- Alex went into Logan completely blind and she was in for quite a shock! We spent most of the movie in contemplative silence until the tears. And oh, were there ever tears! Join us as we finish out our X-men marathon!

The scene about the cloned corn is actually very important. That corn syrup is how they have manipulated the X-gene out of existence over the last 20 years, and why the kids in this movie had to be cloned from pre-existing mutants like Logan.
Good catch! I work in agriculture so I got hung up on the real-world part of it.
@@jessaandalexwatch Also why Logan is so sick. He keeps drinking products that have the corn syrup in them - the corn syrup is killing his healing factor - without his healing factor, the metal on his skeleton has a chance to poison him
@@jonathanwoodson3670 Actually, the metal has been poisoning him since it was introduced into his body. So, imagine him doing all the things he did for decades, healing quickly, but it's ability being below it's full potential, because it is constantly warding off the poison. He could have been much more powerful if he only had the claws...like Laura
@@_viper2c_562 Not really, he would have been weaker with only the claws. With the adamantium skeleton he is basically unkillable since his brain is protected behind adamantium. Without it he can be killed if someone cuts off his head or blows it off with a shotgun. He has a strong healing factor but its not as strong as Deadpool (whos healing factor can regenerate him from basically anything as long as there's something left of him).
@@j.fragoso7451 Laura doesnt just have Adamantium claws her entire skeletal structure is adamantium just like Wolverines. It’s their absurd healing factor X gene that allows them to survive the bonding process in the first place and why others did not. You are both right just missing a key piece here and there is all.
Fun Fact: James Mangold (The director) was asked during a Q and A if he was inspired by the game The Last of Us. Because he hadn't heard about it, he looked up and played the game. After that, people asked if he would ever direct Last of Us, but he said pretty much did with Logan.
Absolutely broke my heart to pieces when Charles remembered what he did to his X-men 😭😭😭😭
In the original comics story it was Wolverine who killed all of the X-Men, confused into doing so by a supervillian who put illusions into his head and made him think the X-mansion was being attacked. That was tragic... but... so much worse the implied end for the team in this film where Charles killed them all with his dementia and seizures, and only Logan could survive the incident.
@@nooneofconsequence1251 Yeah it was Mysterio I believe that did it. Since the comic had a lot of crossovers.
@@MrWatchtower Mysterio (a Spider-Man villain) of all villains possibly did the worst thing ever to fuck up a hero ever.
The fact that he had saved the world time and time again only to be buried alone in an unmarked grave. It broke me. Patrick Stewart is a gem.
This is the film that definitively shows how, in the right hands, "superhero" can be more a medium than a genre. Pretty much everything about being human is here. Amazing movie, hard to imagine a better send-off.
(I was OK when Xavier dies, sad but OK. I was even OK when Logan dies. Then Laura turned the cross to make an 'X' and suddenly i'm sobbing in the cinema. Apparently death I can deal with but two sticks tied together ? Not so much)
Yeah, I really wish superhero movies would play more with genre. Winter Soldier plays at being a Cold War-era conspiracy drama, but then feints at the end and becomes the normal shooty-punchy thing. I think this is the only movie that manages to commit to its genre all the way through. (Maayyybe the Tim Burton Batmans and Ragnarok, but I’d argue that’s more aesthetics than genre.)
😂😂 I hear you about the cross though!
@@jessaandalexwatch Agreed, it'd be great to really see them using _all_ the toys in the sandpit ('The New Mutants' had a lot of potential in that regard, going for "YA horror movie but with superheroes", only it didn't quite pan out unfortunately - if that'd been a success maybe we'd be seeing more of it).
(and yeah, Marvel at least seems to _want_ to play around more with genres - 'Wandavision' for instance was a pretty big swing I thought, until the later stages anyway - but they're maybe slightly trapped by the economics in that superhero movies are so expensive they need to be huge international crowd-pleasers just to break even, which arguably leads to a chronic case of the final act pew-pews)
The “X” at the end ruins me *every* time.
