Kasey is a Hall of fame PERFORMER but she had her share of knock backs and fights with the Music establishment before she made it big. She has lived this song down to her bones!
Yeah. She released her first solo album at i think 17 and it got absolute rave reviews but sold like shit because radio stations wouldn't promote her. She didn't fit the 'teen idol' persona or look like Britney Spears so they ignored her. She came back with the single 'am i not pretty enough' which was a massive hit and left a lot of people in the media with egg on their face. She definitely lived this song.
@@tombates9122 yes. I'm pretty sure that "ain't no little girl" is also a dig at music management/recording studios that thought because she was young they could take advantage of her. She taught them otherwise. Well done Kasey
@@tombates9122that album was The Captian. 😁
@@briangill4000ain’t no little girl is a dig at her ex (Shane I think his name is) not the music industry
I love the Hold my Beer moment where she reaches up and grabs the Pick and if you see it you know something is about to happen and then the whole thing changes and she's suddenly channeling Janis Joplin and it's become a Country/Hard Rock hybrid after being Bluegrass folk and suddenly you understand she just doesn't understand the words she feels them. It all feels oranic but at the same time you know that every pause, every change in cadence, every time she plays around with the time signature of rap which isn't like a normal 4/4 at all is all thought out to maximise the pain, anger and fear inherent in the lyrics that was always there but not as obvious in Eminem's version.
Kasey is a huge Eminem fan, and during Covid she took the opportunity to rework Eminem's rap song; this is such a classic cover, she was given permission to upload this performance to Spotify in it's own right.
dont lie, this song made you cry, and it made you a stronger guy
NOT PRETTY ENOUGH was the song she wrote to slap Aussie radio stations for not giving her any air time.. was a frikken nationwide hit .. she is awesome ❤
Kasey lived through not getting radio play with her first album the caption. She then wrote a song called Pretty enough which was a f u to the radio stations & the song took off and here we are today. She is a story teller who puts her everything into every performance.
Yeah she channeled true talent. You guys have no idea how good Australian music is. 😂❤ Welcome to the southern hemisphere! ❤
Kasey is one of Australia’s top Country Artists and has been singing as a young one aged about nine with her fathers band then going solo in 1998. One of the accolades attributed to her is being the youngest female performer to be inducted into the Australian Industry’s Hall of Fame and also winning 8 Country Awards.
Eminem shows the feelings are from the outside.
Kasey shows what the feelings are from the inside.....🙏🇭🇲
Best description EVER ❤
This song is my new obsession so I've watched a lot of reactions to it and this one has been the best 😂
Thank you ✌️
@@AMERICANDILLY YOU HAVE GOT TO BE JOKING - THIS GUY IS A CLOWN!
Exactly!
Yeah, this performance is incredible.
Anyone that has any musical sensibility should be blown away by it.
My 79-year-old Mother loves it! 😎
I'm a 70yr old lady and I love it too!!!!!👍🦘🇦🇺
I'm 64 and seem to have this on repeat in my head atm, since I heard it a week ago. Absolutely love it! So impressed!
I was never really a fan of Kasey until I heard this.......................just wow
Her song Ain’t no Little girl is beautiful very lounge barish. It’s one of the few I prefer the studio version over some of the lives though.
You crack me up dude 😅
This is a phenomenal performance by Kasey and her band.
Awesome that you loved it too.
Great reaction 🫶
Thank you glad you enjoyed it ✌️
This amazing princess has been an Australian staple for literally the past 25yrs, we completely adore the talent this girl possesses and despite being ignored by every American and British record label and radio station purely coz she isn't a 19yr old blonde haired blue eyed marketable product, she has sold out every concert in every city and every country town within Australia for the last 25yrs nonstop...in fact the more you all ignore her the closer we hold her to our hearts. Sad that she had to take a GOAT song and artist and slay it Kasey-style for the world to pay notice... but if it means you might listen to one of her next-level songwriting skills original tunes then for her benefit, I am glad... but truly on a selfish level, we would be more than happy keeping our beloved Kasey purely for ourselves. X
Similar story with John Farnham, the more other countries didn’t notice him the more we loved him. He’s an icon and he belongs up there with the best male vocalists around. Love watching him & Tom Jones much around together & Tom popped up on video at one of John’s concerts just to wish him happy birthday.
