Wow, you're actually helping me finding a deeper meaning in these songs. I've been listened to this since I was little but you have broaden my perspective on these songs and thus made them better.
It's like hanging out with a whole bunch of friends in the garage listening to Metallica For the First Time I love your reactions coach and the guitarist name is Kirk Hammett
"Hold up, Metallica be showing off man" - Love this channel, and really love that you are listening to essentially the music I grew up on for the first time. Over here rocking with you man!
Yeah, the main reason he was sad was bc one of his amps was given to him by his mom who helped him get it before she died, if it wasn’t for her his music career would never have been possible
The intensity of the music is more a building up of emotion to embrace the act of suicide. When he says "Death greets me warm now I will just say goodbye" is him taking solice in meeting his own end. Like Death has a warm comforting embrace ... now he will just say goodbye ... is his surrender to the fact that hes going to die. Because he sees it as his only option.
Yes, but for me, it was also a warning....once yiu go there, there is no turming back. It woke me up and mafe mecrealuse just how oermanet it is and that every dsrk moment passes if I would just hang on. I heard a saying a long time ago, "never give up 5 minutes before hge miracle".
Kirk Hammett , icons , it isn't about suicide but shows how great lyrics can be interpreted.. this song has probably saved alot of souls along the way as well as their own at the time in 84
What’s even more strange is you think about the fact they recorded this not long before Cliff left them. James said he had trouble for a little while playing this song after Cliff’s passing.
Life it seems to fade away Drifting further everyday Getting lost within myself Nothing matters no one else I have lost the will to live Simply nothing more to give There is nothing more for me Need the end to set me free Things not what they used to be Missing one inside of me Deathly loss this can't be real Cannot stand this hell I feel Emptiness is filling me To the point of agony Growing darkness taking dawn I was me but now, he's gone No one but me can save myself, but its too late Now I can't think, think why I should even try Yesterday seems as though it never existed Death greets me warm, now I will just say goodbye Goodbye
I know the feels. I get excited seeing black people in metal bands. Seven Dust, Killswitch Engage, Zao (guitarist on Zao has a unique performance move that I swear is gonna require surgery one of these days).
"Do y'all think I am weird for trying to play the guitar with my face?" Hell no Shaq, a lot of the top guitarists in history have had crazy facial expressions because they are feeling the music that much. KEEP ROCKIN MAN
I'll start by saying that I despise reaction channels, but, for some reason, I love your channel. I've been watching a ton of your videos lately, and when I seen you were reacting to metal songs, specifically Metallica, I sought out this video. Fade To Black was the first Metallica song I ever listened to, and I've been hooked since then. My dad was a correctional officer and had taken his road crew out one day to pick up trash when he found Metallica's Ride The Lightning cd. He brought it home to me, and it was scratched to pieces, but Fade to Black played without any skipping or interruption. I listened to this song over and over, literally 20 to 30 times a day. I had just lost my 18 year old cousin, who was like a big brother to me in a car wreck, and I felt like this song was talking to me. I credit God and that song for getting me through an extremely hard time in my life.
This is the kind of thing America needs right now. Shaq's videos blend cultures in such an amazing way. He talks about things with the lyrics in songs that I have listened to for years that I have never even thought of.
I find this song to be heavily influenced by Pink Floyd, not just with a slight borrow of "Goodbye Blue Sky" for the intro, but the outro of the song shifts to almost the exact chord progressions as "Comfortably Numb", which you just reacted to the other day. I find the influence to help set a jumping off point for Metallica to take the flag and run with it, which helps with the epic scale of both songs. This is one my favorite Metallica songs, and it brings me goosebumps almost every time I hear it. Keep up the great reactions!
One of the best Reaction channels on RUclips. Right up there with King KTF and Lost in Vegas. Joy of the music and honest commentary. Please keep it up!!!
Fade to black was written when all of Metallica’s gear got stolen including James’ (who’s the singer and rhythm guitarist) amp. It was a really low time and they wrote it about the depression they faced
Do "To Live is to Die" there is maybe 1 damn line in the whole thing. It is entirely instrumental but if you listen to it you can HEAR the progression of life. From birth to childhood to rebellious teen to optimistic young adult to jaded middle age to an old man dying alone and ends in rebirth/afterlife like the cycle begins again.
