Jess and Emily were the only characters in AYITL who got to keep their recognisable traits but were given believable development over a nine-year period alongside those traits. All the other characters were either written way off-kilter, stuck in 2007, regressed to 2006, or a combination of the three. We all know ASP had the talent to give áll the characters the Jess/Emily treatment but she was too stubborn, cynical, and angry to let go of her misanthropist vision or to build off of the repairs carried out by the season 7 writers. Hence, the mess that was AYITL. Eternal pity.
I love how when life goes buttside up on Luke *(again)* ,Jess is sitting quietly in the background reading his book. It's a nice little parallel to Lorelai and Rory.
The whole “Rande Gerber hot” exchange between Jess and Luke, and then repeated between Jess, Lorelai and Luke just proves how far Jess and Lorelai have come - I always thought one of the big reasons they didn’t get along in the original series was because they were/are so similar. Similar quick wit, similar snarkiness, similar rebelliousness….I think Lorelai saw too much of herself as a teenager in Jess and she worried what that might mean for Rory. I think as time went on she was able to see that Jess did exactly as she had - made the best of whatever life dealt. Jess’ character definitely had the most growth over the course of the show. Doesn’t hurt that Milo can still 100% bring that ✨Jess Vibe✨ at a moment’s notice 😍😍😍😍 most beautiful man!!!
I wish they would have done more stories with the other characters instead of just focusing on Rory I wanted to see more of Luke and Jess, Sookie and Lane
Even though lorelai and Emily didn’t get along so well she was so quick to give lorelai that money despit all the crap they give each other they still love each other
So glad that Jess is Luke's nephew. Otherwise, Rory would be Jess's stepsister after the wedding. Maybe there's hope after all for those two. It would be nice if Loralai and Jess would have a talk and get along better. Maybe just too much bad history there. One can hope.
I was just at the scene where Emily is upset finding out Rory and Lorelei chose living in a shed over her bc she was so over bearing. Someone said it’s messed up that that plot didn’t change Emily so she could have a better relationship with her daughter. I think this scene and a lot of the other parts of the entire show proves that to be wrong. Go back and watch the first asking for money scene and tell me Emily hasn’t had significant character development. Idk how you can’t see it.
Maybe except jess she was the one with most character development (considering her age) and I’m happy that she got a second chance to be a mother and grandmother, maybe to random people but still its good to see her doing all those mother/grandmother stuff
Oh my goodness, it just hit me that the reason Luke is freaking out about Lorelai seeing him before the wedding is because Lorelai waved that superstition aside when they almost got married in the original series. He saw her in her wedding dress, and disaster followed---which was actually fully the fault of the two of them mismanaging everything that had been going on around them at the time, but still. Luke swallowed his misgivings about seeing Lorelai in the dress back then, so he's being adamant about it now.
The sad thing to me about the whole series was that Emily and Richard never excepted Luke. It was all about status with them. The family name and how much money he had. To them he was just a man who ran a diner. Not how much he loved their daughter and granddaughter. Rory was always like a daughter to him. Especially when they were in the Mall in the original series Rory saying he never forgot her birthday and the holidays.
"You guys just pretended to leave and sitting there, eating, right!?" "No..." :D He knows his girls so well, the resignation on his face is just hilarious :D
Because she thinks that Lorelei doesn’t want to spend time with her and and maybe that would’ve been true in the earlier seasons but I feel after while and especially in the revival they got along a bit better other than the therapy sessions, like for example the scene so I feel like if Emily just asked her to come to UNTUCKit she wouldn’t of said anything about it
What is even this show?? The actors look like they don't want to be there, saying those unfunny boring lines to eachother. 😂😂😂😂😂 Lorelei isn't Lorelei. Rory is even worse than I remember her. Paris lost her spunk. They all sound robotic.
My favorite part about this is the fact that Jess is still sarcastic and snarky even though it’s very clear he has also matured significantly.
He is a delight here.
@Marley Hampton Male lorelai. Charming, witty, intelligent, strong-willed but cares a lot. Past his teenage angst phase they even get a long here!
Well he does have triplets and married to Mandy Moore
❤ Jess, I prefer him for Rory instead of Logan 🙄