Delta Goodrem is another amazing females they don’t get & the bands they miss out on. Oh well just means we get/got to enjoy them all the more.
Eminem's rap approach is more reactive, while Kasey's version is more emotive; she has faced trials and tribulations throughout her life and career, this is a mix of country, blues and rock this is a Rock-Ballad.
Kasey was struggling to be recognised as a recording artist after her first solo album with radio stations not playing her stuff. Her second Album had the song Not Pretty Enough which was a dig at the music industry and highlighted her frustration. It was released early 2002. Funnily enough it was her first hit single. Lose Yourself was released later the same year and you can see how Kasey could relate to this song.
Great reaction. I love when someone knows all of the words, showing you understood the full interpretation. 😊
Kasey is just the tip of the iceberg of our frickin awesome Aussie musos. It’s a looong rabbit hole.❤️🇦🇺
You really have to
KNOW the lyrics to sing along. I love this so much. And hats of to Eminem’s writing_ not every song is strong enough to shine though this kind of deconstruction.
Kasey is a huge Eminem fan and had been wanting to do this song - Covid quarantine gave her the time to create this arrangement. She released 20 yrs after the original. ❤❤❤❤
The power of music brother!
This is like when you first hear bohemian Rhapsody…. When your not expecting it ……..hats off to Kasey brilliant performance
Kaseys voice went from really good to really great. I like her doing this kinda stuff. THe Captain and others are great too.
Astonishing. Epic.
Her version gives us an insight into how brilliant a lyricist Eminem is. He likes this version so much he gave permission for her to load it onto Spotify and other sreaming channels.
Fire Reaction, brother Fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Respect, one of the first I've seen to notice / comment on her touching her head after the chest pump. It really tops off the emotion she's felt.....almost like 'I've given my all'.
I like Eminem's early stuff. This rendition is a masterpiece.
Amazing
I’m obsessed!! 3 days of this song!! ❤😂 and the rest of her music!! I love your reaction!! ❤
Looks like the train just rolled in, glass shattered, Stone Cold Steve Austin stepped off, and gave you a stunner! This song is phenomenal, 🤘🤘
I love this song and really enjoying watching RUclipsrs doing these reactions videos. I love watching their faces as the song progresses and change when she amps it up. Your reaction is the best so far mate, you had me cracking up. Glad you appreciate Kasey's version of the song.
Great reaction. Great rendition. Great artist.
Awesome reaction man! You know awesome talent when you see and hear it ! You were a lot of fun to watch react to this rendition of a classic creating it into her own classic.
Her dad's in the cowboy hat on slide guitar.
Awesome reaction- you totally got it. Kasey did an awesome job. ❤
I think she revealed the true stages of this song. You are right Eminem is a slave to the rap beat. He does get more powerful as the song progress but Kasey has a melancholic slow pace during the beginning which is mainly explaining about his plight and sad live. She upps the tempo when the song changes to the preparation for the battle to change his life... It then ramps up again during the rap battle for his live! Surely the way Eminem intended intended in the lyrics.
I had a blast watching you watch Kasey
SHE RIPPED IT UP.
Yep from a Country SInger to a Eminem cover, it knocked my socks off. My fav all-time Kasey song was "Rattlin Bones'' but I'm afraid this has blown it clear out of the water. The family Band was called "The Dead Ringer Band" and that happens to be her father on Slide/Steel guitar.... what a performance. thanks for the reaction. I had never heard of the Dead Ringer Band until my neice went to the Gympie Muster (Country) and she spent so much time in their tent.
Kasey Chambers is an accomplished Australian country singer-songwriter, who has won multiple awards and accolades for her 12 studio albums and her singles releases; she is the youngest inductee to the Australian Recording Industry Association(ARIA) Hall of Fame. Kasey started her career at a young age, performing in the family group Dead Ringer Band; along with her father Bill, mother Diane and brother Nash. Kasey's father is playing a slide guitar in this clip.
