My tenant just knocked on my door 30 minutes ago with a fairly large leak... I watched this... went to true value and fixed it all in 30 minutes! Thanks for the help! 🙂
I bought a new kitchen faucet because the old one had a sprayer that was no good and I tried to repair the sprayer and couldn't. The sprayer connection to the faucet was very specific...the push to connect type and for some reason I could not buy the sprayer itself and trying to repair the sprayer itself was a nightmare. So I caved in and bought a whole new faucet with a new sprayer. After installing the new faucet, I had this exact problem. Hot water side would leak when fully closed. However, if you turned the hot water control slightly on, it would stop leaking. I did exactly what you did in this video but I pulled the cartridge completely out. I was worried that I wasn't going to get the cartridge back in but I got it and tightened the nut. It fixed the problem! That was all thanks to this very video. A little guidance from people in the know goes a very long way. Thank you a ton!
I learned 2 thing from this video How to fix the leak and clean hard water build up with vinager. Your voice is clear very easy to understand. Very good quality video
I fixed my sink with your help! Considering it's taken my super two+ months to get back to me about my stove hood fan sounding like a machine gun, I went to RUclips instead of him for the sink problem. And RUclips definitely provided, yours was the first recommended video, and I'm glad! I def wish I could give you more than a thumbs up, my man, you saved my sanity! Big thanks!
One in-between step to consider....when you pull the cartridge out there is an o ring on the bottom that may have been compressed too far, letting water pass. Cheaper than a whole cartridge but harder to get the correct size. But if you have an off brand or old faucet the store may not carry the cartridge for it. Just take the o ring or whole cartridge with for sizing.
Thank you! Because of your site, I realized my faucet handles were screwed on too loosely so were inadvertently not being turned off all the way each time. It explained why sometimes it didn't leak & sometimes it did! Thanks again. Had just recently replaced both cartridges!
It worked! Holy smokes! I thought this was going to be a major overhaul and probably mean replacement of this faucet. I live in a house that was built in 1959 and I'm pretty sure the sink and the plumbing are original. If not they're still at least 40 or so years old. It went from a steady drip to now a drip every minute or so. I'm probably still going to need to replace it at some point, but this helps stem the serious waste of water (and my community is under water restrictions right now because of a major forest fire that has wrecked our watershed). Thank you so much for this video!
Had a leaky faucet now for about 2 weeks - got tired of it, and checked You Tube - clicked on your Channel, went back to the kitchen and did what you said. Result: no more dripping (and wasted water), situation restored. Thank you - I was using bottled water to wash my dishes... Thank you very much - things are now so much better because of you. Thanks!
You could have just turned the water off with the valve under the sink when you needed water not use bottled water to wash the dishes sorry but my father taught me many things when I was a young boy .
The vinegar was a good idea. Tightening it didn’t work. I’m took apart the cartridge and let it soak in vinegar for 10 minutes. Put it back together and it works now. Thanks
Thank you!! Had a plumber in a while back and After that it’s been leaking-I’m thinking he didn’t tighten that enough!!! If that hadn’t happened here I would have never known that it could be just tightening something! Thank you so much
Thank you so much you saved me at a minimum $75 for the cheaper kind of faucet such as you showed on your website I had the same kind of faucet which my wife prefers to the single handle type and figured I'd have to buy a new one but thought I would try the RUclips to see if there was a repair it was so easy my problem was I hadn't been able to spot that little allen wrench socket underneath the actual turning part of the faucet and so when I did and unscrewed it I had a slightly different type of set up than you have but it was still so easy a 1-minute fix as you had said and I had it all back together again in no time and not a single leak and I thank you from the bottom of my heart and after reading some of the mean comments that you got I just can't believe what this world is coming to the type of people we have in here and you are certainly amazing and and the like one of the commenters said you have them a clear voice a very good video and it was excellent thank you so much
That hex shaped thingy (often called an Allen screw) will be lost down the drain unless you put the stoppers in both drains or cover them with dishrags. And it's best to turn off both water feeds.
