    In this video we take a PSA upper receiver group with a FN CHF barrel, made from the same barrel steel as the FN249 and FN240 belt fed machine gun barrels, and see what sort of abuse it can take with continuous full auto fire. Stay tuned, much more on the way.

      Broken Medic I agree 100% those who say psa is junk, will never fire more then 100-200 a year! I have a psa 10.5 that I couldn't tell you how many rounds I have through it and it still runs like a sewing machine. Haters gonna hate all while they are broke from mall ninja parts.

      Joseph Pyritz I buy all of my uppers from psa with the stainless barrels. They are as accurate as I need and if called upon to defend myself or my family, I KNOW they will do the job right. I am sure ppl will cry about how they couldn't survive in war type conditions, but they aren't made to. Buy a cmmg if you want a rifle that will fire THOUSANDS of full auto roumds round a day and be cooled by dumping a bottle of water on it to keep going. But you also pay way more for that.

    Any firefight where you are dumping like this would be rare even in war I think lol... • @googlesbitch
    @googlesbitch 4 года назад +1

    The chrome lining kept the combustion gasses from cutting through the barrel unlike the other AR barrels which eventually blew out near the chamber. Hammer forging hardens the rifling and makes it last 2X longer and then chrome lining doubles the life further making it last very long while only sacrificing slightly in accuracy. The FN barrels I have has a slightly taper rifling and I notice it when pushing a cleaning patch down barrel it gets slightly tighter as I push rod down the barrel. This might explain why FN barrels shoot better than most barrels yet still have a chrome lining.

    I just finish working on my PSA carbine Length. One of the reason I bought it because of the FN barrel and the 5000 round test Rob Ski did on Ak Operators. So the barrel is decent but the gas tube sucks? I should be ok with a semi auto lower I guess...

    • @GrumpyGenXGramps
      @GrumpyGenXGramps 6 лет назад +20

      trowelstar the gas tube doesn't really suck. It actually did its job. It failed before the rifle did. Think of a gas tube on an AR or M16 like a "fusible link" in an electric device. It burns before any of the more important or expensive parts get destroyed. Not so important in a civilian AR as it is in a Military M4/M16 so yours will most likely not give you an issue.
      In reality, all the other AR meltdowns they have done were failures and this one wasn't. The other ARs should have blown their gas tubes before the barrels blew out.

    • @trowelstar
      @trowelstar 6 лет назад +13

      Hanlon Kitto Can you go into why you believe that. Besides what the video proved which is what the original design was intended for was the tube to fail before the gun self destruct? Because the gas tube keep the other parts from being damaged. Plus he running a machine gun lower on a system made for semi auto fire. If you run semi auto shouldn't be a problem. Or is it because you are a brand name gun enthusiasts who looks down on other people options when everyone doesn't have the money for a Daniel Defense, Colt, or any other expensive "brand".

    • @hanlonkitto
      @hanlonkitto 6 лет назад

      trowelstar the AR-15 parts kit charging handle and upper that I got from them a year or so ago were completely out of spec. There is a difference between a well-built AR such as a colt and companies like PSA that are catering to the lowest common denominator. Even though I'm only a weekend warrior I have completely lost confidence in them as anything more than a range toy

      Send the channel $1750.00, and perhaps they might do it. Come on these uppers cost less than $400 and even doing a complete rifle the price is less than $1K. All the AK melt downs were donated rifles. I bet the Tavor would do well. Israel has a great reputation for building quality stuff. And the Tavor has been in service for a few decades now with the IDF. As well as, the barrels are cold hammer forged.

    • @ricks.1092
      @ricks.1092 6 лет назад +2

      Mauser Man...I go to Israel every July for a conference. All I see is Tavor's and some X-95's. Even if an IDF soldier is getting off shift, they bring their rifle with them everywhere. When the IDF is taking promotional pictures or for whatever else, they aren't illustrating the firearm. Which the IDF see's as a tool. Yes, AR15 are still in circulation. However over the last eight years going to Israel. Each year I see more Tavor's of different variants. BTW, I'm not affiliated with Israel in any manner. Just go there for a medical speaking engagement I'm obligated by under contract. I will admit, they people there are nice and I'm always treated quite well. If the Palestinians were smart. The would make nice with Israel and then learn what they could from them. That being said. I suppose war and fighting is big business for many over there. Arafat died a Billionaire.

    The reason why the gas tubes these days don't usually fail the way it was supposed to in the original stoner design is because the original stoner design was running 20" barrels with rifle length gas systems. Much more mass to keep the barrel cooler, and much less pressure at the gas journal compared to the carbine/mid length gas systems we use today on the M4 platforms
