Charles. A man who gave everything to save the world over and over and over again. A hero to billions, buried in an unmarked grave on the side of the road. Breaks my heart every time I see it.
And so was Logan buried in the middle of the forest😢
Yeah it got to me too at the time. My ailing mom too. Think me and her were ugly crying by the end. Poor dog was so confused at who to go to.

Charles was also partially responsible that the X-men were no more.....apparently in one of his freak attacks he killed most of the Xmen at the school, only Logan survived.

Just to make this movie even more depressing, Charles’ first seizure episode is almost certainly what killed the X-men, along with, most likely, all the students in the mansion at the time.
Yeah. Logan was the only one who could withstand it. I'm not sure if it was a good thing or not that Charles remembered again. Part of me wished he didn't remember all that before he died. Professor X, known by pretty much every mutant as a good soul, tragically kills everyone in the mansion by accident. What a thing to remember before you die.
They literally mention in the movie that seven mutants died, so no, he didn't kill all the students.

@@jawn3063After Charles‘ long seizure in the hotel they are driving in the car and the person on the radio says that it was similar to an incident a number of years ago (I think) where 600 people got injured and 7 mutants lost their life.
@Jawn it's also said and implied many times that the guy that was trying to make new mutants released the virus that wiped out most of the mutants and sterilized the rest. Though I'm sure, Charles nuking those mutants at the school probably opened the door for them to go through with the plan.
Charles death and burial hit me like a ton of bricks. Logan knew that this kind, generous, and loving man saved the world many times over, and inspired and helped so many mutant kids who were alone in the world. He deserved all the honors of death imaginable, and yet all Logan could do for him was a burial on the side of the road. Heartbreaking

For me, the saddest thing is that I think Charles knew he was responsible for the death of the X-Men and the students, who he thought of as his children.
Then Actually the plot twist of this movie was that Charles is the one who killed all the mutant students including the X-men because of his seizure 😭😭 that's why Logan wants to send him in the middle of the Ocean to stop him from harming who's around him and so that's why he buried him there because there's a water.
You know what’s even more heartbreaking? The character got brought back by the MCU just for the sake of cheap fan service and died in the most ass and disrespectful way possible after appearing for like 2 minutes

Fun fact: When they were filming the scene where Laura yells at Logan in the car in Spanish, Dafne Keen mother was on set and Hugh Jackman went over said he was sorry because he felt bad for constant yelling at her daughter in the car. The mom laughed and said “don’t be, she just called you the Spanish equivalent of the C word” lol

I don't think that take is the one that actually ended up in the film, tho. I THINK it's one of several takes where Keen was allowed to riff on her own after previously doing it according to the script.
I'm from Spain. "Coño" in this kind of situations (cause it's the women private parts too) just means like "Fuck", we have a lot of words that in english just mean "Fuck" or "Shit". In this case I can't remember what she exactly said to him (not in this reaction), but I don't remember any insult or swearing in the final cut. Btw, the C word, it's actually just "idiota", "estúpido" "tonto"... There are lot of words.
I'm over 50 year old and Logan had my crying like a 5 year old. All the feels for the characters I've loved almost my whole life.
I first watched it back in January 2018. I laughed at the part where Laura fought the bad guys. The acting on that girl is just so fucking wholesome.

But all in all, considering the trainwreck that is Fox studios, it was a fine send-off.
For me this was a perfect sendoff for Wolverine, Charles and X-men as a whole. And I'm really glad that Jackman and Stewart got an opportunity to use the whole range of their acting talent as these characters

Yukio in Wolverine (2013) was right about Logan’s final moments: “I see you on your back. There’s blood everywhere. You’re holding your heart in your hand.” Love this movie when I saw it in theaters! I heard the head of Marvel Studios like the final act of Logan that he suggest to replicate it with Iron Man in Endgame.

Not what she meant...otherwise why'd she try stopping Logan from operating on himself? If she saw him dieing in a forrest as an old man, she wouldn't have been worried.

It's entirely possible that the vision wasn't clear enough to show how Logan had aged. She was also worried about Logan operating on himself because at the time she spoke to him, his healing factor was failing.
And considering that the director of both movies decided to confirm that Yukio's prediction meant his death in Logan, I'm going to say she called it correctly, as much as she could see it.
@@Kartissa I can't agree, even if the director did some fan-service retconning. In the 2013 film, Yukio specifically said that she'd seen Logan die in that room, so there was no mistaking which death she'd seen.

Logan is a very special film. It's still a comic book movie, but feels so different and hits so much harder than anything else we've gotten. To this day it still gets me emotional.

