Remove the cartridge containing the ceramic parts.
Often limescale and other debris can get caught in the tap causing it to drip or leak.

The music is superb. I didn't watch the video. I just stayed for the music... thanks...
Thank you for this. I was on the point of buying a replacement cartridge when I found your video. It really was an easy job to strip and clean the old one and my mixer tap no longer drips.
Thanks for the video.
Ours has been dripping for a while but now have the confidence to fix it
The same here Daves, you are a Superstar! Our Hero! You saved the day!
Very amazing video, it stopped my tap from dripping! Thank you!
Just done exactly this. Fixed my leaking tap. Thanks man.
Brilliant, thanks worked perfectly.
Slightly different taps, but the innards were the same. Thanks for the help. :)
Thanks. Managed to sort my leaking mixer a after watching this.
Thank you Daves for the lesson..its encourage me to DIY..........
Thank you so much. Worked perfectly!
Thanks for the vid! We didn't know how to access it and just nipped it up a quarter turn and it stopped dripping!
This helped me fix our faucet. Though, I used a different approach because the reason why our faucet is leaking is different from the one on this video + our faucet's handle is a different one. Still, this video is a great help :) Thanks!!!
Thank you so much, saved me a fortune
Thank you for this!
I've just been to toolstation and bought a new pair for £6, leak has stopped 👍
Thanks for this. I'm usually cackhanded at this sort of thing. Worked a treat. Would just query your choice of descaler and that you put your hand in it? I used 50% white vinegar and water.
Worked first go, legend thank you
EXCELLENT SIMPLE SOLUTION VERY NICE
NO LANGUAGE BARRIER
This was helpful.. thanks
Thanks for video... just saved me loads of money from getting a new tap... Happy days😁
Nice one Dave, stopped the missus nagging for a while...
Thank you for this but my taps have no grub screw so how do I remove them please?!
Remove red and blue colour caps at the sides of the taps revealing screws inside.
Good video just make sure you get the correct cartridge as there's a few different sizes with different spindle lengths.
A tiny dab of Lithium grease on the opposing faces of the ceramic parts worked for me.
Many thanks for your Vedio saved the day
I have a leak from the actual tap handle. So do i need to go through this exact same process?
Wow thanks for the tip just want I needed to help me fix my leaky tap 👍
Great little vide
Thanks I’ll need to get a 17mm long socket to get the cartridge out.
@4:04 I thought he was going to drink the remaining descaling fluid
Great, if you already have all the tools and don’t need to fork out for them 😊
So they just need cleaning not replacing. Thanks ❤
Can you remove the cartridge with pliers?
How do you find out which tap is making the drip? Hot or cold?
How do you find out if its the cold water cartridge or the hot water cartridge that needs cleaning or replacing if there's a drip from the faucet?
You could pick the cold or hot inlet (isolator or gate valve) and if the drip stops then that's the tap that needs cleaned. If not it's the other but do the isolator test first to check,
How do you know which cartridge needs cleaning or is it usually the cold? Or pot luck?
Great video! Could I ask a question..our kitchen mixer tap is a similar design to the one in this video, but seems to be leaking from the very base (ie where the chrome sits on the countertop) and not just from the base of the spout. Do you think this can be fixed by replacing the o-rings and/or the tap cartridges, or should I be looking for something else? Many thanks in advance!
Possibly the connectors (threaded ends on the flexible pipe connecting to the water supply) if not maybe inside the tap and a replacment needed...
@@DavesdoorsCoUk Thank you!
Supper ok
1:03 I undid the screw but my mixer tap handle isn't coming off, what now?
Desperately need to know the name of the tool used to remove the tap handle. Someone help please
@@docdelete thank you. Figured it out a bit later. The key hole was a bit inaccessible to take a decent pic and check. Later tried with the different Allens and bingo, one worked
How to remove lever without a locking screw
Thanks for the info, but what were the actual tools you used to unscrew the tap handles and to unscrew the cartridges? Sorry, but I am a beginner to this.
Socket wrench and Allen keys 👍
What size Allen key you used to loosen the tap?
What is the name of the tool you used to open the handle cap??
That's just an alley key
Theres a leak also on my faucet. But only drops. And ive checked my water meter its not rotating.why is that happening? But its is rotating when i really open the faucets
Store the water and sell for profit
What is the tool that you used to take the tap handle off?
A socket wrench
@@DavesdoorsCoUk thank you
And Allen Key
Ok but you should have first said to prepare a glass of water for cleaning if shutting off the water supply at the mains before disassembling the tap 😂
Just tried this, put it all back together and now the tap wont turn off at all! Whoops!
now drips twice as much, thanks a lot...
😘
Hi, thanks for sharing the video. I actually have a very similar tap. How do I find out what size cartridge I'd need?
Also, mine is dripping from the hot side. I have a hot water tank (not combi boiler) how can this be isolated? For the cold side it's just the stop cock, I can see that.
Mine works nothing like this
Don't waste water
Do you get paid by the HOUR!!!!!!!
Bloody hope not!!!!!
So annoying no use to any one
