I thought it was really nice of Emily and Richard to want to gift a house to Lorelai and Luke even though they weren't too keen on Luke as a partner for Lorelai.
I agree. And I don't think it's a coincidence that they chose a property with a small fishing hole... It's even nicer when you realize Emily never even drew attention to it. The thought wasn't just a pat-on-the-back for herself or something she thought she should dangle to make it sound more appealing. The fact that it's just breezed over really makes me think it was a genuine attempt to make this house perfect for Lorelai AND Luke. ♥
@@EmphaticNod thats what makes it so tragic. Right when the Gilmores are finally on board to just be fully supportive, that's when Lorelai's relationship falls apart.
I think it's funny they buy Chris and Lorelai a painting for their marriage. But when Luke and Lorelai was engaged they wanted to buy a house for them.
Emily really is at her best here. So thoughtful. She may not relate to Lorelai very well, but she has clearly been attentive to her desires and opinions over the years.
Emily was really trying to show Lorelai she accepted her choices here. I think I cried more at this scene than when Luke and Lorelai actually broke up.
Yes, and they set up this whole episode of her being insufferable and her and Richard looking for houses in Stars Hollow so that when Lorelai says what’s in her mind, she finally empathizes and doesn’t immediately judge her daughter.
Five bedrooms. One for Luke and Lorelai, one for Rory, one for April, and one for each of the twins they could have had. Oh my god, this breaks my heart. (Though, if I'm being honest, if they were going to move to a larger house, I personally would have liked it to have been the Twickham house that Luke always wanted to live in.)
Every time I see one of these scenes I think of how Lorelei couldn't bring herself to think of one nice memory of something her father had ever done for her at his funeral
"Ive had the headache for 38 years." There is a lot of love under that banter and the writing is top notch...banter and sarcasm that are well done is hard to write
Rompe el corazón ver a "lorelai" tan triste, sus padres tienen un buen gesto con querer darles una casa, pero el idiota de "luke",sigue haciendo mal las cosas.
At this point, Lorelai is the one squarely avoiding Luke, not the other way around. There's zero on-screen interaction between them from the phone call at the beginning of this episode, and Lorelai's impassioned elope plea at the end of the next episode. This as a result of Lorelai pretending she has a meeting when she doesn't, and then pretending she's not home when Luke shows up unannounced. All of this, following when she met Anna at her shop and reassured her "we're engaged, we're legit" and Anna still wasn't sold. From that moment up until when they finally meet on-screen again, what has Luke done that justifies Lorelai's self-destructive behavior? It's like she let Anna talk herself into believing things would fall apart, and that's exactly what she allowed to do. She couldn't be surprised that she avoided Luke every chance she got for days, and then suddenly shows up at his diner, unloads a ton of pent-up emotion on him, and then gets mad when he wasn't able to immediately process all of that. Luke had his blame for not talking about April to begin with, but that's also out in the open for a while now by this point, Lorelai has met her and thrown a birthday party for her (unauthorized, of course, as she hears about later), and *then* everything that I described happens from there. So I have little sympathy for Lorelai here. She self-destructed.
What happened to Luke and Lorelei to break them up? Emily can be overbearing to the point of being dominating and difficult to be around BUT peel back a layer because there is a lot of love behind everything they do and say. Its a shame that sometimes people break...and they are too weak to be able to handle strong personalities especially strong personalities that are loved ones. As far as Lorelei, what is wrong with her...why can she not cry in front of her mother...why cant she (with everything Lorelei has gone thru in her life) for once let her mother....mother her. Honestly, Im not sure who I want to slap more....the character Lorelei or the writer of the character Palladino
Palladino...thats an Italian name. Im baflled how an Italian could write characters that are so emotionally incapable of expressing and sharing their emotions especially with their parents.

Save for her choice of romantic partners.
This is so generous of Emily to want to give lauralie and Luke a new home for a wedding present 🎁 😊. It's an awesome jesture.wonderful gift 🎁.

"Don't forget to lock the door, I'm leaving my Bananas here." 😂
... classic Emily
finally Emily accepting Luke as Lorelai's almost husband gives me some kind of satisfaction.
"if you have children...."
Emily is so sweet here
I love these rare, sweet moments between Emily and Lorelai.
"you can put me on an iceberg and float me out to sea" EMILY'S SARCASM OOF
Just realized, Lorelai got that from her mom. "I've had it [the headache] for 38 years." while motioning to her mom.
That's what I tell my mother in law and to my mom.
This was so sweet of Emily.
"oh no it's ok I've had the headache for 38 years" lol Lorelai
Not even being blind can stop Emily Gilmore 😅
“Lorelai? are you breathing?”
😂😂
Gotta love Emily!

"But I have no interest in talking to a neighbor walk in with a pie in the hand wanting to chat. I will kill myself and the neighbor!" Emily ❤🤣
When hearing that line, I instantly picture Babette.
One of my favorite Emily and Lorelai moments
Every time I see one of these scenes I think of how Lorelei couldn't bring herself to think of one nice memory of something her father had ever done for her at his funeral
Golly, that house sounds amazing.
"Ive had the headache for 38 years." There is a lot of love under that banter and the writing is top notch...banter and sarcasm that are well done is hard to write
This was so sweet of Emily
It really was! She even checked how long it would take to get to and from the inn AND the diner!
😢 its not gonna happen
"dont forget to lock the doors im leaving my bananas here" 😂
Thank you!!! More please
Have you notice Emily and Richard wanted to buy a house for Luke and Lorelai. And they only bought Wolf Girl picture for Chris and Lorelai.
Emily is so sweet here ❤ when she and Richard were in Stars Hollow I thought right away it was for Lorelai. They would have no interest living there.
who says that "lock the door Im leaving my bananas in the car"...thats funny and sarcastic
This is how she should have talk to her

If you grease the palm of Taylor Dose lol!

I want that house!