I like to think of it as a movie about a man who also happens to be a superhero.
I’ve heard the comparisons to Dark Knight and….no. Not for me anyway. Let’s just say that I can’t suspend my disbelief that a millionaire/billionaire would do anything remotely close to Bruce Wayne does. But a man that doesn’t have much, been turned into a weapon, can’t create lasting healthy relationships and is ultimately killed by the very thing he is? Yeah that tracks.
How the writer-director James Mangold did "The Wolverine" then did "Logan" makes me wonder what kind of restrictions he was given for the first one. Because he is an awesome filmmaker, doing "Ford vs. Ferrari" after this and now the final Indiana Jones movie.
Dafne Keen (Laura) surprised everyone in this film. Every actor really brought their A-game, and turned a comic book film into something that goes beyond what anyone would expect from things in the genre. There's a not-insignificant amount of people who think Marvel should skip bringing Logan into the MCU as the primary Wolverine, and bring back Dafne Keen as Laura Kinney/Wolverine, and just use the Logan character as backstory.
Dafne Keen is 17 now and is just about the perfect age to return to this role in the MCU. I really hope they do that.
She was awesome and I cheered when I saw that Dafne was cast as Lyra Belaqua in the TV Adaptation of His Dark Materials. Seasons 1&2 were awesome and I'm looking forward to the final season, which will hopefully be out this year.
Dafne said she is up for returning to that role but no one has asked her yet, my hope they will do the X23 storyline from the comics just with some adjustments to incorporate the Logan story line into it.
Sure, but she's X-23. I know the whole story but if they call her Wolverine it just comes off as lame.

It's so sad that some reactors feel the need to apologize for getting emotional when something has moved them, like she said movies and shows and music are all art and the more it moves you the better it is. Personally I get really attached to characters and I also get really emotional from things like this

That’s what I say. I have yet to see a person that reacted to this film not shed a tear at some point in it.
I remember getting in an “argument” about Logan vs. Avengers End Game and my friend just couldn’t understand how I thought Logan was better.
The two lines that get me all the time is when he says "don't be what they made you"
And "ah...so this is what it feels like" I just turn into a bawling mess of tears.

Yep. That's how you know Logan is really Laura's dad. He defaulted to Dad mode without even realizing it.
As for the ending, I always loved how in his final moments Logan not only finally had some small measure of peace, but he also expressed his hope that Laura wouldn't grow up to be like him and she would be able to move forward and leave the past behind and not see herself simply as a weapon, a killer.

43 year old man here. Pretty sure I cried at least as much as you did when I saw this in the theater. Nearly all the theater was in tears, in fact. This one hit us all hard.
Me too. Almost everybody kept staying in their seats, crying, no questions, no answers, no chatting, just like at a funeral. After some minutes the firsts went out and the others followed them. No sounds, no laughting, nothing. Was a sad moment, but a very good feelings about this masterpiece.
Same. I saw the first X-Men when I was still a kid and I literally grew up with the franchise. I saw Logan in theater too and I cried. Everyone did. It felt like an entire chapter of my life came to a close. Couldn't get my head straight for two days after watching it.
I'm still crying now! It's why we love Vicky.

I was a kid as well when the first movie came out. By the time Logan released it was not a pleasant time for me either. So it really hit like a ton of bricks.
It's so heartbreaking to see both Logan and Xavier broken like this, but man, what a movie. While this may not be the type I tend to watch every few months (like Winter Soldier) this is in the same category as Joker. Such incredible and emotional story telling backed by powerhouse acting.
I loved what you said about this not being a X-Men movie. You are so right, this was a Wolverine movie. And Hugh Jackman really showed why he was chosen for the role he's played for a long time. And given such an effective end to Charles' story... Just beautiful all of it.
Vkunia. You had no idea how heartbroken everyone was in my theater. When it was over, all I heard was crying and sniffling. To this day, this was only movie that made me cry and to this day, this is (my opinion) the best marvel movie ever.
Remember everyone walked out of my showing of the movie, and there was a mixture of looks, from reluctantly leaving cos it would mean it’s over, and like they were walking out of a funeral
It was like that in my theater too. Like I said in my own post, even grow men were crying! I won’t lie I was good open till the part when Laura called wolverine “daddy.“ I had to turn away and I shed a tear.