Life long Metallica fan that just found your channel. Love the reactions! And I love that you delve in to the lyrics! That adds so much to your reaction imo.
He is right Shaq. But don't listen to Fuel. I am an old Metallica head. My fav of all time. Hip hop is my blood, bars are the pump, but Metallica is my top band of all time. So trust me on this.... DO NOT listen to Fuel. That's on the "Load" Album and anyone knows that anything after the black album is doo doo in comparison..... No hate. It's just not the same.... You wanna REALLY know Metallica? Shortest Straw Disposable Heros Harvester of Sorrow There are many more. But those three, you can just pick one and it will also show you how BAD @$$ KHammet (the guitarist) really is Also, check out "Cliff Burton bass solo Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth)" He died in a tragic bus accident while on tour. His bass solo in this was a standard set in the Metal world at the time. He is very respected in the bass playing community (I got many relatives who are musicians)
I'm sure he'll be just fine if he listened to Fuel. There are some halfway decent songs on those albums, I grew up listening to them. I much prefer the old stuff too, but anyone who wants to understand the band has to understand that low period in their career where they took huge risks going in a different direction that didn't quite work. Then you can appreciate their last two albums much more
@@dbo6948 Fuel isn't my fave song but I think there are many people that love their music after the black album and a lot who talk about being old school who like what they have been doing on Death Magnetic and particularly Hardwired. I think 'Atlas, Rise' should be the next song from Metallica to react to as it is the sort of song that I think would have fit on an 80s Metallica album, just with their modern sound.
@@dbo6948 I have been a die-hard Metallica fan since they release Kill Em All. Every band has its ups and downs. I had mixed emotions when Load came out but they still produced some very good songs. FUEL is my finishing song for all my workouts, it always pumps me up makes me push twice as hard.
Ride the Lightning is about (clinical) depression. As someone who went through it myself (for 12 years) before coming out the other side this song always gets me emotional recalling that dark, lonely time - the lyrics are very accurate as to how it feels.

I lost it when he said that!
That's funny
Wow, you're actually helping me finding a deeper meaning in these songs. I've been listened to this since I was little but you have broaden my perspective on these songs and thus made them better.
His name is Kirk Hammett, he is one of my favorite guitarist ever along with Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimmy Page and John Frusciante!
Damn str8 Kirks a legend along with the whole brand, anything they touch is money!! They're the greatest!!
Metal elitlist will be mad at your comment😂 but i agree with. But Jimi and srv is wayyyyyy tooo great than kirk.
How about the man who taught him how to play like the Joe Satriani the guy is a wizard on the axe
Fisheye lens it’s funny you say that. Joe said that was his worst student. Lol
Joshua Allen don’t make up things that Joe didn’t even said. He said kirk already good guitarist when he met him.
Metallica- Sad but True. You’ll love the drums, coach!
max pappajohn well.. it’s Lars, so they can’t be that good lol. When it comes to metal drummers, he’s pretty weak
One of the greatest guitar intro's ever! Grabs your soul right away!
It's like hanging out with a whole bunch of friends in the garage listening to Metallica For the First Time I love your reactions coach and the guitarist name is Kirk Hammett
For real it's like actually getting to enjoy music WITH someone. (Outside of when jamming with the band)
I love him saying... “stop yelling at me!” And imagining kirk hammetts speaking voice
"Hold up, Metallica be showing off man" - Love this channel, and really love that you are listening to essentially the music I grew up on for the first time. Over here rocking with you man!
The MUSIC is the emotion... The lyrics go deep, very deep, into the mind.
James wrote this song after all their gear got stolen out of a uhaul in New Jersey back in 84 or 85..he was pretty upset and depressed about it
Yeah, the main reason he was sad was bc one of his amps was given to him by his mom who helped him get it before she died, if it wasn’t for her his music career would never have been possible
I'm confused because I've heard the story about the gear stolen but James also said recently at a show this songs about suicide?
Not going to lie, I was searching for something way different, saw this, came ready to start hatin, left a sub...
