I see Lorelei's point, and agree this sort of thing wouldn't be for everyone. But little girl me, who was obsessed with pretty dresses and tea parties, but never got to go one, would have LOVED this experience.
I think that's why Michele's character was such a good foil in this scene. He wanted this experience compared to Lorelei who had it and hated it. It shows that this is more about parents not listening to their children rather than "ohh girly girl things bad" because the blonde girl at the end also seems like she's having a good time.
Yeah, but I feel like Emily’s taking away some of the fun with her strict observance of etiquette. I mean, they’re just kids. There’s nothing particularly wrong with touching another girl’s ribbon.
I love how it's shown that Lorelai and Michel are BOTH projecting onto Caroline. The truth of her personality is probably somewhere in the middle. She does seem to be having fun here, but she also wants to bring some of her own flair to the festivities.
I loved this show. While watching, I often wondered how they could learn and speak their lines with such speed. The humour in the dialogue was above and beyond most North American shows.
I think if writers would have wanted to show a more human part Emily this episode would have been perfect. Can you imagine how nice an Emily with a soft size for the "little rebellious" girl would have been ...that certainly was something to see and would have said a lot about Emily love for Lorelei but if nobody had enough creativity we were stolen of it

Yea it might have been a fun experience for us girly history lovers

Emily always dresses so tastefully, but that outfit for the cotillion was gorgeous on her!
That woman lives in St. John and I love to see it.
Looks like a mermaid
Every time Michele says "Take me" I crack up.

That little girl reminds Lorelai of herself at that age
"And proceeded to poop inside my Prada loafers" Caroline is a little Lorelai. And Michel needs to chill out.
I LOVE Michele. He is so great.
As a very "princessy" girlie girl, I ABSOLUTELY get Lorelai's point though.
I just watched this scene for the very first time and it was chivalrous
Lorelai looks like she’s wearing a wedding dress.
Anyone else think that Michel is adorable?

What's Penny Halliwell doing there? 😅
Pls someone tell what episode that is ❤
Season 7 episode 2 is Lorelai's First Cotillion.
@@SarahFrederick-vl2lq thank you :)
@@ЛилитАлексанян-э3ы You're welcome
How suffocating. I see why Lorelei was estranged. I get etiquette but no cotillions.
I would have loved it. Everyone is different.
First time I said chivalrous
I didn't see this episode, but I don't see that hip hop dance going over well.
Was that Meryl Streep ?
No that's Jennifer Rhodes. She played the grandmother in charmed 1998
Good manners… sadly out of fashion
lol cry about it
