That is really impressive for a sub $1k piston driven AR. Well done Adam Arms. I think you guys are doing a better job of arming the country than most other manufacturers.
Geez the piston p2 model upper alone I got was $1300. 8.5” 300blk. Worth it. Compared to all the other $300 hit or miss uppers, and unsuppressed is equally compared to $5-600 DI uppers.
Dude, I have ARs that have gone further that DON'T have a piston.
@@coffee_drinker2912it all depends on the circumstances, material and ammo , also how you shoot . If I did drills and controlled my heat and round count I could make a ar di or piston probubly last 50 k rounds it just depends on how hot you get it. Anything will fail when you make the steel start to fall apart on a molecular level.
Besides, this guy is a DI fan boy trying to start a di vs piston debate he plans on winning@coffee_drinker2912
The Adams Arms piston system appears not to have been the point of failure; rather, the droop of the near-melted barrel is what caused the stoppage. Great product Adams Arms!!
i was literally cringing when he kept shooting it after the barrel was drooping like that, im pretty sure he wanted the barrel to blow. thats why we love you lol
I'm from the UK and despite not understanding a single word of what you are saying, upper, lower etc lol i find these videos very interesting.
If you ever visit the USA go to the nearest gun range with rentals and try one out. It’s surely something to behold. Something I think a lot of us take for granted.
@@deaderthendead041 uhhh because people don’t realize how easy it is to go shoot in America? You can do it any time in most places. Some places you don’t even need to go to a range. It makes perfect sense if your IQ isn’t room temperature. 🤦🏻♂️
@@deaderthendead041 this is the stupidest shit I’ve ever read.
You should build a AR upper using the Adams Arms kit, and see how the piston system runs with a barrel that can handle it.
He did a piston ar test with an hbar it ran to roughly 830 rounds then failed due to the piston
@royrogers3624 With the Adam's Arms piston system?
@TyinAlaska No, it was LMT piston upper. It's carrier had too much peening and failed.
An armorer from Battle Field in Las Vegas said all of the piston systems on 5.56, except HK, fall short in long-term reliability, and DI is the way to go.
@@5jjt😂😂😂 he was full of crap
@@5jjtlwrc, Adams arms, Sig sauer, and FN all make high quality piston ars, long-term reliability is definitely a thing with them. There is no way that a system that propels all the hot gas propellant etcetera into the moving parts of a gun is better than one that moves it away
When you were letting those flames lick that meprolight I was having an internal crisis.
Oh I know I can’t believe they had that on there. Wonder how it faired???
Adam’s arms is a great company, I put on custom aluminum handguards on mine, had some issues, sent it to Adam’s arms company, they machined my handguards for me to get their system to work for free. Sent it back to me. Love it.
wow.. they were in no way obligated to do that... let alone for free... That's some top-tier customer service right there
You guys should make a ranked list of the round count for each firearm and display it at the end of the video. Just to see how they compare to previous meltdowns.
Pooverdamn that is a great idea should be on a white board and call it top gunned be like top gears celebrity track times lol
Really good idea 👍🏻
Absolutely. That would save people time looking into cost effective Ar's. The ar market has so many smaller manufacturers nowadays it's hard to keep up
Whenever my barrel droops I hold it upside down.
Damn and that's continuous fire on full auto. Not bad Adams arms.
I like the part when you turned your face away from the gun. So if anything happened it wouldn't hit the face armor it would have just gone into the side of your head. Genius
I mean trying to continue shooting a barrel that is deflected like 10 degrees is also pretty genius
He's probably thought to him self " Please don't explode, please don't explode, please don't explode, please don't explode."
*eliteKeeper;*
There *are* worse way to go. 🙂
Why not melt down a short barrel H&K 416. It would be the first real test of one on RUclips.
💰 so much money. Man I love that gun!
Yup! I’d like to see how a hk416 compares to the POF.
@@chriswilson1098 its pretty much the same thing
@@chriswilson1098 I mean design how it works at least.
I totally agree i would love to see this. I would also like to see how PWS holds up.
Can you do another Adams Arms but with a different rail? I feel like that melted fire from the plastic hand rail had some effect on it.
Or just straight up remove the hand guard and go full M240 style.
