I thought the lyrics were self explanatory (no offense intended.), he uses black bird as a depiction of death and the bridge is all about the impact he made in his life. Gotta read all the lyrics to get the song. I think this is proof that heavy metal can be beautiful, it doesn't have to be super aggressive, it can actually be really melodic. Possibly my favourite from the band.

My take: Mark Tremonti is a beast on the guitar, Myles Kennedy is one of the finest rock vocalists that's ever been and this song fucking rips!
Hey sista, I know this video has been up for a while but, I watch it now and then because, you were the best reaction to this song of anyone that I have seen react to it. I could see how it grew on you and when it dropped to the beautiful quiet part how it actually touched your heart. I don't know if you will even and get this. But I would also highly recommend the Alter Bridge song from the Same album,called (brand new start)
