CZ P01 1000 Round Review: Is It Really That Good?

- The CZ P-01 is a pistol with a great track record with military and law enforcement all around the world and a great size for every purpose, but how does it stack up after a 1000 rounds? How does it compare to a Glock, M&P, or a Sig?

Being 80 years old and having been shooting since I was nine, I have shot and carried a lot of different guns. At one time a few years ago I carried a CZ 75 Compact but the DA pull was difficult for an old guy. After trying about a half a dozen other guns for carry I rediscovered a compact CZ 75, only this time it was the P-01. I love to fine tune my guns so after LOK grips and about $125 in parts from Cajun Gun Works I have a carry gun that far exceeds anything I have tried in the past. My DA pull is now about 6 pounds and the SA about 3. I also changed the sights. My preference for most of my guns is a blacked out rear with a fiber optic front but my old eyes made me go with a set of Truglo TFX sights. What a gun. It is probably going to be my carry gun for as long as I carry one. Thanks for all of the great videos.
I hope you shoot until you are 100. Thank you for the post.
Keep on trucking Sir! I love mine as well.
Thank you for the insight, old-timer. Hope you can continue to shoot well into your hundreds!
Turned 21 last week and just bought a p01 today, cant wait to get in the range and start shooting! I love your post, I have never seen someone talk bad about the p01.
This post has OldDuke written all over it. Hello Friend! I seem to be creating a carbon copy of what you shared above... I'll share with you after it's complete.
Pick one up. Feels like shaking hands with an old friend. Yes, I bought one.
@Dun Koff explain why? Haven’t heard that from anyone
@@P0RTER9 I bet he hasn't held one and thinks a glock is like holding god's gift to earth.
🤣
@@75zl1 - Yeah, no shit. Nothing fits the hand better than a CZ or a SigSauer. I own 6 CZ’s and three Sig’s, they all fit my hand like a glove. Can’t say that about my Glocks.
@Multicam Cossack you are very special
I absolutely love this gun. As soon as I shot it for the first time I immediately went home and ordered it from buds. Sold both Glock 19’s and bought more CZ mags with the money. Even after almost two decades with the Glock I was over it from day one. I will never look back. What an amazing firearm.
Dumbest thing ever. So you sold your boring reliable Glocks for a over priced CZ? Lol
Lots of luck to you
I kept my G19 but I agree. One day to the range and it's obviously like comparing a Honda civic to a Ferrari😂
@@connor1982 that’s actually exactly what it’s like. And people love Hondas for the same reasons they do Glock. THEY FREAKING WORK LOL
I Carry my Glocks in town and my P01 in the woods. Reason being is the CZ is as accurate as a 22 for small game. CZ's are the most undiscovered, under rated firearm. Be well!
@@Dollsteak69 I carry my .357 Sig Glock 32 when I'm out fishing, hunting, hiking, camping, etc.
But I carry my CZ every day since I live in the city, this is a gun I completely trust my life with. Sold my Glock 19 Gen 3 and my Commander 1911 to get this one
When I switched from revolvers to semi-auto for EDC I looked at dozens of guns and sweated the decision hard for several months. Literally the instant I picked up a P-01 I knew I had wasted all that time looking at other guns.
I did the same thing. My 75-year-old EDC revolver can finally retire to become a fun range gun while the P-01 Omega can take up the dirty work.
Curious...What model was that 75year old revolver?Don't own a CZ yet but one is coming soon.
75 compact..looking forward to the transition.nice pistollas!I carry a S&W 66_2 OWB.In NC all year round.found the right grips holster and belt combo+ the profile of the gun...blends right in w a t-shirt..everything is slick and dosnt hang up on clothing.Think with a 1\2fbi cant holster and the bogies I could get similar results with a cz 75
I hate to admit this... I have been a 1911 guy forever but I wanted to get into DA/SA pistols, so I traded in one of my Colt 1911s for a CZ 97B .45 ACP. The ergos are, brace yourself, better than a 1911. There, I said it.
Looking at getting a P-01 for carry right now. I might as well get two, because once my wife shoots it some I probably won't get it back.