Plastic handguard, adams arms look bad, you should have used their standard metal rail not retro. The handguard fire helped melt the barrel
@@luckeypolishing i have the same kit, came directly that way from Adams. So it's not like 8888 threw together something Adams doesn't sell. That said, I think it's pretty obvious they don't expect people to go full auto for 600 rounds without stopping....
@@innercityprepper yeah but after watching this I do. 😅
I love Adams Arms. Their AA-15 full AR-15 rifle and AR-10 full rifle are amazing.
I'd like to see a meltdown video using a binary trigger that the average person could afford vs. a full auto lower. It could be a test of the trigger and endurance of the upper.
That forced reset one that ATF had a shit-fit over would be a good test. That thing was basically FA when it came to speed.
i just imagined that the person's finger will be out first from cramp or tired than the piston or barrel.
Can you make a chart or something of all the different uppers you used with their max round count before failure ?
Sharp Works I was just thinking this myself!
Sharp Works I was wondering how it compared to the palmetto entry upper . I have to watch the video for that round count again
Sharp Works I think they need to loose the plastic handguards to test actual gas systems and weapons.
I don't care how long the gun lasts with 10$ plastic handguards. Once it catches fire, it will melt. It's on fire.
When they test with plastic handguards it ruins it for me.
Joe Morrell - agreed. Plastic handgaurd limits them due to the amount of heat the system is getting because of open flame.
That Guy It bums me out every time they do that. It tests that system with those handguards. Not the system itself. Disappointed...
I think the Adams Arms would have gone longer if it would have had an aluminium hand guard instead of a plastic one
That’s exactly why I had a custom aluminum hand rail installed on my Adams arms piston upper. I had to have it professionally machined but it was worth it. It’s a great upper.
The barrel drooped.
Or just no hand guard at all and just expose the barrel to the air like the US military does with their vehicle mounted M240 machine guns.
Mines got a Samson rail and a medium contour barrel for that reason
I love these meltdown videos the Adams Arms did a lot better than I originally thought it would
I’d like to see you meltdown a p2 upper now. It would be an interesting revisit, comparing the next step up from the bare bones model.
Meltdown day / casual afternoon in Murica :)
naXter and thats how it needs to stay! We gotta always make sure to be one up and and one step ahead of liberal snowflakes.
I really want to see the pile of brass after these. Everytime I am left disappointed in that regard.
LET FREEDOM RING FELLAS!!!!!!
I’d like to see how well the PWS mod2 upper would hold up against the POF . Keep them coming !! Love the melt down test !
I've owned Adams Arms GP, Stag Atms GP & CMMG GP. Never had any problems, and apparently Adams Arms were the manufacturer of other piston systems. Great builds for the price, they last pretty well for the price. Ive own others but these Adams arms i like to take camping or traveling. They beat up pretty nicely too.
awesome test as always
please do a full auto saiga shotgun meltdown!!!
Tobi C. 12AA SHOTGUN!
Please can you make m60 and m249 meltdown!
Cristian Sorin -_-
And what
What an amazing idea
As an Adams Arms upper owner, I really appreciate this video. Not the result I was expecting.
When were you expecting?
Tavor meltdown, or any other bullpulp.
Where would you get a full auto one? That's the problem.
Rafael Alódio screw all that noise you do a meltdown on one of those and you have all that hot right by your face and the chest if something were to decide to explode it's going right into you
Richard Rohde A post-sample build. These guys can get one if they want one.
I think the main problem with this is that, if it explodes, it explodes right beside your neck and head.
A Steyr Aug would be cool
Bull barrel(chrome lined)
Free float hand guard
There problem solved.
6:44 " Slightly out of spec " made me burst out laughing ! Brilliant ! Superb video ! That ran much longer than expected . Proof good value still is out there !
I really want to see the standard conversion kit, on a cold hammer forged chrome lined barrel, and see what It can do. Because personally, I have a number of their kits, and their barrel quality seems to be somewhat lacking over the quality of the piston parts. That's what I want to see. A standard conversion kit with a high-quality barrel.
Wesley Pipelayer I agree, I want to do an AA piston build with an FNH hammer forged, chrome lined barrel from PSA.
Wesley Pipelayer i have the dissipator upper. Pencil barrel. This was quite informative. I can say i am satisfied with my Adams arms piston upper
Agreed!