I love the parallel between Lorelei needing money and Emily saying what Richard said.
"so close"
I liked that
You need money

"yeah what if we were naked!" not jess being the male lorelai 😂😂
🤣🤣
Loralai had such a hard time liking Jess because she WAS JESS as a kid 😂
Yes😂
My feelings exactly, they never got along because they had the same personality and constantly butt heads which made for interesting dialogue
Emily was my favourite resolution in the show. I love how her life ended up, even if it’s not how she imagined.
I adore Kirk. He really has a special place in the story.
“Yeah, what if we were naked?”
Still a legend lol

If we ever do a second season, I DEMAND Lorelai and Jess get a scene. She blew him a kiss!!! That is a relationship we need to see and grow closer.
No she didn’t lol where did you see that? She ate a pop tart
@@rileybear836 lorelai & luke (488) :12 seconds
@@dietdrpepper15 oh a different video

Really I totally missed that…so she forgave him. That’s good…so only Emily has a problem with Jess.

Yea and they could have done a lot better with Rory.
The story isn't about them
@@lauriecarson6483 should have been
They ruined rory. Lane I can't believe they had her working in the antique shop. She should be famous now.
This
can we stop pretending that Jess isn’t the hottest man in the whole wide world
RIGHT
Yes!!!
Noooo
Noo
No because i am.
clever how the dialogue is a total throwback to when lorelai asked for rory's tuition fees
"never pegged Luke as a traditionalist" I'm sorry have either of you met Luke? He is extremely traditional.
Right! I never understood how they were surprised by that!
No he’s no. He stood up for Native Americans every thanksgiving.
Milo's arms tho 😍
I was thinking the same!! I couldn't concentrate on anything else but Milo's arms, like, damn he's hot
and the bum.... he didnt had that when he was a teenager... haha
@@rodrigorodrigo1230 True. Never noticed it before.
I love that Luke knows them well enough to know that they didn’t actually leave. 🤣

Actually the money was Lukes.
she uses money to manipulate her. money is power. it's the only thing she can use to control her.
Ah, Milo! 😍

Lorelai and Jess got alone pretty good in this clip. It's far cry from how they started.
they're still kind of related
Step-cousin
that is still too odd for me to ship them
Jess and Rory would be step cousins.
God bless Milo for getting the Jess role!! Nobody else could have played Jess. Perfection 👌
the scene of luke in his tux in the living room is the best scene of the revival

@Mercy she probably told Luke after she went home. And who is Luke going to spend Christmas with.
Haha did anyone else notice how Jess is just sitting in the back chilling, not looking up then Rory enters and he looks up to see her ❤
Was just going to comment this. ❤
I love Jess casually sitting there, reading a book and being sarcastic.😀

I was so happy that Kirk helped with the wedding…lol
Jess is the Best ... he’s my favorite !!
Agreed!!
all she wanted was time...with her child
And she got what she wanted.
His humor is still alive and that voice OMG
if kirks not the best character- idk who is
He never fails to do something so stupid and make me laugh
Jess is going to be Rory's Luke

Why didn’t Emily just come out and say that she wanted to spend time with lorelai instead she keeps using money as a condition

Cause Emily likes to quilt trip Lorelai into doing what she wants.
Cause that's how Emily is she cant do anything nice without strings attached.
Does anyone remember Emily suggesting Lorelai to expand the Inn into a Spa in the last episode of the show?
Thank you Milo for playing such a big role in my gay awakening.
Emily's place isn't the same without the classical music playing in the background
Did Jess come out the Marines? lol
I really think Jess can take Dean now 😂, in case the miss Rory again lol

Omg I love this scene
Wow, Lorelei and Emily getting along.
rory’s voice is sooo different
A lot can happen in 10 years or so voices change
What if we were naked (don’t say that)
oh no, a big monetary loan AND essentially guaranteed paid vacation in Nantucket in the summer. how hoooorrrrible
Well tbh Lorelai knows how Emily is so you can't blame her for putting her quard uo when it comes to borrowing money from her mom.
Is he wearing a tupee?
The lighting in this scene makes Scott's hair piece look very bad.
God bless you all :)
I realised I didn't like this guy I was talking to because I fell in love with jess

What is going on with Luke's hair...it's fake