@@HalfCrazy520 The one thing on 1911's that is very hard to equal is the trigger, especially if you have tuned it to your touch. But I like the double/single actions with decockers for safe carry without using a manual safety. But yeah, that palm swell grip just fits better and more securely than any 1911 I've handled.
Fully cajunized P01 with LOK thin grips is my daily carry. FYI, when CZ was making the magazines, they were 14 round. About a year or so ago they started coming with Mecgar 15 round magazines. You can tell the difference by the blue follower and different coating.
I think it's a good upgrade
Mec-gar was actually the OEM manufacturer for CZ mags, they just didn’t see it on there now they can make these mags under their own brand for half the price
The originals also had rubber base plates. I like them better.
I also have a fully cajunized P01 all steel . Under 3lbs single under 7 lbs double. Safety model. I was told in this model the trigger could be tuned more.
I was wondering about that...
I love my p01, I carried a g19 for ten years before getting the p01 last year and I'm blown away with how well it shoots.
Do you edc the P01 now? I’m have a few g19s and thinking about making a switch
@@worldwide1873 yes, I like having a double action for conceal carry. I keep it de cooked and when I pull it out or holster it I keep my thumb on the hammer so I know its not going off

I just purchased the CZ P-01 a couple of months ago, and I've taken it to the range a couple of times. I can't believe how accurate this little gun is, it's a real tack driver, but I should've known, it's a CZ!

I've carried my P-01 appendix for years now, and I love it. I was lucky enough to get a serial number with the early NSN. I have VZ grips, meprolight regular height sights, and I fitted a threaded barrel to it for my Hybrid 46. (I don't have the Omega, nor did I want it. I preferred the stock, standard trigger). The gun is infallible, and has upwards of 12,000 rounds through the pipe with not a single issue. It's been racked, and decocked thousands of times and has the strongest, tightest lock-up of any of my pistols. Highly recommended to anyone.
Can I ask how you put a threaded barrel on it? I've looked for aftermarket ones and can't find anyone who makes them
Hey man what meprolight sights did you throw on yours? Been looking for some night sights and was looking at those exactly, how do they look and how bright are they?
Had mine for about 4 years with zero hick-ups. Glad you're in the same goat budddy!
@@ulyssesdiaz1913 I have the truglo TFX pro on mine, and its pretty great. Just suggesting another option
Can I ask why you didn't want the Omega and can you also explain more about the serial number with the early NSN?
I knew the answer before clicking on this. My favorite Hickock video is when he reviews the shadow he just goes crazy.
Still waiting on the P-07 vs P-01 video!
That would be a great one

Love my P-01 Omega. Retired my Glock after I got it. Goes everywhere with me. Super reliable, nice weight, no shakes or rattles and fits my hand like a glove. Beautifuly built and fits most of my Glock 23 holsters.
CZ has been making a great guns for years. The market has some really good guns and manufacturers. All over shadowed by Glock. Nothing wrong with glocks but the world has more options. Like the CZ or FNH.
Or H&K
LOK "palm-swell Bogies" are AMAZING on CZ pistols.
I'm new to DA/SA pistols and you were SO RIGHT (again) that practicing stroking the double action trigger over and over will improve your ability to yank a trigger and not move the sights. I'm a better shooter with ANY pistol now.
Such a great looking handgun
Love everything about the P-01, I've also owned SP01 and SP01 Shadow which are fantastic as well. Wanted to make a note that the longer reset on the stock P-01 and pretty much any other stock CZ with a firing pin block is due to the firing pin block itself. With the firing pin block not present like on the SP01 Shadow & Shadow 2 the reset is much shorter.
I'm totally looking forward to your P 07 vs P 01 video. I've had them both and kept the P 07. It's a very versatile firearm.
Did a ton of research and looking last year for a new carry gun (was using my old Sig 245). Ended up getting the P01 Omega and a P07.
Once you go CZ you never look back lol 😆 💯
Usually the case with any high end hammer drop guns lol.
you can throw those 1911 in the garbage lol 😆
@@ur_asian_milfoil I mean 1911s are nice. Especially the high end ones. I’d carry a 1911/2011 over a striker gun any day.
