Yeah I think they screwed up her character too...but at the same time, I think the "angels do fall" has some truth to it. It was more realistic to make her imperfect and make imperfect choices.
@@hellostephanie You are correct there, but I don't think they did the character of Rory justice with how they had her fall and make her mistakes. From what I remember watching, even when she made mistakes, Rory felt like she hadn't messed up and never really seemed to learn from them after a certain point. It's like the writers didn't know how to write for a young adult woman all of a sudden.
@@hellostephanie 100%! I didn't watch the reboot series they did a few years back, but I heard some things about Rory from it and I was like, "she still hasn't grown up?"
Lorelai bad habits of getting involved in Rory's love life are ludicrous. It is mind-boggling to me, that this grown woman, is ready to just jump on Dean (a teenager, might I add), without any context, and basically blaming him for a relationship gone wrong. It takes two to tango in a relationship!!! Second, Rory trajectory wasn't a surprise. Everyone kept putting her on a pedestal for everything she did. At the end, it's not insane to think that all these comments went to her head. When people keep telling you constantly that you're great and that you can't do no wrong, you finally believe it! This is the most evident in the episode where Rory get's arrested. Rory tells her mother that she's responsible. But, Lorelai, being completely in awe over Rory, can't fathom the fact that her daughter could be responsible!
That’s the most fictional part of the entire show, that a guy like Dean would ever become that hung up on a girl like Rory who lacks consistency, warmth & gratitude
@@Luvspersona I’d say bad writing on that but I actually loved the drama when I watched it for the first time. It was bad writing afterwards because Deans & Rory’s characters could have grown so much from that mistake, but it was just the beginning of the downward spiral
@@Luvspersona he was wasted saying her name day before the wedding. What is unbelievable is nobody stopped the dumb heartbroken kid from marrying the rebound.
Exactly. Lorelai didn’t let Lindsay’s mother confront 19-year-old Rory about sleeping with married Dean. But confronting a younger teenager in their workplace is acceptable? 😮
"But I was wrong and I hate to be wrong". That is Lorelai in a nutshell. She needed to be right and needed to have things her way-period. That is why she was such a spiteful & rebellious teenager. Lorelai was spoiled, impulsive and downright mean at times, like this clip shows. Dean was a teenager she was bullying, for goodness sake! And when Rory decided to quit school & not follow the plan her mother had for her, Lorelai treated her the same terrible way she treated her parents. Plus, Lorelai's commitment issues were hers & hers alone, not something she could blame on her parents-and Rory turned out to be the same way. As much as I liked Logan, Rory being the other woman with him (as she had done with Dean) was just so wrong and not in line who she was raised to be, proving that like Lorelai, Rory followed her path, not the one laid out by her parents. Full circle.
This reads like a prophecy now that we have the whole series and the revival. Rory never did have functional relationships. Also, Taylor aged like fine wine.
Okay, no Lorelai should not be yelling at him especially in his place of work, but to answer Dean's question. Yeah you're the bad guy! You want a 16 year old girl who's never had a boyfriend or been kissed by anyone else before to tell you she loves you after 3 MONTHS? And when she doesn't and just sits there stunned, you break up with her? Yeah. That's being a bad guy! Dean's had other relationships, at least one prior serious relationship as reported by Lane, but Dean was the first time Rory even thought about boys. So of course she's not going to be ready to say that yet. The more I watch this show, the more massive red flags jump out where Dean is concerned.
Lorelai gives Rory that whole speech about being open to say "I love you." But she didn’t ask her if she does love him. Maybe she didn’t say it because she didn't feel it! It doesn’t mean she is emotionally stunted just because she isn't in love with her first boyfriend.
I just watched this a few mins ago and came to YT to vent. Oh my god, I felt like punching both Rory and Lorelai. Rory for being a bratty teen with no accountability and of course Lorelai for being responsible for a huge part of that. She always acts as though she was such a poor victim. No, Emily was far from perfect as a mother but Lorelai was no less as a daughter.
I loved how Lorelai confronted Dean in the supermarket that was so badass. Also she has the sexiest jeans on too. Also it is nice that Rory has a rich grandparents house to run to, I would stay there.
@@rayanog Oh stop it. That is not even a real thing in the medical community, just another way for someone to demand an accommodation because they want things their way. That term was created by the helicopter parent generation raised to never take responsibility for anything. Grow the heck up.

I felt really bad for Dean at this point first Luke and then Lorelia at his work place. Also hes only 16
Anyone else rewatch this and think - wow, they really screwed up Rory's character as she got older.
Same I literally stopped enjoying Rory beginning season 5. AYITL was horrible especially for Rory's story.

Her mother really spoiled Rory. Rory, let's face it, is not so fantastic and smart and special. She's average. Paris, on the other hand....
