I loved this entire video but the back to school shopping had me in tears 😭 I work in a district where most of the students struggle financially so to see the effort made by you to pick the “cool erasers” made me sob. Thank you for giving a piece of Hope to these more than deserving kiddos!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
I went to college in Flint and I'm so happy to see you donating to these kids! They totally deserve it, they were some of the sweetest kids I've ever met. Thank you for giving your time and money to help them.

Thank you Hope for helping children of Flint, Michigan! Being a native Michigander, I appreciate you sharing the need in Flint and supporting children with supplies for back-to-school.
My parents grew up right in flint. I visit there often. It is very sad because you can tell it use to be very nice. My parents still know where everything is. It’s unfortunate.
One thing I constantly see in Hope’s channel is her giving back to her community all the time. Thankyou for donating to the cause. May God bless you abundantly Hope and family ♥️

Hope, as a kindergarten teacher aide we see kids in and out of foster care, and kids whose families just need some help. This is amazing. I love what you do and what you stand for. You’re so amazing. This video really touched my heart 🩷🩷 thank you for helping schools make sure their kids get what they need to succeed in life. You have no idea how much of this these students will keep with them.

This video has a special place in my heart as Michigan is my home state. I live closer to Detroit but Flint is a stone throw away. Thank you so much Hope, for bringing fun, necessities, and HOPE to these beautiful kids and the community 💖

I shopped at a thrift store in a city called Hemet. It's a desert city in Cali. I found 2 paintings of Angelina Jolie. They were huge paintings in gold frames. They were painted by a popular artist who draws portraits of celebrities. Just a plain painting goes for $500. One of them of Jennifer Love Hewitt went for over $10k. These paintings has to be worth a couple of $1k or even more. People were following me asking if I was going to buy them. They were extremely heavy and I was carrying them as tight as I can. I still own them to this day and refuse to sell them.

I am from Flint Michigan, I was born there in 1984 shopped at that goodwill hung out at that mall. Sad to see flint so crappy it's like the because flint ran on the big motor companies and they closed and then a water crisis since the 80's. I live in Florida now thanks for helping hope I have sent school supplies several times my aunt was a school teacher

I’m from Flint. I remember when it was a busy, bustling city with beautiful shops and lovely families lining the streets downtown. I’ve shopped that Goodwill store more times than I can count and worked at Genesee Valley Mall. It makes me so sad to see all the poverty and blight that now exists in my childhood home. I spent many years running a summer feeding program in a downtown park and working at an after school program at The Salvation Army. There will always be a special place in my heart for Flint.
Hope I think what you did for the children in Flint Michigan was great. That city has gone through a lot over the last few years with the water issue and you doing this. Hopefully will show other people how important it is to think of others. You’re the best.

I've definetly noticed a rural/urban difference in price and brands for 2nd hand. Where I live (big city) you can get an H&M shirt for 5-10 dollars/Euros, but if I visit my folks in the country side I can pick up the same shirt for 4 dollars/Euros, or find it in the pay-per-weight section for like 1-2 dollars/Euros.
Before thrifting and flipping thrift store finds became popular I found some wonderful brand new with the labels still on clothing at our good will and thrift stores.
My favorite light jacket that I found was my Eddie Bauer green wool zip up for $4.99. Tags on. I love this jacket and the way its held up I was going to order a new one in a different color brand new from the store it is $129.00😳 so that was a nope. I also found a new kids coat for my grandson for $4.99 and it was a north face brand new coat.
But now if you go goodwill and Mel trotter both bump up the prices so high they cost more than they originally were bought.
Like 12.99 for a tank top from the gap that was $6 brand new.
I don't shop thrift very often any longer. I do yard sale occasionally tho.
We have Value Village in Canada which is a huge chain of thrift stores and then the small charity thrifts. Value Village is so expensive for clothes that are all donated. You literally could buy new for less in some cases, corporate greed at its finest. The small ones are always well priced

I love your videos. But I will say that the thumbnail is a little problematic and insensitive. Being “poor” doesn’t equal being dirty or wearing torn up, dirty clothes. I know many people who would be considered “poor” and you’d never know because they look immaculate and take pride in their appearance and belongings. You even did your hair and makeup in the thumbnail for the richest city. People who are “poor” wear makeup. They do their hair. To imply otherwise is hurtful. But otherwise I truly love your videos and am subscribed to all of your channels. This is just a tad tone deaf and out of touch.