1st time I saw one of the P01 Omega's, my local store had just gotten one in. The counter guy knows me well and told me I needed to hold it. That was all it took. Bought it immediatly and never regretted it. Absolutly awesome gun from any angle.
I parked a Beretta 92 for this CZ as my under the pillow gun. Have never slept better.
I had to use that damn M9 half way through my Army career. I swore at them. Once I retired and had a USA homestead, I started buying CZs, rifles and handguns. They are so well made.
Did you have issues going from a full size Beretta to the compact CZ? Im surgucal with the Beretta but not with the CZ. I guess I'm still learning it. I love how it feels, its light but still has heft and I can tell it will eat anything like the Beretta
@@nicktaylor5952 ; I've heard withdrawal can be rough You can do it
@@nicktaylor5952 I have pretty medium hands, the 92 felt more like a brick, the CZ feels more shaped to my hand, even though the standard trigger reach is pretty out there on the CZ. I put the thinnest grips I could on it and it feels awesome. I like both guns, but the testing and feel of the CZ puts it a notch above the 92. Sorry it took so long for a reply, somehow I missed this question. Oh, which one do I shoot better? Probably the full size 92, but not much better.
I value the added safety of the DA pull and hammer for when taking the gun in and out of a holster pointed toward my body.
The P07 seems like the ideal choice for larger hands while the 3 compact 75 models seem good for med/small ergonomics.
The steel frame is out for me as a daily Ccw so that leaves the p01 and Pcr. Then it’s just a choice of light rail / wml versus a bit less weight and slightly better ergonomics for Ccw. Since I’m not really out much at night as a family man the PCR was the clear choice for me. This channel was super helpful in spotting small differences and thinking through my decision.
Thanks!
FYI my full sized steel framed sp01 with a tlr1 HL is my home defense weapon. Best of both worlds. A p365 in a sticky holster is a gym/ grab n go option I have as well.
After buying my first CZ,' a slightly used Shadow II, I love CZ's, after watching your initial review, I bought a P01 decocker, I immediately knew the double action could be better, I ordered a kit from Cajun Gun works, disassembled the entire gun polished all the internals, with all the tutorials and videos available I was confident I could reassemble the decocker cage, after assembly, I ended up with a very smooth DA of 6 1/2 lb. and SA of 2 3/4 lb. Installed tru glow night sights and LOK full checker palm swell grips, I have since then put a CGW kit in my Shadow II and 97B all with LOK full checker palm swells.
Next on my list is a SP 01 D with the same treatment. Of all my 35 handguns the CZ's are my favorites.
Thanks Honest Outlaw and Cajun Gun Works.
I have the p10s and P07 and I love them both. I started my CZ journey with the Scorpion which is a pretty basic PCC but reliable and when I had an issue with it CZ paid for me to ship it to them, fixed it and had it back to me in about a week, you can't ask for better service. I have many Sigs and was a Sig guy for many years but now having tipped my toe into the CZ pond, I see myself being an avid swimmer for many years to come, this pistol is definitely on the list of ones to get. Thanks for all you do Chris, you had a huge influence on my getting back into shooting and I genuinely value and appreciate the content you put out regularly.
Same started with a scorpion and now have the sp-01 tactical and p10f. I want to get the p10c/p01/p07 next for ccw but can't decide which to get first lol.

Out of my 7 handguns the P01 is my favorite. The da/sa is a little bit tricky for me to get used to but now that I have about 1k rounds through it I love it. I will say I changed the sights to night sights and went with some lok grips. The rubber are extremely comfy but for cc I prefer something a little slicker. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this.
Which sights did you go with. Looking at TFX Pro

P-01 is in 2nd place behind my other CZ... a 97B .45 ACP. If only the 97 had a rail...
1) 97B (w/LOK grips)
2) P-01 (w/ Dawson night sights, LOK grips, PL2 mini)
3) M&P 2.0 Compact (Apex Trigger kit, PL2 mini)
4) Springfield 1911 .45
5) Redhawk .44 Mag 7-1/2"
For carry, it's the P-01 first followed by the M&P, but I'd have to shoot the M&P for a couple weeks before I start carrying it again, since I'm so used to a DA/SA now.
