We witnessed the lyrics coming to life through her.
Kasey is a huge Eminem fan, and during Covid she reworked Eminem's rap song into her own song; this is referred to as a Rock-Ballad, it's a mixture of country, blues and rock. Whereas Eminem's rap approach is more reactive, Kasey's approach is more emotive; she clearly change the song that much to make it so different, she was given permission to upload this performance to Spotify in it's own right.

The gentleman on the slide guitar is Kasey's father, Bill Chambers. Kasey first performed in the family group Dead Ringer Band, with her father, mother Diane and her brother Nash; Kasey started her solo career in 1999 and is an accomplished Australian country singer-songwriter, who has won multiple awards and accolades for her 12 studio albums and her singles releases.

Have seen Kasey Chambers do this live 3 times now here in Australia. Every time it is PHENOMENAL!! *She also isn't new, she is an Australian Recording Industry multiple award winner, with 12 studio albums, who has been doing music since she was a child, her first stage appearance when she was 10, over 35yrs ago. Her father is the slide guitarist (in the hat in the video), was her father Bill Chambers, who Kasey originated her music talent from her upbringing. Great reaction guys 💪👍

Kasey Chambers is classified as a country artist, but she's running her own race, and it's Marvellous. It's kind of wrong to get caught up in descriptive titles for genre for some artists. There's some like Kasey that just put their craft before you, and take from it what you will...
She did the cover NOT to showcase the band to give them wider exposure but because she has always admired the songwriting skills of Emimem and greatly admires the fact that he exposes himself in his songs and on the stage when performing. She tried to get at the essence of the song in her own style and man did she succeed!!
I have followed her from when she was a teenager just flying the nest of her parent's band (she is now 46) and she just keeps getting better. And the band- what a performance
Glad you liked it. But a couple of points.
First, Ryan surprised me a little in the introductory comments: "Does she sing in English"? you asked. Hopefully, you miss-heard Australia as Austria.
Second, you talk about a new band doing covers to introduce themselves to people. As has already been mentioned in the comments, Kasey has been in the music business for 35 yrs. She was 11 when the first album she sang on was released and 46 at the time of the concert. She, and her band, are in no way new. She didn't do this cover to "introduce herself" to anyone. She did it because she really likes eminem and had wanted to do a cover (with banjo) for quite a while. The COVID lock-down gave her the time to do so.
By the way, her dad on slide is 70-ish and has been in the business even longer.
You weren't to know that, of course, but did that look and sound like the performance of a new band?

Kasey wrote a song called NOT PRETTY ENOUGH as a dig at Australian radio as they snubbed her and gave her no air time for her first album.. 20 years later it is still one of the highest played songs on radio.. she is a boss.. one of the most down to earth artists you will ever meet ❤ love her

This performance grabs hold of you. It stays with you. Brilliant arrangement and her vocal control is outstanding. Eminem has such a talent with song writing. One of the best covers I've seen where the song is completely stripped and rearranged to become something new. John Farnham "Help" would be another that comes to mind. Thanks for your reaction. Kasey has had incredible success in her 25 year career winning multiple awards and is the youngest female artist inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame. For a complete contrast you should check out her early songs Not Pretty Enough and True Colors. Also if you like a band to completely cover a well known song and master it Cold Chisel's Wild Thing is amazing.

Kasey is about 10 years younger than me. I used to buy fish and chips from her parents' takeaway shop as a young man in Southend. Her family was always heavily involved in the country scene. We're very proud of Kasey here in Aus.

I saw a comment that said that you can buy Kasey's Lose Yourself cover(I bought this song through ITunes), the commenter went on to say the only way that KC is able to sell this song is with Eminem's approval. I take that as he has heard it and likes/respects KCs cover.

Kasey is not new to the music industry at all. She has been an icon here for a very, very long time. Kasey has always stayed true to herself and her music, never conforming to what the record companies wanted of her and she got to the top anyway. Kasey connects because she wears her heart on her sleeve when she performs so, of course, it is best to see her live. The video was compiled from live audience footage which is what made it even more special.❤
I seen her live in Albury last year and they are right. The atmosphere grew and gre listing to her live being able to feel the music was unreal. I have goodsbumps every time I hear it because it takes me back to when I was there and I can feel the music. Not only feel the music in your body but watching kacey sing it will all her hart the hand’s pound her hart makes you fell hoe much power she puts in

You could bookend this song with "Aint I pretty enough," about her own struggles to get recognition in her own right. Kasey has been in the biz for over 20 years and started out singing in her families band the Dead Ringer Band. She then went solo and has been doing her own thing for quite a while now. Good to see you guys being introduced to one of her with this song.

maybe you guys need to check out "Like A version" which is done at JJJ radio in Australia where artists do live versions of other artists songs. Some are brilliant. I particularly like DMAs version of Cher's song Believe.

Little Kasey has been around for a long time, she started on stage at 13 i think she is about 48. She is mainly country but does a lot of different stuff. She is very multi talented and just everybody in Australia knows of her. One of her recent popular songs is not pretty enough. Her dad is the lad playing guitar
I had the great pleasure to see her in concert years ago in Atlanta, Ga., best concert EVER, been a fan for years...Barricades and Brickwalls...Rattlin Bones...Runaway Train...just saying...a true artist...just now getting well deserved repect...here in the USA