I’ve been a fan of Wolverine since the early 80s. I was in my late 40s when I saw this in the theater. I was sitting there crying too. We were all sad to say goodbye.
We had 17 years of Jackman as Logan. I don't think it hits younger people the same when they are binging all the X-Men movies in a short period of time. Also, a superhero is never fully dead. Prequels, alternate timelines & multiverses, clones, recasting, reboots... there's numerous ways they can come back. Jackman recently announced he'll be back as Wolverine doing Deadpool 3. Either the story excited him to return or they dumped enough money at his door.
Great reaction. Don't apologize for getting emotional. This movie does that. it came out a couple months after I lost my father in a sudden accident, and we'd been anticipating seeing it in theaters together. I was not prepared for how heavy the movie was gonna be.
This movie is 10/10, everyones acting, the writing, so good.

i love that it's not a typical "superhero" movie. It's just an amazing movie that happens to feature superheros.
This movie made the toughest people cry , the fact that this x-men world is set in a more realistic gritty world and the Professor mentaly degrading like that hits such painful nerve in reality. To watch the most brutal, feared, compassionate, immortal character in the series struggle like this till the end is what makes this The Best X-Men movie to ever be made. A masterpiece of writing and cinematography.
Johnny Cash was the perfect song to put during the end credits. Such a nice touch for a great emotional film.
I think people forget that most superhero films usually fit into a second genre. Like how Winter Soldier is a spy film. And this is one of the best Westerns ever made.

The director also made another modern Western, called "Copland" with Sylvester Stallone.
Logan was an especially important movie for me since Hugh as Logan is the reason I started reading comic books. That and the movie came out on my 20th birthday and Logan is my favorite comic book character and played damn near perfectly by Hugh, who just happens to be one of the coolest celebrities in the industry.
Now you know why people love his movie. It is truly great.
Dafne keen who played Laura was absolutely spectacular she's an incredible young actor.
She was. We really should get an X-23 movie focused on her.

Dafne Keen may already be the best actress of her generation, yet I don't think she gets the attention she deserves. So much of the focus is on Millie Bobby Brown, (fun fact: Brown was one of the actresses who auditioned for Laura. Losing the role to Keen is what freed her up to take the role of Eleven, who is actually very much like X-23) who is certainly a great actress in her own right, but I really do believe that Keen is even BETTER.

I was awe-struck when I saw this film for the first time. Managed to hold it together, and then she called him, "Daddy." Opened the damn floodgates.

FYI it's been confirmed from the director of the movie that Charles nine years before on Westchester lost for the first time the control of his power and he was the one who killed those people and all the X Men including Scott Iceman Storm and Jean. It's the saddest part of the film Because Logan in the end didn't turn his back on Charles but he stood by his side to help him.
So heartbreaking and realistic.
This made me cry. It was so hard to see characters you love get to the point where it's a huge struggle just to get by day to day, but it's also inspiring that even when they're at that point, they're willing to help someone who really needs it, even if it means it costs them everything. This is definitely the best X-Men movie, and I love that it showed Logan and Charles not as bigger than life characters, but people. Thanks for sharing your reaction to the movie.

Was crying in the theaters, was crying with you now. Excellent movie, mainly because it hurts so good. That's the mark of a good franchise; when you connect this deeply with the characters that it actually hurts when they die
As a father of a little girl this movie absolutely gutted me. My girl is so much like me. My grandmother also lives with us so I can take care of her. I was born with a bone disease called MHE that creates bone tumors on every major joint. My daughter has it too. All that to say when I was growing up my favorite X-Men character was Logan bc I used to dream that when I had surgeries, I've had approximately 32, that the doctors were putting adamantium on my bones. Thankfully my daughter hasn't had any surgeries yet. This movie really hit home for me. I ugly cried too. I don't know who might read this but I just felt I needed to get that out.
5 years later and this movie still has me in every emotion and it’s still a masterpiece plus Hugh Jackman’s performance as Wolverine was phenomenal and it’s my favorite X-Men/Wolverine movie next to other X-Men movies