Good reaction. Welcome to another Australian rabbit hole. BTW, it's her dad on the slide guitar. I love Kasey's willingness to hang her heart on her sleeve. Her normal wheelhouse is Country, but if you want to try something else from her, try 'Not pretty enough.' She wrote this as a response to the radio stations refusing to play her first album, even though it was commercially successful. She got her own back as this song is still regularly played on those same stations. As with most Australian artists, the live performances will usually be better.
😂😂😂 Always love the reaction when Kasey transforms from soft solo to full on rock, emotional, headbanging tribute! 😂 Yes, Kasey has felt the ups and downs of the music industry. This song is personal to her…she has felt and been through every moment of just about every lyric of the song. This is why this version is so phenomenal. ❤
Loved this version she’s amazing ❤
I was digging your reaction to this! I avoided listening to this cover thinking that no one could do this song more justice than Eminem, but i was so very wrong!! Im just as in awe as you! Got my sub off this!! Youre funny as well, which i appreciate.
Awesome!!!
She is an experienced singer/ songwriter. Had a few crossover hits. The band is called the dead ringer band, her dad was left of stage with slide guitar, he was always in the band. Kasey's big bro and she joined when old enough. Her dad advised her to keep "the Captain," for her independant career, it was a hit. Then not pretty enough, and she toured the USA. More recently, she wrote, I Ain't no Little girl. Check them out.
Dude……friggin awesome response….
It's Chambers, with an "S" dude.
You sure? Since she covers rap songs, it’s probably Chamberz, with a “Z”.
@@MechanicalSculptor Laughed more than I should have.
Kasey is a trail blazer in Australian music. She was stuck in Country genre, but she is her own genre, through her own song writing and music.
Thanks for doing this one! Kasey is very under appreciated and needs to be recognised more on an international scale! Kasey is a master of storytelling, conveying lyrics and emotion! She is an icon in the Australian music industry, mostly for country and folk, but has her own style and is never afraid to delve into something outside the box. She is just getting better as she gets older. I really hope that Eminem has seen this and appreciates that his song and lyrics were re-imagined in such a spectacular way. Where else would you see banjo, pedal steel guitar and rock band together? Kasey started her solo commercial career around the same time as Eminem and she was a big fan of his music. Kasey spent lockdown playing around with some of her favourite songs and this version of Lose Yourself is the result. Brilliant! Kasey has spent her whole solo career bucking the constraints of the record companies and always gone her way. She made it to the top in Aussie music anyway with many awards, becoming the youngest ever ARIA Hall of Fame recipient. BTW….how was Lose Yourself for breath and vocal control? Not to mention the awesome arrangement. ❤ Also, that was Kasey’s Dad, Bill, on the steel guitar in Lose Yourself.
Great Reaction
Thank you ✌️
Worlds first bluegrass, folk, rock, heavy metal rap song
Oh and sung by white Australian, middle aged country singer…
Just noticed his stubbie holder “goon squad” goon means something completely different in Australia 😂 🖤💛❤️
Holy snappin duck shit mate !!
I've been avoiding your reaction video to kasey for a couple of days now.??
WTF Sunshine!!
I will not be doing that again cober. Brilliant reaction video right there while sinking tins of piss.. Best reaction video yet. Totally loved it 😊
🤣 thanks for watch glad you enjoyed it.
I'm not a huge fan of Kasey but I love this one!
Here's a couple of other Aussie's you might get a kick out of...
E boogie/Second Solution by The Living End at The Big Day Out concert.
Black Betty by Spiderbait
Then there's the whole Jimmy Barnes/Cold Chisel and John Farnham rabbit holes. Just make sure you always do their live performances!
I believe the first guitar that came in is her brother, the the man on the lap steel guitar is her father. I'm 44 and have felt this song since it came out. With that said, I never felt it like this. She did not cover this song, she reimagined this already masterpiece and made an entirely different masterpiece. I can tell you this version has caused many that would never listen to Em, to sit back and examine his songwriting skills, which are amazing. Things like this change once closed minds and opens the door for more people to accept other cultures and music, and understand where we all come from. Music has the power to bring us all together and can change the world. If you dig into her history, you will understand her emotions in this song. Great reaction, this is actually my first time on your channel, and I'm here because of her. Now I have to check out the rest of you content. Yes, I'm hitting that subscribe button just from this.