I bought one of these almost a year ago, and it has been the only gun I have never had a problem with. The only thing that might be considered a problem was the fact that the light I put on it would fly off during firing. I later determined that it was that I had mounted the light wrong.
Last time I went to the range with it was a very snowy winter day. I locked the slide back and chucked it into the snow. I got blasted by snowy debris but this gun never had any sort of jam, while my glock failed to feed a few times after the same treatment.
Great to know! My two primary EDC guns are a G19 and a P-01. I may just carry my P-01 100% of the time.
CZ? What's not to LOVE? I have 3...P-01, CZ 75 Compact and the CZ75 Phantom. Each weapon is phenomenal, and far more accurate than I am.
Got my p01 2 days ago and shot 200 rounds through it today. Absolutely my favorite handgun and I will be keeping mine forever
Can't wait to see how it matches up with the 07
My CZ P75 01 that I purchased was the Omega version, and I couldn't be happier with it.
I own a CZ Shadow 2 SA and love it. I wanted a carry pistol and I bought a new CZ p-01 omega. The gun feels great in the hand, there is no question CZ knows ergonomics. It's a good looking gun, it straddles the nightstand gun, and conceal carry gun line very well. Having said all that, I sold it. It's not an expensive gun, but it's not cheap either. My biggest gripe is the money that you need to spend to make it a really good gun. The grips are just ok, you'll replace them. The sights are three dot, no night sights. It's not cut for a red dot. The DA/SA trigger has the longest reset I've ever seen in a pistol. Creep and pull weight means you'll at least consider getting CGW to do a trigger job for you. In the end, your $550 dollar gun is well north of a grand. Mine was sighted so badly it was off four inches at 25 feet. Anyone can get a bad example, I've passed my experience off to that, and have considered buying another, but only after I'm willing to soak $600 additional into the gun.
I have the Shadow 2 and have been eyeing a S2 SA. Been seeing some great deals lately.
I bought my P-01 years ago. It makes one of the best range guns I’ve ever owned and will not part with.
I have a CZ SP01 and i love the hell out of the gun. I have about 2k round though it and it just amazing
My P01 is the first pistol I ever bought, and I love it. I've done a lot, but all I have left to do now is port it and mill the slide for the trij mounting plate.
I love my p01. I got bored while we were sighting in rifles for a hunt and hit a 10" gong from 100 yds on the second shot. I stopped after that. It will shoot much better than I can. Switching to tfx pro sights soon
good shootin Tex!
I saw a review stating that the tfx pro sights are not designed for the p01. apparently with the shorter slide the higher sights cause it to shoot low at short distances. Did you experience this issue?
@@T3merity haven't got them yet. Other things took priority to gun stuff

A vs. vid with the P07 and G19 would be gangsta
I've had the CZ--75 PO1 since 2005. Love it. Great review and shooting as always.
Got myself a P-01 Omega, a few months back...and absolutely love it.
This thing has chewed through all of the various rounds I've thrown at it...and I've TRIED to jam it with crap rounds and old, beat up rounds...it just keeps going. I might get a spring kit from Cajun or MCarbo, to lighten up the trigger pull, or not...it's really not that bad. I really appreciate you taking the time to do an initial review and a 1000 round review of this gun.
Great review. wow. you covered a lot here. I was a BHP guy until the 2020 cost frenzy. I picked up a surplus 75 Compact (it looked to have the ergonomics of the BHP detective model)...and fell in love with it's handling and performance. So much so, that I picked up another CZ. Purchased a used PCR this time since I like the decocker concept. Luv 'em both. As a newbie to CZ, I also like the support I got from Cajun Gun works and CZ in Kansas. Even during a pandemic, and overwhelming demands....they still had time to talk, answer questions, and invite me to their locations.
Just ordered one. Always regretted selling my CZ75. This is the same size as my G19. Win.

Good shop, got two of mine done by them and have zero regrets.