Salute bro🔥🔥🔥✊🏼
Same here
Same, but months ago. Shaq is one of the best reactors
Welcome to Shaq community man, ☮️ bro!
I take back my earlier comment, Shaq IS the best reactor.
I feel like this is a family.... "sad but true"
This song saved my life when I was a 13- 14 year old girl ❤
Me too. Love this song.
Me as well
Same 🤘
How?
What do you mean when you say "this song saved my life"?
I love that he recognizes the difficulty of the solos and stuff. Cuz most people think it sounds cool but don’t think about the talent aspect
Lmfao!!!!!😂😂😂😂😂
“Hold on.... Ja Rule opened the door !!”
Always makes me laugh with the Ja Rule jokes !!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I know right fuck Ja Rule lil bitch ass js lol
Ja getting L's even when he has nothing to do with the topic
Poor ja nobody like that guy thats tuff
Monicaaa!
That guitar solo is probably one of the best I've heard in my life. Perfection.
its a untouched masterpiece
The whole song is perfection to me. My favorite metal song ever. Debatably my favorite song ever.
"Metal is pure emotion." 👏👏👏
Life it seems to fade away
Drifting further everyday
Getting lost within myself
Nothing matters no one else
I have lost the will to live
Simply nothing more to give
There is nothing more for me
Need the end to set me free
Things not what they used to be
Missing one inside of me
Deathly loss this can't be real
Cannot stand this hell I feel
Emptiness is filling me
To the point of agony
Growing darkness taking dawn
I was me but now, he's gone
No one but me can save myself, but its too late
Now I can't think, think why I should even try
Yesterday seems as though it never existed
Death greets me warm, now I will just say goodbye
Goodbye
Love the Metallica reactions coach, need more!

***Might be the only one saying it but I Love to see a black man rocking to Metallica!
I'm sure people can relate!
Music has no color
@@tanside979 no, but the people who make and listen to music do.
@@IAmWhatevaUSayIAm Holy shit! No kidding? My mind is blown by your analysis!
I know the feels. I get excited seeing black people in metal bands. Seven Dust, Killswitch Engage, Zao (guitarist on Zao has a unique performance move that I swear is gonna require surgery one of these days).
music may indeed have no colour, but that doesn't change the fact it's rare to see a black person listening to metal. so that's cool.
Kirk 'the ripper' Hammett is making those beautiful sounds.
When he said "who is that?" at about 6:40...that would be James "papa" Hetfield...
Celynne Laliberte Tim “The Ripper” Owens. Kirk doesnt get that middle name.
@@efakter1 I don't care about Tim Owens.
Celynne Laliberte keep it right. Sounds so stupid.
As a kid no less
"Metal is emotion" you know... that really is a very good assessment
Oh shit!
This bout to be goooood!
I love this song... #herewego
Life it seems to fade awaaaaaay🖤drifting further everydaayyy🖤
Soooo happy right now !
"Do y'all think I am weird for trying to play the guitar with my face?" Hell no Shaq, a lot of the top guitarists in history have had crazy facial expressions because they are feeling the music that much. KEEP ROCKIN MAN
React to Iron Maiden’s “The Trooper”!!!
roeherpasa123 fuckin yes I was just thinking this
Do it
Yes, but the album version
The solo at the end of this song is one of my all time favorite
One of the best songs they ever wrote. Seen them in concert. Whole stadium was singing this when the played it.
Agreed best metallica song.
Metallica Battery, Welcome Home (Sanitarium), Damage Inc, SAD BUT TRUE MUST LISTEN
Hell yea coach! Listen to this one
These!!
Lmao Sad But True may be too heavy for him!
Yes, listen to Battery!
ABSOLUTELY!
What a story, that was...it was meant to be.. x
This is the kind of thing America needs right now. Shaq's videos blend cultures in such an amazing way. He talks about things with the lyrics in songs that I have listened to for years that I have never even thought of.
Music connects us all
James Hetfield - Lead Vocals/Rhythm Guitar
Kirk Hammett - Lead Guitar
Lars Ulrich - Drums
Cliff Burton - Bass Guitar (1982-1986)
Jason Newstead - Bass Guitar (1986-2001)
Robert Trujilo - Bass Guitar (2003-present)
Poor band used to have 4 members
You forgot Dave before kirk.