@@jessaandalexwatch Fun experiment, try watching that first Tim Burton Batman film but try to get into the headspace that you're watching Edward Scissorhands and not a superhero movie. It's a classic Burton film, weird deranged antisocial man who lives a strange fringe life being forced to socialise and normalise whilst weird stuff happens around him. Burton's Bruce Wayne seems to be a "bat-man" in more of a concerning "you ok buddy?" kinda way, literally sleeping upside down like a bat, than in your typical adaption.
they've been doing that with the comic books for a long looong time now. its just that other media has yet to catch up!!!😉😜✌✌✌❤❤
Early in the evolution of Wolverine as a comics character, the creators stumbled onto the fact that if you pair him up with a 12yo or so girl, he suddenly becomes a much more interesting character. She (originally Kitty in the comics) gives him an anchor to the humanity he keeps trying to run away from, he becomes the murder dad she needs. The first two movies used Rogue in this role really well, and here Dafne Keen is absolutely brilliant as Laura. Love this movie - such a great note for Jackman and Sir Patrick to go out on, even though it's so sad. Laura turning the cross to make an X on Logan's grave wrecks me every time. Glad y'all enjoyed it too.
Like guts needs casca in berserk
While the example of Kitty Pryde that you mentioned did happened in the 80’s, X-23 and Kitty are 2 different characters. X-23 was first introduced in the X-Men Evolution animated series. Later because of the character popularity, the character was introduced to the comics and has become a mainstay. Also a fun fact and to go with what you mention about the formula of pairing Wolverine as a fatherly figure to a teenager, in the 90’s they did the same with Jubilee and it was well received as well.
@@killer88327 RIP
Ironically, Logan honestly treated Laura like shit in the comics. He dumped her at the Xavier school and had very little to do with her until X-Force, where it would be charitable to call him abusive (he literally told a depressed and suicidal girl who had suffered YEARS of horrendous emotional and physical abuse that her life was worthless after she allowed Wolfsbane to be captured by Purifiers). While they got better around the time of her solo book under Liu, Laura never enjoyed the sort of close relationship that Kitty and Jubilee had with Logan.
@@davee602 I don't think her popularity on the show had much to do with it. Laura was introduced in the comics within months of her appearance in Evolution ("X23" aired in August, 2003, and NYX #3 was released in December that same year) which means Marvel must have already been planning to include her in the books around the time that episode of Evolution was in production.
Before Logan was filmed, Hugh Jackman had decided he was retiring from the role after this movie. Patrick Stewart made the decision during filming. You should watch some of the interviews they did together about this movie. They're really touching. If you want a happier return to the X-movies in the future, the Deadpool movies are so well made and so funny.
Jackman has stated his desire to return to the Logan character, now that the MCU 4th phase is kicking off and they're finally bringing in the Xmen/mutants.
@@davidsirmons I hope not because this was the perfect end
@@goldengio6520 I would say at best I would like to see him be part of the multiverse and not the main wolverine for the mcu.
Jackman is still in very good shape, but he's also quite old now. I'm also quite sure that Marvel would like to continue Wolverine's legacy with Laura, if they do plan on bringing back wolverine in any form.
Logan died the same way Yukio predicted his death in The Wolverine. "Logan, I saw you die...I see you on your back, there's blood everywhere. You're holding your own heart in your hand."
When i realized that i broke into tears...
@@stephoncollins5293 yup, that line is in the Wolverine and You can totally see that by the end of Logan.
Fun Fact: Laura/X-23 is one of the rare characters that was introduced in another medium before making the jump to the comics. She was introduced in the under appreciated X-Men: Evolution cartoon (which if you haven’t seen I highly recommend).
And? Why is it a fun fact?
@@soyourboi27 If you say so.
Evolution ended too soon. It was a great show.
Funny fact: On that show she was voiced by Andrea Libman, best known for voicing Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie on My Little Pony.
@@wratched How is that funny?
when she takes the cross and turns into an X, it gets me every time.
You know you're an X-men movie fan when you can perfectly quote a really innocuous line like "Saved your life" in the proper accent and everything lol
That nice little relationship between Logan and Anna Paquin's Rogue feels so long ago now. Great reaction girls!
