plan on doing one with one good jelly roll. Very excited about this😊
Well done. It sounds like you are ready to get it done!
Excellent tutorial. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Enjoyed watching your technique & how you approached the non-stressful mentality…❤I quilt for FUN. And I see you do as well.Have not done pattern but am interested.

I absolutely love your tutorials
Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm glad you enjoy the tutorials.
Awesome Quilt
Awe thanks. It was a lot of fun.
Wow, this was a great way to spend part of my evening! Your quilt turned out beautifully! I'm amazed at the different fabrics you chose to use in your borders, they pulled everything together so well in the end. Wish you could have seen me grinning. You are very entertaining, and I felt like I was sitting right there with you as you sewed. Thanks so much! I'm going to try this, it doesn't seem as hard as I thought it might be.
Thank you so much! I hope you have so much fun while you do it.
I’ve always liked this quilt pattern. I like that it is in separate large blocks and could possibly done as a quilt as you go and join the blocks without sashing in a home sewing machine;)
I agree fully.
Gorgeous!❤
I m amazed with the way u explain in so detail. The best was the joining of strips to a loop n then cuttting n who u should to set the colour blocks to get that Trip Around The World. Thanks🎉 i m 72 yrs n now want to make Quilt for my grand daughters. Once again hats off to u my Lady. All the best
That is just so sweet of you. Your grand daughters will love it!!
Thank you for this video! Now I have a new “me” project to do. Again, thanks.
Wonderful!
Very nice!
Thank you Lucy.
I loved watching your videos. They are very through, easy to understand 😊.
Thank you so much!
I have so enjoyed watching this video! I like your humor, kept me watching
Aw thank you! I appreciate that! I try to keep it real and honest 🥰
You are Pleasure to watch. I'm a perfectionist so this method is a huge freeing process. I'm going to try this and purposely not Iron or finger press. I'm super nervous so I truly will give it my best shot. It's okay to not be perfect or have to frog sew every quilt... rip it...ripit....ripit... nope not today....
Yes, perfect is not the goal just enjoy the process.
I love the trip around the world quilts(TATW). I've never seen it done with small blocks before, I've made 3 TATW quilts that were just 1 big diamond in the quilt. Wish we could post a picture in the comments. Happy Sewing ♥️ 🧵🪡
That is awesome! I do too.
I've never made one of these but I've always had it on my list. You've made this so fun that now I want to get started! I love your technique. I'm one who presses my seams open, but I promise I'll follow your advice this time and press to the side! Time to look through all my jelly rolls!
Oh, I can't wait to hear what you do Beth. It really is fun!
Yes, it's next on my list.
Love your quilt!
Thank you so much Mary!
You are so good at teaching, thanks , definitely following this Chanel
Happy to hear that!
I love the way you teach!
That is so kind, you have made my day.
Omg i love love love your sewing machine, the quilt turned out amazing and wow i cant believe u did it all without pressing the seams something i have to try
Thank you so much! Yes let me know how it works for you.
Hello from Qaqortoq, Greenland. A trip around the world quilt sounds like lots of fun. Love your ideas! :) :) :) It's beautiful!
Very beautiful quilt, thank you so much!
Glad you like it!
I really really love the hint of not ironing. I’ve been wanting to make another trip quilt, and that hint will make it so much easier. Thank you.
You are most welcome. I love we don't have to iron everything.
Can you easily make the quilt bigger with using a second jelly roll ?! Love this technique - thnx so much for posting this easy to follow pattern
Yes, absolutely
Great tutorial.
I am so glad you liked it.
Great , I wish I knew this when I made this quilt 20 years ago. Thank you for that tip.
Just found your channel. Im a quilting newbie and your tutorials are such fun and easy to understand and follow. Guess what im making this weekend 😊
Yay, welcome! I am so glad you are starting to sew. Enjoy!!!
Thank you Christen. You are a great teacher. Even my old Mimaw brain could follow your instructions. I’m working now trying to add some borders to my second quilt. I pieced the top several months ago and i sure wish I hade watch your video on nesting seams. Oh well, my daughters tell me not to worry. These are your practice. Just learning quilting ar 73. I am learning. Thank you again.❤
Thank you so much for your sweet words... I agree with your daughters. learning comes only by practice and pretty soon, you'll be making beautiful quilts and designing even more than you can make! If yo have any questions, feel free to reach out. I'm happy to help! 🥰🥰
So enjoyed this tutorial especially with your enthusiasm! Love jelly rolls and saving this and putting on my to do list! Keep up the good work!
Judy, thank you for your kind words. I greatly appreciate it. 😍
Love it! And I hate ironing too. ❤
Yes.
I also do not like pressing. But I do press as I go
Set the seam and then gently roll open and press
Beautiful quilt
Love the press as you go. :)
Wow! So cute. I love stripping. Your seems look great! That's one impressive machine you've got there.
Thank yo so much my friend, I love it.
I love a 'trip around the world' quilt. So easy to do with the strips, and I LOOOOVE your fabric choices. FYI - I actually press ALL my seams open. In everything. Never had a problem with lining up corners. For me, I find them just less bulky and never noticed any weakness of stitching - which I think is just a myth.
