There were three stages to her song 1. Her with just banjo 2. Brings in guitar and backup singer 3. Full on rock with the whole band. The emotion builds through each stage.
If this song doesn’t bring a tear to your eye, you’ve lost your soul. I had the privilege of seeing her play this live in 2022, it was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen.
Hi,as a Aussie I’ve seen Kasey live lots and she is a authentic talented woman who has been challenged personally and professionally over the years and tells her story in her music .The perfect artist to tell Eminem’s as well.Love Sistah’s reaction ❤ subscribing now!
The final element of perfection in her performance is the very last notes, when she shifts from growling and yelling at you, into her head voice. One thing to understand. Australian country is not like American country. It's history and evolution are unique to the Australian experience.
I'm watching this again, just to catch The Wolf's appreciation of it the 2nd (or more?) time around. He can't wipe that smile off his face (from Kasey's performance, or Sistah's reaction?) Doesn't matter; sharing this with loved ones is joyful.
This is her "I might look like a country girl, but don't underestimate me' song. All of this was in the original song, but she brings it out and exposes it.
She rips apart genre and arranges it in spectacular fashion that rips your soul from your body to walk on your skin leaving a trail of goosebumps upon your flesh. She brings a desperation to the song that stares straight through every fear you have ever had.
I liked Wolf's reaction here more that his own channel (which was great too). Here he has the joy of just listening immersed in this amazing song, knowing the beautiful moments that keep hitting again and again; but also combined with the satisfaction of knowing how much feeling it's going to bring for HLS. You could just see that happiness on his face
Bloody brilliant. Best cover ever. She brought the emotion and soul to EMINEM's fantastic lyrics. You know how good this is when EMINEM loves it and gave her the right to post it on Spotify.
Many Australian fans think of her as country, based on the fact that she came out of her families country band. But, as was once said, "When I was a child, I thought as a child, now I have grown, I act as an adult."
Kasey actually states via the lyrics that she started it slow and then takes off... the transition from folk...to country ... then rock when the whole band jumps in!
If you want a similar experience, please listen to John Farnham's version of "Help" from the Beatles. It's live and the encore song of a 3 hour concert! You won't regret it.
Me too, it’s so good that I’ve watched numerous reactions. I love watching people being blown away. On one site a commenter said it was shit. Has to be a troll. I know each to their own, but shit, really? It just gives the song even more meaning and emotion.
The amount of emotion she was able to convey astonishes me. She FELT every note, and carried us all with her on this incredible journey. Second the Ain’t no Little Girl suggestion. I think it’s the Platt studio session? It’s fantastic. Again, so much emotion. I’d never had the pleasure of hearing her talent prior to Lose Yourself but I- a classic rock and metal fan, no country 😖- am a convert. Loved your authentic reaction.
Epic. Shades of the 1950's Beat Generation when the angry poets set their words to music cadence, that becoming expanded to folk music by Arlo Guthrie, furthered even more by Bob Dylan with his hint of Rock. That was exploded by the Stones, Led Zep , metal etc and etc. The second wave of angry music/free-form expression poetry came with Punk, again turned back into musical forms by the Seattle sound. Then along came the third wave of angry poetry, this time labelled Rap. Kasey Chambers has turned Rap back into music with this interpretation. Kasey used Eminems words to travel through all of those genres AND time, paying homage to Baez, with the story telling of Joni Mitchell, the balls and all tell it as it is country/ rock side of Joplin, finished with the explosiveness of Patti Smith. This one song by Chambers, with the words of Eminem, travelled through time, genius and modern music. Sensational.
Kasey may be at heart a country/folk singer, but Kasey is one of those people who has never bent to the industry. Kasey has always gone her own way and has always been a fan of Eminem. Covid lockdown gave Kasey the chance to play with it and this is the result. As COB said…Kasey leaves everything on the stage when she performs live. She gives her whole heart and soul when she performs live. Just remember that Em loved Kasey’s version enough that he gave her permission to record and make bank on her version! ❤
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ thankyou Kasey just such a sublime gift. I’ve been in her thrall for close to 30 years. She has a voice that is a gift and talent that can’t be measured. She knows how to deliver every word of a lyric.