The only word I can use to describe this movie is “pain”. This one ranks waaaay up on my “best movies” list, and I love it, but it hurts so much to watch it. Everything that Logan has been through, his healing factor doesn’t mean he doesn’t feel pain, and it finally catches up to him. Hugh Jackman did such a fantastic job throughout the years playing this character and seeing it close out like this in such a masterfully filmed movie was one of my most memorable movie experiences I’ve ever had. I remember going to the theaters for the opening show of this one and just walking out afterwards just completely drained of all emotion and feeling, drove to my parents house (this would be at about 11 PM, but they were still up and watching TV) and just going into the den and hugging them, I needed that human to human contact to process what I’d just witnessed. Later, watched it with my Dad when it came out on DVD, and it wrecked us both.
The wolverine is about pain, it is about if you are a hero live forever there is pain ... the longer you live it is pain and you have no choice but to live with it.
This movie should have won an award.
This is one of my favorite movies period.. I just love how depressingly real it is
I kept thinking of what you said the other day about Charles failing and being buried in an unmarked grave.
'You will die, holding your own heart in your hands.'
Best payoff.
Don't forget Richard E Grant in his most iconic role... the Spice Girls stressed out manager in Spice World!!
The Spice Girls movie is legitimately hilarious & Richard E Grant's legendary in it.
@@HMcQ7891 Richard E Grant is one of those actors where he could be in the shittiest movie imaginable but he's still gonna give his A game in that role and you're gonna love him.
Dont forget his best role ... Darwin Mayflower in Hudson Hawk! :D "Money will always be paper, but gold will ALWAYS be GOLD!!" 🤣😂🤣😂💘💘💘😎😊
Glorious purpose!!!!
Fun Fact: The audition for Laura required the actress to hit Hugh's arm. But Daphne Keen managed to bruise Hugh Jackman.
Yeah, but due to his healing factor, the bruise went away in a minute.
The end scene where logan is dying and laura is at his side, gets me each time. I started ok this time, but as it played, I got teary, then watching yall get teary made me more teary. Lol. It's a well made film.
I can't even describe the end of this movie without crying.
My cry scene is when Logan is apologizing to Professor X and that it wasn’t him who clawed him.
"I've got a theory, it could be bunnies." That made me fricken laugh. Nice Buffy reference.
Anya Christina Emmanuella Jenkins approved.
Fantastic but heartbreaking. Being Mexican-American, the kids and I found some small amount of levity by referring to the kids as the Mex-Men, heh.
I told a Mexican friend of mine that he's obligated to marry a Czechoslovakian girl so that he can nickname his kids Czech's-Mex. We have warped senses of humor.
This brings me joy
@@DoremiFasolatido1979 Warped yes....but cultured warped...lol
@@DoremiFasolatido1979 That reminds me of this: My Friend is Greek and his wife Is Filipina; So I asked him, "what do you refer to your kids as? Greek-apinos?" He said, "after long and careful thought, we decided to call them "Freeks"'; "
jessa i know exactly how you feel about the way professor x was played here. My grandfather passed away last october at the age of 84 from cancer. Around nov 2019 he started developing dementia at the same time as he was developing the cancer. Mercifully, the cancer took him quickly before the dementia had a chance to really get bad but it was still noticeable and we knew it was getting worse by the day. When i first saw this movie the i wasnt terribly connected to that performance because i didnt have any personal ties to that mental state beyond knowledge of certain ancestors of mine that did have it. rewatching after my grandpa passed away, it hits a hell of a lot harder.
This movie is one of the Best comic movies of all times... I would Say Even of movies period. I cry everytime i watch it.
I'm glad you told Alex there was no Rogue. I was getting very concerned when she was describing this heartwarming tale the two of them would share.
"I was not prepared to watch this today". Nobody ever is dear. This film was dark, intense, and sad, but brilliant. Great reaction ladies!
This is not an X-Men movie, this is what all the other X-Men movies should've been...
I dont know about ALL of them...idk if I could deal with being THIS emotional for every movie hahaha
Agree that this is what the other Wolverine movies should have been (The Wolverine got halfway there), but not what the rest of the X-Men team movies should have been in terms of tone & rating.
Really should've watched The Wolverine ahead of Days of Future Past.
It's a Neo-Samurai movie done by the same director as Logan that paints a much more complete thematic picture of Wolverine's life and world.
It would have made the contrast coming off of the main movies much less stark.
If I'm remembering right it's also the movie where we get the prophecy of Logan dying with his heart in his hand.