On my case I felt around inside ring where cartridge seats. There was a burr maybe water deposit, even felt like metal. I used a standard head screwdriver to smooth out around inside ring. Replaced everything, took off screen so whatever I knocked off would clean out. All worked, no leak. Good video
Thanks! I do this every couple of years but I always ck videos to refresh my memory. Last time I just installed a new faucet but it's leaking again after 4-5 yrs.
Thank you so much, you were right, just tightening that outer nut stopped the leak! And I was glad I got away without having to replace the whole cartridge... that saved me from having to turn the water off underneath, which was great because some of those old valves under there sometimes leak after messing with them.
While I was able to get the handle and lug nut off, I can't get the cartridge out. It's really stuck. And now I can't get the handle back on. But glad your vid seems to have helped others.
Love this video, it's easy to follow. I was able to remove the screw with the Allen Wrench. My faucet looks the same as the one shown but the handle is not coming off. Any ideas?
Thank you so much from a woman who likes plumbing, hooked up a commercial sink. Once hooked up there was a leaky faucet. Fixed it in no time thanks to you.
I have the same faucet and was.wondering if.the aerator can be replaced? The water pressure is low and thinking replacement would help but I can't loosen it and wondering if.its welded on and can't be changed out.
My bathroom sink has been dripping for ages. On my tap, there’s a cap with a Philips head screw to remove it, but it should be the same under that. Going to take care of it after work today!
Hahaha! I got it right the first time. My husband couldn't believe it cause he always says, "those RUclipsrs don't know shit"... fucker! Thanks for sharing.
If you're going to take out the cartridge, then yes, you have to turn off the water or it'll shoot up. But if you are ONLY going to take off the faucet HANDLE to tighten that nut only, no need to turn it off.
I love this tutorial... But my screws are rusted on and broken, and my water was still coming through after turning the water off from below the sink... I think it's time to replace
Great video! My bathroom Faucet, the hot water handle to close is counterclockwise , while the cold water handle is clockwise to turn off.... Is this right?
Thank you - I changed my aerator in my bathroom faucet. Now there is a bit of (small) leak of water when I run the faucet. It wasn't doing this before I changed the aerator? Thank you!
Not a good idea to use pliers to unscrew the bolt. The teeth can damage the nut since it's soft brass. Better to use a crescent wrench and best, an open-end wrench of the proper size.
I came to the comments for this. If anybody takes anything from this video, it should be this person’s comment. Stripped, brass plumbing fittings will turn an easy job into a not so fun one.
Not everyone HS an open end wrench of the proper size. He actually showed some good information that was useful. Starting your comment off “not a good idea to” isn’t a good idea to do (see what I did there). Don’t be a tool. Dude is helping people. Try “a helpful reminder to use xyz if you have them handy and beware if yada yada” instead of your douche comment.
at 2:03 you talk about the tiny little piece that you shouldn’t lose. however this piece was missing when i tried to take the handle off, what is the tiny piece called?
My faucet only drips... An annoying plop, plop every 10 minutes or so. I know that I need to clean the hard water build up because the faucet is getting a bit harder to move around. Could the slow drip be the same problem, not screwed tight enough?? Thanx
I can't tell if my slow leak is hot or cold water because I do not have a hot and cold water shut off near my sink. is there another way to figure it out?
I have the same faucet and wrench but none of them are the right size to take out the pin. I've tried multiple sets with no luck. Looks like a new faucet is in order.
That’s my faucet 😂need to go get drain covers from the garage ‘cause I would so drop that little bitty screw. Can’t wait to see if it fixes it, it’s a slow water torture going in in my house
Theres a leak also on my faucet. But only drops. And ive checked my water meter its not rotating.why is that happening? But its is rotating when i really open the faucets
Thank you I'll try to fix this myself , it looks pretty easy thank you for making this video ...from the guy Bette Midler rubbed her feet so close too..... ..
I live in an apartment building where the main or gate valve to temporarily stop water flow is located in the owners flat so I cannot just turn the water valve off and on
My tenant just knocked on my door 30 minutes ago with a fairly large leak... I watched this... went to true value and fixed it all in 30 minutes! Thanks for the help! 🙂
Knock knock sir I have a leak again
Thank you sooooooo much!!!❤❤