What’s the process to send it to them
@@GBall_Vision Normally you email them and ask to be put on a list. It would usually take 8 weeks to get the ok from them to send your pistol in. However they are now expediting their process and it seems like you will only have to wait a week or two for them to tell you to send your CZ in. Just check out their website and they will give you directions. The owner David Milam is a total gentleman and his staff are top notch. David told me that CZ has to cut corners in order to make their pistols competitively priced. CZ uses cheaper quality springs and roll pins, so he has designed better quality trigger return springs, firing pin springs and roll pins that increase the reliability and enhance the shooting experience of CZ hammer and striker fired pistols.
I got the omega version for less than $600! I would love to see a review once you get the upgrade, thanks for the recommendation for the P01 and CZs in general as they are new to me and I am excited to check them out for carry and competition. I’ll be doing a review over the next month or so.
Hands down my favorite handgun. I have had mine for 6 years and carry it daily. With 2500k+ rounds through it i can speak to its reliability. I did the cajun gun works parts inside my self including the short reset and it just got that much better. Lok thin grips and soon I will be sending it to Impact Machine to get it milled for a red dot.
I had a P-01 years ago and agree, it is a wonderful little pistol. However, if you like to modify your own handguns, be aware that the fire control group is incredible complicated. The little cage that carries the sear contains some tiny springs, and putting all those parts back in that cage can be tedious to say the least. As much as I loved it, I sold it and stayed with my Berettas. Much easier to work on and modify. Then came along my first 1911 and I fell in love with the design. Now, a 1911 or 2011 is pretty much all I carry and shoot. For being over 100 years old, they are incredible pistols.
Can't fault your choice. I learned to shoot with a 1911A1. Carried a ParaOrdinance P14 as a Deputy Sheriff in 45 ACP. Still have it. And it still feels good in my hand as well, but not as good as the Sig SPO1.
I know what you mean. I have a couple Glocks and a P-01 and its incredible how complex one design is compared to the other. I feel like my guns compliment each other well.
M-Carbo has an amazing close up de-cocker sear cage assembly video for the CZ-75.
@@828enigma6the WHAT sp01….
I'm doing my homework on these things now. The more I read and see videos about them the more I want one. This comes from a BIG Sig/Beretta guy
I used to be a big Sig fan, and while I still have them they are very rarely ever shot anymore with the exception of P228’s. These P-01’s and SP-01’s are like lasers they shoot so well. I won’t even mention the Shadow line, because it’s basically cheating with those guns. While I do have a few parts in my CZ’s from Cagun Gun Works, they don’t need much honestly to transform the gun into another level.
I have been watching you for about 6-8 months and seen many great reviews. I will note an observation is that you are one heck of a good shooter, fast on target. I love my Sp-01. Thanks for your efforts.
Also: I’d love to see a vs video with a tricked out P01 and an LTT compact Beretta 92
Those are the two DA/SA handguns I am considering
David Gladstone I’m picking up the LTT compact today as it happens. Don’t have the P01, but I do have the P07-which is my favorite gun. We’ll see if it’ll be dethroned by the Beretta
Sean, It would be great if you could send me your comparison thoughts. Enjoy your new LTT.
David Gladstone took the Beretta to the range this week and here are my (very) early thoughts: the ergos on the CZ P07 are better; better grip and less reach. Also lighter (of course). Point point very naturally-probably a tie in that regard. The Langdon however has a superior trigger-and my P07 has the Cajun Gun Works Pro Kit installed. The Cajunized trigger on the CZ is great; infinitely better than the stock P07 trigger. But the Langdon beats it in every regard; less pre-travel (there isn’t much in the CZ but there’s literally none in the Langdon) less creep before the wall (again:barely any in the cajunized CZ but absolutely non-existent in the Langdon) and a much shorter reset in the Langdon. Right now I’m sticking with the P07 as my EDC as I have more rounds through it and way more experience on CZs compared to Beretta 92s. But this could change with more trigger time on the Beretta. Definitely different animals; the CZ is lighter and polymer and, with some work on it from CGW and Dawson sights, is a superb gun. The Langdon Beretta is probably the best gun,out of the box, that I’ve shot. If you have a lot of experience with Berettas, I’d go with that. I don’t-but I plan on changing that now.
Sean, thanks for your input. I don’t have experience with either Berettas or CZs. Just Sig and Ruger striker fired. But I would like to get a compact SA/DA.