@@joshhood7624 You're absolutely correct!
It has a terrible third act.
Days of future past was so mediocre 😒 you can skip that one

This is the definitive Wolverine movie ! What we’ve been waiting for and it delivered in every aspect Logan is a masterpiece not just the best comic book movie but just an amazing film in general. Such a accurate depiction of the character jackmans performance is straight from the comics he nails his personality and mannerisms. Perfect send off to the character
The series the little girl did after this movie is fantastic. It's called His Dark Materials. Definitely worth checking out
Definitely, especially considering who plays her uncle
Edit: removed spoiler
Was going to post the same. Amazing series and extremely well made and acted.
I hate YA centric things but.... I enjoyed her performance, so I guess I'll give it a shot on her merit.
You could have at least researched the little girl's name. Duh.
@@eatsmylifeYT You could have as well. Instead, you chose meaningless whining.
The actor's name is Dafne Keen.
"He was in Star Wars, he was in Loki, hes's in this, he's in Doctor Who..."
"...He's not in Harry Potter!"
"...There we go."
omg Subbed XD
There are very few reaction videos to this movie and that is a shame. Now one of my top reactor channels watched it. Thank you so much! I always tear up throughout this movie. It is absolutely grounded and there are times that you kind of forget the mutant side of things and are just watching a great drama.
"I see you on your back, there’s blood everywhere. You’re holding your own heart in your hand. It’s not beating"
-Yukio (The Wolverine)
simultaneously the best Wolverine movie AND best possible adaptation of "The Last Of Us."
You don't really need to watch the other films to get this. You said it yourself Jessa, the timeline is a mess. But since Alex isn't gonna watch The Wolverine movie, there is a line in that where he is told you die with your heart in your hand. In that film, he literally has his own heart in his hand but doesn't die. In this, we'll, who is holding hands at the end.
And with adamantium poisoning take it's toll on his body and powers finally, it's a pretty gut wrenching movie.
But I would recommend watching some of.the better films in the series. They all weren't as bad as many fans make them out to be.
How you end multiple great characters runs with respect. A classic film.
Daphne Keen, the "daughter" in this, is in a series called His Dark Materials on HBO that I think you would really enjoy. She is the star and it is incredible. Her presence in that show is off the charts good. Great reaction, BTW, to one of my favorite movies. I am now a subscriber.
one of my favorite book trilogies of all time and I really need to watch the show
Dafne Keen was a great discovery, her audition with Hugh is on RUclips still I believe (the scene in the truck when she first speaks). She's excellent in His Dark Materials on HBO.
It was even her idea to speak Spanish while trying to explain Eden to Logan ruclips.net/video/h8YJt6iQPNA/видео.html Amazing audition.
This was a masterclass of a film. I can't explain how much of a fan of the character I've been for over 30 years and this film had my crying my eyes out in the cinema. As yet the only way I can bring myself to see it again is through reactors. So for that I am thankful for you sharing this with us. One of the most nuanced films in a superhero environment. The most poignant part for me was the nod to Wolverine 2 - Where Yukio says she has seen his (Wolverines) death .. and he dies with his heart in his hand .. Laura holds Logans hand as he breathes his last. :(
Thank you again for giving me the chance to help process the emotions of this film through your reaction.
Remember the part in the other Wolverine movie?
Where the psychic Japanese girl said she had a vision of Logan dying and holding his heart in his hand?
That's exactly what happened in the end.
Logan was holding Laura's hand when he died.
My favorite thing about the Multiverse is that you get any ending you want. To me, Wolverine, Professor X, Jean Grey, Cyclops, etc; are still out there, protecting all of us.
Optimistic Nihilism
By far the greatest superhero movie I've ever seen.
Phenomenal reaction video! First time watching your channel, and I was right there with both of you! Old Man Logan... he knew what he was and the ending he was headed for. He didn't want to drag Laura into it, but he ended up doing just that, and she did the same with Logan and "Chuck"! Truly a great movie, a beautiful "film" and a great ending for Logan. Xaviers last coherent thoughts weere about how perfect the day was. I suppose that is worth something... And thanks to you two for bringing us along for the ride!
Love your channel and all the genuine reactions - especially the honest tears - to them. Be good, stay healthy!