I still cry every time I watch this movie. I sadly never got to see it but a few years later found a blu ray on sale for Black Friday. Watched it a few days later and I was wrecked. I cried with you for this one and I don't think I'll ever not be able to fee empty after this one. Amazing reaction and don't feel bad for being emotional.
It does not matter how many times I watch this film it still makes me cry. Jojo Rabbit is another film that always hits me hard.
I walked out of the theater in utter shock after watching this, just sat outside for a while before diving away taking it all in. cried like a baby during both deaths. hit me harder than I ever would have thought. but after watching the moving over more than 15 years you get attached. I thought it was one of the most hauntingly devastating beautiful movies I've seen and the most shocking thing... it's about a mutant with metal claws... and it made me feel that much! lol ugh
Some stories are more real than life because they represent truths that are deeper than individual experience. That's why you can watch a movie about a superhero with metal claws and find that there's more believability in it than most straight dramas.
A big reason as to why this movie is so good is because it's actually a reimagined Western. Hence why is has the gritty tone throughout. Hence why it seems to primarily take place in the desert (and other surroundings similar to that typically found in Western films), hence why Caligan is wearing a cowboy hat, facemask and poncho at 7:00 (and why other characters are wearing cowboy hats throughout the movie). Hence why they're usually on the run throughout most of the movie, and hence why Professor X is watching the western film "Shane" at the hotel at 11:30. All of these things are subtle hints of this.
It takes a classic film genre and repackages it as something new, yet subconsciously seems familiar for the audience.
So, basically a Mutant Western, that's cool hahaha

That bit about Xavier watching that old western on its release was actually a true story from Patrick Stewarts life.
I always really liked the cinematography from John Mathieson in this movie. It really evokes that gritty, dusty, western feeling that fits this genre perfectly. It is a superhero movie mixed with neo-noir western, and combined with the slower pace and subtle direction for scenes dedicated to character, it works like a gem. There are still elements that feel a bit silly because of the comicbook background, and this movie is far from perfect because of it, but it is truly a remarkable work of art.
Such a genuine great reaction. Nothing forced or over the top, just someone soaking in a heartbreaking, brutal, while also beautiful film. Thank you 🙏
I really can't blame you for getting so upset over this movie. Its by far and away my favourite X-men movie to date. It really is an emotional roller coaster but it has so much heart to it. The plot is great, the performances from the entire cast are amazing and Johnny Cash's hurt for the soundtrack was inspired. Never apologise for getting upset like this. We keep coming back to watch your reactions to our favourite movies because of you Do get so emotionally invested. And sharing heavy emotions like this is the purest form of honesty to me. And honesty is the single most important human quality. And the one I admire the most in a person. Thank you for sharing it with us.

You asked "What happened?" Why all the rest are gone? It is unspoken, apparently it was in the comics somewhere, and is why Xavier's brain is classified as a WMD now: He did the thing he almost did in X-Men 2, and in one of his fits, killed nearly every mutant out there.
When I learned that, a lot of pieces of this movie fell into place.
It was different in the comics. Wolverine killed the X-men thinking they were the villains. (He was seeing an illusion)

That when his disease first manifested he had a seizure and killed everyone at the school. So while it wasn't all the mutants, it was a substantial amount of them. Attrition and no new mutants since because of the anti mutant corn syrup in the food supply took care of the rest.
Also, my pet fan theory is that the corn syrup is the root cause of Logans healing factor fading, because if it completely suppresses latent mutant genes from activating, what would it do to active genes? It would also explain why Stephen Merchant is down to smell distance for tracking mutants, when before it was powerful enough for him to find them from across the planet.
This is really a great story and the acting elevates it way above genre as a comic book movie

that being said, I'm not a huuuge fan of the X-Men franchise, but I am a big fan of this film. I tend to gravitate towards tragedies (big SW Episode III fan here). I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I do think this is a fantastic end to a great, and very complex character.

All jokes aside, This one even had me shedding a tear! I know when I went to see it at the movies, everybody was crying even the grown men! I’m 48 now and I was 43 at the time!

Can we just take a moment to appreciate the absolutely storming performance of Dafne Keen in this movie. Her first movie and Jesus Christ did she kill it. 12 years old, and that performance could have won an Oscar.
Never apologize for feeling things! Being that open is something I admire in people because it’s a very difficult thing to do for me.
Watching this move was such a beautiful tragedy. A beloved character from my childhood finding peace, but at the cost of his life. Still makes me cry like a baby 5 years later.
This is an incredible closing for a character we have cheered on for so long. Cry some everytime I see this. Great reaction, there are hints of what happened between the last movie. Still hoping they can continue some type of next gen X-Men, saw one series that was great but sadly, couldn't hold the ratings
Logan is only afraid of one thing. Feeling love and loss is the thing Logan fears since it is all he has known his whole long, long life. Imagine never aging and watching every person you love die of old age. Imagine the loss he felt when Charles had an episode at the Xavier school and his condition killed all the X men. This girl represents everything he is terrified of and yet in the end he understands that you can't have loss without love. His last words "so this is what it is like" just about broke my heart.
The best line in the movie “So this is what it feels like?” That’s Logan finally knowing what dying feels like. Keep in mind he was born in the 1800s
When he looks into his daughter's eyes at the end and says, " oh so this is what it feels like?" most people say he's talking about dying. For me he's asking her if that's what it feels like. As in love. He looks at her and feels love and realizes he finally found what has been missing his whole life. And then dies peacefully. This movie is without a doubt one of the few superhero movies that will stand the test of time. A true masterpiece.