I used to love the P01 until I got the Beretta PX4 LTT Compact Carry. I’d love to see you shoot the PX4 LTT version. It’s amazing. 7lb DA trigger and 3.5 lb SA. Extremely accurate and soft shooting. The PX4 is so underrated. Love the channel.
PX4 gang! I have the full size since we can’t get the compact here in Commiefornia. LTT’d it myself with the comp trigger group and trigger bar, and just sent it in to LTT to get the RDO cut for an RMR and barrel crowned and NP3 finished. It’s my best shooting handgun - even more so than my CZs. You are correct, sir.
@@KonaLife Actually, I still own and love the P-01 but man, that Compact Carry PX4 is amazing!!! I might send mine in for optic cut as well. That's the only thing my PX4 needs.

I picked up a cz 75D for carry. Love it. I'm a big 1911 fan so when I first put my hands on the cz , the grip angle was nearly identical to the 1911 and fit my hand in ways the 1911 doesn't. It doesn't move or squirm around in my hand at all while shooting due to the nice purchase I get on it from the design. It's alittle bulkier the the 1911 but easily concealed coming in at 32 oz with 15 + 1.
To me, there isn't a better fit in my hand. If I ever had to use it defensively, I'd want that full size 75B, it's just "right".
SP-01 shadow, hands down best handgun I own.
I love mine! I got mine back from CGW about 6 months ago. So worth it. Added the pro package and RMR.
Your videos on the P-01 have probably given the gun a nice boost in sales! I don't think it's ever been in any danger of being discontinued (I mean, it's to the SP-01 what the G19 is to the G17!), but it's kind of a crime that it's not as popular as the G19, P320, and M&P. And after getting it Cajunized, I think a lot of people would agree that it smokes all three of those guns.
Well we all know the Glock will still be around in another 10 years. Guess we'll see if this particular CZ model will be as they're known for cancelling models every year it seems
@@tonyrogo227 The P-01 has been around for 20 years now and is the true compact version of the 75. Ironically, California helps it continue to be a big seller for CZ as it's actually on the California handgun roster while newer CZs like the P-07 and P-10 are not.

Is the CZ recoil noticeably snappier over your C2 and comparatively, is as accurate?
Thx in advance!
I've got two. One is the standard P01 with a decocker, the other, called the 75B Compact D, which is a P01 with a manual safety instead of a decocker - this one was bought new from Angus Hobdell's CZ Custom shop.
▪︎ I bought both several years ago when there was a shortage of 9 mm ammo. I ended up shooting lots of crap ammo thru it, in some very cheap homemade stuff. But to my surprise, I really had no problem. Beside having an amazing ergonomic handle and the super low bore axis due the the internal slide rails, both my CZ P01s are incredibly reliable. From a fair number of options of semi-autos and combat revolvers, the P01s are what I choose for my CCW EDC.
I would love to see a versus on the Sig P229 and/or Beretta PX4 Storm, oh, and yea P01 vs P10C CZ Family Freud!
I just handled one today and was considering getting it. After this review, I'm definitely buying one. Thank you, sir.
found ammo at Academy Store, they didnt have it out but they had it in the back when i purchased my pistol they asked me if i needed ammo i was surprised
I was a Buds in Tennessee 2 weeks ago and they were only selling ammo to those buying guns from them except for .22
Learn to reload!
My first handgun. I’ve owned a million since, and this one is still my favorite.
CZ is a quality firearm hands down. I own a lot of them and have not had any issues in over 20 years of carrying them.
Just got mine today! It feels incredible in the hand. I have never felt so comfortable holding a pistol in my life.
I just got my RAMI 6 hours ago!!
Looking forward to my first shots with it
Congratulations 🎉
I finally shot mine for the first time. And loved it. Its a little snappy. But, nothing too disliking. Definitely a keeper. Im planning on carrying this one as my EDC. I think you will love it, also. Cheers.
@@atagonzalez9899 What ammo did you use?