Fun fact: the actress that played Laura did all her stunts and is also bilingual
I do feel like you could have watched "The Wolverine" before this one. It's pretty good compared to Origins, and there is something that happens in that movie that ties in directly with this one. Technically, that movie takes place in the timeline of the original trilogy, but it deals with his guilt over killing Jean, which I quite liked. Food for thought, but I'll understand if you don't check it out.
I completely agree!!! The death of Logan with Laura by his side goes with what was in the film and made Logan's goodbye so much more heartbreaking. The Wolverine film doesn't get enough credit and is very underrated.
He died holding his heart in his hand.
Going into this blind would be hard but going into it thinking it's a light hearted X man moiveis rough! As usual though loved the reaction
After charles has the accident in the hotel, the broadcast talks about a similar occurrence at a school in new york. Hinting that charles accidentally did the same thing at the school. Possibly leading to no more xmen.
One of the best reactions for 'LOGAN' movie! It's really rare to watch such true reactions these days. You both did a good job ❤
My Granddad also had dementia in the final years of his life. This movie captures aspects of it so well. Particularly in the relationship between Logan and Charles, and the tragedy of the anger and resentment that develops and at times overshadows the love. I saw that a lot with my Dad and Granddad. Or even suddenly hearing Charles swear. I know it goes with this film being an adult rating, but still it reminds of my Granddad. He was always the kindest, gentlest person who never said a bad word around us. And hearing swearing from him when he was sick was utterly shocking.
Now you can watch the trailer.
awesome reaction, thanks!!
I can’t say enough about this movie, the night I watch this I went home and
Hugged my daughter, and that alone says what it can about this movie
Such a great movie I am glad to see you both enjoyed it!! Can’t help to tear up every time I see it
I've been waiting for this for what feels like a very long time.
This movie gets me every time. Well done all around.
Wolverine has always carried all the pain and heartbreak for the X-Men. After a life of pain and loss he meets them. Kitty in the 80s, Jubilee in the 90s Rogue in the movies and Laura (x23) after that. He has a long list of loved ones he loses and finds but in the end he lives so long that he watches them all die: family, friends, daughters and the women he loves. Wolverine's story has always been a tragedy I'm glad they finally put that in the films.
Of all the MCU movies, this one is by far my favorite!! So different from anything in the MCU. Phenomenal movie!!
Just like the Mandalorian, this is shot and told in the style of a Western, this genre being called the Neo-Western. In fact, it takes many cues from Shane, the movie playing on tv while they were in Vegas. Logan is the cowboys last ride. As a huge fan of Westerns, I've loved that the Neo-Western has been bringing fantastic masterpieces like Logan, The Mandalorian, Hell or High Water, and many others. Glad you liked it as well.
Laura turning the cross into an X at the end was the bittersweet cherry on top
Enjoyed Logan more than all the other Xmen/Wolverine movies combined.
Every story has a beginning, every story has an ending. Kudos to Hugh Jackman for giving this one hundred percent t.
Prof. X's scene watching tv with Laura was deeper than it appeared. Patrick Stewart actually did watch that movie at a small theater when he was a kid. Great movie. Great reaction.

Any movie that can make you feel that much is a good movie.
What I really loved about the ending was when she switched the cross into an “X”. That made me tear up bad because he was the last of the X-Men. Therefore here lies Wolverine, the last X-Man. 🥺😭😭😭
I honestly remember crying when i saw his death in theatres. Like i grew up watching this character and technically his name Logan is my one of 2 middle namesakes.
The Bloody fallout of that Wonderful dinner is one of the best Scenes in a Film I've ever seen.

Logan was the movie that made me cry most because, as a fan, I couldn't accept my favourite X-Men dies but, nothing is forever. In fact, I was the one in the cinema's room who couldn't hold tears because of Logan death scene. Look like, I wasn't prepared for something like that, Hugh Jackman should have won an Oscar for this performance.
I've been an x-men fan since the 80s. This is the movie we've been waiting for.
Went to the theater to see this, alone.
Good thing, cause I was crying almost the whole movie.

This gets a thumbs up for the Anna Paquin conversation alone. 😂 Now I’m going to watch the rest of the vid.