Kasey is a select group of Australian artists who are a natural and authentic performer, that sing to engage their fans without an ego; Australia is blessed with the talents of the likes of John Farnham( who started his career as a 19 yr old pop idol in the late 60's to and adult contemporary artist from the the late 70's/early 80's) and Jimmy Barnes(who started in the 70's as a lead singer for the rock group Cold Chisel then going solo and eventually releasing a couple of soul albums). They are just the beginning of acclaimed artist, some international and others local.
To me, Eminem’s version is coming from the gut, from anger and frustration. Her version comes from the heart. More like it’s being sung by an empathetic observer or a narrator of his life. You can hear all the emotions in her voice. I never thought an Eminem song could bring tears but it hit me the first time too.
I watched Wolf's reaction a few days ago and what I loved most about watching this one was seeing his face express all those emotions that I feel when I watch people react to it. You can see her thinking "ooh interesting... wow, great voice..." but as it builds, you can see him thinking the same thing that I think, which is "wait! just wait!!" and then the 3rd verse kicks in and she loses her mind and he is just loving watching that happen. This never gets old for me!
I love this reaction. I’m not a country/blue grass lover but I’ve made it a point to see Kasey live twice now because I know she leaves it all on stage, every time. I’ll go again. She’s an incredible artist. Love her, and I’ve enjoined this reaction so much! New subscriber here. Thank you for paying attention to Australian artists.
Saw your reaction first WK and your reaction was great. Glad to see HLS react to this too. Kasey blows it out of the park! So much raw vulnerability, but also raw strength that flows through her voice.
Love your reaction she’s amazing and she did a brilliant arrangement ❤️ she went from anguish to angst and made you feel it. you will love Ain’t No Little Girl.
There’s a reason why professors have brought arm’s lyrics into class, the man can fucking write. Her cover reminds me of Disturbed Sound of Silence, Ronnie’s Last Resort and Johnny Cash’s Hurt covers. I throughly enjoy the originals, but hearing them in a different context, by artists that clearly connect with the originals, really brings a fresh new perspective. It’s quite an amazing feat and she absolutely killed it. You can really see how she connects to the lyrics and the arrangement in that back third was masterful. The music dropping out for her to deliver the last words in that set of lyrics was so impactful. Really enjoyed the reaction, not sure how I got unsubscribed (other that RUclips being itself), so I’m glad your reaction popped up in my feed!
Another piece of pure gold , LIVE from Australia.. .....and she is not even 50 yo yet, but the music industry has not been able to stop her success. I suggest " Not Pretty Enough " as another song worth exploring. From her 2nd solo album ( i think ), she wrote this song about the business criminals who run the music industry from start to finnish, including radio , tv and all their crooked cousins.
This is the best reaction I have seen to any song. Watching Sistah's face made it so. She enjoyed it from the outset and her expressions of delight stepped up with the song. I am not a rap fan nor a country fan, but Kasey made these exceptional lyrics neither. It was instead Kasey laying her emotions on the line, raw, powerful and beautiful. It is the greatest cover version I have ever heard because of that. The original song is not lost, it is the foundation.. But everything else js Kasey and her band, the music, the sublime arrangement, the emotion. Bob Dylan said Hendix's rendition of All Along The Watchtower made the song his. Kasey Chambers, as Sistah observed, made Lose Yourself hers.
Been waiting for this since Wolf did the first reaction….was so fun watching the chaotic and wolf bobble heads in the first half and your amazing emotional reaction was epic ❤❤❤ … her recordings are nothing like what you see live .. live is heavy country rock… The Captain is awesome…she also ventures into other lanes and has performed with Aussie rappers Hilltop Hoods, Bliss and ESO and a few other genres
Good review. Great to see how much Kasey was able to rock your world. I'd recommend that HLS tries 'Aint no little girl' if she wants to hear Kasey in her normal wheelhouse. As with most Aussie artists, a live performance will normally be better.