God Bless You,
God Bless America,
Long Live the Republic.
Guitarist is the fabulous Brandon Dodd.
Absolutely awesome performance. The change up just before the words "No more games, I'ma change what you call rage" is so perfectly timed.
Great reaction, too.
As others have commented: if you can't perform live in Australia you are unlikely to be successful.
Another couple of live covers you might like that are also powerful:
Cold Chisel "Wild Thing" (Last Stand) - a straight up cover but if ever a performance captured the essence of a song, this one does.
John Farnham (with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra) "Help" - like Casey's this is a re-arrangement that virtually turns it into a new song.
Mind you: any live performance by John Farnham or Cold Chisel and lead singer Jimmy Barnes is worth watching.
Enjoyed watching your reaction 🙂
I’m watching
Love yourself. Yeah
I hate Eminem covers. The first time I came across this I only checked it out because I saw the banjo and couldn’t believe someone would do this song with a banjo 😂 I was blown away by her and the band. I absolutely loved her take on the already great lyrics.
This song iIS her life. It mirrors what Eminem went through when he wrote this. That is why she is so emotional in this performance
My Nf friend! This is my first time seeing you react and I subbed immediately after seeing the flag and a beer sir! And yes I just seen this cover today for the first time and you’re right same lyrics but she just brings an entire new life to this kinda like she slowly opened it up and “ channeled “ a totally different vibe completely sir!
You might know her song The Captain … from The Sopranos
Go you rabid Aussie! Dad on the slide guitar, what a cover, country turns feral.....love it!
Her dad is on the lap guitar
He still is this guy!!! 🐐
Nice to see what Kenny Powers has been up to since East Bound and Down ended...
She's a Janis Joplin never thought I'd hear but I'm hearing her and
New follower by the way ❤
Chambers
Falling in to you. Kasey chambers
Reminds me of Alanis Morrisett
Yup, she got it! But, you did too. That is the point of music.
Good on ya Kasey xx
Kasey (K-C) Chambers' "normal" genre is more my cup of tea (eg "Not Pretty Enough"), but this cover moved me.
Since u are doing some Aussie singers l will certainly subscribe.
It’s not over the
Listen you must, guide you will I…
and btw... her last name is CHAMBERS...... with an S..... sorry annoyed me a bit... but hey I'm an Aussie... we call it like we see it
please next reaction Putri Ariani gets the Golden Buzzer in AGT 2023, watch from beginning to end, lots of emotional stories, viral on youtube with 35M viewers - 10 Days ago
She's Australian not english😅
American's are funny how overly dramatic and OTT they are when they hear an actual talented artist.
Kasey is a hall of famer and puts her heart into all her music, she doesn't know how not to! She has been living and breathing music with her family since she was a youngster.
I'll just say this...Your theatrics in the first half of this performance was very off putting. But I had to stay with it to see your reaction to it when Kasey let's her 'ANGER' take over. Kasey to my mind made Eminem's lyrics take centre stage. I'm sure he would have been smiling and appreciating her performance.
At least he has a "reaction" to it.
The first time I saw this performance, it was a couple of douchebags watching it, and their reaction was "gee, I was hoping it would be like the original"...
Fortunately, they didn't interrupt, so I got to hear it straight through... but they didn't get it at all.
So, at least this dude "gets it". 👍
‘Merica 🤟

Yeah agreed. Think the grog was kicking in for him. But glad he heard & felt her emotion. She showed that angst comes in many forms... & isn't gender or class based.
Classic outpouring of a classic! 👍♥️
....from a dated 60yo Aussie here😁
✌️
@@mr.knowitall6440 Yes I usually don't say anything...but I've seen one guy who called her "shorty with banjo" and used the 'N' word a lot. personal 'dislike' is when they SHOUT! at us lol.
What a child
First time? You did say she's got a whole band with her at the beginning! Stay off the booze before you post!
She is losing herself in the music, the moment.. live music is the definitive of the art.
Amazing