Your so right about the Academy being snobbish years ago 30 or 40 Yeats ago this Movie would have nonernated in the Acting categories and best film at least nonernated but wasn't even considered.
I got even more angry about it watching it back during the edit!! All these incredible two-person scenes and just no awards love.
The what now? The Academy 30 or 40 years ago was even *more* conservative than it is now. It was hard to get even comedic films considered. Still is, but somewhat less so.
The problem is that the voting blocs for the Academy are, in large part, the film unions. Unions are great, don't get me wrong, but these unions in particular skew extremely heavily towards white, male, cis, working-class Boomers, mostly as a result of historical prejudice in the industry as a whole. Hence the "Oscars so White" issue.
This is One of my favorite superhero film it's perfect masterpiece with amazing acting by hugh

This film and the end of "Star Trek: Generations" kind of put me in the same feeling. That heroic tragic end to characters you love just leaves you drained after watching them. But not necessarily in a bad way.
Good heavens, you really threw Alex into the deep end with this one...
This is one of those rare movies i am incapable of watching again. It completely demolished me.
logan was probably ready for it to be over, at this point he had already lived several life times, fought in every war imaginable and lost countless loved ones. this was a great film to finalize the character
Dude seeing Charles like that broke my heart in the theatre

This is a movie that UNDERSTOOD THE ASSIGNMENT.
They knew this was Jackman's and probably Stewart's last chance to play these characters. They knew it had to conclude Wolverine's stories, almost twenty years of development. And they knew it had to give fans closure.
This movie delivered, and then some. The fact that this movie only earned one oscar nomination is a crime.
there are so many amazing comic books that deserve to be adapted to movies...
When logan tells Xavier " it wasn't me it wasn't me " that killed me more then when Xavier blamed Logan that he killed everyone in the school .when it was Xavier with his brain tumor. When logan tells lora " bad shit happens to people I care about." He wasn't supposed to cry " he said afterwards I can't even shed a tear because of who I am " because of his healing factor.. that broke me
There has been a lot of talk about who can replace Hugh as Wolverine - and all I can say is that she is right there - I would watch the hell out of an X-23/Laura movie
SAME!!
C'mon now, we all know that dark corner of the internet that loses its shit every time a movie/tv show deals implicitly or explicitly with issues like race, feminism, sexuality will go ape-shit if she becomes Wolverine in the MCU (even though she'd be great at it) and I'd love it! Like I've already seen in some places, they'll start bitching about the 'feminisation' of the MCU given all the female characters we're getting in Phase 4 & beyond.
Anyone who replaces Hugh has to play it completely different from him, because Hugh's now too iconic. Having Laura's character instead would be a neat way to do that.
The other option I've wanted for a long time was Wolverine more like how he was back in the comics and old animated series: short, hairy, ugly, with the raspiest voice. When you look back at that being the original Wolverine Hugh was actually terrible casting from the outset, but he managed to really make it his own and be a much cleaner/friendlier Wolverine which is now what people think of.
23:54 in the previous Wolverine film a character foreshadowed his death. People thought it was going to happen in that film and not in this one. I really like how James Mangold called back to it
😣😪 *Tears are beautiful.*
When laura cries the word “daddy” at the end🥺I remember every grown man in the theater turning into complete babies crying that night. it was a rough night at the theater for sure!
I'm so ready for this but not at the same time
This was a movie that took me a very long time to watch because of how much a fan I was of the Old Man Logan comic, but this film is incredible and like you said it is beautiful in every single way. I will say, the comic is even darker as it involved all of the Avengers Xmen and many others. This movie also combined the comic of The Death of Wolverine, which is great as well. I just wish we had the ending to Old Man Logan where Logan decides to raise a Baby Hulk on his own.
Logan is my favorite superhero film. Its a lot more grounded than what we've come to expect from them. No sky beam, no end of the world thing, no cheesy humor and excessive quips.
And they finally did Wolverine right with an R rating. He's born and built to stab and slash so lets actually see some blood.
The actress for Laura is absolutely PERFECT! Gorgeous little Hispanic badass ;D She played the role so well and conveyed so much despite being as taciturn as her "dad" ;D
One of the best films i have ever watched, i LOVE it, no doubt. But this is a movie i watch maybe once a year or zero sometimes, its so heartbreaking