This to me feels like a woman, SCREAMING at other women; like “Do you see what men go through?”? It feels like she showing the pain, suffering, struggles, loss of self worth, etc., It’s so chilling and haunting to me. It’s beautiful! It’s also filled with so much pain and empathy. It could be addressed to either gender I suppose. I love it! It truly moved me!
I came here straight from Wolf's reaction, great to see you both get emotional at about the same point that I did... this song has always had a deep and powerful meaning to it, but somehow it hits harder in Kasey's version. Kudos to all involved, Em, Kasey, Chaotic, Sistah and the Wolf...
She definitely helps to Ascend you when you hear it. I don't understand those who hear it and just shrug. Thankyou for getting it and getting emotional as I did, she goose-bumped me all over!
After seeing several reactions from people l have to commend you three on your in-depth analysis of her performance and sharing your appreciation of such an innovative reworking of such an iconic song.
Just shows the importance of great story tellers and the ability for great artists to Interpret those words. Eminem comes from a defiant young man, her version uses the exact same words but makes it feel like she’s telling the story of a concerned mother. Just amazing!
I loved how Kasey slowly told the story....then the emotion kicks in....The the ANGER! WOW Finally we heard the lyrics of Eminem are finally reveeled. And to me a really horrific story of his life. I think she did him proud, Loved this reaction guys. Love from Australia
Hey Sistah from Australia! My partner and I saw Kasey perform this song in a small country town called Cobar in Australia, he’s not a country fan and he was amazed by the way she performed this song, because even in a small pub it sounded just as powerful as it does in this clip. Kasey is an amazing artist, the way she sounds and performs is unique.. she’s one of my favourite artists. I also love that in both yours and Wolfs reviews she’s brought both of you to tears 😊. Love this review, and have subscribed to both your channels. Thanks!
Loved you reaction - so honest and so passionate - just like her rendition. I loved watching Wolf really just appreciate the song having already heard it, instead of being overwhelmed by its brilliance.
Eminems version is full of anger and frustration but Kaseys is full of hurt, sadness, regret a.nd determination. She's d 18:50 one a couple of fantastic songs like the Captain and there's another one l can't think of right now.
@@alliegal45 Hi, that’s not her brother, it’s her long time guitarist and back up vocalist Brandon Dodd. Nash Chambers did mix this song though. He currently lives in Nashville in the US and was unable to join her during this tour.
Sistah - absolutely adore your reaction ❤❤❤❤ You look like how I felt hearing this. Kacey is a huge Eminem fan hogan wanted to cover this song for years. the Covid Quarantine gave her the time to create this arrangement.
I've never bothered listening to Kasey before as county music isnt my thang! But once I witnessed this amazing performance she changed my mind about her. Great reaction..i thought Sistah was going to implode with enthusiasm.
I’m so used to seeing your husband cry to beautiful music Sistah, but your reaction had me crying. You felt that as I did. What an amazing performance by everyone and her voice is sublime. I’ve heard it so many times but it still gets me. So glad the three of you enjoyed it. 🥰
I just found this channel from this song and her cover of this song. I hope I’m getting the name right Sistah that was the most beautiful, real,& honest reaction to this song I’ve seen. Wow. Thank you for sharing and not stopping the song and just letting she feel the whole song. Subscribed ❤
Apart from loving her interpretation & performance, I LOVE the fact that after this concert - "they" listened to the recording & said: "wow, pity we didn't have a camera unit filming because THAT is a hit." Kasey reached out over social media to her fans asking for anyone who was there & filmed it on their phones to please forward the footage - hey presto....a music video was born. That's why there are so many different angles, changes in quality.....all came from fans phones.
I have two wonderful songs for you to review: "Dio - Holy Diver" & "Wardruna/Aurora - Helvegen". The latter option (Helvegen) is an extremely powerful song on which Ms Sistah will get ocular floods.
Minor correction. Lose yourself is from the mind of the character of b-rabbit. 8- mile its self isnt an autobiography! Eminem did grow up on the streets of detroit but he lived in a house not a trailer park, just a few minor things.