Yep I just saw it again it's on Fox News channel here in Houston Texas congratulations guys good to see you and the whole crew too
I wonder how an Adam's Arms would do with a heavier barrel that's less likely to droop like the goofy M4 profile? That upper and carrier were pretty dang clean.
I have been considering an Adams Arms upper or the bolt on kit for my wife's AR. Definitely going with a pinned upper with bolt/carrier etc. Truly worth the extra cost and still cheap vs others. Well done Adams Arms! Thanks for this test series!
I wonder how many more rounds it would've went with a heavy barrel?
Username3544 heavy and shorter would’ve gone longer.
As soon as he mentioned the M4 cut I thought the same thing
@@treeysmithson6408 I ran their xlp kit on a noveske afghan barrel with a binary for 11 mags (330 rounds of white box 5.56) and no POI shift after cooling. Did replace the piston and plug as a just in case move.
Averaged 580rds/min per mag so not bad. Burnt my glove though.
Hey IV888 can you do a melt down with a high quality ar like daniel defense, noveske, hk416, larue, or knights armament?
ADO Photoshop Breakdowns the hk416 is not the same gun like an ar-15. Not at all points... The hk416 have a better system. More effective and reliable.
Exactly what makes the HK more effective or reliable? Especially compared to something like the KAC?
HK 416 pls. or a other hk rifle.
Yeah, melt a hk416, and also melt a Scar17 Heavy! That would be
scientifically informative.
Melt down videos are the best.
I'd like to see a Del Ton or Diamondback AR upper meltdown since they're alternatives to PSAs inexpensive ARs.
Also a PWS Mk1 upper would be neat, just to see how the long stroke system holds up versus the POF shortstroke.
Welcome back guys this is eric here with iv8888. We are never gonna meltdown a fucking BCM SOCOM upper. Thank you have a nice day. BEOTCH
I like that you guys are testing entry level guns. The average person that's buying a gun is only buying entry level anyways. Keep up the good work because I want to continue to see how entry level guns perform
Maybe it would have gone longer if the crap plastic hand guard wasn't adding to the heat from being on fire🤔
I think it would've went longer too!
Here's the thing about the Adam's arms gun it's a pain in the ass to change out the handguards because they are cut to fit the piston system on the gun, I'm going through this now with my rifle, because I want to convert it to double point sling from a single point sling, and switching out the handguards has been hell nothing fits.
Chase Harris go figure I can never seem to find any that fit my gun
I ❤️ USA 🇺🇸 ,,,
From Finland 🇫🇮 ,, we love you USA people
Thanks!
We LOVE you too Finland!
Luv ya back!
We love you guys too, when our great president is finished with the cleansing move here, we welcome you your civility and your sanity, God Bless.
@Juri Han We don't worry too much about you people, especially now, you best behave yourselves.
You should do a meltdown with a 10/22 with a trigger crank.
He could probably just make a full auto 22
Daniel defense and bcm meltdown!
Great video as usual, never let down by your tests ! Im impressed, the piston system outlasted the barrel. I know that some folks love their drum mags but they seem like a novelty to me, I'd rather have 15 rd mags that function than 60 rd drums that function sometimes.. just me I guess.
Look at the Desert Tech Quattro-15. It's the best compromise of both worlds, and extremely reliable.
Do a ruger 10/22 meltdown
Carter Fulton its very hard to melt down a 22lr. Does not get hot enough.
And your finger would fall off lol
Alex Echeverria ratedrr made a full auto 10/22 lol
Yes!!! I suggested that in the last video.
That would be quite a job!
Arguably a .22 has a barrel life of a quarter to a half a million rounds,
(semi auto or bolt action mind you)
in addition to being "unreliable" compared to center fired cartridges
when it comes to duds in relation to quantity of fired shots.
Then you have to figure in failure to feed and all the other stuff.
.22 is dirty and finicky.
Don't get me wrong, it would be fun as hell to watch :)
but it would make for an hour and a half video, if not more :P
Do a bazooka melt down
MegaMentholMan no. That's just stupid, everyone knows he should do a mini gun meltdown before that
MegaMentholMan yes. All the eff yesses.