You could always cast one in plastic and then use that to cast new rubber ones in the future yourself :)
Thank you! Because of your site, I realized my faucet handles were screwed on too loosely so were inadvertently not being turned off all the way each time. It explained why sometimes it didn't leak & sometimes it did! Thanks again. Had just recently replaced both cartridges!

Sweeeeeet. :)

Are you joking what was wrong with the faucet valve.? He did not mention that
Life Guy, thank you so much...I fixed my running facet in 5 mins and you saved me a service call...Thank You.
You're welcome! Glad it was helpful.
Great video!! I follow the steps to check my leaking faucet cartridge before going to the store, just tightened and leak is gone.
That hex shaped thingy (often called an Allen screw) will be lost down the drain unless you put the stoppers in both drains or cover them with dishrags. And it's best to turn off both water feeds.
Can confirm. Just turned my kitchen into a slip n slide on accident😂
First rule of plumbing is to turn off the water before grabbing any tools haha
I always put a towel flat in the sinks just so I don't lose parts down the drain. The one minute fix will turn into 2 hours knowing me.
This helped me so much. No broken parts just needed to be tightened inside. Thank you!
Well I spoke too soon. It was leaking from under the handle and now it's leaking from the faucet... ugh
This worked so well! I just wiped down the area under the know rhen reseated the o ring and it's not leaking anymore. Thanks!
OMG, I have a leaky faucet exactly like this too. I'm gonna give this a try. Thank you so much for the instruction video. It's super-helpful.
Did it work? 😮
Did it work for you?
Mine is leaking from the spelt!
@@kakashi392I will get back to you if it works okay you can be sure of that! 😂
I suggest a wrench vice pliers as the brass fittings are sensitive
thanks for the insight!
Thank you so much, you were right, just tightening that outer nut stopped the leak!
And I was glad I got away without having to replace the whole cartridge... that saved me from having to turn the water off underneath, which was great because some of those old valves under there sometimes leak after messing with them.
Thank you so much. My faucet have been dropping for a while. I am going to do this to my kitchen faucet.
While I was able to get the handle and lug nut off, I can't get the cartridge out. It's really stuck. And now I can't get the handle back on. But glad your vid seems to have helped others.
Perfect. Took me less than 10 minutes to fix my issue! Thank you!
This is an amazing video!! I had no idea it was that easy and I can't wait to try it in my my kitchen Thank you so much for making the video
thank you!
Thank you! Your video helped me fix my faucet and save me from buying a new one! 👏🏻👏🏻
Talk about saving money thanks homie
I'm heading into the kitchen right now! Thanks so much for posting!
Love this video, it's easy to follow. I was able to remove the screw with the Allen Wrench. My faucet looks the same as the one shown but the handle is not coming off. Any ideas?
Awesome sauce! Mines been dripping slowly for a while. Thanks so very much!!!
Thank you. I haven't done this in years and this reminded me of the steps.
Thank you so much from a woman who likes plumbing, hooked up a commercial sink. Once hooked up there was a leaky faucet. Fixed it in no time thanks to you.
Thank you so much for this. You taught me so much and now it's fixed. God speed.❤
Thanks dude saved me a trip to the hardware store just tighten it up and it stopped the leak
thanks for helping me fix a leaky faucet twice!
Great video. Very helpful and informative to someone that has never done this.
Thank you for sharing this video! I'm hoping my leaky faucet will be this simple of a fix lol 😊
Thank you for the quick fix and easy to follow video! Worked like a charm!
Glad it helped!
Worked for me. Saved me from replacing the whole faucet.
I have the same faucet and was.wondering if.the aerator can be replaced? The water pressure is low and thinking replacement would help but I can't loosen it and wondering if.its welded on and can't be changed out.

Thanks I've been putting this off for months, thought it would be a major pain. Much appreciated
My faucet leaked bad so I replaced it, but the old one was this exact unit, so they stink after 4 years or so.
Nice electric outlet placement. Genius!
yeah, our home has a few quirks :) Hasn't caused any issues yet
My 1984 build has the outlet there too for the food disposal
around 4:30, I don't understand what you did to reposition the handle. How and what did you adjust?
Hahaha! I got it right the first time. My husband couldn't believe it cause he always says, "those RUclipsrs don't know shit"... fucker! Thanks for sharing.
Great vid!!!! Do i have to turn off water to do the repair?
If you're going to take out the cartridge, then yes, you have to turn off the water or it'll shoot up. But if you are ONLY going to take off the faucet HANDLE to tighten that nut only, no need to turn it off.
Worked! and made me feel empowered. thank you
It about power

Great. Just what I needed. So how do I know which handle to tighten? Thank you
He did fine. Helped me out perfectly. Thanks for the help. Fixed my tap with your advice.
Thanks man this worked out and saved me some cash !
Great to hear!
Thanks bro. Saved me $100 and saved me from angry wife as well.
Channel Locks are expensive but incredibly handy tool for doing valves. Slip lock might work but it will make you appreciate better tool.
Does it work on wall mount faucets? New to all this and need mine repaired
This helped me right away, did it in less than 3 mins!!! Thank you
I love this tutorial... But my screws are rusted on and broken, and my water was still coming through after turning the water off from below the sink... I think it's time to replace
Mine doesn't have the Allen nut. I took off red plastic to reveal a perfectly round hole. No nut. Any easy suggestions?
You know what you are talking about for sure and I like that
you have any video for one main faucett the one middle faucett theirs only one in my home not 3
Thanks!!! Been dealing with that annoying kitchen drip for months, I just fixed it literarily in under a minute.

Thank you your video helped 100% I was able to fix it today and saved alot of money 💰 🤗
I have a different kind of faucet and I am wondering if it is the same technique I can use
Worked like a charm! Thank you!

Is this fix only for kitchen faucet? Will it work for the bathroom faucets?

What if after I've taken the hex screw out, I can't get the handles off? The entire base is loose but the handles won't budge! Help.

Well done...a major problem has occurred even with professional plumbers when a line is ruptured in the "fix".
I’m a single mom. This was a gawd send!! Tyty!
Please share: What about the U shaped pipe in the middle. I have leak from that
You make it look easy.

I fixed mine by spraying some silicone on the cartridge.
My faucet doesn’t have the little hole for the Allen wrench to remove the handle .. ugh 😩 what now 🤷♀️🤷♀️
Added this video to my newsletter I send weekly to our database. We are realtors in WV. Good video
I tightened the nut now I dont have cold water. Any idea? I turned the cold water back on.
What if it was the cold (right) water side one ?
My handles don’t have Allen screw. They actually have nothing. How do I can’t this off?