✌️
I love my Rami❤️
@@rexroscoeroggaschjr7530 uhmmm, i believe they were winchester 124 grain, full metal jacket. I wasn't about to waste hollow points, you know. Hahahaha
@@atagonzalez9899 thank you! Yea not defensive rounds for plinking. Picked up some Fiocchi 124 fmj’s!
Also some I’ve never heard of, Underwood Ammo, 90 gr +P, Xtreme Defender.
✌️
Still waiting on the P-01 & P-07 comparison video.
The P01 is on my "wanna own" bucket list.
Mine too
Good luck they disappear pretty quickly atleast near me 😢😢
Another CZ convert here’ was a Glock-19 guy for over 20yrs’ I bought a 75B Omega and went in the range’ after the first shots where fired I immediately went back out into the store and bought the P-01 for EDC’ the Glock is now on back up duty for SHTF
I have now tried a lot of firearms recently and I am glad I bought the staccato c2 three months ago after watching one of your videos. Thanks! Best gun review channel out there!
And look at you at 500k subscribers!
This is a top notch review because you talked about the versatility as a result of all the issues you addressed. It is a gun you will always keep for multiple reasons. I would love to see an abbreviated review with the updates from Cajun Gun Works and what they do for the gun in a practical sense. Keep it honest, and we'll be quiet about the outlaw stuff.
I have an SP-01. Love the gun. It's very precise out of box even in my beginner's hands. Planning to get p-01 for carry in the future.
I put a stainless steel Recoil Rod in mine which took most of that minimal muzzle flip away.
Love these machines
I love the P 01 ! It has been my everyday carry for about 2 years. I outfitted mine with a set of TFX night sights with the green rear and orange front. it makes a huge difference in how fast you can acquire targets in low and bright light. I highly recommend them. Not only that they match my lime green Cajun Gun Works grips. LOL. It is also my favorite handgun to appendix carry. I use a huckleberry tactical holster with the concealment wing. It is also one of the few compacts that fit my hand well. I have very wide hands. Great review honest outlaw! Keep up the good work!
Bought Sig p229 elite enhanced June 2022. Early September, RMA to Sig for repair. Broken: mag safety spring, load chamber indicator, and trigger bar spring. I tried cz p-01 last week, and liked it. It just came in stock in my area and getting ready to buy it.
Out of all the 9mm pistols I’ve shot, the CZ75B was the best for me, the Walter PPQ being a close second. Great review, I would love to see how this stacks against the 75B
Interesting, these are the two pistols I like as they feel like they were made for my hands.
Hmmm.
Damn, I wish I could buy 'em all.
Just bought a used CZ 75B (practically new) and a new P01. P01's grip is superior even with the stock grips. I have a pre-ban 75 also and the 75B is more like that, but not as good as the P01. Be persistent, you will have them both.
cz 75 compact pcr is the non railed version i own and i love it. beautiful, classic, and light!
I was in an incident while carrying mine. The young officer that was holding it for my while things were getting sorted was blown away by mine. He is probably carrying one today. He had to give mine back.
This comment reads confusing. After reading again i figured out what you were saying
I thought you meant he was hit by an accidental discharge.
Yea I'm struggling to understand what you were trying to say man
Bro wtf happened lol
He's saying that the officer who handled his cz now probably bought one for himself. Now op needs to get it back from the officer
For years I've been shooting a CZ 75B; got some nerve difficulty in my L. hand, so picked up an S&W 9 EZ; liked it, but it was nothing like my CZ. When my hand got better, I picked up the 75B again, and started serious training with it. Found out that the trigger pinched my finger, and discovered that this happened to a lot of others too- so went looking for a flatter trigger. Then- *I discovered Cajun Gun Works!* My life has changed forever. Now I don't have nice groups around the bullseye, no... instead, _at 10 yards the bullseye is shredded!_ But my beloved 75B is a bit of a weight to carry. So- I found a P-01, and it's now on layby. I pick it up in a week, and I can't wait! Thanks for this great video, which confirms my choice!
I have both the P-01 and P-07. I love hammer fired guns and CZ's are fantastic. One thing I like about the P-01 over the P-07 is being able to change grips. I put dark walnut wood grips on my P-01. Not the grippiest thing out there but not bad and it really dresses the gun up. It is a little snappier probably because of the alloy frame. The only negative - which is minor and I might catch some grief for it - is that you can't tell visually if there is a round in the chamber. With the P-07 you can see if there is a round there. For some reason when I pick up a gun to carry it I like being able to just glance at it and see there is a round in there. I've ejected so many rounds checking my P-01 lol.