Not A Meth Dealer oh yes. A minigun meltdown
Not A Meth Dealer you got lucky, i was about to wooosh you
Awesome video. I was thinking about getting one of those Adam Arms upper for my next AR-15 project.
as a proud owner of an adams arms upper and a mutt of lower reciever parts, thanks for the video!
Please do a *bullpup* -rifle meltdown
all these AR / AK meltdowns are pretty similar most of the times.
I really wanna see a bullpup getting (too) hot
It would be longer and more dangerous, bc chamber Is closer too your arm, and barrel is longer so it could melt, instead of cooking the bullets
My suggestion the Daniel Defense LW barrels . I'm curious if it fails sooner because of the thinner profile
3:54 Who else noticed a piece of the scope fall off?
it looked like the cover
Drew Zaio just the lense cover
looks like a sun shade or lens cap
I think it was just a lens cover
I seen something come off that thing
M16A2 / AR-15 A4 rifle length upper melt down.
Melt the barrel before the upper malfunctions?? Well I'm sold.
I blew up laughing when you were saying the barrel is drooping THEN loading a mag in it lol holy shit thats awesome
I'd love to see you do this to one of the new Ruger AR 556 uppers!
Pencil barrel vs Bull vs Carbon fiber meltdown side by side at the same time.
thank you so much it's amazing to see all this rifle how much they can really take. PLEASE I love to see LMT Daniel 2000. PLEASE
I have an Adams Arms 5.45x39mm piston upper on my pistol and it's been through at least 3k rounds of 7n6 and Wolf Military Classic, never been cleaned besides water sprayed through it when firing corrosive ammo and still runs like a champ. I'm waiting for the day that it gives my problems and I have to take it apart and scrub that thing. Adams Arms makes really nice uppers for the price. I think I got mine for $500 or so years ago.
Those D-60s dgaf while the X-Products be like I'll work when I feel like it
DO AN ARAK21 UPPER! 👍👍👍👍
nemisans13 wild guess, shoot 900+ rounds in a row and it fails.
He sounded British when he said “we are catching fire”
Do a hi pint 40 cal melt down
Who doesn't love a good meltdown video?
Yeay! Got Adams Arms, good to see it at max limit! Thanks, I'm sleeping like a baby tonight.
Kids in Africa could have eaten that lead.
You mean Antifa millennials?
>"Africa"
Get back to me when you wanna' feed Chicago.
ded, this is the BEST comment. im still laughing.
+RECOIL816 even better!
Dumbest comment
@iraqveteran8888 CHALLENGE- find a budget bolt gun, see what problems occur from continued fire of several hundred rounds!!!
Sig P226 Meltdown!
semi automatic will take much much longer to melt down
On your next meltdown use an aluminum foregrip instead of plastic. Wrap aluminum foil for the bacon and spam
The only down side to having gas escape in the hand guard is fire. Notice where the barrel started to droop, its exactly where the piston releases the gas.
How about a meltdown vid of a P90? Or a AA-12?
Dilligaf 666 p90 would be really cool with its high rate of fire and every mag being a 50 rounder lol but with an aa12 I think they would have the same problem as with the .22 lr the ammo just wouldn't be able to get the barrel or any part of the action hot enough, slugs would be the only option I think
Do a Springfield Armory Saint meltdown next! Pretty sure I heard something about it having a BCG that's full auto capable.
sawyer tabit Most AR-15 rifles sold have the M16 carrier cut. That really is not a special trait.
I really wanna see how LWRC flutted barrels perform
Look at how cool that upper receiver is with a piston system Good stuff.
I have one of these Uppers. Zero Malfunctions so far. of course I'm not shooting 500 rounds in 5 minutes, so I'm completely content with it.
5 hundred and *69* rounds giggity...
diamond back ar15 upper
I'm curious if you removed the handguards if the upper would have lasted longer? I'm thinking the heat from the fire spead up the warping of the barrel.
I thought the same thing myself
Yeah. This is kind of retarded. It drooped in the area where the handguard was burning in front of the gasblock. Common sense would dictate that burning handguards would add to the heat in a way that more expensive rifles with a free float like their POF test didn't have to contend with. I bet he would have doubled the round count on this AA had he ran it without any handguard.
