*Sigh* This was so hard to watch. I wish Lorelai had been brave enough to communicate all of her concerns regarding April and the wedding to Luke in that last scene. It pains me to admit it, but they seriously needed a break from each other so Luke could realize how much he'd been taking her for granted.
I hated Luke on this episode, he was such a jerk to Logan the entire time but had no problem taking Logan's expensive present and present it as his own!
As much as I hate the way the writers wrote Luke in this episode (and pretty much the whole tail end of this season) I always love their conversation at the end, because we finally hear an “I love you” from one of them and it gave me hope that these two could fix things if Lorelai opened up more and Luke actually listened. I hate that the writers had to make April something bad for the couple instead of making them bond over both having kids and just grow stronger from the whole experience.
you can see the crave in lorelai's eyes when rory got her gift. while yes she is respecting luke's ways of not gettting a gift she still wants it just because
And he always had something nice for Rory on every occasion. What i wonder is, was this stuff fake that Logan gave up so easily and if it was real, will.Luke pay for it and if so, can he afford it?
Since everyone is bashing Luke I just want to mention the one quote I really like "I love you, and we are getting married, and at our wedding we are having lobster." I really wish they said I love you to each other more often.

Everyone seems to be forgetting that when Lorelai and Rory weren't speaking, Luke was happy to indefinitely wait to set a date for the wedding. He understood it wasn't about him. Now that April is in Luke's life, Lorelai can't afford him the same patience and understanding? It's a double standard.
There is a biased pro Lorelai kind of justice. If she and Rory are separate then Luke has to wait, but if it's Luke who needs some time, then Luke is seen as evil and unjust.
I think the issue is Luke is just asking for time. Its not specific. Its vague and there isnt a clear end in sight. With Lorelei she made it clear. When things with rory are better. Its not a set date but its an end goal. Its also only a single hurdle. One thing fixed and done where as Lukes thing is when it calms down, when things have settled, when its right, once Im closer with April which could easily become excuses that are dragged out for years if not decades. We always here people bemoan that they waited too long it needed to be a better time or when things are less stressful but something always came up and so a thing never happened. Heck its a whole thing in the movie up with their goal of going to south America.
Lorelai was completely honest about what she needed and what was going on. Luke wasn't. Luke first didn't tell her that April even existed, right after they promised no secrets. He shut her entirely out of the situation. Lorelai never did that with the Rory situation. And even here, Luke's lying about that freaking necklace and complaining about Logan, who had been nothing but nice to him (and I don't even like Logan). I love Luke's character to death, but season 6 Luke is just a whole, awful disaster. He wanted Lorelai for years, pining after her...and then he's acting like this when they're engaged? Why any fan of Luke would defend this version of him is beyond me...
Luke is unjust as he's not being honest he admits to using April as an excuse as he wasn't ready for marriage. How hard is it to say I'm not ready for marriage lorelai let's just date like we are. I think had he been honest things would have been different but the thing with lorelai and luke is they have always been crap when it comes to communicating their feelings and thoughts when in a relationship.
@@bettersecret1499 cause she did that in the next 10 years...oh wait, she is with him in the revival, while they both cheat on their public relationships.
The writing really wasn’t great for Luke for this storyline. They gave him no awareness of Lorelai’s feelings - this episode, in particular, makes me harken back to that quote, “I’m grumpy about stuff but I don’t want you to be.” It just felt off.
Luke is an a$$hat. He couldn't buy smth inexpensive and symbolic Lorelei would have greatly appreciated???? Those are diamonds. I doubt she really likes the gift that she figured out Logan bought for Rory.
For the first time i realised that Luke wanst the rigth person for Lorelai. Emily was right, she had great potencial and he just made her get stuck in the same place for years (watch the revival and will see)

I was asking myself if they ever had tell to each other "I Love you". 🤔I didn't remember at all.
That is just so well said - especially how April could have make them bond even more...
This hurt so much to watch 🥺

It was really out of character for Luke to not think to get anything for Lorelai. This is supposedly the woman he’s been pining after for 9 years...

@@knowledge1972 it wasn't fake... Logan got it he's rich and can afford stuff like that. I'd doubt he'd get something fake for his GF
Well lorelai didn't give him anything either
@@dcpurplee I think that's because luke isn't into Valentines day so for thst reason even lorelai doesn't make a big deal out of It

“The Ones”
the “i love you” is the only redeeming part of this episode

They had already set a date and planned and invited for an entire wedding. It’s asking way more to cancel that
Luke and lorelai at the end of this episode is my favorite scene in the whole show

Logan was the one but she didn’t want to marry him?
.... I’m not gonna say anything.
I mean, they were my favorite pairing (other than L&L), but she was so young. I think it could’ve worked out, but it was really her decision. :/
What about HE didn't want to wait for her? If someone force you in an all or nothing situation for no real reason..FIND SOMEONE ELSE

She said "could be" the one.
She did not want to move to California...she offered to do long distance again but he said no.
Luke should refund Logan for the cost of the necklace
Luke could have just said he forgot his gift back home. Darn

But I love the "what?" with a sass and attitude 🤣