The extractor is external, can you see or feel a difference in the position of the extractor with a round in the chamber?
@@electric_boogaloo496 nope not that I can tell.
You sir, are the reason I own a P-07 and a P-01. 🫡
P01 is my EDC, cajunized, Taran +2 extensions. Love it. Also have P07, P10c, SP01, and a Scorpion. CZ makes excellent firearms!
I really enjoy reviews, your format is great and very informative. I had a CZ P10C and miss that one a lot. I’ll look into this one now. Thanks for the review
Would love to see a video update on this pistol with the upgrades you mentioned doing.
Great review dude. I can't wait to see how you feel about it once you get some CGW upgrades in it. I got my P01 back from CGW a few months back. Full Pro package, some new sights and thin aluminum grips. Single action ended up in the 3 pound range and double in the 7. Both super smooth. Trigger overall actually feels better than my stock Shadow 2 now, so that's definitely up for Cajun upgrades next. They do fantastic work.
Just picked one up at my local shop. This was a great surprise because I was in the process of ordering one through CZ USA law enforcement. That process seemed long and complicated, so finding 6 CZ models at a local. Shop was a total surprise. Loving it so far.
Time for the CZ P 07 vs P 01 you mentioned a long time ago?? Would really help me make the decision :-)
Agree! Hope I didn’t miss you doing this comparison
I own both, cannot go wrong with either Theyre both amazing, i prefer the P01 slightly more
Love mine, put m carbo kit in and really helped.Put strip of sandpaper grip strip on the front&back of grip and it feels so much better.
Thanks Chris, for the CZ P-01 review, I would agree I have one. I'd be interested in seeing your review the CZ 75-D pcr. For me this pistol has been and is an excellent firearm, easily accurate and has never failed to function, totally reliableble over a thousand rounds. It's also a CZ that is, 'that good'. Just my opinion.
I always wanted a CZ75 when i was a kid. Never really saw them in stores or sought one out. My buddy has the P01 with the NSN stamped on it. And i loved it. I just got a P07 but will be getting a P01 also
One of my faves, my night stand gun is an EEA Witness, from the mid 80's. It's a rebranded CZ75 made by Tangolio. I still love it! Fits my hand so well, and hits where I point it!

@@wehrewulf thanks for the correction. Apparently my spelling was way off! Lol
I've been carry this for years, I have one of the older ones that says CZ75 D on the slide with proprietary rail. This gun is almost perfect.
A P-06 is on my “someday” wish list, right next to a Legion P220. IMO alloy frame guns are just meant for heavier calibers like .40S&W. But what would be a cool comparison video, would be the CZ P01 vs a Tristar (Canik) P100. Especially in terms of custom modification availability. I have a P100, the serial number was my lucky number and my birthday, I had to buy it. And have actually been rather impressed by the little clone. And retail on them (when you could find them) was $350-400. And I do believe CZ custom will work on them because they’re such faithful reproductions of the CZ models.
The P-06 i have shot quite a bit really fits 4+ inch width palm (just over the 2X to the low side of 3x glove size) and still fits the hand well and is back on target quicker than the glocks and Springfield XD .45, from what I have noticed
It's a tac driver for sure
Can't wait to see the upgrades you intend to put on your P01
I just ordered one today. I have the PCR now as my EDC but the P-01 Omega will probably be in the rotation too. For me the CZ is my auto and the S&W is my revolver choice. the NATO tests have it as 7 FTF out of 15,000 rounds fired. That is very impressive. I like those odds.
I just ordered one last night PSA is closing out at $500! $588.00 to my FFL PSA in Savannah so no extra cost. Love PSA, love this channel.
New shooter here. Love your channel and all your review videos, super informative. You make a lot of excellent points when it comes to selection of firearms that a lot of other channels don't. Also, the cutscenes with you & the Mrs provide great entertainment factor. Thank you!