Ashley Weeks really just depends on when the barrel melted. Yes the burning handguards might have added some heat. But the explosions inside the barrel were much hotter, and that Barrel wasn't going to last much longer anyway. This is why belt-fed machine guns have quick change barrals.
The fact it was an m4 cut barrel profile didnt help either
SasquatchyCowboy quick change barrels are because beltfeds typically lock up from overheating.
Best AR torture on the web, bar none.
Pretty neat. I was thinking crap this is how you die in Zombie apocalypse. The gun just melts and the Zombies finally get you.😅
Hey Eric,
I'd love to see how a carbon fibre wrapped barrel holds out.
We keep hearing them say they dissipate heat better, and are a stiffer barrel than the competition ... but the proof is in the pudding :) #carbonmeltdown
Second!
5:29 video would have been legendary if someone tossed a strip off bacon at him right there.
Do a tavor meltdown
Or does that require existence-proof gloves
trayvon meltdown
How about a Ruger 300 Blackout, I didn't even know Ruger was in the 556 pistol game........Melt one down
I like how the AR does nothing with ur movement XD ur capability with it is outstanding
Wolf A1 piston upper!
is there a bull barrel that u can pit on an upper? This meltdown is exactly how I always imagined an Ar would fail if ran non stop full auto. Obviously I'm curious if a bull barrel would last longer due to being thicker. I'm also curious to know if the barrel being thicker would force the gas tube to fail first every time and if it would transfer enough heat to damage the lower. Also at what point do u reach diminishing returns on beefing up components to what is feasible to carry in battle or even just hunting and plinking
That's one of Adams cheap cheap uppers. The tac evo and elite would have lasted longer. Especially w/out the guards 👍🏾
Watching some of these old videos, it definitely seems to reinforce the fact that GI barrels are the most garbage barrel cut you can use.
These are the coolest videos on the internet
Almost 600 rounds full auto for an Adams Arms, good enough for me. I only have semi and no drums.
Hey can you do a berreta 93R next.
NEVER OBEY
If he finds one
93R's are pretty rare. It was mainly an Italian police pistol. He'd have to find some Hollywood gun rental company to get one here in the states I think. And I highly doubt they'd let him do a melt down video with it.
BlueFox284
*Italian Special Forces
@TheOtakuComrade
So, is that anything like the Special Olympics?
Yes, I know I'll burn for that. Bad fingers, bad!
melt an LWRC DI upper
packer492 I totally agree. However, a piston upper.
packer492 Pretty sure they did alrrady2
packer492 they tried and it wouldnt
you mean, a regular ar15 upper priced 10x as much?
Awesome, thanks for sharing these! The most robust looking piston system I have seen yet is the CMMG: I wonder how that would do.
Wish list:
1.) BCM mid length meltdown
2.) Faxon ARAK 21 melt down
YOU DA MAN!
why leave the optics on them seems dumb?????
BulletBitN Who knows.
In past tests they've included optics to see if the extreme heat damages or makes it stop working. The Trijicon MRO they tested lasted longer than the upper it was attached to
without an optic how is he going to know where he's shooting... lol
I mean it's not like he was even using the optic lol
Kevin Garcia He's not using it, so aiming cannot be why it's on there.
BCM for the next melt down video!
Am I correct in the assumption that, for the most part, this test melts barrels?
The barrel on an Adams gun is nitrided.
I'm curious (I know you aren't going to do this) to know how an Adams piston gun rebarreled with an FN cold hammer forged and chrome lined barrel would do in this test compared to a d.i. gun with the same barrel.
I have an Adcor BEAR Elite piston gun with an FN chf / chrome lined barrel, I wonder how it would hold up?
Though the drive rod was showing signs of failure, the piston system ceased to operate because a non piston system part common to a DI system failed (barrel forced piston system out of alignment), so not a piston system failure. I'd be curious to see just how the piston system itself would fail if an adequate barrel was used, though I believe the drive rod is telling us already. I am also curious whos barrels AA is using. That would be an interesting future video, a meltdown challenge of identical cut barrels from different manufacturers. It was also stated that this is an entry level piston system. It would be cool if that difference from higher end systems was emphasized. Great videos! I don't envy your ammo bill!
“Somebody got some bacon??” 😂 🥓😂🥓😂
