stunning shots i have dark power labs setup but 52weeks is enticing, i've actually had some data chirp from the 2240 board affecting my audio but they're sending a replacement
nice to see....i hope in the next sigma camera going forward hardware wise they include a stacked sensor for faster readouts and also controlling roiling shutter effect also include a IBIS a hybrid electromechanical shooter ....a better autofocus . in the same body size ....nice work👍
Cinema DNG out of this camera is indeed amazing. I wish the camera could monitor in a log format or something that shows the dynamic range better. It's too bad there was no 10 bit log for clients who don't want to deal with DNG.
Nice video! Using the Helios lens, does it feed information such as the F-stop/aperture back to the camera? And can you even adjust the aperture through the camera?
Great to hear you're visiting. fp L is ¥247500 which is about $1700USD. But both fp and fp L are on back order here in Japan unfortunately. Only current option is used (as of Aug 2024)
Kazuo San, I see that you use Sony cameras too. I am also thinking to switch to Sigma FP-L for CDNG for grading. What are your thoughts coming from a Sony user? Thank you very much!
Thanks for watching :) My videos are usually improvised so I actually prefer the quick workflow of Sony cameras using Slog3. For more professional shoots the CDNG will provide much better images and flexibility in post.
Kayuo San, I noticed you didnt focus on skin tones during grading. During shooting did you expose on skin or you did average metering? You overexposed 1-2 stops, so ISO should be constant
Yes my ISO was set to native 100 and used aperture and variable ND to adjust exposure. I made sure the skin was around 70 IRE without clipping the background cuz it was pretty bright at times. I just did it visually on the LCD.
@@KazuoItoga No idea, I suppose for myself it would mean not having to learn new colour grading software. Which to be honest confuse the hell out of me. And I remember reading it’s a viable alternative. Especially with 8 bit. I’ve been trying to locate the original article I read. No luck so far
@SpudUna Ah! Now I see where you're coming from. I think you cannot edit CinemaDNG in Lightroom as a video clip. You might be able to edit a single frame as a photograph. Sorry that I can't think of a good solution at the moment...
@@KazuoItoga yes you choose one frame from your clip. Adjust to your liking, then batch process the remaining frames using your chosen frame as a preset.
Great video, Overpriced 3D Print like seriously... $105 for an plastic SSD Holder and a screw?!?!? NO THANKS It doesn't even come with a cable like... HARD PASS
great work! love the samples
Thanks very much Anson!

These footages are so gorgous! Kanae-san look really cool in there too!lol
Thanks so much! :)
Great Video. Makes me want an FP. Great little camera!
Thanks! Such a fun and capable camera.
If this camera had IBIS and better autofocus I would never need another camera.
I hear you. Thanks for watching :)
It looks like a movie. Nice work. 👍
Thanks so much!
neat SSD bracket but for $105 they need to figure out a better USB cable solution

Yeah, like putting Sony a1 sensor in the fp. Or even a global shutter like a9iii in a compact body? I'n drooling :)
Excellent!!!!!!
Thanks so much :)
Nice work!
Thanks!

Good points. I would mention that the 8-bit files of this camera are surprisingly good!
Should mention that ProRes and BRAW are only possible with an external recorder, like a Black Magic Video Assist or an Atomos brand one.
Thanks very much for the clarification! I mentioned output to HDMI but failed to mention an external recorder.
What should the master settings be under project settings? Thanks for your time.
Nice Work Thanks
Thank you!
do you sell the "secret sauce" lut?
Which gimbal are u using ? Is it a native arca swiss mount ?
Nice video! Using the Helios lens, does it feed information such as the F-stop/aperture back to the camera? And can you even adjust the aperture through the camera?
Thanks! There's no electronic contact so no info is passed to camera. Focus and aperture are adjusted on the lens manually.
@@KazuoItoga Great, thank you for that information!
Kazuo San, may I ask you the price of Sigma FP L in Japan? haha. I am traveling over there in Nov/ Dec for a holiday.

Thanks for sharing. Does the SSD plate fit existing cages?
It is a 1/4-20 screw mount but I don't think it fits existing cages.
@@KazuoItoga thanks

Great video. Personally I'd still pull down those clipping highlights a bit more.
Thanks! Appreciate the feedback :)
Can you record cdng to pixel to pixel 4K cropped mode?
Thanks for watching. I'm not sure if the crop mode 4K is pixel to pixel. Sorry for my lack of knowledge.
Have you considered batch editing the dng's in lightroom ?
I haven't. What's the benefit?

How big were the 12 bit CinemaDNG files? Any info on how large the files were for the amount of footage you were able to shoot would be helpful!
I averaged about 350-400MB/sec of footage. Filled about 80% of 1TB SSD for a full day of shooting. Thanks for watching :)
Many FP owners use the Slimraw app as part of their workflow to reduce file sizes
@@KazuoItoga if you can remember, about how many hrs/minutes of footage did that turn out to be?
I think about 30-40 minutes of footage. You can probably get just short of 1 hour of footage on a 1TB SSD.
The footage really suffers from not being stabilized. Its quite jittery.
Great! When installing this SSD in the Sigma fp, how many minutes of continuous shooting were possible in Cinema DNG 12bit?
Thanks! I didn't do a run-down test, but on this day we started before noon and shot on and off all day until evening with 2 batteries!
@@KazuoItoga Great! Learning this gave me the courage to try shooting long continuous videos with my Sigma fp.
I’ve done test with a 2TB DRIVE and one shot filled the drive.
Great video. Personally for me, 30fps would never cut it.
Thanks! Good point about the fps.
It does 100fps, only in 1080p but full sensor, 12 bit. Very useable
You should use a ND filter in direct sunlight.
Good advice!
I use sigma fp and Arri Alex, somehow I feel sigma is better on color science.