I think I've watched nearly every reaction to this, and I think your reaction is brilliant. Kasey leaves everything on the stage when she sings this. 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
I know, I'm super annoyed by that and it didn't occur to me until after I posted it that I could have fixed it 🤦🏼♂️ I think most people understand that there is a lag effect happening, but I'll make sure that doesn't happen on Ren.
I'm glad you enjoyed watching it. I always enjoy watching you enjoy the music! And I understand how you feel about the delay, but I didn't even notice it and like, Wolf said, most people understand 🤗❤
Eminem has seen it and given her Spotify rights to it. Much respect to him for allowing her to make cash on her rendition.
There were three stages to her song 1. Her with just banjo 2. Brings in guitar and backup singer 3. Full on rock with the whole band. The emotion builds through each stage.

While the rest of us were getting bored and angry during lock down, Kasey did this. 😊
I love how she really takes her time before it gets heavier. I love the slow burn.
I love Sistah's earrings of Africa, because when I tilt my head 45 degrees to the right, I see Australia.
You're adorable😊❤
I just did it and you’re right, I do see Oz if I tilt to the right…

Really? The few times when au country leaves us country behind then it does improve coz it becomes genuine. But that doesn’t happen much.
Watching Wolf beeming at Sistah while he was waiting the band to drop - that's the experience we all had watching him react. Best reaction so far.

Great reaction to an epic performance! It puts me in mind of Janice Joplin.

I’m so used to seeing your husband cry to beautiful music Sistah, but your reaction had me crying. You felt that as I did. What an amazing performance by everyone and her voice is sublime. I’ve heard it so many times but it still gets me. So glad the three of you enjoyed it. 🥰
Awe, thank you, sugah! Glad you enjoyed watching and this song...? It's FIRE! ❤️🔥
@ 🥰
I just found this channel from this song and her cover of this song. I hope I’m getting the name right Sistah that was the most beautiful, real,& honest reaction to this song I’ve seen. Wow. Thank you for sharing and not stopping the song and just letting she feel the whole song. Subscribed ❤
Aaaawwwwe, hi, sunshine! ^_^/ I'm glad you enjoyed watching and welcome aboard! You are a Sistah Souljah :-* ♥
Apart from loving her interpretation & performance, I LOVE the fact that after this concert - "they" listened to the recording & said: "wow, pity we didn't have a camera unit filming because THAT is a hit."
Kasey reached out over social media to her fans asking for anyone who was there & filmed it on their phones to please forward the footage - hey presto....a music video was born.
That's why there are so many different angles, changes in quality.....all came from fans phones.
Wow! Thanks for that! ♥
Enjoyed your reaction! Thank you!
❤️
Great job I really enjoyed that.
Glad you enjoyed it😀❤️
I have two wonderful songs for you to review: "Dio - Holy Diver" & "Wardruna/Aurora - Helvegen". The latter option (Helvegen) is an extremely powerful song on which Ms Sistah will get ocular floods.
dad was on slide and back up singer
No - he was on slide but the harmonies were longtime band guitarist Brandon (Dingo) Dodd
Minor correction.
Lose yourself is from the mind of the character of b-rabbit.
8- mile its self isnt an autobiography! Eminem did grow up on the streets of detroit but he lived in a house not a trailer park, just a few minor things.
Love your hat Gandolf!!
Absolutely Love Wolfs' take on the delivery and agree totally
An to honest?!
Sistah
Loves ya😊
🇦🇺❤️
I think I've watched nearly every reaction to this, and I think your reaction is brilliant.
Kasey leaves everything on the stage when she sings this.

You should have been there ... The impact was a thousand times more powerful !!!❤❤
Great reaction! Absolutely love your vibe. All y’all. New sub ❤
Fabulous review
Thank you! ♥
Australians do existentialism so well but as we are subject to EEC trade restrictions, we have to label it "sparkling anxiety".
Great reaction. Will checkout your other channels
I love the realisation dawn on Sistahs face when she realised what the song was.
I hate that I'm slightly out of time with the rest of the video.
