Luke has become defacto Dad-man/big brother to every young man in town. Kirk, Zack, Dean (before he became over-protective of Rory). Even his brother in law.

i hate how they ruined him. luke loved camping and fishing. then they had an episode where they made it seem like luke hated camping because lorelai wasn't there 🙄🙄🙄 as if luke's sole purpose is to please lorelai and only enjoy things with her. worst of all, he's wanted lorelai for years, but as soon as stupid april comes into the picture, he _suddenly_ thinks it's too soon to walk down the aisle. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
I despise how they handled this April thing. I hated how much they tried to make Anna a Lorelai light and April a Rpry light, it just made the audience hate the whole thing even more.
no they didn't they did break up in season 6. I think Sookie and Jackson did they didn't break up or seperates like Lane and Zach and Richard and Emily. but in the lone run it was Emily and Richard.
Why though? The only thing that sucked about the character is that she is used as a plot device to cause a massive rift to the relationship of luke and lorelai and she as a person had absolutely nothing to do about that. It was luke and lorelai’ poor communication that screwed them up. Her character’s personality aint that bad. She is a geek who warms up really quickly to his recently discovered father. I think that is nice. And hey luke and lorelai did get back together soon after and the april character added luke’s paternal instinct (well after rory).
I think that it's nice that finally, Luke was ready for Lorelai's advice on April.

Luke loved April and Rory with all his heart. And no one ever understood.
