This is the most honest and open comment I’ve ever gotten. I am SUPER curious on how you are a recovering Fujifilm user. What Sony are you shooting on?
@@Ansonandco so I left Fuji because i need af that actually works. Fuji can’t do that. I was recording stand up videos with subjects barely moving and the AF would jitter and ruin my video. I knew I had to dump my Fuji gear in favor of Sony. I love the Sony af, I love that the button ergos make way more sense than the tiny nonsense buttons of the xh1s I owned. But the Sony colors just aren’t half as nice as fujifilm. But an in focus meh-colored video and photo is better than an out of focus photo with great colors. I sold my xt2, one of my xh1s, kept one kept my xpro1 (I’ll be buried with it and the 18mm f2). Sold all three red badge zooms and several other lenses. I now own an a7cR, a9ii, soon I’ll own an a7iv and I have lots of Zeiss glass I love that adds that Je Ne Sais Quo that is lacking in most Sony glass. I shoot news and sports full time for about 30 years and now have the side hustle of this RUclips channel too. I see the FP and I wonder if it’s a tool that I’d find suitable for my personal and professional work. I appreciate your thoughts in this video and I love your channel. And I appreciate you taking the time to reply to my comment. Dave K
After three years of use, it is the only camera that stayed that long with me. No overheating, batteries last forever, 12bit 1080 cdng exposed to save hightlights worked for me in every scenario possible (no ssd needed!) Weather sealed,no flip screen is a big plus with me. Every sony, bmpcc etc. user should at least once just feel the on-off switch on fp to get the idea how a camera body can and should be made. Thank you for all the videos about it, and to mention - when I saw your and Gudzon material, even here on compressed yt, I just knew there is something special about it. Cheers!
I love my two fp's. I have one at work for occasional stills but mostly as my Zoom camera - plug and play, great image. I moved from the Sigma SD Quattro, and use the Sigma MC-21 adapter for those SA-mount Art lenses, which is really good value. I've since collected some Sigma Contemporary lenses, and recently picked up a used Leica SL2 for cheap - all use L-mount so again, great value. I like the LVF-11 even though it makes for a bigger package - so immersive. I use mine occasionally for RUclips videos and love the quality, but setting up the external monitor is more than I want to do sometimes - a tiltable viewfinder would have been nice. But I always come back to the quality of the images, and the color. -Tom
I had no idea that today was THAT day! Happy fp day from the UK everyone. I have an fpL that I use exclusively for landscape photography. It's non-mainstream approach and layout force me to think just a little bit harder about what I'm photographing, why I'm photographing, and how I go about - I really like that aspect about this camera. BTW where can I get me one of those fp shirt/tops that you were wearing?
It is THAT day! Happy fp day good sir. I would love to say these are for sale, but I am not sure if sigma is going to sell them. I got mine as a gift. I’ll sell you mine for $1k 😉
Punch into zoom super functional. Quick menu rocks. Easy check of false colours (yes I know this isn’t so useful on external monitor). And go. And if you know and abide by the rules (do not clip highlights at ISO 100!!!) it’s just an incredible camera. You can really learn your craft with this camera. And end up with an image that is way beyond its price point. I’m not a pro but I’ve delivered contents to clients in my grown up job and they’ve been wowed by the quality (not my talent). Plus there is something about the stills that are totally punching. Yes I love this camera. Hope they have a uk event too
I don't think you do, as you have to go down in bitrate a lot. Open gate is 24Mpx while 4k is ~8Mpx. So open gate is 3 times the bitrate to 4K. To manage this you have to reduce bitrate by 3 times.
You can have pixel binning or line skipping in open gate too, that’s the way they do their 4K and 1080p right now. I don’t need the full readout, just the larger image area.
Happy Fp day!, i really wish they would consider hardware upgrade services or more add on component upgrades for the FP, like yes FP is very well equipped for film making, but as you progress in your craft there will be things that you'd wish it had. Example their EFV attachment was a brilliant idea, Why not develop different styles and spec versions for it? most of us spend tons of money on 3rd party accessories to expand the functionality of the fp why not make an inhouse variant like a fully articulated screen hardware upgrade, since they are already upgrading button and scroll wheel upgrade for the FP upgrading the screen is the similar amount of work.
I wish they would create an in house solid SSD solution. I’m tired of cables. If they could make something that fits on the side like the EVF, it would be a game changer
@@Ansonandco and like properly list the compatible ssd for full performance recording as well as the volt and ampere range required for dummy batteries, that would solve so much anxiety for the entire community.
It's hard to work with. Almost sold it twice. I can't ditch cDNG. That kidn of quality is very hard to find in any modern camera with fake raw with baked in NR. I like s35 crop. But it is a nightmare to work with sometimes. I had some holiday shot last year and frames startd dropping randomly. On same ssd that worked later without problem till today.
I have been using the FP since right after it was released and it is my least favorite camera. The image quality is really good, but the camera itself is difficult to use out in the field. In fact, it's the worst camera that I've ever used out in the field. No articulating screen makes it impossible to see the screen in bright sunlight or when you've got the camera higher or lower than eye level. Also, having no built-in viewfinder was a terrible design decision. Sure, you can buy the external evf, but by the time you buy everything you need to make this camera comfortable and usable, then you could buy a much better camera in the first place. Trying to get through the cumbersome menu when you're out in the field and trying not to miss a shot is incredibly frustrating. I could go on about all of the different things I don't like, but I'll end with the most horrendous autofocus system that I've ever used in a camera. Watching people try to promote this camera after so many years of it being out and not many people buying it is hard to watch. I would never recommend this camera to anyone. Sigma needs to stop trying to push it and get back to the design table and fix all of the flaws with it and release the second version with all of the corrections.
I really want to buy this camera before it gone away from the market but it need tons of SSD to store the data. And i dont know whether this camera can record in MOV or MP4 format with high quality bcz i dont need RAW files evrytime. Second is it doesnt comes with ibis and Sigma doesnt make ibis lenses so have to use Panasonic lenses on it may be it's not a great combination? Or have.
"Compact Cine Cam"... more like a compact Hybrid Cam. It doesnt have built in NDs or a global shutter. Just cause it can record video doesnt make instantly a "cinema" cam
I used to not call it a cinema cam. But when Sony put out the fx3 as a cinema cam I threw that out the window. It has more cine cam features that the fx3 or 30
Is this lens really made of Brass? It might not be a good idea to use it on any camera unless you use a seal between. Brass is a more noble metal than aluminium and because metals react to one another (especially in a humid environment), the least noble of the two metals will corrode or oxidize in the case of aluminium.
Happy fp Day and thank you for your enthusiasm about our favorite little camera!

Need gyro sensor add on to negate lack of ibis. Import into gryroflow to stabilise. Or Sigma can make their own software?
Both would be amazing!

Any indication of a firmware update? It’d be nice to capture LOG internally.
I don’t think log is a possibility. I did put the bug in their ear about 10 bit color modes. So maybe one day we will get 10bit non raw
Debating getting a sigma lens for this. Thinking about one of their contemporary zooms. Maybe the 16-28
So should I get a6700 or sigma fp as a beginner?
what are your top lenses for the FP?
Sigma 45mm f2.8. Sigma 50mm f1.2. And sigma 70-200
is exposure still off for everything above 100 iso?
No, with EL zone, if you shoot in 12 bit it will be accurate measurement. The display is still showing rec709 but the exposure tool will be accurate