You forgot Ron McGovney
You forgot Dave mustain before kirk
What up coach. I'm giving this video a like before I even watch it. Thanks for posting videos all day every day my dude

"Death greets me warm, now I will just say goodbye." He's talking about fading away. Sad song but one of my faves. Good react.
His reactions makes me proud of being a metalhead haha
This journey will be life changing for you my dude. Glad to see it
""STOP YELLING AT ME ""...lol
the guitar is singing to you...
🎸 🎶 🤘😈🤘
"I'm trying to play the guitar with my face" Lol. That was of many great & funny quotes from this video. No Life Shaq never disappoints.
"Stop yelling at me!"
Now that shit made me giggle.
One of the best Reaction channels on RUclips.
Right up there with King KTF and Lost in Vegas.
Joy of the music and honest commentary.
Please keep it up!!!
realspark21 agree 110%
“I hit my knee already”
"Ja Rule always tryin to hear the good shit". 😂
Jimini I read as he said that 😂😂
Just watched this , 62 dislikes .. 62 souls that don't feel the emotion is all I can say (That's Tuff) !! Nice reaction coach !!
You can never have enough Metallica
Battery
Blackened
Ride the Lightning
The Four Horsemen
The Unforgiven I, II, and III
There is only one the unforgiven
Burnzem & Friends & which one is that? lol
Burnzem & Friends even though there’s 3...
@@zman2205 the first one...THE ONLY ONE
@Lewis Case well I think it's always necessary to listen to the unforgiven trilogy even if you don't like two or even three.
Fade to black was written when all of Metallica’s gear got stolen including James’ (who’s the singer and rhythm guitarist) amp. It was a really low time and they wrote it about the depression they faced
“They got me ready to go lift weights” 🤣🤣🤣 Kirk Hammett is the guitarist by the way coach.
Been waiting for more Metallica. Great choice of song coach. Kirt Hammet is the guy on the guitar u was wondering about.
Kirk Hammet and James Hetfield
Some of the best guitarists to ever play in my opinion.
Dude!
i dont think its life. i think its just something to represent the stages of grief. but music is music, the meaning is up to the listener.
Metal has the ability to draw the bad feelings out of you. It will make you fill better
Life long Metallica fan that just found your channel. Love the reactions! And I love that you delve in to the lyrics! That adds so much to your reaction imo.
I’ve been requesting this song since day one of your metal reactions. Thanks coach wait for the bars..
my fav metallica song all time no doubt. just so beautiful and such a master piece
One of the greatest pieces of music ever written.
What’s good NoLifeGang?! What’s good Shaq? Hope yall are having a BLESSED day. Let’s get it
Thanks Kelly. * Pewdiepie bro fist*
Kirk Hammett is a guitar God! Love seeing your reaction! "Stop yellin at me!!" 😂😂😂
React to Metallica *Fuel*
He is right Shaq. But don't listen to Fuel. I am an old Metallica head. My fav of all time. Hip hop is my blood, bars are the pump, but Metallica is my top band of all time. So trust me on this....
DO NOT listen to Fuel. That's on the "Load" Album and anyone knows that anything after the black album is doo doo in comparison..... No hate. It's just not the same.... You wanna REALLY know Metallica?
Shortest Straw
Disposable Heros
Harvester of Sorrow
There are many more. But those three, you can just pick one and it will also show you how BAD @$$ KHammet (the guitarist) really is
Also, check out "Cliff Burton bass solo Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth)" He died in a tragic bus accident while on tour.
@@dbo6948 oof
Metallica is so versatile...love when they change the pace up!!...this was a great reaction shaq!

Lesson #1 never pause in the middle of guitar solo!
React lesson #1 pause to no get a copyright :/
Sorry bro
Metallica Anesthesia pulling teeth live cliff Burton you will see what a bass solo is my guy!
Ride the Lightning is about (clinical) depression. As someone who went through it myself (for 12 years) before coming out the other side this song always gets me emotional recalling that dark, lonely time - the lyrics are very accurate as to how it feels.
The entire Ride the Lightning album is about death, just like the entire Master of Puppets is about things that control us.
What’s justice and the black album about?