There are worse things to worry about than a youtube thumbnail of somebody who is DOING A GOOD DEED. Sometimes we need to see people for the good they do and stop pointing fingers over every little thing you want to find offensive just for the sake of making everything about you. I love that ur doing this but i cant help but feel weird about the designer shoes getting donated to kids in need. I live in a place with a massive poverty and homeless population. I myself have struggled alot living here. I know you have the money and can spend them but shoes like gucci heels arent something a highschooler needs, they need somethings they can wear everyday. Like i know a student would love them but if they are in need all i can think is they need something practical. The video felt more about what you could buy for them and less avout awareness, what these students need, and what they cant buy for themselevs. I love you hope and the video is good the shoes just gave me bad vibes
Just to clarify I think doing this for kids is amazing but you have to remember it's about so many kids. So it's hard to think one kid is getting a pair of walmart shoes and another is getting free Gucci when they are equally in need and desperate.

Oh Hope! You truly live up to your name! I'm from a town between Flint and Detroit, and lived in NYC for 8 years. Now I'm a teacher in Cambodia! And I cannot tell you how much my students would appreciate something like this -- not too different from the kiddos in Flint. This is the best idea for giving back and hopefully will inspire others to do the same. I'm gonna show this vid to my students in my Environmental Solutions class here in Cambo!!! As someone from Michigan, who has been in the same situation as those children, I just want to say thank you for donating. I know when I got things donated to me. It was the happiest day/holiday of the year. For around Christmas time you should check out sponsoring families for Christmas someone did that for me and I will be forever grateful

Psst just FYI for us Michiganders it's Detroit that is the poorest, Flint is one of our suburbs and a in-between place, but most of Michigan water has lead, so I hope you only had bottled water =).

Goodwill absolutely does NOT have universal pricing. The GWs here in Northern Indiana are more expensive than the ones in Southern Ohio, for example.
I live in San Francisco, my mom lives in West Virginia. Hahah universal pricing? On the other hand when you find something amazing in WV, it's usually REALLY amazing.

Another Michigan fan here! nothing new to say, just another thanks for using your platform to help Flint in anyway you can. Donations like yours are so great for practical and psychological needs
When I was younger and I lived in a less fortunate area, the public school had a “school uniform” to make sure everyone would feel equal. It was just jeans, the school shirt, and basic shoes. The biggest thing was you were strictly forbidden to wear designer items with labels or even high end stuff in general. It was really considerate that made sure no kid felt put down based on what they wore. When I moved to Colorado (state with choice of school) I was able to attend despite living far away. And going to that school was a completely different world. Entire outfits drowned in labels, there was a girl that’d wear ALL Gucci outfits everyday and was driven to school in an Aston Martin. I really hope they can bring back the basic school uniforms to allow students to be less segregated based upon something that can’t change.
As somebody that lives right down the road from the Flint goodwill, I appreciate everything you were able to do for the community. It is so run down and the youth could really use some love!
If you're looking for someplace local in Utah to support, I really recommend The Other Side. Their organization supports people coming out of substance abuse recovery, as well as working to end homelessness. When thrifting here I always go to their stores first!

In the UK most thrift stores are charity shops, which means that they have an NGO or a cause behind them. I sometimes forget that that's not the norm.

So happy to see you helping Flint. My husband grew up in a very poor part of Detroit. Those house are sadly everywhere. It happened to the house he grew up in. He still has family in Michigan. Last year we went to a graduation party, close to Flint. We ended up with a ton of food left over and a huge cake that wasn’t touched. We took it to the homeless shelter in Flint. So sad to see all the families. One kid was so excited when they saw the cake. He was around 5. He said “I have never had birthday cake” I cried so hard.

Unfortunately, having worked in the thrift industry BEFORE it got popular to thrift (and resell), I know that a lot of these bigger companies are thinking of their bottom line, and not about their customers. Goodwill and Salvation Army have both told me versions of the story that they sort clothes and shift higher end items to their “city” stores or online, and keep them out of stores where “they won’t sell to value.” 🙄 Buffalo Exchange is extremely picky, at least when I lived near them in Seattle and Philly, and refused to carry a long list of brands - and sizes. 😒 Eventually I discovered that the best places to shop were Junior League or independently owned thrift stores in upper middle and high income earner areas.

I didn't plan to cry by the end of this video, and yet I'm covered with tears anyway 😅 I'm an educator at a district with majority low-income families and imagining the impact of the items donated to these students to help them focus on their learning and worry less about the materials they need to get through each day, along with imagining the excitement on the day they all received them made me overwhelmingly happy. Thank you!

I love that you ate donating shoes! As a family, we are on a "wait list" for shoes and school supplies, hoping someone donates shoes and items that will fit them, that work for school. We are beyond blessed that we have the opportunity to even put our wishes out. Thank you for blessing kids in need! As a parent, it hard not being able to give your kids the most basic needs in life.

Giving back is lovely but did you really need a gray/washed out “poor” filter after the bright and colorful New York images. People without a lot of money still see just as much color as the wealthy.
