And he said at the end he’d must have heard it a million times on the radio but never knew who it was. That I can believe. You’d have to be feral in a cave in Saskatchewan to have never heard this. Even Amish people probably know this jam. lol
One of the best lines in rock: “Sing with me, sing for the years, sing for the laughter, sing for the tears, sing with me, just for today, maybe tomorrow the good lord will take you away”. There’s a reason these songs stand the test of time & are popular 50+ years later.

I'm black I grew up listening to rap in the 90s when I heard this song it gave me chills so deep! Love this song! I told my son to listen to all music every one got a story!

I've seen so many comments here regarding race. Let me begin by saying I'm a 50'ish black man. Do y'all remember music segregation in the music stores? Black artists were soul. White artists were rock, country, easy listening. This forced people to segregate within the store. I'm a member of the Lionel Richie FB group. Talking to another member, a white lady in Pennsylvania, she's hearing many of the hits by the Commodores, EWF, Jacksons, and others for the first time...now...in just the past few years. The first rock album I bought was VH's 1984. First I bought the 45 for Jump. Then Panama. I was about to buy Hot for Teacher but thought "I might as well buy the album" I remember the raised eye brow I got when I took the album to the cashier. The album was amazing. One of my favorite songs is "I'll Wait" Later, when David left the group, I saw on MTV "Live Without a Net". The songs were good, the energy...man! And then came Eddie's solo. What have I been missing?!? I own all of the Van Halen with Sammy CDs plus 1984. I also got into Aerosmith. In an interview regarding Run DMC and Walk This Way, Steven Tyler said he never understood judging people by their color. I had heard Dream On, but I never listened to it. I wasn't as animated as Shaq, but I was just as amazed. This song is deep. Steven Tyler can sang. Not just sing. He can sang. Listen, I can go on about black and white forever. We've all been sheltered by misunderstanding for decades. I can go on and on. If you read this, here's an e-hug :)
Kevan, fortunately I came from a country where we didn't have that problem and grew up listening all the great black musicians thru history, from Satchmo, Duke Ellinton; Ella Fitzgerald and even Robert Johnson. I love the music of black America because it's a big part of the soul of America. I've been taught Sinatra, but also Nat King Cole who was a huge hit in Argentina in the late 50's early 60's. Thank you for your music and I hope many generations can enjoy the beauty of the black music.

What makes the genre of "black people react to classic rock" so great is that these guys don't know the songs that were so much part of our lives. Its like getting to hear them for the first time again.
This is nothing new to me. People get confused when they ask me what kind of music I like. I was born in 1970, so think about the music then and how music has evolved. Everything from rock, funk, disco, classic, country to emo and grunge. Rap and hip hop too. And any other genre I might have missed.
You could say that exact same thing about the music that people like Snoop grew up listening to his uncle Junebug playing all the influential music that they listened to.
@@PrettyRagdoll That's fine, you can prefer whatever version of the song you'd like. I can't tell you that you're wrong for enjoying something, but it's not a false statement that Run DMC helped them regain popularity. They had been on a decline since the 70's.
Huh. I've listened to this song hundreds of times. This dude HEARD what Aerosmith was actually saying. Never put thought into the lyrics. My bad. Nice one, buddy.
I know I'm a month late but I just saw your comment. Actually the first lyrics of the song are about doing cocaine. "Every time when I look in the mirror, all these lines and my face getting clearer". The more lines he was snorting on the mirror the more he can see his face
Was in elementary school when I listened to this for the first time. Hits the same now as it did then. We all have regrets, failures and triumphs. This hits all of them.

Kathy here - just found your channel and so glad I did. What a song to have you react to my first time out with you. Aerosmith and Steven Tyler, lead singer, are one of the most iconic rock bands out there. Steven is still rocking today, and he is 70! He wrote this when he was 16 but didn't record it until he was an adult. The analogy of life for someone so young is astounding. Thanks for appreciating the music I grew up on.
I haven't heard Eminem's song, but even the title is a line from the song! It's getting ridiculous how "artists" just take from stuff instead of being an ARTIST nowdays!!!💀
Before everyone wants to kill me...let me just say, I love Eminem, ALWAYS have! I'm not throwing shade at HIM... That was about MOST "artists" these days...isn't being a true artist, being able to create YOUR own art?? Just sayin....

When i was in high school we used to practice to this in gymnastics, cheerleading and we rollerskated to it every Friday and Saturday night from 5:pm to 12:midnight.... Plus my mom used to take this out of my room and listen to it loud (when I say loud, you could hear it from 1 to 2 blocks away from the house) she danced with the broom and mop when she was cleaning the house. Dad used to watch her. There was times I'd walk into the house and mom & dad was dancing... I really miss mom & dad so much listening to this song...

