This means the upgrade method shown in this video may not activate Windows 10 automatically. I was generously gifted a PC my father rescued from an estate sale. It was running Windows 8 and I couldn't get it to log into my Microsoft account. I followed your video and am now running Windows 10 flawlessly. The activation came through automatically. 10 May 2024. Recently purchased a still new in box (never opened) from 2012 HP P7-1451 at a great price off of E-Bay. After fighting the twelve year old Norton Security built into Win 8 by uninstalling it . I was still able to move from Win 8 to Win 10 (Home) as of July 2024. Thanks for your fairly easy to understand video as there seemed to be a hundred confusing videos on you tube!

Btw what is the difference between "Windows 10 Installation" (From USB) to this method of "upgrading"?
Pleasure! Well, usually when you install it from a USB you do a "clean" install of Windows. You have the option of keeping your files, but you can't keep your apps, programs & games that way. With the upgrade you can keep everything as is but your operating system gets updated.

I was sceptical it would work as they removed the support for updating windows 8 -> 10 using your old key.
However I guess Sweden wasnt that affected as it worked fine for me.

Was able to upgrade to windows 10 from 8 on 03 feb 2024, all thanks to you. but it took a lot of time as installation was getting stopped at 65% but after 4th time finally got upgraded. Thank you very much for your help. one thing my laptop got slower, any thing that can be done to boost speed?

So yes, for the speed you need to replace your existing hard drive with a Solid State Drive, that's the only thing that's going to increase the speed for sure. Hello! Fantastic video, When I try to open it with windows explore, it tells me I need to find an app from the app store? Most people can't get into the Windows app store. Any suggestions to help run the set up file? Cheers!
In that case, I would download 7-zip and extract the ISO file contents to a folder and just run it from within the folder.

Hi, great video. I now only have one problem. After doing everything step by step as in your video, I installed windows 10 on my desktop. Everything works, but when I checked if my windows is activated, it says ' windows is not activated'. The windows 8.1 that I had on my desktop was activated. What do I do now?
