So beautiful! You simplify all the steps so well. I love that you don’t drag it on forever, but we can watch it as often as it takes to make our own. Thanks!!
Thank you for demonstrating how to do the TAW. I'm working on a TAW using men's shirts (a request from a friend to use her father's shirts - 19 of them). The strip method wasn't used so I had to sew hundreds of 2.5" squares together but I did create strips using your advise on making "friends" with the colors, then I used your method shown on your baby size TAW (thank you for that). The top turned out beautiful. I'm also attempting to do a quilt-as-you-go method using quadrants or maybe 1/2. To make it even more interesting, the backing is made of 5" squares of the shirt material. I may be doing a lot of un-picking, who knows, but I love the challenge.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us! I'm so glad you were able to have success. I too have made quilts from shirts. It's a lot more work, but pretty great in the end!
You are not only a great quilter, you ROCK at the demonstration of quilting, education and directions to this pattern and filming of these videos! Applause!!! Thank you- so beautiful!!!
Just something about your videos...and I will say it again - Love Them! You think like I do...Fabrics having friends... fabric going eh.... meh... when squaring up! They are just so enjoyable, fun, interesting, genuinely one of the best out there for quilting...
Hi there, I started to learn patchworking when i fell in love with the Around the world and also the log cabin patterns. Both i have yet to make, but i have just my 3rd top to get quilted before i can make my dream ones. This one was a beauty with the pink against the black/brown, as it showed each off to it's best advantage. Thank you for sharing both how you garnered the colours and how you kept changing them around until you got it running in the right sequence for you. Crafty hugs from Norah, Glenochil, Scotland
Norah, I love hearing about your quilting journey! The "Trip Around the World" quilts was one I learned early on when I was learning how to piece. I wish you great success!
Love how it turned out. The colors are beautiful together. This quilt pattern is on my bucket list. I've watched a lot of different tecniques for making them and this one seems to be pretty easy. Thanks for sharing.
I’ve just made this and It’s turned out great thanks to your demonstration. Perfect instructions and straightforward to understand. I’ve wanted one my whole life but never had time or the skill. Thank you, if I could post a photo of it I would 👍
Thank you for this tutorial! I am in the middle of making my queen size trip around the world quilt using your pattern and I must say, I have been wanting to make one of these for years and YOUR tutorial gave me the courage to cut up my favorite fabrics and get to it! Thank you again!
@@merrymabelmarketI finished my quilt top yesterday and placed it on my queen bed. It's going to beautiful on my parents king size bed. It was laying in the floor on both sides of my bed so I'm going to have to adjust the pattern just enough to make it smaller to work for my bed. Thank you again for the pattern and tutorial! This is truly a beautiful quilt.
Love these colors! I think I’m going to try to do the queen sized version. I did the regular size one, and it was so fun! I was only confused one time, and was fine after re watching the video. You explain everything so well.
I’ve always wanted to make this pattern but I’ve never thought I could without getting all confused. After watching your video I know I can! I’m going to shop my stash
If you want us to post a picture of it in our website gallery that we will be adding soon, please email us a picture at: fun@merrymabelmarket.com It's so great to get those finishes!!
My first official quilt was a twin version of this pattern for our 8 year old son. Still holding up after almost 4 decades. Didn’t use nearly as efficient a method as yours to put it all together! I had a local quilt shop tie and bind it.
This quilt is beautiful! Thanks so much for sharing your method for doing this classic pattern. I would like to know many strip sets would I need if I wanted to make regular full size bed quilt?
i would get grid paper and draw it out the size you want. You can use less colors if you need to. For this sized strip, every square equals 3 inches. Best wishes.
Most fabric is 44/45 inside how do you get 49 in of length? Great video! I love that you only give what is needed without the endless chatter that so many do. And it’s quick. you get a great overview of the process and I can go back and start and stop later .

beautiful trip around the world quilt.... i would like to make a double size one...what would be the measurements of the fabric needed and how many strips and measurement of strips... Thankyou..
We don't have a pattern for that size. You can get some graph paper and color it in to decide on the fabrics and squares for yourself. Or, you can buy our queen sized pattern and draw lines on our diagram then subtract until you get to the size you want. I usually measure the bed I'm making it for, so that I can aim for a correct size for the particular bed I want to put it on.
ruclips.net/video/c-JES6cVTR4/видео.html I talk all about it in this video on tools. About one minute and eighteen seconds into the video... I show cutters.
You can add borders. Our pattern is a Queen Sized Spread (which is really close to a King sized... so you would only need a couple more strips I think. I always draw out a graph of what I want. The Queen pattern is on our website if you want to look there.
Yes, you can choose the size block. I prefer smaller because the size will affect how many trips you get and the look of the quilt. My best advice is to get some graft paper and draw and color the quilt you want. Yes - some math might be involved.
It is "totally" possible!! I say do what you want!! Just because the "norm" is 7-10 different fabrics, doesn't mean we should not play around and break the rule if we wanna!! You have my vote to go for it.
We sell the pattern on our website. you can just go to quilt shops and look for similar fabric. The fabric I used isn't necessarily current so you can get close, but not an exact match. Best wishes!!
Lmao , can you talk a bit slower, please ❣️❣️ I’m confused on how to go 1 layer lower I would have to watch this a bunch more times . That’s how much I love the style😍😍

Could I make this quilt with larger strip sets, like 4-1/2, 5 or 5-1/2, etc.? What size would you suggest so they work well with the fabric width?

Do you switch up which end you start from, to avoid curve?
If that is a problem for you - you sure can. I'm aware of that.......but I don't have a problem with it so much with this bigger pattern.