Yahoo! So glad you love them as well, and thank you so much for sharing!
You are the best teacher for a beginner I’ve ever watched! Thank you for your time and beautiful results.
Thanks so much 😊
Amazing!
Really awesome! Your tutorial makes it feel like I could do this! Thanks!!!
You can totally do this. I can't wait to hear all about it.
Hi Christen, I love watching your tutorials, because you are so open and frequently hilarious to watch and listen to! So I took a stab at the Jelly Roll Race quilt top as I showed everyone earlier today, but I really want to do this Trip Around the World quilt too. Hopefully, if I take my time and pay close enough attention I can do it! That whole idea is just near and dear to my heart, having been in the Army and being stationed in Germany (twice in the same place!), and so having Army brats for daughters. Then one of them married a sailor 25 years ago, and they raised 2 Navy brats, and have been stationed in Naples, Italy twice! Now their youngest son is in the Navy also, with soon to be be three little Navy brats of their own to raise! So I guess the I'm destined to make this quilt at least once!
Oh, you have to make it for sure now after sharing your story. It will mean so much!
@@ISeeStarsQuilting I actually think I’ll have to make more than one! With all of those Army and Navy brats running around the world it’s possible that everyone will get their own version! I fact my other Army brat daughter married an Army veteran… My own version of the Neverending Story! It’s Destiny, right???
Thank you all for your service. 🇺🇸
Gracias! I'm going to try out your technique. 😊
Wonderful!
Beautiful. You are great!
Thank you so much!
Awesome pattern! Thanks for the totorial!
It was my pleasure.
Thank you so much for this tutorial
You really inspired me!
Glad I could help!

Очень интересный вариант!!!
Love your tutorial, just found you here on RUclips ❤
Thanks so much for commenting and saying hi. I hope you enjoy watching some of my other videos!
If I decide to get brave enough to make this one, I will be watching you every step of the way doing it!
Awe, that is so so kind.
Great tutorial 😊. Thank you for sharing this. I am about 90 miles east of Houston 😊.
Thanks for watching! OH nice!!!
@@ISeeStarsQuilting 👍
Christen, this is a gorgeous quilt! I love little squares and can’t wait to try the tube method! Thanks!
Wonderful! I am so glad you liked it Sheri!
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
This quilt looks like so much fun!! Beautiful.
It really was Sharon, I hope you can give it a try. 😃
Love it!
Thanks!!
I love this one! I still have to put the backing on my first jelly roll. I know what I want to do with it but just getting started is the problem. Watching you and how well you explain everything is very inspiring! I love your choices of colors. Thanks Christen!
That's wonderful Connie, just set a day on your calendar to do the backing and Bam, you will be done.
Your quilt top looks so beautiful. I really enjoyed the video. I'd really like to make a quilt like😊
Thank you for watching.
This is so pretty. ❤🎉
Thank you so much.
Thank you - love this jelly roll pattern. May have to try one myself 💜
Yes please do Penny. I think you would love it.
Awesome music! Thanks for a good show. I have done trip around the world in a similar fashion. I used 5”x4”squares that started life as 5” WOF strips, then I sub cut into 4” strips. I’m going to use a rogue jelly roll or a bunch of my fat quarters and cut my own 2-1/2” strips
That sounds great. I would love to hear how it goes.
I love the colors and your seam ripper. It's like magic.
Awe, thanks so much.
Love your energy and your simple but complete instructions. Thank you for making this tutorial. ❤
You are so welcome. I try my best to explain it the way I would want to learn.
You never cease to amaze me with such beautiful results
OH goodness that is so kind of you! 🥰😍
Lovely well explained 😊
Glad it was helpful! I can't wait to see how your quilt turns out! 🥰🥰
Love!!
Thank you!
Hi Christen, oh my god such a beautiful quilt, I always thought it would be to hard to make this quilt but you made it look so easy I always thought you had to so the little squares together but the way you showed us is a lot easier. I love the colours in your jelly roll and the colour in the borders makes it look so beautifulI ,think I’m going to give it a go. and thank you for the little hints along the way I always have trouble with my quarter inch .Thank you so much for showing us how to make this Beautiful quilt. 🌻❤️🌻
Awe you are so sweet. I am so glad you liked it and will give it a try.❤️
I’ve never done this either but I want to!! Love this quilt!! Beautiful Christen!! Thanks ❤️
I hope you try it, I would love to see yours as well Marie! 🥰
Gorgeous!
Thank you! 😊
Love, Love, Love your tutorial! You are so good with explaining what to do and what not to do. And I love your humor! Would you please do a trip around the world tutorial that has the large center? I started one in a class 40 years ago when I did not know anything about sewing except how to put the pedal to the metal and sew crooked seams! I have been too intimidated to try again, but you are such a great, friendly, non judgemental teacher!
OH, I hope you get back to it. It really is so calming to sew and quilt. I will add that to my list for sure I have so many I want to make and how you all.
Absolutely love this. Thanks for sharing !!! ❤
It was my pleasure Nancy. I had a lot of fun. 😁
Hello from Alabama! I’m a new quilter and LOVE your tutorials! Thank you for sharing your awesome talents with everyone.