I don't know about others, but I love seeing how you connect to these films emotionally, as it reminds me of the way I felt when i experienced these films the first time myself. Don't be ashamed of your emotions, they are what separate us from the robots!
The only thing that comforts me about this movie is that it is put in an alternate timeline and it is a homage to the comic Old Man Logan. The ending is so hard to watch and it's perfectly ok to cry. Thas was heartbreaking.

The ending got me I have to admit it. When that cross angles to an “X” on Ws grave tears started populating.
I love watching your reactions to films. You are a real gem. Hugh Jackman confirmed that this movie takes place in an alternate timeline. I think it's based on a rather dark alternate timeline from the comic books but I haven't read comics in over 30 years so I can't really say anything specific about it.
I walked out of the theatre feeling as if I were leaving a funeral. I felt so empty and heartbroken. I have only watched it the one time all the way through, even after buying it.
If you don’t cry at this one, you may have a dead heart. This was a brilliant movie but I can only watch it if I’m in the right mindset. I love your reactions and I bet that many of us that watch your reactions also cry with you.

saw it in the theater - i can count only a handful of times i have seen a whole room run through such a range of emptions for one film. and the usual chatter you hear as people leave the theater was just a bare whisper.

They didn't kill them off, they gave them a worthy ending. Everyboody gets old, everybody dies. Sometimes it's nice to point that out so that people can remember what they're going to lose in the future.

Hey VK, when you were introducing this video and said you were unfamiliar with the story, I knew this would wreck you - -and I enjoy your sincere commentary. Just wanted you to know that the director is James Mangold. He gets great performances out of the actors in his films, such as Girl, Interrupted; Walk the Line; the remake 3:10 to Yuma; and Ford vs Ferrari (all movies which I hope you see eventually). He also directed The Wolverine, so I was glad that he had another chance to immerse us in the X-Men universe .
James Mangold is the only reason Indiana Jones 5 might not be a dumpster fire.
Logan's last words had multiple meanings. He finally felt like a father, and like he belonged to a family. But he also finally came to feel death approaching him, after dodging it so many times, and delivering it to so many people.
F.I.N.A.L.L.Y a superhero film not just for kids. There are a couple others but, it's so rare for a superhero film aimed at adults. Probably the best of the genre.
I have cried in only three movies. This was the worst. So your reaction was very understandable. A gorgeous and well done movie and a proper reaction.

Don't feel bad. I am a 53 year old man, who has watched movies all his life, and this made me cry too. That is what good writing/production does, it stirs the emotions.
I wasn't invested in the X-Men thing at all-never really followed much of it over the years, but when I saw this after being recommended it, it stuck out as an extraordinary film. Brought me to tears on the first viewing without ever caring about most of that MCU stuff. And Dafne Keen is just a revelation. Just a straight-up killer, great movie on its own. SO well done.

Yukio had a vision in 'the wolverine' of him dying holding his heart in his hand. He died holding his daughter's hand.
Please do not feel that you expressing your emotions is in any way a detriment. It is a blessing. You are in touch with your feelings and you move your way through them. Good movies lead you to be connected to the characters. I've been an actor for 30+ years, and the whole point of acting/creating art is to try, not only to, covey emotions, but to have those experiencing your art to be moved emotionally by it. It's an honor to be a subscriber and to be able to experience your reactions. You're amazing.

The adamantium is basically poisoning him, that’s what’s causing him to heal slowly, he would still be healing slower anyway due to age but not as bad as it is in this movie, also the fact that Charles killed the x-men is so heartbreaking.
I loved the movies stripped back, minimalist approach.
It took the focus away from the special effects and back to where it belonged, the story.
As for your emotional response, that’s why I keep coming back to your channel. It takes courage to give an honest, emotional reaction.
Logan finally achieved what he’d been searching for from the beginning.

I think the emotions you display in your reactions is wonderful, even if the opinion is not unbiased I think that you truly feel the film that you are watching and that in my mind is one of the main points in watching a film is to feel what actor/director/writers and other people who worked on the film are trying to convey to us as an audience. and that you share that with us through your reactions is truly a great thing. to see go through such emotions such as joy, sadness, frustration, shows a strength through vulnerability, that also creates a sense of relatability at least when I watch your reactions. you have my appreciation. keep up the incredible work.