You have to watch a live performance of this, and you will have even more respect for Steven Tyler and this band. It will bring tears. And now that they officially announced their retirement, you have to do a new reaction. He did a killer performance of this for Howard Stern birthday bash. And we saw the band live in Las Vegas residency a couple years back- true #Goats

Its honestly funny how many of these rock songs are so freaking DEEP but until you do a breakdown you dont notice, you are too busy rocking out over the great music and voices.
Aerosmith was one of the most underrated bands of the 70’s-80’s. In the 89’s that was all our music. Hell that one of the biggest reasons on how we made it through.
Steven just jumped right in to the deep end !!! I've heard that Steven Tyler wrote these lyric's when he was 16yrs. old ! Mighty deep lyric's for a teenager !!!!
Steven Tyler, the lead singer, was just a teenager when he wrote this song. Just amazing he could have that insight at such a young age. Dude Looks Like a Lady is a pretty fun Aerosmith song. It was epic I remember seeing it as a kid
there used to be an arcade game that had aerosmith. you would shoot records at people or things, I don't remember it but vaguely. this is probably early 90s
Lol I had that game on Sega!
I found that game on guitar hero 😂 I was like 6 at the time
Yeah, the collaboration was even better than the original with just Aerosmith. Get on it coach.
It's a great video.
My favorite all-time song. There's a sadness to it, but also an anger and tenacity to never give up. A true classic.

Exactly! It's like getting to hear them for the first time again, but knowing every note!
You could say that exact same thing about the music that people like Snoop grew up listening to his uncle Junebug playing all the influential music that they listened to.
I don't care if Steven Tyler is a buffoon now, he still wrote some of the most beautiful lyrics that were ever recorded. This song is a masterpiece.
True I know he just got out of rehab again brains are fried that's the reason Ozzy acts like he does
Yes he is a buffoon now lol
He should have been the more elderly of the psychic power/life force suckers in “Dr. Sleep”: the movie. Both have the gypsy look to them.
Love his personality and antics!
@@420TwistedUp tf are you talking about, he's so sophisticated now, the complete opposite to oz
You've just experienced one of the greatest song writers of all time. Steven Tyler is one of the GOATs.

That's why Run DMC had to save them from fading into obscurity right? This song is great, but Aerosmith is overrated.
@@Dilaudid281 false. The original walk this way is better.
@@PrettyRagdoll That's fine, you can prefer whatever version of the song you'd like. I can't tell you that you're wrong for enjoying something, but it's not a false statement that Run DMC helped them regain popularity. They had been on a decline since the 70's.
@@Dilaudid281 that's fair. I can't pretend to have been alive then. I'm 31 🤷🏿♀️😂

I've listened to this song hundreds of times.

Never put thought into the lyrics. My bad. Nice one, buddy.
Same
But I Have two reasons why
First english is not my first language and second im guitarist
I know I'm a month late but I just saw your comment. Actually the first lyrics of the song are about doing cocaine. "Every time when I look in the mirror, all these lines and my face getting clearer". The more lines he was snorting on the mirror the more he can see his face
Honestly same, but then again its kinda his job to breakdown songs, been doing it for a while too
Kevin Sykes damn lmao I always thought it was “all these lines on my face getting clearer”
Exactly..
Piano man- billy Joel. Let us see how that lyric,”they’re sharing a drink called loneliness, but it’s better than drinking alone.” Hits you

Eminem Sing for the moment is where you've heard this song

I haven't heard Eminem's song, but even the title is a line from the song! It's getting ridiculous how "artists" just take from stuff instead of being an ARTIST nowdays!!!💀

When i was in high school we used to practice to this in gymnastics, cheerleading and we rollerskated to it every Friday and Saturday night from 5:pm to 12:midnight.... You have to watch a live performance of this, and you will have even more respect for Steven Tyler and this band. It will bring tears. And we saw the band live in Las Vegas residency a couple years back- true #Goats

@@crzysnkeman4653 no, no, no. Every generation has their stuff that was popular, but wasn't objectively good. For example Vanilla Ice. The newer generation has great music across all genres i.e. Kendrick, J. @Ten O Sho you right. No bout a dout it, unless somehow he goes out of his mind and decides to jump on a plane and fly 10,000 miles around the world to meet someone he don't know from Adam. Its honestly funny how many of these rock songs are so freaking DEEP but until you do a breakdown you dont notice, you are too busy rocking out over the great music and voices.
