The new writers did a better job writing Luke in season 7 than ASP did in season 6, that’s for sure. Part of me likes to pretended that he was abducted by aliens during at the 2nd half of season 6.
And the other 90% of times they're immature and childish. Realistically, people are always on maximum of their emotional capacity. Pain makes people regress and her parents are the best to begin with. She just wanted them to acknowledge her loss and maybe to hug her. She's always forced to joke and pretend she's fine because there's no warmth in her parents. Being an adult is about dealing with mistakes you make because everybody does them. You're not always mature, emotions cloud your judgment and emotional deprivation makes you behave childish. The actual maturity is to deal with it anytime you're weaker, and you can't say Lorelai is bitter or distant.
Really exemplifies just how bad Emily and Richard were as parents. They couldn't have handled it worse unless they'd laughed directly into her face and it genuinely comes off as them simply not giving a shit about their daughter's happiness.

Yall be mad at Richard and Emily for dismissing the subject of Lorelai and Luke’s break up like yall dont know Lorelai. No matter what Richard and Emily would say, Lorelai would react anyhow. They chose silence bcs they’ve accepted the fact that whatever they say about the relationship Lorelai would react badly, just like when Rory chose Yale, Richard and Emily stayed silent hearing the news bcs they knew Lorelai would react horrible to whatever they say. Even Rory knew Lorelai was at the wrong.
I know R & E would annoy Lorelai with whatever they had to say, but they always bring things back to money, and it is so superficial. Who cares about money when your heart is broken

When they don't give her the reaction she wants she pouts and uses as an excuse to hate her parents. She did this with Max and with Luke. The irony was she got the response she wanted when she broke it off with Christopher. I know thay her parents aren't the best communicators, but you can tell they do love her and want the best for her. It's Loerlai that's the immature one that kept her parents at arms length and put them through Hell for really no reason. And you wonder why Loerlai doesn't have a good relationship with her partners.

I got annoyed with Emily when she had that little girl makes drinks for everyone lets yells at her for not putting extra ice in the glass. I would have thrown the drink on here.
Seeing Luke and Rory act slightly awkward because of the break up is a little sad because of how much he'd been around her growing up :(
